I received a great cut from Marissa. The price was reasonable, as well. I got a haircut and wash was $30.00, however, I was a new customer and received a $10.00 coupon. I've been holding off on writing this review because I really hoped my hair would look better after a few weeks. Unfortunately, that hasn't been the case, and I'm still unhappy with the cut. The stylist was nice, but the haircut itself was poorly done. The layers sit on top of each other instead of being blended, and the overall result looks uneven and unfinished. This is not what I asked for at all. My bangs were cut last, and although I specifically requested curtain bangs, I received something completely different. It looks like I caught fire with my hair... I'm especially upset because there's nothing I can do to fix this right now -- I have to wait for my hair to grow out before it can be corrected elsewhere. On top of that, I was charged $55 for a blowout without being informed that it would cost extra. At my regular salon, this service is included. It also wasn't a professional blowout: the tools were old, the dryer was outdated, and I left with messy hair instead of a well-shaped blowout. I usually go to a different salon, but this location was closer to my home and more convenient, so I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, I regret that decision. I'll be waiting a few months for my hair to grow out and then returning to my regular salon to fix it. read more

came in for a blow out and left with what seemed like a mediocre but barely formed blow out. I liked the curls but it was very messy. While running my hands through my hair I felt loose Matts/knots at the roots of my hair. Afterwards the stylist did mention I had breakage on my money piece -yes bleach could weaken it but considering the way my hair was handled I don't think so. The reason I'm leaving this review... While trying to lightly hand comb the knots, a chunk of my hair plucked right off and at the end of a bunch of dried product ! Now it makes sense... Save yourself a headache and your hair! I feel they should retrain staff or find a way to ensure this does not happen to someone else. read more

I got my hair cut at this location today. I had made an appointment, and they were immediately ready for me. Maria was so great - so gentle, totally understood what haircut I wanted, and gave me lots of encouragement and compliments. The salon was spotless, and the music was soothing. The whole process of shampoo and hair cut was just over 30 minutes, which fit into my schedule very well. I will definitely return to this location! read more

I went in for a haircut. The man at the front (possibly the owner, he's always there) said there was an 11:30 appointment but the stylist said she would take me (I got there around 11:20 for walk in). She spent maybe 10 minutes on my hair. She didn't wash it since I had just showered and she didn't blow dry it. Yet, I was charged $40 even though online prices are $30. My husband went in earlier this week and also paid the $30. I came home and still had some very long strands of hair. Overall, I am not happy. I do not recommend this place at all. read more

I do not recommend color products at this location. I rarely write a review but Layla would not stop arguing and trying to convince me that she was "right," when my hair actually looked worse than when I had arrived. I could go on and on, but there is no point. Trust me when I say, be extremely careful if you want anything beyond a hair cut because it is extremely expensive and damaging to your hair if you need to try to fix something done wrong. Lexi did an amazing job on my 12 year old daughter's long hair. She cut the right length and layered it beautifully. She also noticed her hair was dry and suggested a conditioning treatment which made her hair looked so soft and shiny! Definitely recommend. read more

How rude! I brought my kids for an overdue haircut this afternoon, and the lady asked me to write down my kids' names on a sticky note. I politely declined, and she seemed unhappy about it. Then she asked, "Do you have cash? If you pay with card, I need your information to put in my system." When I asked why, she said, "I need to know who you are." I come to this Fantastic Sam's for Lexi! She has been doing my hair for 2 yrs now and I have followed her since the beginning. Lexi is amazing with color and cuts. She has done amazing things with my highlights, lowlights, touch-ups, etc..... and my hair isn't easy. It's graying, baby fine and not a lot of it. I always get compliments after she does it. I'm regretting trying this place after the ownership change, and my experience was bad enough that I strongly feel a review is needed to give anyone considering this location a heads up, and maybe this can be a learning opportunity for this business going forward. I came in needing a simple trim on my ends and I was told Stepan was going to do my service. It was extremely awkward from the very beginning, and by the end I was left both shocked and annoyed at what I just sat through. I already washed my hair before I left my house so it was still wet and ready to get trimmed, and when he asked what I was wanting done, I said I needed a trim and I didn't want more than an inch taken off. It was awkwardly quiet the entire time he lethargically was trimming my hair. I'm sitting in a chair having an emotionless mute cutting my hair and all I can say is it was AWKWARD and UNCOMFORTABLE. I tried to start a conversation by asking about the new branding/remodel and if the old stylists still worked there, but he directed my question to another employee and that was the end of that. Once he finished cutting my ends, without saying anything, he handed me a mirror, and all I kept thinking was what is wrong with this guy? I then said to him these exact words... "Looks good. Can I get my hair dried? I know it's an extra cost--that's fine." (I already know how Fantastic Sam's' pricing is, so I knew a blow dry/style costs additional to a cut.) Stepan gets a brush out and starts "drying" my hair--if you could even call it that. I cannot express enough how much it felt like he #1, doesn't know what he's doing, both in blow drying hair AND how to be a hairstylist professional in general, and #2 doesn't know or care how his entire demeanor comes off to people sitting in his chair. After the halfa**ed effort to dry my hair, he put the dryer down and that was it. I'm sitting there looking at a half dried mess of hair not even parted the way it should be (nor was I even asked a very basic/standard hairstylist question of: How do you want your hair parted?), and that's how I was supposed to walk out of there. A half-dried mess. I couldn't get away from this guy fast enough. I got to the register and there was a male and female there. They could clearly see I wasn't happy and asked if everything was ok. I said no, not really, and do they actually have people leave there looking the way I did? They stated that the drying/styling service was additional and I said I knew that, and I told Stepan already when he was done trimming my ends I was fine to pay the extra charge to have my hair dried. I was not expecting to have a misunderstanding of what "drying" meant to these people. Stepan came over to the counter and said he dried me that way because to do it the way I was wanting, it was an additional price. I already said I was ok with paying the additional cost, and Stepan said he didn't hear me say that. This guy has major communication issues. I'm pretty sure I made it clear I was ok to pay more to get my hair dried, so I'm not sure how he didn't hear me, but I'm now realizing this guy not only has a communication problem with people to actually have dialogue with them, he isn't listening to them either. The male and female at the counter offered to have my service completed the way I was wanting, but I did NOT want to get in Stepan's chair again. It was bad enough to sit through the first time, and I was not wanting to go back to someone who was being defensive with me and making me feel like I was the one who was wrong with what just happened. I paid and left and I will NOT be coming back. Stepan has horrible people skills, and by the end of it, his disingenuous apology followed up with comments on how he already apologized so what more do I want, and his annoyance that I was as unhappy as I was, I literally could not get out of there fast enough. Stepan needs to figure out how to humble himself and be more open to ways he can improve himself going forward to avoid another situation like this one. AVOID THIS STYLIST. To the new Fantastic Sam's owner: Hire people with the personality and level of professionalism ANYONE would expect of a hair stylist. It's not good for business to have people sit uncomfortably in a chair with a "stylist" that has zero conversational skills, zero "people skills", and ZERO LISTENING skills, because this entire experience was caused by the most unexpected noncommunication between the hairstylist and the person in their chair. read more

Marisa is amazing !!!! During my visit she took the time to understand what needed to be done. She also made some recommendations that truly help fix the mess I made when I colored my hair at home. Her years of experience and knowledge working with different hair types truly made the difference. Marisa was able to get ride of harsh dark black color and added some nice highlights without damaging my hair. She is amazing !!! Schedule appointment with her for more complex needs. Also let's not forgot the overall experience, they were quick and efficient and very welcoming. It's certainly nice to see courtesy still exists. Although this same location as the previous fantastic Sams, it's not the same owner or the same business. Inside the salon is clean and organized, I highly recommend and will continue to visit this location for all my hair care needs. The worst haircut I have ever gotten in my life. Eden cut one side shorter than the other side, and layers only on one half of my hair. I asked for the sides to be longer than the back, but Eden did the opposite of what I asked her to do.
