    Steak Cheese Spring Roll
    Sandra S.

I was craving hibachi and did not want to sit in a restaurant so decided to try Fuji Japan after one researching. I am glad I tried it, it was very good. I ordered the chicken and steak hibachi with fried rice and vegetables. It came with yum yum sauce. The chicken was delicious and the steak was pretty good as well, it was just a bit dry. I ordered online and picked it up, i had no issues with the service, it was ready within 15-20 minutes. The restaurant is clean and easy to find, literally in the layhill shopping center. Very convenient if you're craving hibachi and don't want to experience sitting at the restaurant were they cook it in front of you. Oh and the steak and cheese spring rolls were pretty good as well! Will definitely return!

    Chicken hibachi with fried rice

I stopped by to grab a friend some lunch and then decided to get food for myself. My experience was phenomenal. I was greeted and my order was taken in a timely manner. I was able to see my food get cooked. Nothing was frozen and the food was fresh. I ordered the chicken hibachi with fried rice. I didn't get a chance to take a photo of my friends food but I got the steak hibachi with noodles. They included yum yum sauce with the orders, which I was not expecting. Most places don't include it and charge extra so I was very happy. This is the best hibachi I've had in a long time. I've shared this place with friends and family; it's a must try! The restaurant was clean and plenty of free parking.

This place is not as great as it used to be from our last visit over 2 years ago. The chicken teriyaki bento box for $11.95 was large with plenty of items in it, but the chicken was hard and stringy. We also had the Alaska Roll sushi (with salmon, avocado, and cucumber) for $7.25, which only had 6 small pieces. This is pretty expensive and not worth ordering. You get more pieces of sushi at Giant or Harris Teeter!

Shrimp tempura bento box - it was not great but good enough to enjoy the food. Cost around $14.

For me, Fuji Japan isn't quite authentic Japanese restaurant. it's kinda fast food in Japanese version. Mostly, their menu have Sushi and Hibachi. (No Ramen/Udon noodle or Donburi/Curry rice bowl) I never have Sushi yet, so I can't say anything about that but I can say they have many choices of Sushi for you. I only had Bento box and Hibachi here. I think they all were good one as standard. They might not really perfect but it is enough to enjoy the food. As for ambient and service are okay. There are some dining-in seats but decorative inside is not really feel like Japanese atmosphere. Anyway, overall it is still a good place to get some taste of Japanese food if you aren't overthinking of details.

My husband and I ordered carry out. Unfortunately, our dissatification prompted me to write this review. I will start with a positive in that the food servings are large. The fried oysters were pretty tasty but the breading was very thick. Our dissatisfaction was because the chicken, rice and noodles seemed to have been recycled from an earlier cook, hopefully not from yesterday. Some pieces of the chicken were very hard and inedible. My husband's steak was overcooked. He asked for medium but it was well done. This is our first time trying this restaurant but we will not return.

a plate of sushi and rolls

The sushi was fresh and good size portions with plenty of options. Well there's not a lot of seating, most people just order and take out I think my wife and I have been there about five times and I've tried at least one new role each time. Always tasty. :-) We did try the hibachi once. As this is not their specialty, I would suggest you look elsewhere if that's what you're looking for.

This was a pleasant surprise, cause some places make their rice too dry or too mushy... and like little bear, it was just right. Sorry, I've been reading Goldilocks and the Three Bears to my daughter and I've been comparing everything with her with a middle ground mentality. One complaint was that the sushi was falling apart and not wrapped as tight but the taste was still pretty good... overall... I'll definitely be coming back again.

SO happy this place opened up near where I live (literally 5 minutes away). The food was cooked pretty quickly so I didn't have to wait long, and the ingredients were very fresh! We got the spicy tuna roll, salmon skin roll, and California roll. I LOVE how there's not a lot of rice and a lot of filling. Rolled so tight and perfectly. The hibachi scallops were sooo good. I got it with the fried rice and an extra side of hibachi noodles. Definitely making this a regular place to visit!

I think this is my new spot after I play golf at Northwest Golf Course up the street. I ordered online and it was easy. After you spend $25 or after $65 you can choose a free item from the list they provide. The service and sushi is great. Can't wait to try the other items on the menu!

Hibachi Shrimp & Teriyaki Chicken Lunch

I'm not sure what the other reviews meant about the being the best. I came here after seeing recommendations through our neighborhood listSERV. I ordered the Hibachi chicken & Shrimp lunch with extra chicken and veggies (was not given extra of either) and the spring rolls. Chicken wasn't consistent and didn't taste fresh. The fried rice was sweet as it they put sugar in it. The veggies were good, unfortunately the shrimp was not cleaned, some don't mind but $25 for lunch is way too much for that. Portion size is the only plus! Spring rolle are tiny and taste frozen (see pics)

Love this place and their sushi lunch roll specials. Relatively large rolls with a good rice to fish ratio (very little rice, lots of fish). Very fresh salmon. My go-to are the yellowtail avocado, salmon avocado, and spicy salmon crunchy rolls. All the spicy fish rolls come with tempura crunch. I like that you can get yellowtail and avocado rolls here, many places only offer it with cucumber or scallions. Plus this place has awesome groupons. They unfortunately charge you $1 to order online and no longer give you free eggrolls for exceeding a certain amount online. But still with groupons and even their normal lunch special price, it's great! I'd say probably not worth it at dinner and their bento boxes here aren't that great. But the rolls are definitely worth it at lunch time!!! We are now regulars.

    Classic Milk Bubble Tea
    Adam L.

The staff were warm and kind. The speaker at the kiosk helped to hear what staff said on top of the cooking sound in the background. The classic milk bubble tea had an interesting lid to prevent spilling. The chicken teriyaki was tasty with many vegetables. The fried rice was slightly salty, so maybe should have ordered the white rice.

Tables not cleaned and most uneven and wonky. Just one sad front of house employee working that I saw just getting through the orders that are self order. This place has zero ambiance. I went to the bathroom and toilet tissue was nearly out and there was no way to even get anyone's attention to attend to that. Employee just kept their head down working. Food- drinks were great. My favorite is the watermelon coconut jelly. We had the pork chop pineapple bun. This is still a good sandwich. Tastes like they used to make it. Juicy pork chop, sweet pineapple bun. The construction of the sandwich leaves much to be desired because all the wet veggie ingredients slide the entire sandwich. Once you start eating, you should not put this sandwich down or it will come apart. They should put the sandwich in a sleeve. We ordered the fried chicken bento box. This bento has changed a bit from their previous version. With the new paper packaging, there are less compartments for goodies. The fried chicken recipe is different as all the batter fell off the chicken and was just a mess. There was close to zero pickles greens. With the dish which I feel brings this kind of bento together. Conclusion is food is decent, ambiance sucks. Would order to go from here but any fried food from here will be a disaster after you get it home. Had high hopes as I loved the previous location's food. Now being able to "look behind the curtain" and see how everything is made, I kind of feel question the cleanliness of this place.

I had it a couple of times in Wheaton Mall when I lived in Wheaton. One of the times that was noteworthy was in January 2020. I was in the office that morning in Columbia, and my girlfriend of that time had called or texted saying that she was really sick, she was struggling breathing, and to take her to the doctor. I'm like I'm at work, but I have Montgomery County (Rockville) work travel I happened to be able to do this afternoon. So, I can swing by Wheaton to pick her up to go to an urgent care by the mall. I waited with her at urgent care. The doctor gave her pills or something and commented that it's been a particularly bad winter with bad colds that have come in. Afterward, we went to the mall to get a bubble tea at Kokee Tea & maybe eat lunch too in the mall. We enjoyed the Kokee Tea. Staff is nice & efficient, prices are comparable to Kung Fu Tea, but better quality in my opinion. We didn't realize it at the time, my girlfriend likely had Covid, which wasn't diagnosed in the US until late February 2020. Her work was interesting. In early January, they had people who had work travel in the office from China. Her work was furloughed not long after that. Then, she had symptoms of Covid not long after that. Anyway, it was an interesting time. If in Wheaton Mall, I'd be back at Kokee.

My wife ordered a taro milk tea with a cheese foam cap and I went with a Vietnamese iced coffee with an ube cream topping. Both of our drinks were well prepared and had a ton of flavor. My wife liked that you can choose what kind of tea (black, green, or Oolong) for the taro drink, and we both found the cheese foam to be perfectly creamy and savory. Similarly, my strong iced coffee was prepared according to my taste with 0% sugar, and the cream topping had a discernible ube flavor without excessive sweetness. We both opted for grass jelly mixed into our potables and appreciated the soft, slurpable texture which indicated freshness. Our drinks averaged around $8 per, which is pretty standard. The interior of Ding was clean and bright, certainly pleasant enough in which to pass some time. We are glad we tried this place and can easily foresee returning when in the area.
