I made my first visit to Fuga last week and I HIGHLY recommend it. Overall, the place is very nice and for a guy you don't get the feeling that you are the only dude in an all-girl salon. The ambience is great and the prices are very reasonable. The most important part is to ask for "GOLDIE." There are 2 Lisa(s) who work there and I went to GOLDIE who was by far the best stylist I've ever been to. She's not only extremely good at doing a guy's do, but she is very sweet and personable. I love this salon. I've been there for waxing and hair and both are fabulous. Christina gave me an "Italian-style" cut and I received more compliments than any other haircut I've ever gotten. I have been on the search for the right stylist in Chicago and I think I can stop looking. I highly recommend her! Waxing is also really great. All of the women are friendly and do a great job. Fuga also have a cute upstairs patio where you can have private parties and bring in food/drinks. It's very tastefully decorated and can be used while you wait for your spa treatments. I went to this salon after Asif, who had been cutting my hair for awhile, moved there. The salon is really good. Nice people, cool location(Mich ave), and prosecco to boot. More importantly to me, though, is that Asif is there. The guy is just a styling genius and makes it enjoyable while you are sitting there. I drive in from Mundelein to the salon. Granted the stylist is my daughter Erin, but she always gets it right for me. Whether it is a new cut or a change in color, I always leave happy. For years, I would wash and style my hair every day, now I find with the way Erin cuts my hair, I do not have to do that anymore. Worst hair cut experience ever. Would have had better service at a super cuts. I am a male so hair cuts don't take long but 25 minutes ( little fast for the price). She didn't introduce her self and had the worst conversational skills. When she was done she didn't check to see if I liked it, she just said "ok done and was taking off my gown. Then disappear. Not sure if she just got fired or it was her last day, or had a personal problem. I tried to tip but they can't add it to the bill (good way not to pay taxes). So I was going to go to the ATM. I always tip 20% no matter what, but I was so upset with my experience and her lack of effort, I just went on with my day (she didn't get a tip). read more

I just went recently to Fuga to get a Brazilian wax done ( the second time in my life). This Salon/Spa has such a modern clean feel to it. The people walking out look like models (hair and makeup done at the salon). I felt so comfortable and did not feel rushed at all. Maria explained everything about the procedure and asked all the appropriate questions. (not like the first time I had this done, at a different establishment). I won't say it did not hurt but it was over quite quickly. Maria explained that with time it will get better, when I was doing my research on-line I read about this. Everyone there is so friendly. I am in love with Nadine! I went to Fuga a little scared because I have always wanted to get blonde ombre hair! I have gone to many other salons and they never actually listen to what I want! Well Nadine did exactly what I asked for! I love my hair! I have never been happier walking out of a hair Salon in my life! I have already recommended her to my friends (who have gone to her and been equally satisfied) but that is not enough! I need to tell the world. Whenever I need anything done I go to Nadine (even things like blowouts! I didn't wash my hair for four days after my last blowout because it looked amazing for all four days!). I trust no one but Wintre with my hair. I have think, coarse hair with a colicky wave in the back and lifeless in the front and she is the only stylist who has ever been able to give me a cut that looks good both styled and left to air-dry (which I do often because I'm lazy). She is also phenomenal with color. I once had her fix a purple mistake and she got it looking great without any damage. Plus, her shampoo-head massage is better than going to a masseuse. read more

I've only gotten brow waxes at Fuga (on Southport), but Graciela is, hands-down, the best waxer I've found since moving to Chicago. I'd tried Benefit a few times (on Southport and at Ulta in Lakeview) and wasn't happy with the results. Despite my instructions, my eyebrows still came out somewhat uneven and very thin. I found Graciela by searching through numerous Yelp reviews and started going to her when she was working at Sinead Salon & Spa. She's always fast yet very thorough and does exactly as I ask her. She's also great about giving advice on which eyebrow shapes work best with certain face shapes, which has been really helpful. It's either $18 or $20 for a brow wax, which is usually a little more than I'd like to spend, but it's well worth it. read more

Fuga is a nice salon but the prices are getting a bit outrageous! $75 for a basic haircut and $120 for (partial) highlights. I think there are alot of other salons in the city with more reasonable prices and Fuga needs to realize this. read more

I went to Fuga a few times a thought the services were pretty good. In the last year, the service and staff have gone downhill. I now been to several area spas that are much better with prices that are equal or less than Fuga. My last visit I was charged more than the price list and when I complained, the receptionist said "the price list is wrong", like that makes it okay. I most likely will not be back. read more

Not sure how this place has 4 stars. I came here based on its yelp reviews and am sorely disappointed. If you're into cleanliness and hygiene steer clear! If you're into a manicure where they stay inside the lines and give you an even, full coat of polish, that is smooth around the edges and professional, also steer clear! I went this afternoon for a nonchip / gel manicure. Before I even got my manicure I was in the waiting area, which Fuga does not clean throughout the day. There were clods of hair clumped around the floor,and even 15 minutes after my appointment time, when the nail tech finally greeted me and took me back, the clods of hair were still floating around the front area. I had to step around them as I made my way back to the nail area. The light was somewhat dim in the nail area, but as the tech did my manicure and asked me to put my hand in the uv light box, I was grossed out by the little hairs and dirt all over the outside of it. As the nail tech would go outside the lines of my nails, she would use her own nails to scrape around the edges of my nails, rather than an orange stick or nail tool to clean up the excess polish in a hygienic fashion. When the manicure was over and I came back out into the light, I noticed a gross manicure with waves and globs in some areas and translucent lack of coverage in other areas, not to mention nail polish smeared onto my cuticles and skin. Poor "service" and "quality" for $40. The staff was kind and polite, but the services were disappointing. I would not come here even if it were free. Maybe their specialty is hair, and they just aren't good at nails. Not sure, as I have never had my hair done here, and based on the clumps of wet hair of earlier clients in the hair wash sinks, I never intend to. Additionally, one of the things that drew me to this spa was the espresso drinks other yelpers said they offer. They did offer me espresso, but I cannot imagine wanting to drink it in an environment where hair is floating around so freely, and the products for sale are dusty. This place needs a deep clean. I am also curious if the nail tech is even licensed or has been to beauty school, because this was not a professional manicure. I could have done better myself. Also, some of the music playing was great, but other songs were about girls who are *itches, repeated over and over. Not exactly a relaxing salon/spa experience. Finally, I marked the price as moderate, but given the value for the price it is really expensive. You pay $40 for disappointment and a manicure that needs to be redone. By the time I pay another salon to remove this nonchip/gel polish and do another mani, the whole process will cost me far more than $40, not to mention my time, which I consider priceless. read more

I've been to Alex at Fuga a few times for haircuts and she does a fantastic job. She listens to what I like/hate about my hair and cuts it accordingly. I know I'm a pain because I always wait too long between cuts, but she's always friendly, remembers what we've talked about during past visits (but isn't too chatty) and gives a great cut every time. Best of all, the haircut is pretty reasonable given the location and services. I'm going to try out a couple of their spa services in October, we'll see how it goes! ***Update*** Took a precious vacation day to have a spa day (mini-massage & haircut). Booked the appointments over a month in advance, 2 different confirmation calls verifying the 2:30 start time. 2:15: I'm meandering up Southport, having enjoyed a facial and lunch elsewhere, about a block from Fuga, and just miss a phone call from them. I listen to the snitty voicemail that I've missed my massage appointment and would I like to reschedule. WTF? 2:16 Call Fuga back, am placed on hold and am rushing up the last block. Hang up when I reach the door. 2:20 Receptionist tells me too bad, so sad, missed my massage, but I can sit on the wooden bench til my 2:45 haircut. I decided to walk around the neighborhood instead. Alex gives really great haircuts. 2:25 Decide Alex's great haircuts are not worth dealing with snitty front desk staff who can't manage to keep 2:00 vs 2:30 straight or wooden benches. Cancel hair appointment. 2:32 Owner calls and gives me a spiel about her staffing issues, something about the regular manager having left for the day and what a sweet girl the receptionist is and that she should have come up with a more flexible solution to the timing mishap. I'm too upset over burning a vacation day to get treated like crap to bother and say thanks but no thanks, I'm going home and don't plan on returning. I wish I could say I love this place, but it will not be worth my time or frustration to return. read more

I went to Fuga after reading rave reviews here, and because it's very close to my house. My stylist, Tara, met with me before my appointment to review my concerns about my existing color. She did a wonderful job of listening to me first, then explaining what she thought would work better for me. While I guess this is my fault for not asking first, what I did not expect was the price: $230 ($15 for blowdry) for my foils & single process. Not only is that pretty expensive, but I resent paying extra for a blowdry...especially on my first visit to this salon and stylist, when I'd have no idea what my hair would look like. I liked Tara very much, and again, she did a wonderful job. If I had money to burn, I'd return. read more

After reading the yelp reviews, I decided to give this place a try. Have been going to my suburbs salon for years. Wanted to find something closer to the city. Serves me right for not sticking to what worked for me. Before the hair cut began, during consultation I mentioned to my stylist repeatedly that I want to keep the length and add layers in. My hair grows painfully slow. 2 inches in 6 months slow. Told her that. She promised to chop only an inch off. After the haircut, while straightening it, she said - "I have cut 1.5 inches, your hair really needed it". I thought to myself - "1.5 inches I can live with". Turned around and saw 3.5-4 inches of my hair gone. On complaining, the management offered me a discount of $25 on the next service at the salon. Why in the freaking world would I go there again and that is what I asked them? The answer to that was "We are really sorry". Needless to say I will NEVER go there again and if you love your length please find some other place. Now I am short of 4 inches of hair and $70 of money. read more

spas/salons are really about atmosphere, right? you look forward for days to your hair, nail, spa appt and you want all of your senses to be pampered. fuga is the right place for that. it really is like walking into a euro cafe - offering you a cappucino and biscuits when you walk in. graciella perfects my brows and her manis/pedis are amongst the best. i'm reading reviews on stylist as i am in the market for a new hairdresser as well. i wanted to have a girls spa day here before my wedding and i learned that they have a great private kitchen and balcony upstairs that is perfect for that. i decided against fuga though because they only have 2 pedi and 2 mani stations. also, i don't like that the pedis aren't in a spa pool - but rather a tub of rocks. i was a little nervous of how often they scrub through the rocks but the place is pretty immaculate all around... escape the hypey end of southport corridor (avoid b. rose at all costs), grab a scone from julius meinl and head on over to fuga instead. read more

I went last weekend for the Pretty In Pink special (an express facial). I had a very good experience. The woman who gave me the facial (Maria) was very nice and professional. Before she started she told me that extractions are not included in an express facial, but I did get a light peel. I enjoyed the foot massage as well - I'm a sucker for a foot rub. The guy working the front desk was very welcoming. I also received a 10% off "thank you" postcard in the mail a few days later. I will most likely go back, but since their regular prices are a little high I won't be able to go as much as I would like to. read more

Fuga salon did a great job in taking my hair from dark brown to medium brown. I have a fair amount of gray and they were able to blend in all the colors. I received a very good cut as well. They made me feel at home and I looked beautiful when I left! I love that I can go in and get my hair toned for $20 when needed. Fuga is by far the best salon in Chicago. Everyone who works there is wonderful. Rebecca is one of the receptionist there and she is always polite and accommodating. Her smile is contagious. I have extremely long thick hair and it's constantly a struggle finding a stylist who can work with my hair. They always seem intimidated as soon as I walk in or they want to chop it all off. I like to keep the length but clean up the ends. Cristina is amazing.. I had a cut and color a while back. She did a new technique called Ombre on my hair. This is when the ends of your hair are dyed and highlighted to look like your hair has been kissed by the sun and has grown out a bit. Going from dark to light in color. The idea is to keep it very natural looking. It turned out perfect and she respected the length while getting rid of the dead ends. I constantly get complements on my hair because of her. Sadly I have moved since then and may have to make a special trip back just to get my hair done at Fuga. read more

First of all he spends his time on the cut, taking away volume and working with your curls instead of spending time trying to sell you the magic curly hair product to control your hair - if you have a great curly cut, you don't need tons of different product Yes, my curly hair now has a great sexy shape so even on a humid day it retains a great shape. I have tried several stylist in the city who say they specailize in curly cuts but I have been very disappointed. Antonio knows the behavior of curly hair and he knows how to cut it. And at Fuga the price was very reasonable. If you haven't found the right hair stylist to cut your curly hair - do your hair and yourself a favor and call for Antonio. read more
