A hidden gem in Dayton, of all places. I haven't had many Asian restaurants of any kind that tasted authentic in Dayton, but this is one of the few. The noodles are actually made in-house and have a lovely texture. I got the Classic Lanzhou Beef Noodle Soup and was definitely not disappointed. The broth is light, but full of flavor at the same time. It is truly very comforting on a cold winter night. I think the beef slices on there are a bit tough, but it's not too big of an issue. The portion sizes are actually crazy. I got the regular size and could finish maybe just half to 2/3 of the noodles, along with a majority of the beef. I can't imagine how massive the large bowl would be... For health, I also ordered some stir-fried bok choy. This was stir fried well, but I'm not really sure what the flavor profile was supposed to be. Is it garlic? Is it spicy? I couldn't really place it. I have been a regular customer at Kungfu Noodle for a long time and, because of my work schedule, I eat here almost every day. Unfortunately, a recent experience has convinced me that I will not be returning. I placed an order and requested "no meat, more vegetables." I was told that the kitchen was unwilling to provide extra vegetables unless I paid an additional charge. What disappointed me most was not the charge itself, but the attitude behind it. It felt as though reasonable customer requests were viewed as an inconvenience rather than something to accommodate. This is also not the first time I have heard kitchen staff complaining about customer requests. In the past, I have overheard complaints about customers asking for less salt or making other simple modifications to their meals. As a long-time customer, it is extremely disappointing to hear staff openly express frustration toward paying customers for such basic requests. The attitude was unprofessional and unfriendly. After repeatedly hearing complaints from the kitchen about customer orders, it becomes difficult to feel confident about how special requests are handled behind the scenes. I have supported this restaurant for a long time, but this experience has left me feeling unwelcome and disrespected. This was husband's first time eating here while I've been here twice with friends. He must've enjoyed it because he ate all of the noodles and sipped half of the broth! How the heck have I not reviewed this place yet?! Because when I tell you they have the best noodles I've ever had, I'm not kidding! The dan dan hand pulled noodles are my favorite dish in all of Dayton, maybe of all time! The noodles are bouncy, fresh, and the perfect vehicle for that nutty, velvety sauce. The chili oil - out of this world! The crunch of the veggie in the noodles (they look like green beans but I think it's a type of small pepper) are my favorite bits. The meat is sweet and salty and absolutely delicious! The sweet bbq sausages are a yummy starter too! Sweet and tangy and a great price. This place is a true hole in the wall. The hostesses are always so kind and I've seen a man demonstrate how he makes the pulled noodles almost every time I'm picking up my order. Inside is cozy and clean. This authentic Asian restaurant is attached to an Asian market, which is always a good sign. The inside is rather small with only a few tables. We placed an order to-go and walked around the market while it was prepared. We ordered dumplings, chicken fried rice, and chicken noodle stir fry. Lunch portions are around $10. The chicken fried rice was hearty, but a bit bland. I added a significant amount of sriracha to give it more flavor. My SO really enjoyed the chicken noodle stir fry. I didn't taste it, so I can't comment but she mentioned the sauce tasting really good. The dumplings weren't good at all. The dough was too soggy, essentially falling apart and the filling was too dry. We only tried one each and threw the rest out. Overall, our experience was hit and miss, hence 3 stars. The fried rice was amazing. My recommendations is to only eat that. The soups we had the wonton and the braze beef separately and they both tasted like water. This was not a one time only event. I have gone twice before this and the soup still tasted like water. I don't know where the seasoning went. I will have to say the food is the most authentic and traditional Asian dishes right from Dayton but recipes straight from traditional Asia signatures dishes. The service was definitely a five star based on the fact that we arrived and was immediately greeted with a bright smile from our server Maria. The appetizers were served in less than 10 minutes. The entrees were brought out to us piping hot in less than 15 minutes. The food was absolutely amazing. We ordered pan fried dumplings and steamed dumplings. The dumplings came with a soy and rice vinegar sauce homemade from scratch. We ordered the garlic bok choy which was super fresh and full of flavors. Highly recommended the bok choy. We ordered sides of the cucumbers and the pickled cabbage. The cucumbers were a good start to the meal. It was fresh and lightly season with spices. The pickled cabbage was aged well. I have been searching for an authentic Chinese handmade noodle place forever and now I found one even though it's 100 miles away from where I live. Unbelievable gourmet dishes that are authentic. The spiciness I requested had the perfect flavor. The wontons were light and pillowy and handmade with handmade ingredients. We asked for more information on how the noodles are hand stretch and the noodle chef gave us a personal demonstration that we videotaped and attached to this review. Kung Fu Noodle is a great noodle place! I've eaten here multiple times and it's typically a good experience. I like that they offer chili sauce with the noodles so you can dictate your own spice level. The place has an authentic feel and they're so fast with the service. Usually the Chinese fried donuts are delicious but the last time, they were cold. I would not recommend ordering them ahead of time, even though I asked for them after the meal. The write up says the chef was trained in China, and many Asian reviewers have attested to the various dishes' authenticity. I got the stir fried chicken with hand pulled noodles and my son got the stir fried. pork with hand pulled noodles. I didn't know the difference in the types of noodles, so I gambled on the 3$ hand pulled upgraded, and wow was it worth it. The flavor of the chicken, vegetables and, of course, the noodles was outstanding. They had a steady flow of customers as well. I've even had noodles in Columbus where there are more Asian noodle places, but can argue that the noodles here are still one of my favorites because of the quality of their hand stretched noodles.
