I'm born and raised in Texas. So I'm partial to these old building remodel style businesses. It's a good site, it's in a good location right next to the Tesla charger. Plus there's a couple breweries nearby. A beer company and a distillery. It's right near the Square . The setting is great, the coffee was good, I had the jalapeño sausage kolache. It was tasty. They have a choice of a number of drinks and pastries as well as live music. I like how they have a chalkboard on the wall that has the monthly schedule. Enjoyed my first visit. I'll definitely be stopping here since the Tesla charger is so close by. Love the small town vibe and how everybody knows everybody. I spent a lot of time in Mason when I was younger so I've always enjoyed the community feel.

Got their popular favorite nutty flavored iced latte with raspberries. So delicious! Kept me awake for the Roadtrip.

We love discovering new places to us. After a great weekend in Fredericksburg, we find the Barrel House. The southern cuisine on the sign sold it even before we sat down. I'm a big fan of Cajun and creole cooking. We started with the fried boudin balls and gator bites, both were excellent fried to perfection with just a hint spicy bite. I had the chicken fried steak with eggs and hash browns. Steak was tender enough to cut with a fork, and was on point. Cynthia had the breakfast burger which she said was cooked to perfection as well as crispy along the edges. A great meal along with great service which allowed us to get back on the road and headed home with full stomachs. A full stomach and a Dateline podcast made those three hours a little more bearable

When we came in the woman who seated us tried to walk us through what was and wasn't available that day which was poorly presented and left us a bit confused. Asked our server and her description was hard to follow as well. Put in our order and the chips and queso were great. Fish tacos were good as was chicken fried steak and tender plate. My eggs were over cooked and my steak way undercooked for medium rare. Flavor on the steak was great though. Spent most of the meal wishing the server would bring more water. Certain this place can be better than our experience but this time was more off than on.

Mixed drinks don't exist here--unless you count the owner mixing up his ego with basic customer service. Speaking of the owner, he thought it was appropriate to accost my mother (in her mid-60s, mind you) for not tipping. For what service? We ordered at the bar, carried our own food, poured our own drinks... What's next, we tip ourselves for breathing? Bottom line: this isn't dining, it's self-serve misery with a side of attitude. Had some drinks, played some pool, and entered the gun raffle. They have a great dance floor, but there weren't too many single guys to dance with by 9PM...and I asked a lot of guys if they could dance, and they looked like deer in headlights...so we ended up leaving to hit another dancehall. I think there was a big group having a birthday party, so it was a lot of people, but not a lot of dancers. I'd come back here when I want to get out of my small town, but plan to stay late and see who shows up!

Repeating that it wasn't racist and defending that behavior doesn't make it acceptable -- it only serves to dismiss legitimate concerns and brush them aside. By definition, racism involves treating someone unfairly, excluding, harassing, or demeaning them based on their race or ethnicity. When the DJ used the phrase "your people," it was clearly exclusionary. When he said, "If I only play Latino music, then the others will leave," it positioned our presence as a problem and created a sense of unwelcome. The situation escalated further when our group was asked to leave -- not for being disruptive, but simply for disagreeing with the music -- while the DJ referred to us as "you and your fucking people." That is not only unprofessional, but also deeply offensive and humiliating. Even your comment about "staying in your own lane" implies exclusion. Why? Because we voiced our disagreement? Because we stood up for ourselves and asked to celebrate Latino culture on a night that was specifically promoted as Latino Night? You've suggested this issue only occurred because your regular DJ wasn't present, but this behavior reflects a broader, ongoing pattern. Regardless of who was in the DJ booth, the treatment of that group was inappropriate and inexcusable. Defending it -- and attempting to shift the narrative -- is deeply disappointing. And respectfully, claiming that you used your own money to promote Latino Night in an attempt to gain sympathy is out of touch. You own a large, well-established club. Investing in the promotion of your own events is a business expense -- not a personal sacrifice. If you'r going to promote a cultural night, you have a responsibility to respect and honor the community you're representing.
