I've been to Houndstooth plenty of times. Recently, we went on a mission to find Guinness on tap in Greenwood, and they were the only bar to have it. Score! The bartender, was great and inviting. He loved our dog--yes, dogs are allowed there! We decided to return for the NFL playoffs. We asked the bartender (a different one) to turn the music off and put the game on so we could hear it. He mentioned he didn't like football and wasn't keen on changing it. Quite bizarre for a sports pub! After a bit of begging and sincere niceness, he finally obliged. We ordered food, and anything fried took forever to come out. The bar was barely half full. My friend asked about her wings, and he stated it's very busy when football is on, and they only have one fryer. It took over an hour, and she even tried to cancel her order. The bartender was not friendly and pretty negative from the moment we walked in. Overall, the food is good with large portion sizes, which is a bonus. However, the service was disappointing. I'm giving them a 3 star since the bartender the first night we were there was a delight! He should be working all the time to have repeat customers! read more

My boyfriend and I went here for trivia night a few Thursdays ago. Never--and I can't stress this enough--again. This was THE most hilariously bad experience we've ever had at a bar here. Every other bar hosting trivia should look at this place as the perfect example of exactly what not to do in almost every way. The woman hosting trivia was SO out of pocket that I have to write this review in bullet points: * First, she threatened to throw a foam ball at anyone she saw using their phone or talking too loudly during the game. Should've sounded like a funny joke, but she wasn't laughing. * Trivia started at 8:30. When it started, she would ask a question, wait 5 minutes, repeat that question, wait 5 minutes, then ask the next one. Plus, for some reason, she gave us a ~10 min break between every round. You can imagine how painstakingly long this took. * The first round was "Current Events." This quickly turned into questions about the political shitstorms of the week. Half the reason we came to trivia was to avoid thinking about politics. And judging by the dead silence in the room after she would ask these questions, it was clear we weren't alone. * After each round, she asked if anyone needed questions repeated, then got mad when people said yes. She--who was using a loud and clear MICROPHONE--scolded everyone for being too loud (AT A BAR) and demanded we be quieter so everyone could hear the questions the first times. It felt like we were her class of 2nd graders and she was about to put us in time out. God forbid people drink and converse at a bar?¿ * Unrelated to her, but we ordered fries that took 25 mins because they had one fryer and one cook (not their fault). But then when the guy delivered the fries, he dropped the fries at the table while starting at the wall and avoiding eye contact with us. * The fries were bomb but we ran out of ketchup and the ketchup bottles were low or out on every single table we asked. We finished our drinks and got the hell outta there while the host was--as she put it--"grading our papers." By the time we left it was 9:45 and she hadn't even read the standings from the first half of the game yet, let alone started the second half. That game probably didn't end until 11 or later. ALL THAT being said, the bartender was a nice guy. It was clear they were understaffed and overwhelmed, so we felt bad for pretty much everyone except the world's worst trivia host. The bartenders are super friendly. I love the fries! Food in general is great, but my go to is the Southwest Chicken wrap with fries instead of chips. Drinks are always good and reasonably priced. Vibes are also great. They have pinball tournaments sometimes which can be a little noisy, but there's outdoor seating. Houndstooth is easily one of my favorite spots on the Greenwood strip. read more

I'll really give this place 4.5 stars, and only .5 less because I wish the drinks had been a bit cheaper :(. My new go-to happy hour haunt in Greenwood. What a cool pub to chill, enjoy a little pub grub and a couple pints. What sets the HTPH above other joints is the service. Laid-back but not lazy, quick with recommendations or warnings (the sour beer is sour but so good) and just a general great attitude. My veggie friend and I shared an enormous plate of nachos (not on happy hour menu but well priced) and they were delightful, a perfect accompaniment to the brews. read more

I came here to pick up a takeout order for myself and was very surprised by the place, in a good way though. This is a grown up nerd bar lol, it's packed with really cool vintage and new pinball machines that you can play. The tv situation to watch games is great if you're into football or soccer, hockey whatever it's great! The selection at the bar is very decent and the bartender is a very cool and funny guy who complimented my BB-8 (Starwars) debit card. I ordered a meatball sub and some mozzarella sticks. I don't think there's a person on this planet who can complain about deep fried cheese, it was the highlight of my day. Now the meatball sub was very good, there's an Italian sausage and beef chuck mixture and the fennel is apparent. They did go a little tame on the amount of sauce so I will order more on the side for future reference but the meatballs are seasoned well and the sauce is very good. The atmosphere here is good and it wasn't loud at all. Funny and very nice people. 10/10 recommendation! read more

To start I'm a former chef and server. With 20 years of experience in the greater Seattle area including wineries, fine dining, concert catering and below. So what's my problem with the houndstooth? It's an expensive dive bar. The food is ok, but the problem is what they charge for cheap beer. A six pack of pbr is 7.17 at my local gas station and I'd rather have that at my house than at the tooth. They charge $4 for a 16oz pbr. That's a 240% markup. I suggest recommending to the owner get the 24oz cans and I pay $4 for that and it's disregarded by the bartender and the cook is laughing. I've been frequenting this place for months since it's close to work. On their website they advertise $2.50 tall boys on tuesdays. On a Tuesday and I'm being served by the owner I show him his website and all I get is a "that was precovid" so I call false advertising on that sorry you were lazy or greedy, but honor your advertised price when it's being show to you and you haven't updated your site. Beyond that the crowd, from my experience, is your typical gentrification crowd. Mostly white paying lip service to minorities. If a minority disagrees with their assessments they get rude and disrespectful. Sorry, but when I've been going there for months and very occasionally see another person of color it's pretty obvious that you don't care to listen to us. The whole place from staff to clients reeks of gentrification and should not be supported. It's a dive bar it's not particularly special or entertaining and the crowd is just pretending to be socialist while heavily pursuing capitalist lifestyles. I'll take this down when I get an apology from the owner, the female bartender and the cook. Until then expect to see me with a sign in front of your establishment. If your rent is to high do you think mine isn't? I can't afford $4 16oz pbr. And I can't afford rent because you play into the rental market scam that plagues Seattle and is a detriment to minorities. Soooo happy that this is now the House Sports Pub and not Pillagers. They got rid of those awful picnic tables and now have normal tables with comfy chairs. So much easier to get in & out especially if you're in a skirt. The staff were very friendly and service was good and fast. Great bar to watch sports games! We came here today to watch the final four games. They have multiple TVs and large projector. They also have various pin-Ball machines. Their beer and cider selection is great! Their menu is also good. We got the mini corn dogs, only $7, mozzarella sticks, and a friend got their grilled cheese and tomato soup. Being from the South in the PNW is sometimes like being the bearded lady in the circus. You can shave every day and hide your secret but, why the fuck would you? Oh, yeah, to avoid the constant side eye about the Confederacy. Well, sometimes, we let our beards grow all the way out and just blend in with all of those lumbersexuals who can't tell the difference between sour mash, rye, and bourbon. The last time this happened was on Derby day. I don't have cable. I give no shits about the vitriol spewing from the oral cavities of Trump or Clinton. I don't have any desire to keep up with the Kardashians. And the nightly news just reminds me that people are assholes. So, The Spawn and I found ourselves in a pickle on a Kentucky holiday. We needed a sports bar. We needed a sports bar willing to let us commandeer the TV for about two minutes. The Houndstooth kindly allowed the Kentucky Bearded Lady and her Spawn to take over the joint for a while. To Spawn A's delight they even had Bookers Bourbon on the shelf. We call it Big Boy Bourbon in our house. It will put hair on your chest and your chin. Spawn A was content with his soda. He'd have been really happy had the bartender not forgotten his corndogs. But, given that she running the show by herself, it was forgivable since she got my mozzarella sticks to the table just fine. Nice folks who serve standard bar fare in a standard sports bar. What's not to like about The House? They have transformed the space here a bit, rescuing it from its dismal plight as Pillagers. Spacious, comfortable, lots of TVs showing the game. Big bar with pleasant staff, slinging pints and cocktails and whatnot. The food was worth stuffing your face as a late night snack. Seattle is woefully short of sports bars, and this place isn't really specializing in spectating--the layout isn't conducive to big groups focusing on one nice big screen. It's more like a neighborhood spot where they always have the games on different TVs. But it's clean and nice enough and seems capably staffed. read more

Decent enough. Happy hour specials are pretty good. You get a lot of bacon cheesy tots for $5. Also the pound of wings are a good value... Nice plump wings, I got mostly drummettes. I also ordered with buffalo sauce on the side, to keep the wings crisp and to dunk some into sriracha. The parking situation isn't the best, and it's 21+ so not family friendly. This place definitely takes the crown for the best sports bar I've been to! I was with a group of 9 people to watch the UW game, and we had so much fun! We got there about 2 hours before the game so we got some really great seats. The main TV area kicks ass since it has a giant screen and 2 others on each side, so you can watch 5 different games at once. There are also many more TVs showing other games throughout the other corners of the bars. And their service is AWESOME! The place was super packed by the time the game started, and our server was still very attentive. Color me impressed--I will be back! Great selection of beers on tap, and the food selection was great as well. No wings though, just FYI! read more

So I've been to this bar quite a few times. They have a decent amount of pinball games, and their food is usually really good (specifically the mac and cheese and the hot dogs). There's a male bartender that usually serves us and he's great - maybe rough around the edges but never had an issue with him. However tonight we went in and there was a woman attending the bar. She severely underpoured our beers. She rung up and brought out the wrong food. And when we went to pay the tab, she charged us $4 for a single piece of extra garlic bread (the mac and cheese that comes with 1 piece initially is only $8). She provided no type of service with the ridiculous upcharge, and didn't come across as friendly the whole time we were there. My entire experience tonight definitely soured my opinion of this establishment. I understand the rude and apathetic bartender is a hipster bar trademark, but I really don't appreciate it when the things I'm paying for (drinks and food) come out incorrect all night. They also upped the prices on the pinball games, so I won't be rushing back here. read more

I had a specific craving the night I went to hounds tooth. So I yelped Mac n cheese. Many places came up around me, I live in green lake and didn't want to go far. I wanted Mac n cheese and beer. So I pulled the trigger and came into hounds. On a weeknight, the dodgers game was playing on the big screen, the bar seating was packed so I sat at a tall table. Bartender cane over within a few mins and gave me a menu, super nice guy. Though previous reviews said food was terrible I wanted to give it a try. It's cheap bar food people, what do I expect?! So I ordered Mac n cheese AND buffalo wings. lol. Killed it. The Mac n cheese was creamy, almost a velveeta style cheese but not velveeta. Sprinkled with breadcrumbs and then baked a little (because the plate was hella hot and it was bubbling I could tell it had been baked). Not bad for cheap Mac. Buffalo wings were fine once I drenched them in hot sauce. Could have used more buffalo sauce( idk if they put any on actually) but I didn't care enough to ask for extra. Just dipped in it ranch and ate away. Nice experience overall. Pinball machines were cool and beer selection was legit. I'll be back. 4 stars just because it wasn't overly impressive but like I said I'll be back. read more

Playing pinball while the M's or Hawks are on -- yes man child, such a place does exist..... More than just an old golden tee in the corner they have a good selection of maybe a dozen or so different games that span a range of eras. Reasonable beer selection and they always seem to have a couple of Ciders on tap as well. Food isn't amazing, but it is totally fine for bar food, and the tenders and fries basket is a pretty good deal. read more

We went here to watch the Superbowl tonight - it was great! Was busy, but not too busy probably since it's fairly new, which was perfect. We found a seat no problem, the wait staff was very attentive and nice and helpful. There was a huge selection of beer on tap which was fantastic. Comfy chairs, huge tvs. I have to agree with the other reviewers though on the food. What kind of bar doesn't have fries?? We had chips and salsa but the chips clearly came from a chip bag - make your own chips! I had the bbq pork pita bread and it was tasty though. Good place, I hope to come back, and when they improve the menu I'll up it to 5 stars :). read more

This place has been open only a few days and I've been twice. I really enjoy this place. The first day I went my friend spilled a beer on my cell phone. The wait staff were right on the scene to clean up and even gave my friend a free replacement beer! Awesome! Also, if you're a sports fan, they have TVs all over the place. I think the seating is more comfortable than the old Pillager's seating. The place looks much nicer, I really like the look of the place. If you're not much of beer person (like me) they had Angry Orchard and Wine on tap. The only reason why they get 4 instead of 5 stars is that the food is good, but nothing spectator. Wraps and pita pizzas are on the menu, personally not the type of food that I'll be craving. On the other hand it seems like this would be a place you could eat at without feeling like you blew it diet wise. Bottom line: this is a great neighborhood bar. I'll be back! read more

On day 3 of The House pub, my friends and I went to watch the Seahawks game (vs. SF). We knew going in that the pub had just opened and that it might be 'rough'. Boy were we wrong. The wait staff was spectacular! No matter how much our party grew and the bar got more and more crowded, we were always checked on and drinks and water filled much faster than we'd expect from a well established place, nevermind one that should have been finding its 'legs'. The previous bar in this location was 'odd' and 'uncomfortable', whatever they did totally changed the atmosphere. It was comfortable, cozy and there really wasn't a bad seat in the house. Someone really thought about 'line of sight', since there are couple structural columns in the place. Every seat has a view of a tv and most have a view of the large 10' HDTV (in the middle of a 'wall of tvs'). Our server recommended a beer when we arrived and he was right it was perfect (it was a 'golden something' -- i never did catch the name). Later I ordered the bbq pork pita pizza and it was a perfect size for one person and definitely went well with the beer. The menu is limited because they wanted to do a few things well before they expanded and I think that was a wise move. All the wraps were met with enthusiasm (they are still simply wraps so no one waxed poetic about them ;-p). The coleslaw was good and has a bit of kick which i enjoyed. Our overall impression was we'd found our sports bar! We really enjoyed the experience and will be back! read more

Loved it and I will be coming back. Got some wings and asked the bartender for a sweet drink and he made me a delicious sweet tea like drink. Wings are excellent for the price and are so satisfying. The only reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 is because there was a creepy guy staring at me the whole time and I was obviously uncomfortable. While I enjoy the occasional game, I am not the biggest sports guy. I love football but would rather watch it at home or a friend's house. Why do I like The House? Just a cool, laid back, unpretentious bar in my neighborhood. Good beer selection and there always seems to be some kind of special going on. Currently, during March Madness, all beers are $3.75. How awesome is that? The food was pretty good though I forgot what I had. That doesn't have anything to do with the quality of food here, just my terrible memory. Fun laid back bar. Came here on a Saturday night and ordered some pitchers and played Darts. The Dart board is kind of hidden in the corner and a bit of a tight area, but still fun. There are lots of games you can play here- video games and board games included. A very casual bar. I was here right after the Sounders won the MLS finals (!!!!!!) and it was pretty lively. Would have been fun to watch the game here. About an hour after the win, the bar was pretty empty. It's a nice hangout for a low night, and has a nice selection of beers. read more

I am sure glad that The House has arrived in Greenwood. While I frequented the Pillagers Pub occasionally, this is a huge improvement to the neighborhood. The drinks were decent and the waitress was cute. That's the end of the good things I can say about House. The really unfortunate thing is that I love the location. I could stumble home from here after a few drinks. The food was meh. Wasn't so bad as to be gross, but certainly wasn't great or even good. The worst thing was the place smelled like they hadn't changed the grease in the fryer in quite a while. My friend and I left and we both stank like a deep fryer when we got home.
