My only guess is they have too many members. That is the only explanation for the hilariously arrogant experience I had trying to sign up. I went in, got a guest pass for me and my spouse, worked out 2 days, came back to sign us up and magically the rates doubled. No phone call. No heads up. No effort to be helpful. I mentioned this felt unfair with no notice. The membership manager shrugged. "That's how it is." I said ok and left. He watched me walk out the door. The next day I called the GM and explained that I was disappointed at this shady business practice and he replied "thanks for bringing this to me, I'll talk to him" no resolution for me, no offer to help. My guess, again, they have too many customers so he could not be bothered to actually help us get a memberships. The gym is good. The staff is less than enthusiastic. They need to have a way of updating members of how crowded the gym is. I'm tired of having to wait 30+ minutes to start my workout because every piece of equipment is in use. DON'T DO IT!! Their rates are nearly triple since LA fitness took over from Xsport. Equipment is old, treadmills crusty with crap and dirt. Pool is of course out of working order, roped off with tape. Dirty lockers. And then on top of that, very rude staff who could care less about you - people in their 20's basically with attitudes of rude teenagers who don't know a thing about how to run a business or keep customers happy. They do not answer their phones on multiple occasions during normal business hours over multiple days calling. But they WILL however do whatever it takes to make sure you join and take your money. Staff was intrusive and talked down to me. They asked oddly personal questions and were often pushy. My interactions left me feeling uncomfortable. Environment seems toxic. Where gyms should be a safe and uplifting place for people to workout HOWEVER THEY'D LIKE, they seemed to push toxic gym mindsets and unhealthy body image rhetoric which was uncomfortable...and quite frankly none of their business. When they asked what my goals were when signing up they wouldn't accept my true answer-- that I just wanted to work out to feel good. They kept asking over and over again what specific body part I wanted to "slim down" or "make more muscular". I kept insisting I was just there to workout to be healthy and happy, but they kept pushing even when I showed discomfort. I finally just made up an answer to make them leave me alone. Mind you, I came in asking ONLY FOR A TOUR...not 40min of intrusive questioning. It was bad enough that I had to put my foot down a few times and say I wasn't going to answer their questions/do things they were asking. The person accompanying me even said something before I expressed my concerns to them privately, because they even felt it was inappropriate. I also felt talked down to a lot even when I explained I have extensive background knowledge in anatomy, nutrition, and weight lifting (education and athletics). Corporate wasn't much help when I reached out either. Disappointing because I have been a LA Fitness member my whole life, and never had a problem until I visited this location. read more

The staff has stolen $11 from in produce for themselves. When I try to reach out to get refunded. They tell me it never happened or call Nico on Monday to figure it out! After being told to shut up by Harris's and his co workers who Identify as the manager. Disgusting way to treat a customer and a reliable one at that. Never will I go here again. Swimming pool had been closed for months, and no one can tell you what happened and when it will open again

This place is a dump. The sauna has not worked for a year with no explanation. It is dimly lit. The worst part is the people sit on their machines doing nothing but staring at their phones. Hey, go to Starbucks if you want to sit and do nothing. Other clubs have posted signs to tell people to not just sit on the equipment. The staff does zero. When I pick a personal trainer I look for someone who listens, motivates and keeps me accountable. Paul Tolentino checks all of those boxes and more. The fact that he is fun to work with is the cream on top. Paul has been training me for over four years. I've followed him from my old gym when he transitioned to LA. Pretty nice gym and equipment, but was turned off by the first conversation I had with a sales associate. I signed up for a guest pass, which I was originally told lasted 4 days, but then when I got there, I was told it was only valid for a day since COVID. The guy tried to sell me on packages right away instead of asking me about my fitness goals or even showing me around the gym. He asked me if I knew what HIIT was, even though I've been consistently working out for the past few years. It just felt a bit rushed and ignorant. I've been a member of this LA Fitness for a few months. It's a pretty standard chain gym and I was pretty happy with it, at least until the stabbing in the locker room. I expected there to be enhanced security procedures after that took place, but it seems nothing's changed, which does not inspire confidence. My son also takes swim classes through the British Swim School located here (which is a separate company from LA Fitness) and my wife was berated by an LA Fitness employee named Tanisha for watching him swim through the window. JOKE. -Sauna has been out of service for over a year. -Hot Tub is gross. -Staff is very judgy and barley welcomes you in and don't even look up from their phones. -The water to the showers didn't work. -Free Weight section is always a mess of weights. -Palates room hasn't been used once for the last three years I've been there. -There is always at least 1 or 2 Stair masters/Treadmills that are out of service. I've been going here for about 3 months now and the place is always clean and the machines are well maintained. It gets pretty busy here around 4 probably due to it being close to the high school. My low rating is due to a negative experience with the personal trainer Valerie. I received a complimentary session with her and had to reschedule due to a medical emergency. I would leave messages with the front desk to reschedule but she would never call me back to confirm. Finally, I got an email confirming my session and I showed up 10 minutes ahead of time and waited for her to get to the gym. When she finally saw me she told me that I wasn't on her schedule and she could fit me in the following week. I understand that mistakes happen, but the interaction felt very dismissive and when I asked her about the email she said the system messes up sometimes and hit me with a "later" and an eye roll and just walked away. I ended up cancelling with her because I didn't want to have another one on one interaction with Valerie. read more

Ohhhh I absolutely love Esporta/LA Fitness.. I was very very very worried when I heard via Social Media that my location was closed as I've lost 100lbs from my dedication to fitness. The staff here was different than my other locations over visited. I was advised by the man working front seat at 5:39am that my Esporta didn't transfer to this location, he advised me of the one it did as well as give me my upgrade options and cost , as well as let me get my workout in. Walking to locker room I was greeted like a Queen by the man working Janitorial. Most people underplay this job, but he offered soooooo much Hospitality just by indicating they were available if we needed anything and advising the Spa was working. The place wasn't overly packed, which shocked me(new year's resolutions), this is what I needed to move into my next level of fitness. The entire gym was clean, like no random hairs, extra dust bunnies. Needless to say I will be back soon read more

I have been a member for several years. The equipment and location is good but they seem to have a problem with the mens steam room. It's usually down and they never communicate the reasons why. The sauna is a joke. It's been down a year and again, no commuication as to the status. They take forever to fix treadmills and equipment in general. If VASA fitness opens up in Naperville, this place would empty out in a heartbeat. Please do a better job with maintenance and communication. read more

I started training here about 6 months ago and was not particularly happy with the results I was seeing. After two months of no results I decided to seek out some help from the training staff here. Honestly, I just went for the trainer with biggest arms assuming that meant they knew the most. Luckily for me that trainer was Paul T and I was correct. Paul has helped me make significant strength gains while leaning out. He keeps the workouts motivating and exciting and has solid nutritional background as well. read more

My husband & I have been training with Patrick J for a few months now and we feel so much stronger & healthier. I don't focus on the scale but I'm certain I've lost several inches if not pounds. I feel great! Patrick is a great trainer who listens to our needs/goals and adapts our workouts accordingly. He pushes us out of our comfort zone and the workouts are always exciting. I've been very disappointed in this gym. I workout there right when it opens, 5AM. None of the machines have been re-racked! Squat rack, bench press, leg press, glute bridge barbell in personal training area, the bicep curl EZ bar - all of them have multiple plates. What does the closing staff do? There are plates everywhere! To use machines properly I need to clean up after someone else. Unacceptable. The closing staff should be cleaning up the mess left from the night before. Obviously this is on the members to rerack their weights but staff needs to do a better job at asking this of the members and cleaning up after them if not. Bare minimum would be for the closing staff to re-rack every night. Members need to do a better job at being courteous and treating equipment respectfully as all members use it. And don't get me started on the evening members that all slam their weights. Again- where is the staff telling them not to do this? Only giving it two stars because the equipment itself is decent. But staff and members make it an unenjoyable workout environment. read more

I've been going to this LA fitness since they opened after Covid. It's always clean the staff is always friendly and helpful. Valerie specifically signed me up for personal training sessions. The thing I appreciated the most was that she didn't sell me a fake dream. Never did she make me feel like the training session would help me with my fitness goals alone. She helped me figure out my diet and workouts that would help me get better results and since then I'm down 17 lbs and much stronger. Her fitness plan def kicks my ass. read more

Went to location due to convience due to where I live. I've been a lafittness/balley/chicago health club "executive" level, but now called priemere for 35years. This close location is a so called Signature club. They state it has higher amenities, like towel service NOPE. don't get what some might pay for. But the issue I have with la fittness is they won't honor my top of line executive level membership at this location, and would require a upgrade. I've had my membership rate grandfathered for the last 35 years and all they care about is $$$, not a member for 35YEARS. Called corporate after speaking to locations operation manager and wasn't willing to let me in. Talked to 2 representative at California office, but again got nowhere. Called and left message for top dog at corporate, will see if he cares. This location better look out for members due to lifetime fittness moving a new free standing building 2 lights south, sure it will be much nicer then this location located in strip mall. wouldn't care if I didn't live so close to location. Other 2 regular la fittness are 20-30 minutes away vs. 2 minutes. read more
