I had the pleasure of attending the Yelp event here. Adjo the owner, is so sweet, warm and inviting. The beautiful decor reflects her West African heritage. We got to hear about how she got started by cooking and watching her grandmother. We sampled Egusi-a West African stew full of deliciousness. FUFU was served to scoop it up with. The Beef Stew was not your average kind. It was warm and full of spices and flavor. We also had Jollof Rice and Black Eyed Peas - OMG! The taste will have you wanting more. The fried Plantains were tender and slightly sweet. We washed it all down with some Hibiscus Tea that had floral undertones and was perfectly paired with our meal. I've had FUFU n' Sauce before and have never left disappointed. This time was no different. I'm so happy to now know that they have a brick and mortar. Congrats!! Things to keep in mind that location parking is limited so be aware if you are in need of close parking in case of physical disabilities. The space inside is decorated uniquely and it feels very personal which is something I truly appreciated. There is not much seat space inside but LISTEN the food i tried today was soooo flavorful. Where to even start! This was a fantastic experience. I was a part of the yelp elite group last evening and had a blast. We came to order to go. Service was friendly and quick. Menu was straight forward. It is a pick up/to go restaurant. Not a sit down and dine. Nicely decorated inside though ! We got egusi with fufu And a side of jollof rice . We also got the hibiscus tea and ginger drink. This is our first time having fufu and egusi and it was good. To me, fufu definitely had similarities to mashed potato but yet still different and distinct taste. The egusi was good too. I have nothing to compare it to but it was just okay. I've had jollof rice before from other places. Not sure if today's jollof rice was a bad batch or something but the moment we opened the container, the smell of cigarettes hit my nose. I still tasted it though and it tasted like I bit into a lit cigarette. It's also not like a smoky smell or taste either. It's literally exactly like the smell and taste of a burnt lit cigarette. But like I said maybe it was a bad batch today. But I have never had jollof rice that tasted and smelled like this one . Both drinks were really tasty though! It was my first time ever trying fufu egusi and I don't know particularly what it was supposed to taste like, the flavor wasn't Super Bold and it kind of reminded me of lentil soup in the taste but I did like it. Fu Fu and Sauce is a cozy and small restaurant. It is decorated in African Art. There are tables, but you stand instead of sitting. The owner, you can hear her accent as she tells her story of how Fu Fu and Sauce was born. She prepared a limited menu for us Yelpers. The service was great. You are greeted with a smile. The owner is passionate about her introducing her Fu Fu and culture to St. Louis. Everything was appetizing. The food was great. I learned that she offers ox tails and lamb chops, too. I have to come back for oxtail and lambchops. The ginger pineapple was a bit strong for me. Our menu consisted of jollof rice, beef stew, fu fu, egusi soup, blackeyed peas, and plantains. I had a great time meeting, eating, and connecting with Yelpers. There is a parking lot in front. The lot is small. I had a banquet to attend. Therefore, I didn't want to get too full. Hmmm...had college friends from Ghana, so Ive had plenty of West African stews as well as Kwelewele, shito, banku, kenkey, and fufu...just visited Ghana a couple of months ago for a couple of weeks. The fufu tastes more like potato than cassava. The oxtails, while tasty, taste like American oxtail, not even Jamaican, and definitely not West African. They lacked the complexity of flavor I expect in a West African stew. The food was good, but not what I expected. read more

Where do I even start. The ambiance and the decor of this place are so inviting and encapsulating. My lady and I went for our anniversary. We were greeted by the friendliest man up front who helped us with what we should get for our first time. I ended up getting the oxtail and palm-nut stew that came with fufu, and she got the Zo-Zo wings with Jallof rice. We got fried plantains to share. The Oxtail was so rich it would almost melt in your mouth. The flavor that resulted from using the delicious and soft fufu to scoop up everything in the stew was a culmination of rich, creamy, and hearty. The rice and wings had a subtle kick that creeped up on you but just enough to add to the taste. The wings were saucy at first taste and then tender and flavorful. The rice had so many different flavors and was almost creamy. The plantains were soft, and sweet with a bite from the fryer that tied the whole dish together. They almost put us in a food coma and I still woulda ran inside to get beignets if they weren't almost closed. We will DEFINITELY be back again to try the rest of the menu read more
