    Scallion pancakes

A classy sit-down and be served restaurant, with comfy booths and several large group tables. We came at a non busy time. Waited less than a minute to be seated. Service was prompt and friendly. Food was excellent. We started with the scallion pancakes, delicate and flaky with perfect level of oiliness. The scallion flavor was hearty and these don't need any sauce. It was a fine app for two and only $5.25. I had the salt and pepper grouper which had a nice battering, not too thick, and lovely seasoning including a generous scattering of jalapeños. I asked for some hot chili oil on the side to kick them up a little more and it was perfect. My husband had grouper with black bean sauce in the clay pot. Sauce was delicious and mild and had plenty of well cooked onion and pepper slices. We were both very pleased. Portions were generous and we took some home. Our leftovers were boxed up for us on request, and the bill for two entrees, one app, two beers and a soda was $58. So it's easy on the wallet, but of course you can splurge on the live seafood. As we were getting ready to leave we saw them bringing in lobsters and huge crabs to restock the tank. Doesn't get much fresher than that. The restrooms were clean and stocked and handicap accessible. I'm glad we finally tried this restaurant and will definitely return.

What an amazing surprised that I have in Dayton. Visiting the town for the week and I had a chance to check out this little gem . The restaurant is spacious with a lot of tables and beautiful decorations. I love the simple but elegant look. The food is amazing and authentic, they have a lot of vegetarian options if you are looking for that. The service is speedy and very attentive. The one item thag you must order is their salt and pepper tofu, it is so die forrrr. Definitely , recommend the place for everyone.

Great selection of food and affordably priced. We ordered a bit too much and ended up taking some leftovers home. Still tasted great the next day. Friendly service, the guy working the door is nice and attentive. Recommend you visit Fu Mon Lau if you get the hungries for Chinese food!

Got take out from Fu Mon Lau after seeing all the good reviews. It was ready in about 20 minutes, and packaged well. My SO got the chicken and broccoli. I tried the sesame chicken, and we split crab rangoons. Overall, it was pretty good. Sesame chicken had lighter breading than at some other restaurants, but that was oddly appealing. Very large menu, so I would be interested in trying more entrees. Prices were super reasonable for the amount of food. I would recommend this place if you're looking for a place with a good mix of different types of Asian food.

Highlight: Beef Ho Fan ($13.95), Chicken with Mixed Vegetable ($13.95), Salt & Pepper Chicken ($14.95), Braised Beef Brisket in Clay Pot ($17.95), Sizzling Scallop w. Black Pepper Sauce ($22.95), Stir-Fried Pea Tips w. Garlic ($16.95) One of the few places in Dayton that offers Chinese dishes. All of the dishes came out hot and steamy. Had a homey taste and overall well seasoned. Lots of variety on the menu, ranging from meats to veggie dishes. Portions sized well, good for large groups. Hospitality: Fast service, I like that the food came out as it was ready. Honorable Mention: They offer live seafood in water tanks.

This place is a gem! The food was amazing--especially the lobster, which was super fresh and came straight from their live tank. You can really taste the quality. The service was excellent too--staff was friendly and very attentive. Can't wait to come back!

Pretty standard Chinese fare. Fresh fish on the side and the usual options. Tasty, big venue, loved the fish Family tried something called Bigmouth fish and we loved it.

Fu Mon Lau is a hidden gem. Nice decor and sesame chicken was excellent. Love that they give you a brown rice alternative to white rice.

When we arrived, there was no host and it was several minutes before anyone came to seat us. Dinner was just as disappointing as our lack of a host. The wonton soup seemed watered down and the wontons had very little filling. Instead of chicken and vegetables, I received a plate with intestines, chicken and shrimp. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. My husband ordered fried rice as it is usually tasty, but the rice seemed overcooked and very clumpy as was my side serving of fried rice. The place looks like it needs a good cleaning. The dust is years worth of dust and is very thick. The restrooms also needed tending to as my restroom has lots of toilet paper on the floor. I guess we have overlooked its shortcomings for years, but since I was complaining about the food, I might as well include its great need of cleaning and attention. It looks like they haven't cleaned since they remodeled many years ago.

When I walked in the atmosphere was great, I could smell good food and heard conversations. There's a large area with large round tables to right and to the left are booths and almost all of them were full. The menu was a mix of Americanized Chinese, traditional Chinese and included Dim Sum as well. There were a number of dishes we didn't know much about and there were dishes being enjoyed by other customers that looked delicious. The wait staff was more than happy to explain the dishes and/or show us on the menu what someone was eating. They took very good care of us and shared the tasks of bringing our food, filling water, and just checking in. Now the food. The food came out very quickly! We all received a well filled bowl of rice. First out was the string beans, perfectly cooked, not droopy, and the flavors of garlic and hot peppers. Even though the peppers were there the heat was not overpowering at all. Next was the shredded pork with garlic sauce. The textures of the pork and bamboo shoots were a nice contrast and the sauce was perfectly balanced and craveable. The special grilled lamb, I was told, was some of the best in the city. It was tender and well spiced. Even when he said he was full he just couldn't stop eating it. For the dim sum order we got the shrimp dumplings, soup dumplings, scallion pancake, and sesame balls and they brought a soy sauce and a chili oil with them. The shrimp dumplings were tender but the dough was pretty sticky. I think this is normal and they were tasty with some of the oil on them. The scallion pancakes were very thin and gummy, this is the only thing we ordered that I would not get again. The soup dumplings were very small but packed a lot of flavor. The dough did stick together a bit so unfortunately some of the soup did leak out. The sesame balls were the hit and we're just the right amount of sweetness that we considered them desert. They were large, at least 2" in size, with a wonderful sesame seed covered exterior and a soft, sweet center. Chuan Jiang Hao Zi is a wonderful somewhat hidden gem. If you want traditional Chinese cuisine including all the different offal they have it and I would totally try it here over anyone else if I was brave enough. Portions were a good size for the price. I highly recommend checking them out!
