I've been meaning to leave a review from my visit last month and just now got to it. To me, this place is basically "Overated, over priced and over all not good". If you're Latino/Hispanic and know what stuff should really be like this is not it. For other people wanting to try mexican treats these treats may suffice but definitely not "authentic". I did not try the popsicles and those looked really good so I might go back and give them a try one day but as for everything else me and my family had, it's a no go. I'll go into detail: We had 2, 1-scoop ice creams, the ice cream looked like it had melted and they refroze it and was really soft. $3.99 for one scoop so a total of $7.98 for soft, not so good ice cream. I also asked for an extra cup because my son accidentally dipped his spoon too deep and punched a hole. When I looked at my receipt I had an extra charge for "Extra fee - disposable plate" of $.45 cents for a small empty styrofoam cup. The churros are not authentic! The attendant literally took "frozen" premade churros out of the freezer and stuck them in a toaster oven. Once they were "toasted" she tossed them in cinnamon sugar and wrapped them. $1.38 per churro that was frozen and not fresh. My bionico (fruit cocktail) should normally have a creamy sweet sauce poured over the fruit and added granola or your choice of topping and this was literally fruit with yogurt on top and smucker's strawberry or chocolate syrup drizzled on top and on the bottom of the fruit. $8.75 for pretty much fruit and yogurt. The potato chips are some pre-bought chips that say "caseras" (homemade) on the bags but they don't even fry their own potato chips. We also tried the esquites, not good either. It's yellow sweet corn for starters which is not what "real" esquites are made with and should be white corn. To top it off, the corn was just pretty much boiled in water and the flavor was added with the mayo, cheese and chili powdered. The only thing that i can say was really good was the Mangonada. Even though I would have never expected to pay $7.50 for a cup of mango sherbert with mango chunks and chamoy. But it was good because we actually enjoyed that. FYI, the prices you see taken of the menu on the yelp and google review pages have been updated at the actual store and are $1.50 to $4 higher depending on the item. For example, it says thay their single scoop ice cream is $2.49 and honestly even $3.00 will have been okay but at the store the updated price is $3.99 for a single scoop. C'mon, not even Baskin Robbins! And believe me, I do understand inflation has hit and prices need to go up but $3.99 for a scoop? I normally go to "La Michoacana" but decided to try this place because I had heard about it and it's closer to home. But after my experience I will keep driving back to "La Michoacana", because they're stuff is really good and while you can spend a bit there too, their prices are more reasonable (even with the increases) and at least their stuff is so good to where the price becomes irrelevant. The only reason I would go back to Frutanas is to try their popsicles read more

Excellent little spot in OB! We ordered the Coquito and loaded it up with tons of fresh fruit. The sweet cream was perfect and the fresh shaved coconut and strawberry sauce were the perfect toppings. It was sooooo yummy! We also had the mango on a stick with lime and Chile(?) powder. Totally addictive! We have visited several times before and have not been disappointed. Brand new in Old Town Olive Branch! Right down the road from Sidestreet burgers. This is the only homemade dessert shop in Olive Branch that I know of. It is run by a delightful Latino family that I had the pleasure meeting yesterday during the grand opening. They were so nice explaining all the flavors and methods they were using to make their products. If you've been to La Michoacana in Memphis and liked it then this is your place. Fresh and all made in house. My kids had the Oreo Paletas, which had no less that 12 Oreos, some still in half mixed throughout the bar. My wife had the strawberry juice Paletas and loved it. I had the Mexican Chocolate bar and it was amazing. I have never had anything like it. It was rich, spicy, and had a wonderful aftertaste. It was an almost espresso/latte like flavor at the end. I am so happy to have something like this in my neck of the woods now! We will be regulars! read more

This is a must try desert place. It is different than most places around here because most of the deserts are just fresh fruit with a Mexican twist. I got the strawberries and cream. It was just a cup full of chopped strawberries with a liquid cream and topped with whipped cream and a chocolate covered strawberry. It was awesome. The strawberries were some of the freshest I have ever had and they would have been great by themselves. The cream had just enough sweetness to make it amazing.
