Hanging out in Maryland on business and it's dinner time! So I did my usual Yelp due-diligence to find a good sushi place since it's what I was craving. I found Fuji Sushi and here's how it went! Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right on the edge of what looks like a campus of strip malls is this gem. Inside is pretty traditional. I don't want to use the word boring, but the decor was straightforward. Dark woods, a drop ceiling and pictures of Japanese-related art all over the place. It was quiet despite it being pretty busy in there. Service: I sat right at the sushi counter so I could see all of the action! I was also all alone so I didn't want to take up an entire table. Cat took care of me and she was pretty chill. She got me what I needed and everything was fine. However my sushi did take a while to come out. Food: I started with some Shumai which are steamed shrimp dumplings. They were hot, with a medium boldness, not very salty or shrimpy. A good mix of overall flavors. Next up was the Amazing Roll which is a "spicy crunch salmon" and fresh mango on the inside with blackened tuna, sweet shrimp, eel and avocado outside then finished with a special sauce and assorted tobiko on top. It was fresh, not spicy with a light-medium boldness, a good moderate crunch. This was DELIGHTFUL. Lastly I went with their Flora Roll. I can't remember what was in this roll since it's no longer offered on the menu, but it was really succulent, creamy, spicy, with a moderate crunch and I also REALLY liked this roll. Value: When I went my shumai was $5.75 and each of my rolls were $16.00 and when I look at their menu now, the prices haven't changed. THAT'S amazing. Lol. I'm not the best judge for sushi because I don't like eating raw fish, and usually only order avocado rolls, but I went a bit more experimental and tried the scallop sushi. It came raw and reinforced my aversion to the raw seafood, but mainly because of the texture and lack of taste to me. I LOVED the vegetable tempura and their avocado roll! My friends had delicious and wonderful looking sushi that was both exciting to see and hear about. Our server was super helpful and sweet. I forgot to ask her name because of the delicious plum wine, and the environment was just so friendly, exclusive, and all encompassing, very cozy. I frequent this place for the lunch combo special because the hibachi deal with a soup and fried rice is a bargain. Came here for Easter with my mom and girlfriend for her first time. Started with a Fuji roll, miso soup, and seaweed salad. The Fuji roll is my new favorite and the soup and salad are spectacular. We finished with the sunrise roll and chicken hibachi. Everything is always so good and the service on top of that is exceptional every time. They want you to have a great experience whether you dine in or take out. I can't recommend this place enough. We always order a few lower priced rolls and at least two specialty rolls. Overall we enjoyed the 5 rolls we received with some clear favorites quickly becoming clear after first tastes. The pop is served in cans, but they do have "refills" as stated on the menu. Parking is available right out front, but it's a strip mall so spots may not be close. Bathroom was clean. We've been here a few times. This place seems very well liked and busy (lots of diners and take out orders from what I observed) despite their location at the far end of the Festival plaza. I got a salad with seared shrimp and mango sauce. Very tasty and many pieces of shrimp, to my surprise. My husband's shrimp fried rice also came with a decent amount of shrimp. The salmon and red snapper appetizer that is on a specials/seasonal menu was far less appealing. Pieces of sashimi and various ingredients are arranged around some kind of dipping sauce but the sauce is just poured on the plate so the presentation is not impressive. The other various ingredients I mentioned that are along the circumference of the plate along with the sashimi consisted of what seems like different types of seaweed and what looked like crushed wasabi peas. I did try the seaweed and they were okay but the wasabi peas were crushed and didn't seem edible. As they were neither very decorative nor edible, they didn't seem to serve much purpose. Thus, the appetizer was a bit of a disappointment. However our overall experience was positive and our server was very engaging and friendly. read more

Love this place. Service is friendly and expedient. Usually we start with the edamame and the lettuce wraps. Frequently wish they'd provide a few extra pieces of lettuce, but I also never ask. Frequently order the roti canai chicken in yellow curry sauce app too - I just love it! (I can never figure out if it's the same yellow curry sauce as in their entrees though). We've tried the chicken katsu and it's a little underwhelming. Have also tried variations of the hibachi options - fine but nothing overly exciting (though this could be because it always been takeout and not eat in). Side pineapple fried rice is good but felt like it was a little too "yellow". Almost too many rolls on the menu that I constantly forget what I liked last time or over order because my eyes are bigger than my stomach (which says a lot). But a few I like include: St. Patrick (minus coconut flakes), holiday roll, magical, deluxe rainbow, sweet potato roll (eat in only otherwise not as crunchy), dragon roll, dynamite roll, several of their more simple/traditional single fish focused rolls and sushi/sashimi are also great. [Not specific to this place but when did rolls have to get all wild and fancy, over stuff stuffed and expensive???] Definitely recommend Fuji Sushi. read more

The staff at Fuji Sushi are really friendly and provide exceptional service, which made for a positive experience to begin the night. They offer a wide variety of sushi and specialty rolls for you to choose from. The Bel Air roll, which included fried salmon, peeked our interest. I've never had fried salmon and especially not in a sushi roll, but I fell in love with it, so much so, that we had to order more sushi even though we had already received our entrees. The Fuji Chicken was also really good. Tempura fried chicken covered in a special sweet and sour sauce and served with rice and steamed broccoli. Fuji Sushi should definitely be your stop for great quality, fresh sushi. Their entrees are really good, but their sushi is the star of the show. I got both of them and I do not know which one it was if they had a bad batch or I can't stomach or raw food. I was blowing up the toilet at 4 AM to 6 AM. I've been here a few times to grab their lunch specials but only a handful of times for dinner. I was craving sushi the other night and went after work with a friend. We ordered six rolls and some miso soup. We didn't get any of the super fancy rolls, just pretty basic ones. I enjoyed my sushi but I wasn't blown away by it. The seaweed kind of had a weird texture to it and all the rolls were only six pieces. Not the end of the world but both my friend and I were expecting six rolls to look like a lot more. Now about the fish-- I get when you get spicy tuna it's kind of minced up because they add the spice to it but even in the Yellowtail roll where I'm used to whole pieces of fish it looked minced up. Prices are decent here. I feel like I would definitely come back here for lunch specials but I enjoy some sushi places in Towson more for dinner. read more
