Continuing alphabet series into 2019, I is for iSushi. I lived in Wheaton 3 years, used to sometimes eat in the food court of the mall, where iSushi is located. This is just a food stand, near currently Pollo Campero. I ate at iSushi perhaps 2 or 3 times. One of the noteworthy times was on Saturday, January 12, 2019. I had started a Biggest Loser challenge at my work and was trying to lose weight. I got sushi rolls, which was fairly healthy, not a whole lot of food, which a bit of a negative as I was hungry not that long later. iSushi is decent, but nothing to write home about. I've had worse sushi like one time a year earlier in January 2018, I got Safeway grocery store sushi. Now that sushi was weak! My girlfriend at that time was significantly late, like an hour late. We were going to go to a sit-down restaurant in Wheaton before a game night at apartments above the Safeway, but because she was so dang late, we grabbed sushi quickly from Safeway. Interesting side note about this day at Wheaton Mall: On this particular Saturday, I had a 2nd (& last) date with this woman for the movie at AMC Wheaton called On the Basis of Sex about Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg's early days in law school trying to get into law, which was almost unheard of when she started in 1956. At the end of the movie, there were captions about Ginsberg in her real life with pictures. When seeing the real life facts, my date said I didn't realize this a true story. I was surprised she was thinking Ruth Bader Ginsberg was some nice fictional story. In summary, staff at iSushi was nice. It is not a place I'd rush back to, but it's not a bad option in the food court. read more

My favorite sushi roll contains shrimp tempura and cream cheese. Nothing better than a freshly prepared roll where the warm tempura shrimp is placed next to cream cheese that starts to soften and then melts in your mouth! My favorite place that made such a roll closed and I've been searching for something similar for years. I'm so glad I came across iSushi's "Green Dragon" roll which has shrimp tempura, cream cheese and avocado on top. Such a great roll and I watched them make it fresh right in front of me! Mall sushi doesn't sound appealing, but I recommend giving this place a try! read more

I am really horribly disappointed. We were looking forward to this order. My husband loves sushi, so we ordered a bunch of food for delivery. More than half our order was removed from the order. We got a text saying that things were taken off and we got a refund for it. When that much food is being removed, someone needs to call the customer and TELL THEM. Because now we have enough food for 1 person, and nothing for the other 2. I suppose if you only want sushi, go ahead and order sushi. And my guess is that you may be better off going in person to get your food so you can be told "what you want is not available." My husband said his sushi was "okay." so while he got a full meal, he also was disappointed. read more

Ordered through Uber eats. I got the 21 piece sushi sampler and the red skin roll. The sushi was good quality and the rice was still warm when it got to me. The sushi sampler was a good deal and the nigiri was pretty good. They did a good job with the eel but gave me shrimp and imitation crab, I would preferred more fish. The red skin roll was very good, I would definitely recommend. I would try their other rolls too read more

I headed to Wheaton Mall on Memorial day with my friend expressly to get a slice of pizza from Costco. Should have dawned on us when the parking lot was left with tons of empty spaces that Costco was closed. We were hungry so we decided food court it will be. I really wanted that pizza slice, but when it's not an option (not even a pizza option...but coming soon), sushi it is! iSushi has a $7.99 2 roll plus miso soup lunch special. I had the spicy California roll, because I am that boring, and a sweet potato with cream cheese roll, which I've never had before (Yay, me, for trying something new). Both were really good! I didn't expect the sweet potato to be purple. The miso soup was hot, but bland. No tofu pieces. It took a while for the sushi maker to create my rolls, but that was ok because I knew they'd be fresh. I also had to go back for soy sauce and she gave me just one pack. Next time I'll be sure to ask for two. A can of Coke is just $1.35 - that's cheaper than most soda fountain prices. read more

Hidden gem located in the Wheaton Mall food court. Tons of vegetarian sushi options including multiple combos available, including a lunch special. I got a veggie roll and also tried inari for the first time here. It tasted excellent and I can't wait to try it again. Sushi tastes extra fresh and was made quickly. Pretty impressive for food court sushi. $15ish for the combo I got. Came with a piece of each salmon, tuna, crab, egg, eel, and white tuna. If you are a real sushi eater please dont do this to yourself. It is mall food court sushi. Honestly I think I have had better at Safeway. Pieces are super small for the price, rice is too wet and for some reason everything was hot like if it was sitting on a stove until I picked it up. Fish tasted like fish. Only reason I am giving it a three is because if you are at the mall and you're craving sushi and this is all you have go for it but again if you are a real sushi eater not just california and do not wnt to be left disappointed try elsewhere. read more

We ordered through grubhub and It was over and hour later than the stated time. I called the restaurant and they said the food had been made but they were waiting for a driver. When the food finally came it was completely inedible. Doused in mayonnaise and completely unappetizing. Who wants sushi that has been sitting out for 45 minutes?? Highly DON'T recommend. read more

I am updating my review of iSushi after a year. Originally, I loved this place and looked forward to going there, but then the staff changed, and while they are very nice, I could tell that the quality of the food degraded dramatically. I can no longer recommend this is as a quality place to get sushi. So very sorry. read more

I just had the worst experience here. They ran my card multiple times. After waiting about 10-15 minutes, it showed up on my online bank statement. I showed them and they refused to give me the food claiming it didn't go through even though I can see that it did. They couldn't issue a refund. I was told to wait for what I'm not sure because the system clearly wasn't working correctly. read more

I have never found sushi in a food court that was palatable. iSushi has been open for two days in the food court at Wheaton Mall, and the sushi is surprisingly good. It rivals sushi that I've eaten in restaurants in DC and New York. My order was rather pedestrian: California roll and Shrimp tempura roll. However, the presentation was pleasantly aesthetic and the service was fast, given that the sushi is made to order. read more

Nope. Sorry. I can not agree with all of the great reviews for iSushi. I ordered the lunch special of 2 rolls and miso soup. My first roll was the spicy salmon with cucumber and it wasn't bad except for the abundant amount of spicy mayo. The salmon did taste fresh. Now...the second roll was the yellowtail roll and this is where it goes wrong. The fish didn't taste as fresh and beautiful as yellowtail can be. It tasted bland and dry. Also, the miso soup was watery. The service was very friendly, but I won't be back. read more

Food was good but just got a surprise when my transaction from 7/2 just got posted to my account on 7/13. This actually overdrew the account I used for the transaction. I was satisfied with the food but unsatisfied that the transaction was processed so slowly. I will never eat here again and if I do I definitely will not use my card here again. read more

iSushi, is finding a diamond in a mall, food court rough...delicious! Already selecting what to get next time I go there.

I feel like I should start by saying this: iSushi is probably overlooked often, due to the fact that one would not really pay much attention to "just yet ANOTHER" [fairly cheap] sushi kiosk in the mall. NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE. iSushi is the furthest thing from "just another" sushi place. You can get sushi already-made in a box, or, if your order isn't already out there, they make it there fresh for you. Vegetarians: there are options out there for you too! And not only just the boring old cucumber roll (though let's be honest, vegetarian sushi lovers, the old classic cucumber roll never goes out of style). I myself happen to be a vegetarian, and all for $9.99, I got 6 cucumber avocado rolls, 2 thing-a-mabobbers that I was hesitant to try, but tasted delicious (rice and cucumber in this kind of thin sweet dough), and 6 pieces of sushi that had starfruit and carrots, which tasted delicious but were also totally not your average sushi place, which was spectacular. Also, if you go there and are hesitant about their fairly cheap prices, know this: you're not getting bad quality food. All it is is a great deal! I just went there today, and since I live pretty close, I can honestly say that I'm overjoyed to have found this, what one might call a, hmmmm "hidden gem". The staff are also incredibly nice. My biggest regret? Not tipping the staff. *disclaimer*- I don't know if they accept tips, but I have been kicking myself all day for not asking them if they do. I have been to a lot of great sushi places (I won't name them here to not be unfair to other sushi places), ranging from very cheap to a-dollar-a-piece of sushi (or sometimes even more...for the VEGGIE options), and this is still by far the best. Sorry I can't stop raving about this place- I'll try to finish up quickly. I mentioned the staff being really great- they are. They're more than just nice... they look honestly HAPPY to do their job. I am so, SO glad I came here! If you're in the Rockville/Bethesda area of MD (or even Washington DC-though that's a bit of a longer drive.....) Anyway, if you're a sushi person, vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike, if I had you take 1 thing away from this ... GO THERE. Trust me, you'll thank me. Happy eating! :) read more
