Based on the reviews here on Yelp, I gave Fuji Auto a try and let me say, I was very impressed! I've been noticing that my brakes needed replacing because the car would shake when braking from high speeds. Well Mr. Kay and his staff checked out the car and I still had about 80% front 40% rear of my brake pads so wasn't necessary to change. However, to relieve the "shaking" he recommended resurfacing the rotors. It was a $105 to do so and the car runs brakes smoother, I don't have to push down on the brake far and the ride feels so much smoother. To you car freaks out there, they had a R34 Nissan Skyline on a lift...niiiiiiice. Anyways, I recommend coming here and it looks like I may become a regular customer from now! read more

I wrote my last review 5 years ago and everything I said still holds true. Something happened recently that made me need to write an update on Kay and his character, honesty, and professionalism. I went in on Saturday and had a bunch of work done, when it came time to pay (in cash), I was $6 short since the bill came up a little higher than I thought. He told me not to worry about it and sent me on my way. First off, class act right there for letting that happen. I would like to think I'm an honest person, so I made a plan to come back the next time they were open (Tuesday) to pay him back. I came by and gave him $10. I felt bad about not having the full amount on Sat, so I guess in my mind, that was an interest payment". I gave Kay the money, said our thank yous and good byes. I get to my car, start it, and start backing up when I hear a "MIKE!! MIKE!!". I see Kay running out of the shop towards me. I stop the car and he says "It was only $6 you owed" and gave me 4 $1 bills back! Incredible! Thank you Kay and the rest of your crew for being who you are. I came in at 8am to make sure they have time to see my car. My car wouldn't start and it wasn't my new battery. I'm assumed the owner Kay greeted me and said they did have time. I had the tow guy deliver my car to Fuji. I dropped my vehicle around 9:50ish am and discuss my problem and was on my merry way. He was able to quickly diagnosis the problem and gave me a estimate over the phone going over my options. I decide to have the car fixed and at around 12pm, I got a call that my car was done. Kay was pretty fast. Very great customer service skills. Key also did other inspections and told me my car had other issues at hand, and provided a itemized list of what needed to be done and at what cost. I appreciated that he was watching out for me. I will definitely be bring my other car for maintenance/oil change. Its been day 2 since the repairs and my car is running good again. No issues. read more

If you're looking for an honest mechanic, look nowhere! I've had Kay taking care of my car for almost a year. Ever since then, the car started acting out a lot. Well, that must be because I have an old car, but hey! Lucky me finding them, right! I was looking through my service history when I found something interesting. (I don't really understand cars, but this one got my attention): I had a major service done here like a couple months ago. I noticed that in the process they replaced my thermostat, radiator gasket, water pump, and everything. A week after the service, my coolant was leaking. I went back and Kay told me I need to replace it and it would cost at least $200. I didn't have the money, so I went to Wal-Mart and bought two gallon of pre-mixed antifreeze for $10 each and topped off my coolant every week or so Oh, the interesting part? Kay only charged my $27 for half a gallon of coolant!! What a bargain, right!? I'm pretty sure they don't use one of those cheap $10/gallon coolant you can get at Wal-Mart. This one is extracted straight from the pacific ocean. It won't boil off even if your car catch on fire! It's an extract of Neptune's breath. Won't freeze even at absolute zero. Attention BMW owners!!! Come here and save on battery replacement/service... My 5-series battery went out and I went to my local dealer who quoted me about a few bucks shy of a 1000.00 and a few days work... yes, only and simply a battery for a 2013 BMW. Apparently, the battery is huge (not common) and it requires reprogramming to disperse the energy from it to the vehicle. Obviously, already having overpaying for a BMW, I didn't want to also get ripped off on changing a battery so I called Kay at Fuji Auto. Fuji Auto is about a good 45min drive from my house but def well worth it (he also regularly services our other Japanese and German imports), especially in this case. He said he could do it and while I waited. The next day I came down and he already had the battery!!! He then installed it and had me out of there (no up-sales either!) under an hour and a half... with more than half the price of the dealer in savings, plus done by someone I trust and can rely on. Fuji Auto is worth the drive - call first and make an appointment; Kay is busy for a reason... because that place is so f**king good!!! read more

I've been taking my car to Fuji Auto for over 10 years. Kay has taken care of all my cars. He now takes care of my hubby's car, too. I used to live close to his shop, but now live about 30 miles away. Still, I continue to take my car to him for all my maintenance needs. I trust him completely, and he always calls me before starting any major work. One time, my Nissan Maxima caught on fire due to a malfunctioning alternator. I came into my garage one afternoon filled with smoke. I opened my garage door to let some air in, and popped the hood. Suddenly, fire erupted, and luckily, I found the fire extinguisher to put it out. I called Kay right away, and he told me exactly what to do. I towed the car to his shop, and he even called Nissan for me to see if there was a recall first before starting any work. Fortunately, there was a recall, so Nissan replaced all the parts for me. Kay was nice enough to let me keep my car in his shop overnight, so I can have it towed to the dealership when it opened the next morning. This is a True to Life Real Life Scam experienced from Mr .K & Fuji Auto on Valley Bl , La Puente - I took my car there to Fix a Overheating problem. Mr.K replaced the thermostat & said I needed a New Waterpump & timing belt. I couldn't afford to get that Job for $895 or so. So I left. Mr.Kay told me to be careful. The temperature needle on my car was constantly running 2/3rds up close to the red. I looked at my service records from Fuji Auto. & it shows that Mr.K & Fuji Auto replaced a New Water Pump & timing belt only 11 mos ago. & I've only driven the car 4000 miles since that service. So it struck me as very odd for Mr. K at Fuji Auto to have recommended for me to get a New Water Pump. & Timing Belt replacement on my latest service there 2 weeks ago. Last Friday My car overheated & the needle went into the red. I pulled over to the shoulder. Off to the side of the freeway. Fortunately for me a Freeway Service Patrol Maintenance Mechanic frm. The County of LA came to my assistance . He found a hose underneath near the heater was cut & tampered with - which caused all my coolant to leak & my car to overheat. He cut the tampered hose part off & reconnected the hose. Ever since than my car has been running at a cooler temperature & I did not have to get a New Water pump & No new timing belt from Mr. k & Fuji Auto. As a matter of fact the maintenance mechanic from FSP checked & told me that my water pump was good & nothing was wrong with it. So Mr.K & Fuji Auto being in the expertise of Japanese Auto Repair ? & I can only conclude that Mr.K & Fuji Auto was deliberately trying to scam me for me to come back for a major service job to have my Waterpump & timing belt replaced. I recently moved from Santa Barbara all the way out to Georgia. On my way down to LA, my air conditioner shut off. I knew I was going to have to get some repairs done on my car before driving all the way across country (needed my brakes done and needed a belt replaced) so this was just another thing I had to do. When I arrived in Hacienda Heights, I went on to Yelp to find a good auto mechanic I could trust. Based on the reviews, I tried Fuji Automotive. I dropped off my car on a Saturday, expecting that my car probably would not get looked at until the next day, but Mr. Kay said he would probably have it ready by 5:00 PM. True to his word, he called a little after 4:30 to say my car was ready. Unfortunately, I was unable to pick it up before 5 when they closed, and they are also not open on Sunday or Monday, so I could not pick it up until Tuesday. He said to drive my car around to see if any of the problems persisted, and bring them back if it did. After about 50 miles of driving, the air conditioner shut off, and my power steering went out. I brought my car back the next day, and explained the problems. Mr. Kay apologized, and said he thought the new compressor they put it may have been slightly too large, which knocked off the belt for my steering and shut the air conditioner off. Because I was leaving in 2 days, I told him that I absolutely had to have it fully functional by the next day at 5. He called me at 12 PM the next day to pick it up, and I am very happy to say my car survived the 2400 mile trip from LA to Georgia, with the air conditioner working amazingly! The thing that sets a business apart is how they handle their mistakes. Mr. Kay was professional, understanding of time constraints and very apologetic when the first attempts to fix my car fell a little short. I was never talked down to like I have been at other mechanics, he quoted me a price and then charged me what he quoted, and he never pressured me to get a service or replace a part I did not need. I can't believe I've never written a review for Fuji Auto. My wife found out about Fuji over 10 years ago when Kay offered his service to the office she worked at during that time. We have been loyal customers ever since. Kay is the most honest business person I have ever had the pleasure of working with, in any profession. That is a lot to say of any business owner, but especially of a car repair shop. To give an example, my wife brought in her truck to get a new tire after she ended up with a flat. Kay had ordered the tire for her the previous day, but when she arrived Kay noticed her tires were still under warranty with the store she purchased them from. He told her that she should go back and get a new tire for free from them, and not pay for a new tire. HE PURPOSELY TOLD US NOT TO GIVE HIM MONEY SO THAT WE COULD SAVE THE MONEY BY USING THE WARRANTY. He doesn't hide fees. He doesn't try to get you to do repairs or services that aren't necessary, he'll even let you know if you can go an extra oil change or two before maintenance on other parts if you need to save the money. He doesn't try to upsell you on parts you don't need, but he will get you what you ask for as quickly as anyone can. Fuji Auto is about a half hour from my house, and there are MANY shops closer, but I will gladly go out of my way to go here, always! It's hard to find a good mechanic that you can trust. I recommend Kay and Fuji Auto to everyone that I can, and I can honestly say that if you go to Fuji Auto, you will never want to go anywhere else. They are the absolute best around. read more

II'm pretty hard to please when it comes to vehicle repair. I detest taking my car to the dealer as most of the times in the past I've taken a royal screwing, so that practice stopped many, many years ago. I came across Fuji Auto from a friend's recommendation and I have to say I have been very, VERY pleased with Kay and his crew. I have a Ford Explorer that has needed a water pump replacement, front end ball joints, master cylinder and breaks, and radiator replacement. Each time Kay has risen to the occasion with providing quality work at good prices. My father had a problem where his car would not start and the AAA guy said it was a bad starter. Kay took a look and it was only a corroded battery terminal. He cleaned the battery terminals and did not charge for the repair! That is some good customer service.
