I stopped going to Parks Salon about a year and a half ago and wanted to update my Yelp review. I loved the services offered by the esthetician Shelley, but was not happy with the salon. After years of going to the salon to for facials and waxings along with product purchases and jewelery I decided to get my hair cut and colored at Parks. I would think they'd treat their loyal customers a bit better but I was given a $275+ haircut/color (which included a coupon discount!), and then was pushed $150 worth of products. The owner knew I was shocked and not happy. I told her I take responsibility for not asking the price of a cut and color in advance, but usually its between $120 - 175 or so at other places and that's fine. But all over the SCV, I've never paid close to $300! She apologized and said she'd call me later that week for an event where they're offering special clients a deep conditioning treatment and blow out. I never got the call, and I never came back. I could have gotten over the $300 haircut and color - whatever, that's kinda my bad. I should have asked for a breakdown of all the costs in advance. And prepared myself financially by taking a 2nd out on my house. But the fact that they tried to offer a gesture of goodwill and never followed up on it? Done. Not a fan. At all. read more

I walked in on a whim after lunch at Telly's with my hubby. He had headed in to the Barber shop and I didn't want to be more straggly than he, so I took a chance and walked in to see if I could get a cut. I'd been growing out a very short, multi-layered cut and it was at least three months past due for me to something. Anything... Fortunately, while I stood at the reception desk, a call came in to reschedule the appt five minutes hence, so I lucked out and received a terrific bob from a talented young lady from Fillmore. (I apologize so much! I washed your card but loved your work... She's tallish with long, dark hair and has a lovely smile, and does super cuts. :) Anyway, $55 and tip later, I walked out much more chic and I think I've found my new SCV salon. As for ambience, the place was small, spotless, and quiet and the receptionist was a sweetie. Perfect for me since I'm a no drama mama! Thanks Parks. My visit ended up as a very pleasant surprise. read more

Tony is one of the best colorists and stylists in town! Period. End of story. He is an artist who can take your ideas and make them work with your face shape, skin color, and hair type. His intimate salon studio is a calm space, without the overpowering smells and noise of a crowded salon. It's absolutely perfect for anyone who's apprehensive about being indoors with a lot of people as we emerge from the pandemic. read more

I waited over a month to write this, not on purpose but I think I can give a better review since time has gone by. Tony took my idea of what I wanted and made it into a sustainable, natural look. It looks like the day after I got it done and I love it. It is easy to care for and it feels healthier than when I went in. Shelley (formerly Shindelus) Garite gave me one of the most relaxing and beneficial facials! She has an special touch and has had years of experience and trained in many areas of skincare. She uses only the best skincare products to give you the best results. I highly recommend Shelley for facials, microdermabrasion, and waxing. She will customize any service. In addition to Shelley being 5Star the Salon itself is very nice and the staff is very friendly. They have a great selection of beauty products. read more

I absolutely love this salon. All the staff are very personable, kind, and are so easy to work with. I have been getting my hair done by Tony for many years and I am always 100% satisfied with the outcome of my hair. All the stylists at Parks Salon are fantastic. I have been going there for 5 years now and would never go anywhere else. In fact my whole family gets their hair done at Parks. I used to go here until the owner drove every single one of his employees away. I had to go find my hairdresser at a new salon. I am not interested in the details, but I have noticed that the salon has moved to a much smaller location and is not open much. When I was a client of this salon (when it was over by Wolf Creek) it was VERY uncomfortable with all the tension in the place. Not a very nice, relaxing atmosphere. read more

Ok and Pricey with a capital P! What can you say about a salon who could be great if their rates were more affordable? Haircut and color retouch for $150. Nice and intimate salon, service is great until you get sticker shock with the bill! Always got stung as I leave. This is even without me buying product that you insist you should have. They try to up sell you all the time and it was starting to be very uncomfortable. My color and my hair was not thrashed but price is like heart attack for the wallet. read more

If you need your hair cut, Karen is the person to see. I recently went because my sister recommended this place, and she was totally correct this place rocks. They remember you, they make you feel super comfortable, its just the best experience i have ever had cutting my hair. And of course, My hair cut was Great !! I definitely recommend going. I have been a client of this salon for many years and always have a wonderful experience. I absolutely trust them for a great haircut and color every time, along with a wonderful shampoo and head massage...I have also experimented with different, shorter styles in past years and they were perfectly executed. I enjoy the salon's atmosphere and ever-changing seasonal decor. They also have fun client appreciation events and VIP nights. We also used Parks Salon to get us styled and ready on my wedding day this past March - they went above and beyond to accomodate me, my mom, and 3 bridesmaids. They even allowed my preferred make-up artist from another salon to come in and set-up for the day. It was so fun. Great salon, great people! read more

I am xtremly picky about my blond hair. The girl that I had been going to for years went on maternity leave and I was referred to Esther. As always, when I try someone new I was nervous and scared. Esther sat me down asked a few questions - She didn't tell me what a "bad job" the last girl had done (which I hate when people do, because it makes me feel like I've wasted $250+) She went to work - My hair color and cut are exceptional. I've been going to Parks Salon for over three years. I love it! It's run by a husband and wife team - Tony and Manse Parks. They are wonderful people! They know me by name when I call and treat me like family when I show up to get my hair cut. I have never had a bad haircut there. In fact, they are the only salon that I trust to cut my hair. Tony Parks takes great pride in his work and trains his staff to be the very best! Paige is my ultimate favorite...she gives me a scalp massage when she shampoos my hair....it's heaven! I've been going to this salon for years along with my sister and my mom. WE SPEND TONS OF MONEY HERE!!!! you would think that since we bring so much business and money into their family owned salon they would treat us a little better. For my mom's wedding they totally took advantage of her and the fact she wanted to try a couple different hair styles. They have great stylist but the owner doesnt know what hes doing when it comes to honoring his loyal clients or treating his employees with respect. I loved Joelissa but i take my business to salon by spectrum club now... I pay about 150$ less for my hair now and she treats me like i deserve to be treated. read more

I have had my hair done by Tony, the owner of Parks Salon for almost ten years, starting at their old location near Ralphs on McBean/Decoro, and moving with them to their new place. I have naturally blond, curly hair, which is not easy to cut so it looks great unstyled or blown out - but Tony has always done a fabulous job! He manages to do it the same way and yet slightly differently every time, so it's never boring but it's always "me". The staff is very friendly, and one of the ladies did excellent Cinderella hairdos for my little daughter. It's a great place for families, and my daughter has loved going to Tony's ever since her first hair cut (and yes, she has curly blond hair too, that's really challenging to comb out!). Parks Salon is always clean and neat, and nicely decorated (well, the Halloween decoration is too scary for us, but I realize that's a matter of taste...). I can only recommend Parks Salon for anyone who wants to be really happy with their hair. read more
