We just moved to Ballard and were excited to try a new neighborhood sports bar. We were happy to snag a table on the patio, our server came over quickly, and drinks were fast -- so things started off great. Then it went downhill a bit. We were there during happy hour, but apparently happy hour wasn't available because the Seahawks were playing? Kind of a dumb policy, especially when you're technically there during the advertised happy hour window. We ordered salads and my husband made a very simple request: no cheese. Our server even repeated back "no cheese," but his salad arrived covered in cheese. We waited for her to come back, sent it back, and then waited another 15 minutes for a replacement salad. I completely understand they were slammed for the Seahawks game, but when the kitchen makes a mistake, that remake should be prioritized. By the time his salad arrived, our fries were cold and I was basically finished with my Cobb salad -- which unfortunately had very little in the way of toppings anyway. Great setup for watching sports and plenty of TVs, but the food experience left a lot to be desired. I'd go back for a game and drinks, but probably not specifically for the food. read more

What a great bar! I started with the jalapeño poppers (10/10!), my fiancé ordered pepperoni pizza and I ordered the Husky burger; soooo yummy! Fraudulent billing. Understaffed. Friendly staff, but poorly managed. They were so understaffed it took 40 minutes before a server came to our table to take an order. When food came it did not come out close together... came out over a 10 minute window and they didn't know what orders went to what tables. One item never came after following up twice after the initial order. They charged us for it 2x though! They also charged us for 5 Tito Vodka drinks we didn't order or have! They had us try to review the bill on their digital POS device in the sun. Couldn't read it so just paid. When we got home we found all the stuff they put on our bill that we didn't order or get. 3 for Ambience 3 for quality of food 5 for friendliness of servers 2 for slow service 2 for messed up orders 1 for fraudulent billing. We popped in here to watch some of the women's march madness tourney and Fuel came through with a solid happy hour and MANY TVs showing the game, including a monster TV in their very large outdoor patio. It was a rare nice day so we enjoyed the game and our drinks and food outside. There was good afternoon sun but umbrellas as well for those that can't handle the extra vitamin D. The service was super friendly and attentive. We got a happy hour Bags of Gold ($6) just to try them. They actually tasted kind of healthy (lots of spinach), which isn't necessarily a bad thing, I was just hoping for a little more gold less green! The half pizza and side salad is a great deal at $16 and both the Thai and Fuel pizzas were delicious! Friendly service, great TVs for watching sports, but the food was a complete fail on my most recent visit. Not only was the steak the worst I've been served in more than a decade, but the horrible smell of it followed me all the way home. They charred something on the outside of the steak that gave it a horrible burned flavor and all the way home my clothes smelled like burned throw-up. I don't recall ever having to change my clothes to escape the haunting memories of a bad meal. Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike the place and I'm sure I'll go back to watch sports, but probably not for food. And certainly not the steak. read more

The definition of a good sports bar is easy, amble and comfortable seating, lots of monitors in a variety of location set on a good mix of channels, great food and friendly service. Fuel checks all those boxes with a bold X. Staff are friendly and helpful; no one ever seems in a bad mood. You can sit at several bars or a multitude of booths; every seat in the house has a great view of a range of screens so a girl doesn't get neck cramps--I just hate that! The food is very good for a sports bar and beverages are amble--love that! There is a good variety of beers on tap and they have a parking lot with free parking--score! After a long day, Hubby had the Asian salad with shrimp and get this--the chef actually cuts the tails off the shrimp for you. NOBODY does that! I just hate getting my entree and I have to spend the first five minutes of the meal de-tailing (is that a word?) my shrimp. Not here! I had the Cougar burger with fries. Both were great. Worst place to watch the UFC fights they gonna add a 20% large table gratuity for 2 people. Without even telling you at the door. Mind you it was just me and my girlfriend that went out to eat here paid the 10$ door charge just to get in. We got there at 6:10 before it got busy. Came for Monday Night Football as well as it being the Seahawks home opener. Needless to say place was packed. Came here also because it's somewhat close to home as well as Yelp specifically listing it as a top Sports bar in one of the newsletters so I was in. Despite it being packed, it's a fairly spacious place - bar, booth, table and outdoor seating are all available which is nice. The setting as expected is adorned with flat-screens showing games. The staff and food remind me of hooters - mostly young females dressed in slightly more modest outfits with wings, burgers and other similar fare lining the menu. I had the ultimate fan cocktail that comes with smirnoff. It was actually pretty good. I got a BBQ chicken pizza for the table which was ok, had good presentation but a bit too done. Crust was a little burnt in some places. Waitress was very, good, maybe a bit too good as she made pretty frequent visits. A couple things that got me were that they didn't acknowledge the Yelp check in offer. This is a rare occurring pet peeve of mine. Even if you - the owner/manager weren't aware or forgot about this, I don't think it will kill you to acknowledge it. In this case it's only $1 off glass of wine or draft beer. Like c'mon... On top of that, we're told no happy hour during football season. Really?? I'd think you'd encourage it during that time it's only 3 hours and the only days that could be overly taken advantage of, at all are Mondays and Thursdays. At which time you'd only really have an hour to do so fully. That all said. Fuel is fun and I could see coming back try some other apps, drinks over a game or two and it was a great time here for the opener. read more

So back on 7/22/21 The Homie and I snagged the last available parking spot and decided to check out Fuel Sports Grill, which used to be a pancake place then a burger place. Glad to see a prime spot return to activity in the Crown Hill/Ballard area. Place was packed despite pandemic times with concurrent Mariners and Sounders games on. The Homie opted for wings and I had a quesadilla...pretty decent food and service. Definitely a lively, casual place to be, especially if you want to root on local sports events. pretty much everything. why is it so dang cold? it is 45 degrees outside and 40 inside your restaurant. why is your food always cold when it gets to me? there should be no reason for my food to be cold. your service takes forever and you need to hire another waitress for sundays because they are never around unless you are at the bar/main room. your employees are nice but inexperienced. your hostess or waitress aren't doing bare minimum waitress things like menu and water. pro tip: if your service is subpar and your food is cold, the bare minimum you could do is keep the temp at at least 65. also, your pancakes are like rubber and choke you in the way down. eggs are dope when warm though and you got really good drinks. read more

This is our first visit to Fuel! The Sunday brunch today was good. I had the Eggs Benedict ($17) and my wife had the Chilaquiles ($17). I wasn't bowled over by the amount of food, but the food was done well. The hashbrowns were really good. My Eggs Benedict eggs were poached perfectly. There was plenty of ham and hollandaise sauce. My wife's Chilaquiles (she says) a little dry, and could have benefited from some more sour cream and some salsa on the side. The coffee was nice and not at all bitter. Service was excellent. It's a sports bar, so get ready for an all out assault by big screen tv's. In a shout out to "old" Ballard, a restaurant called McGraths used to be at this site in the 1970's. Came here with my parents being in the area and wanted a quick dinner The atmosphere is very sports bar but it's not overly rowdy- I believe it was around 7pm on Saturday and when we arrived we were asked if we were there for the UFC fight (we weren't, I think it was to determine seating? Just wanted to get dinner) but there was a decent amount of people inside already. We got seated immediately and we're given water and menus. The new location is awesome, great parking, new menu, some of the same staff, and a fully remodeled space. The selection of sports packages is insane - basically if you want to watch it they have it. Pay per view and all. Just ask one of the bartenders and they can pop something on one of the dozens of tv's. The food is pretty classic American style, awesome burgers, great brunch (even a special kids brunch menu with syrup covered pancakes and yummy French Toast, throwback to the Pancake House that used to be here) but the portions are huge - like meal for two or definitely plan on taking half home if you're not starving. read more

Is it a plus or detriment if 12 people show up for lunch when a business opens at 11:30am? A first time visit to Fuel (sports bar & cafe) on 15th NW, for our Friday Lunch Group. We were seated quickly in a side room, but then forgotten, left to peruse menus and watch golf on a big screen, until various members of our group went looking for help. With only one wait staff person on duty to cover the bar and occasional diners at lunch time, it became clear we could not be a priority. An hour after being seated, our orders were taken, and the limited staff (one wait person, one chef) explained the situation. The chef brought our food, apologized for the delay, food was tasty, and the staff we encountered were pleasant and tried. BUT, they were not prepared to give good service at lunch time, and the long alone wait time spoiled the lunch for most of us. Maybe lunch is really not their thing...we won't be back. read more

Came here on a Saturday night for the UFC card. You know this place is a legit sports bar that is prepared for events. Some nights, event dependent it seems, there is a small cover charge which I think is a great idea for big sporting events because it keeps capacity at an enjoyable level. They have an updated website that provides a calendar for all the events they have. In the main room, there were about 13 large TVs which was awesome! The beer was cold, the staff was really attentive and kind. We were checked on by various staff members. The food was average, but I'm sure they have stuff on the menu that is good. I had the chicken parm sandwich with their rotating side which was curly fries. All in all, this is an excellent sports bar. The crowd is great, true sports fan which created a really fun, friendly environment. I will be coming back to watch more big ticket events. I can see this place being lots of fun on a football Sunday for Seattle sports. read more

This place is average. Great place to watch sports if you want a sports bar. There's not a lot of places to watch games so we are surprised to see the amount of TVs in there. Wish I took pictures of the food. We got the chicken sandwich which came with fries. It was decent the fries were not that great. Also had the Asian chicken salad which had way too much dressing on it. The biggest disappointment was the beer prices. I thought I was at the Seahawks stadium paying $9 for an IPA. Overpriced for a sports bar. There's other local bars that aren't this expensive. I couldn't imagine watching a full game here and paying that price for a beer. read more

We've been going to Fuel Sports Grill since it opened a few months ago. We've had just about all they offer, except for a few things. All the appetizers leave us wishing for more, especially the cheddar bites. The burgers are juicy and are cooked just as ordered. They also offer Impossible burgers for those of us who don't eat beef. The mac and cheese are crunchy on the outside and creamy and soft on the inside. The loaded nachos are too much for one person but perfect to share. If you want pizza, the half portion is enough for one. The Mexican pizza is spicy but not overly so. The service is always friendly and attentive, and the waitstaff always smiles. All in all, it is a sports bar, so sometimes it might get a little loud. Best part is that they have an outdoor area, so bring your dogs! read more

This place loves sports - and when you come there, expect to watch sports of all kinds from all over the world (don't expect to see the news channel on). -Variety - the menu is diverse. -Bartenders know how to make the drinks you like and they seem to enjoy doing it. -Beer is cold! -Long Happy Hour - 3-6 PM. -Clean, Clean, Clean! -Kid-friendly! -Open Late! -Really great patrons/crowd at Fuel. I have met some really nice people there. -Brunch on weekends (9-3). I really like the Eggs Benedict. -They offer Mimosa's Pitcher size! -They serve amazing milkshakes! -My kids like the options on the Kid Menu. Especially the fries. -Outdoor seating is great! Especially on a sunny/warm day. Servers keep an eye on you to make sure you get what you need. -Sports, Sports, Sports! CONS: -Sadly, the Prices. A) $6.00 for a Bud Light (even during Happy Hour). B) Micro Beers as high as $9.00. C) Appetizers at Happy Hour are $6.00. 4 appetizer plates add up to $24 bucks to purchase before tip and tax. Combined the food portions may almost equal a meal. Might as well just order an entree. -Appetizers after Happy Hour, are also head-scratchers. Prices, portions, and taste for the money? I am not in love with the appetizers enough to order them. I just go straight for an entree. -With some exceptions, food portions for the dollar amount/price is a question mark? -Back to prices, I went into Fuel recently with 3 friends (weekly boys night out) and amassed a bill of $300.00 before tip. In all of the years we have been going out as a Group on a weeknight, we have never created a bill that big? Again, another head-scratcher? -Fuel offers a $10.00 margarita. The quality of the drink really depends on who is making the margarita. The quality/taste can really vary. I stopped ordering them because my experience has really been inconsistent. Great story: -Went into Fuel and forgot my wallet. Didn't figure it out until it was time to leave. Fuel staff worked with me "amazingly" to work it out so that I could pay my bill. My Favorite Menu Items. -Hawaiian Burger with Chicken -Chicken Gnocchi w/ Cream Sauce Kid's favorite food items: -Burger -Fries -Milkshakes -French Toast Summary: -Great venue and so close to home. Terrific place to watch sports and gather with friends. Fuel has done such a nice job of being consistent with their service, menu, and overall quality during the COVID-related lockdown/mandates. I can't imagine what creativity was required to make it through and to continue on. I would personally visit more often if the prices were comparable to other venues I frequently visit. True story: I make sure and eat a sandwich at home before I go there:). I'm really rooting for this place but they have a long way to go. It was full staffed (and not busy) but the service was horrific. I had to go inside twice to get my beer, again for ketchup, again for silverware/napkins, again for my second beer. The other family on the patio had to leave. The Asian salad wrap was inedible. Looked at the menu, and honestly I'm not going to go until they lower their prices. It's just right up the street from me and I've always been so curious about it but those dollar signs on the menu are really holding me back. In order to try gnocchi from a sports bar I'm gonna have to have those prices slashed way down. I'm going to give them a three star just because I'm so hopeful it will become a cool place because I always like new bars in the neighborhood that I can walk to. read more
