I feel like I can trust him to not screw me over. Plus he's really funny. My car is a 2003 Nissan, so it's getting up there in age and mileage, so I've been needing a lot more maintenance lately. Every time I've taken my car to Kay, it's been done the same way, even before I'm done with work so I can just my car on my way home. So convenient! I love that Kay calls me as soon as he's done looking things over to let me know what's going, exactly what it's going to cost, and what my options are before even starting any work. I honestly don't know if Fuji Auto's prices are comparable to other mechanics but I'm okay with it since I love that I can trust this place. So far my car has been here three times. I dropped off my Toyota Highlander at Fuji to fix an annoying sound that came from the rear of the SUV. Being that it was 7 years old, I was expecting to pay a pretty penny for the repair. Turns out the spare tire housing was loose. I was astounded when Kay only charged me a very very small amount (I'd guess inspection fee). My first review in '08, I had put under Sunwave Auto. But I really want to review Kay's shop again, because I love, love, LOOOOOVE his shop. This is THE BEST place to get your Japanese car repaired. I literally drive 40 miles to get just an oil change, because I only trust Kay with my car. Here are the reasons: 1. Honesty. My dad is a mechanic in another state, so I appreciate an honest mechanic in the Los Angeles area (which is REALLY hard to find, especially if you're a female). I just went in today for an oil change and possibly getting my brake pads replaced. Kay told me that I had about 35% on my pads and I wouldn't need new ones for another 6-7,000 miles. Other shops would've just replaced them early to make the extra money. 2. They do EXCELLENT work. Kay and his merry band of mechanics always do the best job on my Toyota. I leave the shop feeling like I'm driving a new car. 3. Customer service is bomb. Friendly and sweet. BEST EVER. 4. They will sometimes do minor things for your car while its there, for free. They once bolted on my hanging bumper and today they tuned up my brakes along with my oil change. I didn't even ask!! LOVE THEM. 5. Great prices. This place won't rip you off. They understand that keeping a return customer isn't worth making a couple extra bucks on unnecessary repairs now. Every other mechanic shop could learn a valuable lesson from Kay. The prices for work on the cars are incredibly reasonable and the service is always honest, reliable and superb. Kay, and the rest of the shop at Fuji Auto know a ton about any Japanese made cars, so if you have one, or even any other car, I'd say take them here to get whatever service you need done. Just some advice, if you are on a time crunch try and go a bit earlier in the day, usually whatever work that needs to be done can be done quite quickly if you take it in early enough. I needed to get my transmission fluid change and and after reading the reviews, I called and the owner picked up. Even though it sounded busy he listened to my request and gave me an excellent price. I wanted to bring my own Honda transmission fluid in and just pay for labor and that is exactly what I got. I went in and even though there was 2 people ahead of me, I was out of there in about 30 minutes on a Saturday afternoon. I asked other questions and he was honest about when I should get the service done, but never did he pressure me into doing it, just because I was already there. The store front is off La Seda Road (lighted intersection) facing east towards the mobile home park. Like the other reviews, the owner is genuine and works with a sense of urgency. Fuji Auto is the ONLY place we take our 4 Japanese cars... and all our former ones at that. (My family has been coming here for over a decade.) As all the other reviewers have said, you can come here and expect a good deal and honest opinion. Kay will evaluate your car, then call you to let you know the status/options and let you decide what work you would like to have done. Again as reviewers have said, Kay will tell you what work needs to be done right away, and what can be put off. He also offers to evaluate used cars before making a purchase. Kay's specialty is Japanese cars, but I specifically feel comfortable trusting him with my Hybrid. Kay himself is a fan and a hybrid owner, so I know my car is in good hands. I'm not sure what the times usually are, but we always come on Saturday mornings at 7:30am when Kay arrives as the shop quickly fills up. Also note that the shop is closed on Mondays. Mechanic A recommended an immediate replacement of wheel bearings, after inspection. I took my car to Fuji Auto, Kay told me NOT to replace the wheel bearings and instead to get new tires. Just finished getting new tires, ALL SOUNDS AND SYMPTOMS GONE. An example like this shows the difference in knowledge and expertise. After my last visit left me with a seriously foul feeling I knew it was time to look for a new place. I was referred by a friend and could not be more pleased with my experience: PROS: - Straight forward: Kay gave recommendations for the fix i needed and lots of pricing options. Friendly; no frills. Sold. Usually I see 5 stars for a business and I am still a bit skeptical. Got brake fluid done there and Fuji Auto is deserving of the 5 stars, honest, quick and great prices. Their service was $30 less than all the others and Firestone wanted $120...just cause its a BMW, no explanation just regular cars $90, BMW =$120. They are very honest here with diagnosis and will not try to get you to get something done that you don't need, which is very refreshing to know and I am grateful for!. Fuji's saved me at least $250 job because he decided to give me an honest diagnosis, which I wont go in to detail since it would be a long write up, but trust me, this place is spot on with their diagnosis but if they weren't could have easily got another $250 out of me or any avg. joe who isn't informed. To me, He embodies Japanese service and dedication that I admire working for Toyota. Believe me, I don't get that service from the dealers. We regularly service 4 cars here. Also, he will tell you if things needs to be replaced and things that DOES NOT need to be replace... even if the service manual says it has too. He knows his Toyota stuff pretty well. Kay is the best! He never tries to upsell me or trick me into doing work that I don't even need. If the technician can't recreate the problem, I don't get charged. Love it! In addition, the customer service is the absolute best. For example, I've been driven home (over 5 miles away) and then picked up shortly after. I've waited there for major service and it didn't take very long at all. Once, I was stranded at IHOP because my battery died. It was past 4:30pm on a Saturday afternoon. I called my roadside and it was going to take at least 90 minutes. I called Fuji and Kay told me he would send someone to jump my car and then I could come get the battery replaced. I only had to wait 5 minutes at IHOP and then I got a rebate on my battery warranty and only had to pay like $50. I'm not even positive that I bought the battery there (which I mentioned to them). The whole ordeal was over in less than 20 minutes once I called Fuji. I now live over 30 minutes away and I still come to Fuji for my car needs! Thank you Kay for your honesty and your diligence.
