This has been our go to sushi place for years. It's a little pricey but DoorDash will deliver to us up in Olney so it's worth it! We usually get miso soup, a mix of rolls and Nigiri. We always enjoy it. We have tried many other sushi places but always come back to this one. Our orders don't normally include soy sauce or chopsticks so make sure you have some at home!

Amazing sushi! My wife and I first ordered from here for New Years Eve to ring in 2021 as it was the only year we had no friends due to the severity of the pandemic and lack of vaccines. We decided to order from here again on Wednesday night to celebrate my wife's two year work anniversary and me graduating from physical therapy on the same day. We ordered a Vegetable Tempura Udon as well as the following rolls: Dynamite, Futomaki, Tarter, Fantasy, Mobydick, Crispy Spicy Tuna, Sweet Potato, Green, and Philadelphia. The rolls were very wide and filling to the point we had leftovers. I think the sushi chef may have been different and made it Korean style rather than the traditional Japanese we remember before, but the food was still delicious and portions were much larger. The prices are also reasonable, especially for the portions. We look forward to ordering from here again and dining here eventually in person.

This place is hidden away in the alley behind dunkin right across from the Wheaton metro. But it's a hidden gem. My friend had ordered delivery from here before but this was the first time I've been in. Well it definitely won't be the last. I got a sushi combo and a specialty roll and a bottled water (they don't have a fountain) for under 40. The quality and portion size of the nigiri and rolls is generous and everything tasted great. I'll definitely be back when I want sushi now that hinode closed this is probably my new go to.

I wish I had discovered this sushi spot earlier!!! The salmon hand rolls and spicy tuna rolls were freaking amazing and so is their salmon roe!!! Honestly all you need is the salmon hand roll!!! It's that great!!!

I love getting sushi from here! I've lived so close to here but didn't get to try it until after they reopened. One time I called five minutes after closing, and the kind staff still let me put my order in, which I really appreciated. All of the fish tastes fresh and is obviously good quality + nice portion sizes. I have not tried many of their specialty rolls but the regular rolls have not disappointed me (spicy salmon, avocado, and shrimp tempura). Def my go to spot for sushi!

It's one of the few sushi places in Wheaton so naturally it is one of the better places for this area but this is one of the cases where I would be willing drive out to Rockville instead. The ratio of fish to rice is low. I got the cali roll, eel, and spicy tuna combo with miso soup which was $15 lunch special. The quality is average, and generally speaking if you have a craving and want to stay local, this place will hit 5/5 for that. But in comparison to the rest of the county?, it's average and quite pricy for the quality and ratio. Customer service was solid 5/5 tho.

In terms of quality, this place is literally the next best thing to a Japanese steakhouse/sushi spot. Fresh sushi, always, and very reasonable prices.

We were in the mood for sushi on a Saturday evening, and found this nearby place on Yelp. This is why I love Yelp. Anyway, they have these awesome sushi combos here that come with soup and salad, and we loved it. Place is clean, food very fresh and well prepared. We will definitely be back.

We were greeted by their friendly staff and ordered a bunch of food, because we wanted it all! You order at the counter and they bring your food to the table. We started with chicken egg rolls. One order included 2 egg rolls. I loved that they were not greasy and that they were lightly fried. Inside was ground chicken. Very tasty comfort food for a cold night. Next we had sushi rolls. We thoroughly enjoyed the spicy tuna and shrimp tempura rolls. They were perfect in every way Finally, we had the steak and shrimp hibachi platters, mine with teriyaki sauce and noodles and my husband's with rice. Both came with cabbage, broccoli, and carrots. The portions are good-sized. We could only eat half and took the rest home for dinner the next night. Scrumptious! I highly recommend Hibachi Express. We picked the middle tier option. We thought it was a little pricey but the quality of meats was very good. And the amount of food you get was really a lot and this is coming from a heavy hitter at AYCE restaurants. They also included dessert. When you arrive at the restaurant, the hostess greets you and ask if you have a reservation. Both times I've been here, it wasn't too busy but it was during the week. Service is really good. They're always very helpful in explaining the menu. We went with the AYCE Master option. The Legend option with the Wagyu looks appealing but I can't justify spending $88 a person. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem spending the money, since most of it goes to alcohol when we're having dinner anyways, but it was a really nice experience. This would be a place I would bring friends from out of town who want to have an experience similar what you would find NYC or Vegas. We had a really good time, especially on $10 margaritas and all you can eat meat. The presentation is really wonderful and I love the thought behind the presentation when it comes out. The Wagyu Fried Rice and Curry is one of the bests I've ever had. And the scallops with butter on the grill were awesome. Definitely a favorite. I will add the the iPad that you order with will start a timer for 90 minutes, and you can only put in an order every ten minutes which was annoying, so I did feel a bit of pressure with ordering. The time limit is to control time spent which makes sense if it was busy. I would have given 5 stars if it weren't for the wet mop smell we had during dinner, but don't know if it is because it was hot out and the AC was not blasting high enough with all the grills going off, so it was kind of hot and sticky during dinner. I may come back next time to check out Happy Hour next time! Vibes are actually pretty cool. Service is great.

We ordered pretty quickly, but with how busy it was, it took a bit for the food to come out CHILEAN SEA BASS - 37 As I scanned through, my eyes immediately fell on the miso sea bass. Despite the price point, I knew I had to go for it because sea bass is hard to find around here. This set came with rice, house salad, miso soup, and cold tofu. The sides were pretty standard -- no compliments, but no complaints either. On the other hand, the sea bass was wonderful. Super creamy and soft, with a strong miso sweetness that packed so much umami upon each bite. I would definitely splurge on this set just for the sea bass. My friend got the ramen and didn't love it, so I'll probably avoid that during future visits. The katsu curry that the table next to us ordered looked and smelled amazing. Kanpai is in a prime place along Rockville Pike, but depending on when you go you may find easy parking. (If you're not bothered about where to park, ignore what I just said.) Out front there's something that looks like a tuk-tuk or rickshaw. Tbh, don't know if it's theirs or the business next door. The restaurant itself is clean and elegant. Also, not as loud as some Korean BBQs (thinking of KPOT off of Randolph Rd), which is important if you don't like being overwhelmed by everyone else's noise. That is one big '+' in Kanpai's favor. The waiter was cool and very helpful. Because of him I now know what the thin meat slices are meant for (which is for the soup), before then I had no clue. The food itself is good. Like, why wouldn't it be? I actually prefer the shabu-shabu (soup), makes me wish I knew how to do that myself so I wouldn't have to go out as much. Yes, the grill meats were great, as was the kimchi. These places are not cheap, but it was enjoyable while I was there. If you're not in a rush you can go a few doors down afterward to an import store selling everything from K-chips to puzzle-kits. So I would say...take your time. But don't warm your seats for more than 90 minutes, as Korean BBQs tend to kick people out (nicely, nicely) if one overstays. P.S. I'm sure they have some great drinks there, but even if I wanted to I couldn't loiter. That's what Bethesda is for. (Or at least how it used to be.)
