The moving company sales manager could not authorize,any type of credit for my concerns. They movers tipped over pieces of furniture which emptied out drawers and just threw everything back in without telling us. A piece of furniture was chipped during the taking off the truck, and nothing was brought to our attention. Hope the damage claim gets better treatment. read more

I hired Fry Wagner Systems to pack and move a number of pre-packed boxes and other household goods from Arnold, Mo to California. Fry Wagner offered a service to pack the boxes and goods into a tote and deliver the tote to California in eight days. I used this service since I did not have the resources in Missouri to handle further packing and shipping through Pod or other self pack/shipping services. Additionally the United Van Lines service provided a specific date for delivery in California instead of its standard 19 day window. Having a specific date instead of a two and half week window is important since I travel for business and not always in California for more than a few days at a time. This is a very expensive alternative, but the only one that worked on my schedule. Initially, Fry Wagner sent me a contract that had a higher amount than the amount on the quote for the pack and move. The contract was signed only after Fry Wagner agreed to the lower amount of the initial quote. Almost immediately, Fry Wagner informed me that the eight day delivery schedule initially promised was not convenient for it or United Van Lines. As such, the delivery date then became ten days from pick-up. The shipment arrived in California on the tenth day after pick-up. When the movers opened the tote, everyone present was very surprised at the condition of the contents of the tote. Even the United Van Lines movers on the California end said that the packing job was incompetent at best. As an example of Fry Wagner's handy work, a mirror box was packed sideways with other boxes stacked on top it. I used my credit card to pay at the time the move instead of a cashier's check. Almost two months after the delivery and payment and without notice or explanation, United Van Lines tried to charge me an additional $205 for the move. Turns out the additional amount is what it tried to charge me on the first contract before I insisted on it honoring its original quote. I had to put a fraud alert on my credit card to stop the payment. More hassles as I had to wait for the bank to set-up a new account and send me a new credit card. United Van Lines refunded the $205 after I called it out for the additional charge. The company apologized and said it was an accounting error. Yeah right, twice. Based on my experience, I recommend extreme caution for use of Fry Wagner or United Van Lines for a move. There seems to be a bait and switch aspect to the way Fry Wagner and United Van Lines do business. Furthermore, United Van Lines tried to charge me an amount above the agreed contract price twice; and its packing service was incompetent. If you hire Fry Wagner and United Van Lines for your move be prepared for administrative trickery and trashed goods. read more

Fry Wagner is affiliated with United who moved me from Abq to Stl. I needed to return but somehow rates won't drop during off season, something about routes and pick-ups-- yah yah. We recently booked a move with Fry-Wagner from St. Louis to San Francisco. In retrospect, I would have never picked this company given the series of issues that followed, resulting in major disruptions to our work and family lives. If you don't read the rest of this review, here's the summary of our experience: Fry Wagner does a very good job up front to sell a service, but falls very short on execution. It seems making a promise and not delivering (literally and figuratively) is a part of the company's practice. The details: After comparing quotes with other movers we decided to go with Fry Wagner because of the "guaranteed" delivery dates we were promised. The move was job-related, and timing of the delivery was the most important priority to us, which we emphasized up front. A summary: 1. We selected a guaranteed dates option and our Fry Wagner Coordinator, let's call him "Bob," very confidently assured us of the delivery dates in the beginning. Two days after our move we were notified the delivery would be delayed, but they could not give us a new date. When I asked "Bob" for details, he was very dismissive and blamed United Van Lines for not having a driver available for our shipment. I got the impression Fry Wagner had not verified if a driver/truck would be available when they "guaranteed" my delivery, and got me to sign a contract under a false promise. Seems an awful lot like a bait and switch operation, and reading through prior reviews I now realize this may be a pattern for this company. I regret not having read through prior reviews before picking Fry Wagner. 2. "Bob" never got back to us with an update and I asked to work with his manager and his Sales Manager "Garett" took over. To his credit, "Garrett" had more information to offer, and basically told us there was now way we would receive our delivery by the guaranteed time. He said he would work with United to get us our belongings soon, but ultimately our things arrived almost 2 weeks after our promised date. 3. During the delay my family only had the belongings we had brought in our suitcases from St. Louis to San Francisco. For the past 2 weeks we've been sleeping on the floor, with no real household belongings to speak of. We have a 4 and 7 year old, and you can imagine the difficulty of this situation, especially when moving into a new city. The delay has also caused disruptions in work for myself and my wife, pretty bad when starting in a new job. 4. "Garrett" finally got us a new delivery date. This was a relief, though the execution was botched and there were more problems during the delivery. 5. Given the move from STL to SFO, we downsized and split up our belongings between an apartment and a self-storage unit. In St. Louis we painstakingly separated out these items, and Fry Wagner was conscientious about labeling things properly. Fry Wagner was supposed to split the shipment into 2 smaller trucks (one for storage unit, the other for our apartment) for efficient delivery. "Garrett" confirmed all this the day before delivery, however this never occurred! 6. As the delivery had not been split up as planned, all our belongings arrived combined in one large trailer and had to be split up on our move-in day. Move-in was supposed to occur over Saturday, but ended up lasting the entire weekend. 7. The parts box (box with nuts, bolts, etc, for our furniture) was packed away by the Fry Wagner crew inside our furniture and could not be found when our movers in California tried to re-assemble the furniture. It is common practice to pack the parts box separately in a clearly labeled box and load it last into the truck (so it comes off first and doesn't get lost). Luckily, the California team (Crown Worldwide, reviewed separately) found the box and returned to re-assemble our furniture. Our ordeal with Fry Wagner still isn't over. As of now no one has unpacked our TVs (we paid for packing and unboxing and Fry Wagner was supposed to send out a 3rd party service). Also, no one from Fry Wagner has been in touch regarding the claims process (delay in delivery, damaged furniture, etc). I would not recommend the company to anyone I know. read more

DO NOT expect quality packing or back end service from Fry Wagner. If your items arrive in one piece understand that this is LUCK. Paid extra for insurance? Doesn't matter. They won't honor it. And they clearly don't care about client reviews- they have MANY experiences just like mine documented here. Fry Wagner does not know how or does not care to pack fragile items appropriately. A 3ft tall vase from my mother-in-laws' estate was packed in paper- no bubble wrap, peanuts etc at all. They placed the vase ON TOP of a much smaller item in the same box (!) and unsurprisingly the vase was completely smashed despite the box having no exterior damage. Other items were misdirected- and Fry Wagner is refusing to pay to deliver to the appropriate address across the country based on an inventory they created that has exactly NO detail about what goes where. I wonder why it's so devoid of information? Yeah. IF you choose to use Fry Wagner- make sure you take PHOTOS of everything and force them to appropriately inventory & pack your items. You're going to need the receipts for EVERYTHING you own in order to get anything from them. And if that doesn't sound like a very trustworthy organization- there you go. read more

This company was 5star from assessment to delivery!!! The Team who packed our belongings were friendly and efficient. The packers who put everything on the truck were careful, professional, and friendly. The drivers were outstanding: organizing the tasks, driving carefully and timely, and delivering our goods completely. I've used United Moving company several times prior, and this local United affiliate added to my comfort and ease of moving. I highly recommend this company. My name is Sue Wallace We had Fry-Wagner move us from St Louis to Farmington, MO on June 4-5. The driver of the van that loaded our stuff hit a telephone pole about 2 miles from our house, completely mashing in the right side of the truck and damaging many pieces of our furniture; over 28, and also we are actually missing items such as part of my husband's weight set and his power supplies for his movie theater seats, among other things. They offered us a very, very small compensation for the damage (going with their standard .60 on the pound, when there was a van accident, with their driver being negligible, not a mover scratching your curio cabinet). We have six pieces to our bedroom set; five of them are damaged. There is a lamp that is completely shattered. A speaker not only has the black covering on the front all ripped, but also mashed in the speaker front behind the covering. Scratches and gouges on my mother's 65 year old piano, as well as the piano bench. I have written to and left a voice mail for, the President of the company with absolutely no response, not even, 'we are sorry about your damage'. His name is Larry Fry, the company is Fry-Wagner, and the Corporate office is in Lenexa, KS/ Kansas City area. Please, if you value your property and expect a company to compensate you fairly when significant damage occurs and treat you like a valued customer, do NOT use Fry-Wagner for future moving needs. Quite a disgrace from a company that won a Fleet Excellence award for their driving skills a couple years ago and a Customer Service award this year, I believe. We have moved internationally four times and interstate three times-our recent move from St Louis to Galveston Texas was DEPLORABLE, much worse than any move we have ever done. Fry Wagner, agent for United Van Lines and UNIGROUP, was absolutely hopeless in terms of speed of service, quality of packing, and customer relations. First, our possessions were packed up and split into two shipments, against our desire and to accommodate their scheduling. The second shipment arrived 45 days after their packing in STL. Their packing was inadequate-nearly all furniture was damaged due to limited use of padding; all wardrobes were stuffed and thus collapsed with clothing in a big pile, and items like large lamps, lampshades,etc destroyed. One cabinet, a part of a four piece bedroom set, was totaled-it appears that the base was hit by a fork lift. A large and heavy ceramic coffee table was damaged at each corner and the two pedestals crushed. It goes on and on; well over $10K in damage. I did not take insurance and it sounds like from other reviews herein that I would have wasted more money as I doubt they honor any promises. They also lost several important items and then ghosted us when we asked about those. In a word, their packing service was WRECKLESS. Communications from them during the 45 day delay were abysmal; one coordinator simply resigned our project and kicked it upstairs to UNIGROUP. Now, they expect to be paid the full amount; we shall see about that! read more

I actually called a friend and asked who she used for her move and would she recommend. She answered "Fry-Wagner" and she would definitely recommend. I was pleased on how accommodating they were. Estimate was high but the truck size, need for a four man team was spot on but it took shorter amount of time. The movers were professional. Very understanding of the stress that comes with moving and willing to work with us on location of furniture in new house. I remember commenting on how they constantly communicate as a team. Fry-Wagner Moving and Storage have not covered damages to our personal items after the move. The movers placed boxes on top of and in front of our brand new washer and dryer. Both were dented by Fry-Wagner movers. The washing machine is dented so badly, it bangs during any spin cycle because the inside drum hits the dented exterior surface. Fry-Wagner will not support our claim because we did not report it damaged at the end of the moving day. Of course we could not see the damage as boxes were on top of and in front of the appliances. We discovered it after a day when we began emptying boxes and moved them from the appliances. We reported the damage immediately and three weeks later we are told it cannot be proved they did it. So now we are out almost $2000 for damaged BRAND NEW washer and dryer. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS MOVING COMPANY!!!! read more

Somehow F-W's response was deleted when I attempted to update this but in short, sounds like I'm out of luck. Doesn't make sense that the onus of accounting for all the boxes they moved would be solely on the customer. They have an electronic tracking system that accounts for/"checks off" all the boxes they bring in. Their system was down the day of our move. Moving was chaotic so did our best to manually track, but having the electronic system to cross-reference is obviously important and helpful. We alerted F-W to the missing boxes/items, as well as the electronic issue. We also bought the most expensive insurance and were told they would cover any items lost or broken. Never hire Fry-Wagner to move your belongings. They're slow, don't prepare the flooring to avoid damage and damage the furniture. The company won't settle claims for damage. I wish we never used them. I'll never use them again or recommend them. They damaged our dining room table, dresser and soiled our brand new carpet and the company won't pay for repairs. Worst move we have ever experienced and I have moved several times over my career. This move was from St. Louis to Colorado. Lots of damaged items. Some were repaired, but not all could be repaired. I had 4 ladders that were loaded together, but the newest and nicest one didn't arrive, however it was checked off on the list as being delivered. Several moving boxes didn't arrive. We are still trying to determine what was in the boxes that were lost. read more

Bad Bad Bad! Team of unprofessional people. I moved from Atlanta to Chicago. Coordinating with them was always so tough. 2 guys came at my home to pack everything. They were not packing but throwing everything in boxes. there were 2 boxes which I packed a night before. I asked them to pack these in the same boxes to that they are not missed. They did not packed it in box and decided to take those boxes as-is. When everything was delivered in CHICAGO, they did not delivered those 2 boxes and now they are saying take 300$ as claim. After explaining so many time that those 2 boxes had lot much in it. they are not ready to listen. Their claim team is even more hopeless, in this kind of situation they will just send one email per day rather then calling customer and coordinate. Stressful experience. Our furniture was picked up March 29th, 2017, promised by April 14th, 2017. Still no furniture and the only explanation is "we can't get a driver.", "we are working on it". Absolutely the poorest resolution system I have ever seen. The only response we receive is when we initiate the call. "We have a driver picking up Wednesday(today)"...my husband just emailed them...."NO DRIVER, we're working on it! My question is, "what exactly are you working on because it certainly isn't getting any results!" How ridiculous of an answer! If you want your furniture and prompt, PROFESSIONAL service....I DO NOT recommend this outfit! Bad business practices. I was forced to use Fry Wagner for a corporate move from Atlanta to Phoenix. The move coordinator REFUSED to listen to me when I stated it took 2 movers 8 hours to pack us during our previous move and ensured me they could complete the job in 3-4 hours. After days of arguing, the move coordinator finally agreed to send one additional mover. The movers at the origin location showed up 4 hours late and took 7 hours to pack us. The delivery date of our goods was changed 3 times. We had 43 items broken and 6 missing. While unpacking our goods, it was very obvious there was little to no care given to them. In fact it seemed some items were treated with disrespect. Fortunately for Fry Wagner, my company has a contract with them, otherwise I would not willingly do business with them in the future. In my two moves with them; they have refused to listen to me both times; the moving companies they do business with are poor at best, save a few; I have had more damage done to my goods than I thought possible. read more

The origination team that was sent to pack and load my household was one of the most professional, kind, and courteous teams of movers I've had (and I have moved about every 6-12 months for 20 years). And though the destination team experienced some delays (due to the holiday) they put my needs as a customer above all else, regardless if that meant waiting or spending extra time on the care of my delivery without rushing on to the next schedule of jobs. My husbands vehicle was shipped from Kentucky to Austin, Texas over 1st of July weekend 2017. The car was delivered to us in the late afternoon between 3-5pm on Monday July 3, 217. My husband did not go to work on Tuesday July 4 in observance of the 4th of July holiday. Wednesday July 5, my husband went to work with nearly a 50 mile total commute and then attended my nephews baseball game that evening when he noticed damage to the passenger side roof of our vehicle. At that moment we were on the phone with our relocation counselor and we reported the damage. The car was driven to work on Thursday and Friday after the damage was reported and then to an auto body shop for an estimate. The auto body shop confirmed that there was NO other damage to the vehicle except a huge dent on the roof of the vehicle where something incredibly heavy was pressed down on top. Fry-Wagner refused to pay the claim because it was outside of their 24-hour report damage window. They acknowledge that no damage was recorded to the vehicle when it was picked up in Kentucky and essentially said that they won't pay the claim because of their loophole. I will NEVER use this company or any associated in doing business with them. We have had mechanic after mechanic confirm that the damage was likely done by a car carrier and only a car carrier due to the rust and the nature of the damage in the spot on the roof of the car. It's just a shame that they hide behind their loophole instead of doing the right thing and fixing their mistake. read more

Awful communication and service even when my parents were supposed to get VIP service from an upper executive of Fry-Wagner. Fry-Wagner packed the house into one truck and called my parents two days later saying they split it into two trucks -- no notice of the possibility of this action was ever given. The delivery window to the new house was June 8-11. When Fry-Wagner called and told my parents about the splitting of their belongings, they indicated the second truck was no longer guaranteed to be within the original delivery window. What about THAT makes sense?! Nothing. Fry-Wagner assured them that what they deemed as "essentials" would be on the first delivery. Well that first truck got there a day later than planned because the truck's starter went out. In the meantime, the representative from Fry-Wagner called my parents to tell them the second truck wouldn't be there until June 21st - 10 day AFTER the end of the original delivery window. Try again, Fry-Wagner. According to the Fry-Wagner rep, she "sweet talked" (her words) the driver of the second truck and the second truck arrived this afternoon (June 13th), but with the load in completely damaged condition (see picture in comments below). This all of course doesn't even begin to touch the hassles my parents have had to go through, particularly of spending hundreds of extra dollars rearranging hotels on their road trip to their new location and waiting for Fry-Wagner to show up, as well as buying extra "essentials" that did NOT come on the first truck as promised. I have truly waited to write a review because I was so upset and didn't want that to reflect on my comments. However, they moved me only 35 miles. The number of items damaged is unbelievable. I purchased the full insurance package, but was then told because I didn't have original receipts for everything only 30% would be covered. Well, they didn't even cover that. My kitchen table is damaged, a chair is broken, my entertainment center is damaged, sewing table damaged beyond repair, shelving broken or damaged, rolling carts damaged - need I continue? THEN they sent out someone to assess the damage, and he never came back to repair the items. I called several times, but no response. Oh they sent a settlement check, which will not even begin to replace the items or repair those that may be repairable but could never get back to their original condition. So I now have to buy several pieces of furniture. In addition, they give you ten days to assess your damage. Trying to get settled into a new place one cannot find everything in that amount of time. I have since realized that they broke a part of one of my living room chairs. It is underneath the chair and it is one I don't use regularly, so when I had a guest over after a few weeks - guess what? Run - don't walk - away! read more

Fry-Wagner helped me with a recent move. It was a 2 part process where I had to be out of the old house on the 18th and didn't have access to the new house until the 4th of the following month. Fry-Wagner helped us with a storage container for the small items and then loaded all my large things onto a truck and stored both until I had access to the new house. They were very professional and curtious. Always organized and available when I needed them to move into the new house with only a few days notice. They were wonderful and I would highly recommend them to anyone needed any type of moving service. I am in Real Estate and they are the best movers I have had the pleasure of working with. I am sad to say we had a terrible experience with these movers. The customer service portion was great - easy to get a quote - very nice to work to get things scheduled and even when they arrived for the move, they were pleasant. However, the amount of damage that the movers did to our brand new home (scratched, chipped, scuffed hardwood, chipped concrete on the front step, damaged front doorway) and MULTIPLE pieces of furniture damdaged during the move soured the entire experience. Beyond that, the movers asked to use my husband's tools, cut up our boxes without asking and thought it was ok to slide my son's mattress down the stairs as a way to move it leaving it to crash at the bottom. I would NOT recommend them and would love to save anyone from the terrible experience we had. read more

Fry-Wagner moved us from St. Louis, MO to Anderson, IN. We did most of the packing ourselves and the movers did a great job in getting our belongings here without incident. While the same driver carried our load to Anderson, it was my understanding that he would be picking up men from Indianapolis to unload. While the young men were courteous, they appeared to be in a big hurry to unload ( it was late afternoon on a Saturday) and did not pay attention to boxes marked "fragile" or "fragile--do not stack" and other boxes were stacked on top of them. The only loss was a one piece glass lampshade that might be difficult to replace. Otherwise, satisfied with Fry-Wagner. read more

Fry-Wagner was recommended to me by a friend that used them previously. In the beginning everyone was very helpful and informative. They sent someone out to my house to provide an estimate prior to my move. The estimate seemed very accurate and fair. I moved from MO to TX on July 29th and have not heard from the moving company once. It stated in my contract that my belongings would be delivered on August 17th. I have talked to three extremely rude and dishonest employees within the customer service division in the past 2 days. I am without my furniture and no where to stay until they decide to locate my furniture. Everyone keeps telling me it is in transit with no potential date of arrival. It stated in my contract my belongings would be delivered on the 17th. Still have not heard from anyone when my belongings will be delivered. I have never been spoken to so poorly from a reputable company in my life. I am beyond disappointed and extremely upset that they have no level of respect or even seem to be apologetic for what they are putting me through. I will never in my life use them again or ever recommend them to anyone. I honestly believe my belongings have never left MO and they will continue to tell me they are in transit for the next two weeks. If I could actually speak with someone there that knows what they are talking about and can actually help that would be ideal. I wont hold my breath. Even after I told them I would not be able to move into my apartment without belongings no one even offered a solution. This is a HUGE mistake and problem on their hands and not one person wants to take responsibility for it. read more
