I came here with my family to meet up with my friend and her little family. We were the first ones in the restaurant when it opened at noon and were promptly sat down. The restaurant was soooo cold so I'm not sure if they just purposely dont turn on the heat since the hot pot/korean bbq will be sure to keep you toasty. For the table we got the hot pot and the korean bbq options. For Korean bbq we got the beef bulgogi, galbi, garlic shrimp, squid and onions. They brought a decent amount of all of them to the table. For hot pot we ordered two broths per family. I got the pork bone broth that was very light in flavor. For hot pot items you have to walk up and gather your own meats, veggies, noodles etc. On the other side there a small sauce/seasoning bar, dessert bar and an ice cream area. Other all the korean bbq meats were pretty good! The garlic shrimp had the best seasoning. The cut of the galibi was a bit fatty but still pretty good. They were really good at changing the grill ever so often. The hot pot items were great additions to the broth. The staff was also nice. Overall a good spot to meet up with some friends. The price point I thought was expensive (2 people for both hotpot/korean bbq on a Saturday was $100+ with tip) but it was still fun and we left with very full tummys. read more

Admittedly, I've mainly had hot pot here but their kbbq options aren't that bad. In fact, because their shabu meat is of a higher quality, I know it's the same meat for their kbbq, so I know it's good. But I just prefer the hot pot option. Making my own sauce out of the house sauce with ShaCha, minced garlic, green onion and parsley is my greatest weakness. So close to how I eat with my family at home... Soft opening for this place in the Festival that has had a sign up for more than a year. The website implies a Korean bbq component but for now, it is just hot pot. I am not very familiar with hot pot. But you start by choosing a soup base, which is what you'll be cooking everything in at your table right in front of you. You get your own personal stove that is built in the table. You then go to the food buffet and bring back anyghing you want to cook in the soup base. I chose the pork bone broth, which was very mild in flavor. My friend chose the mushroom soup, which was even milder. The Thai Tom Yom or the hot chili seems to be the way to go if you want more from your soup. There is a wide range of meats and veggies. Seafood from snow crab, lobster sections, scallops, clams, mussels, and oysters. Thin slices of beef and lamb were popular and quick to cook in the broth. There are other offerings not often found in restaurants -- frog legs, tripe, organ meat. Various tofu. Different types of noodles, mushrooms, and greens all looked very fresh. The meats were often frozen. The next thing you need is to make your sauce from the sauce bar. Customize your own by mixing from choices like soy sauce, hoisin, sesame oil, sriracha, and others. Mix in green onion and cilantro. Put things in soup. Take out when cooked. Dip in sauce. Eat. Repeat. It gets messy. At least for me. Fruit in the dessert section was plain and not special -- grapes, oranges, cut up melon. The hersheys ice cream is very nice though. Service was good. They often come around for drink refill, taking away plates, checking on your broth. Price is high for what you get. 38 bucks is just too much, even with the seafood offerings. Two of us without drinks paid $95 total. There are other meals in BelAir I'd rather spend that kind of money on than a self serve hot pot. Fantastic food and super cool experience! We went for a date night and I love the AYCE aspect. You do have to pick either hot pot or bbq or both for the table- you cannot split and one person do bbq and the other so hot pot. We did bbq. Bulgogi is always the best and that applies here too. Definitely get it! The appetizer chicken and pickled veggies were slightly sweet and so yummy. I asked for more of those little chicken nuggets like three times, they're so good. Always get a veggie with your meet or else it will be meat overload! I recommend getting the pineapple worth your last order of food so it can be like a sweet little dessert. I wish they gave you some sauces or seasonings for the veggies though. That was one of the only downsides. Also, the lights were VERY fluorescent. But cool place and good food! 3.5 in my opinion, but twas only my second time doing Korean BBQ Met a friend for early dinner so for $30 we got the all you can eat and cook it yourself BBQ. I was advised it was "Korean bbq" but used a different sauce so maybe "chinese" bbq? (Drink not included) When I arrived the sauce and spice were already on the table, so not sure if I had an option of choosing my own sauce/spices like the first place I went to. But it sufficed so I didn't ask They brought tasty "chicken nuggets" and unremarkable kimchi (not bad/good: I vaguely remember it) to the table before the main meats/veggies Loads of meat options, I went with spicey beef, bulgogi, and beef ribs as my first round, with onion mushroom garlic pumpkin and lettuce to wrap. A small bowl of rice was also brought to the table Table for "four" I can't imagine 4 trying to sit and cook and eat simultaneously, but it was perfect for two. The waitstaff was attentive, removing dishes, changing out the cooking tray, and binging anything we asked/needed. The beef cooked nicely and didn't take long. Purportedly spicey, it was seasoned, but def not too spicey for my buds, even w the "spicey seasoning and sauce". The ribs had a sweet tinge The vegetables cooked ok, the pumpkin still had the rind, and cut in "quarters vs slices" took longer to cook than expected,,but once singed/blackened, we're good Chose chicken bulgogi for the second go round: thinly sliced, it too cooked quickly. Wrapping the items in large leaf lettuce is messy, but tasty. Eating fresh cooked veggies and meat, even with the white rice (brown is not an option) I left full, but not bloated nor miserable. We didn't leave anything on the table to be charged any "waste fee", and only opted for water. We were advised that dessert was part of the meal: small ice cream or sherbet options in a cooler and basic fruit on a buffet table- I got the lemon sherbet- basic Not sure why the soup option cost $7 more than the BBQ, but I might return in the future to find out. 4-5p on a Friday wasn't crowded at all..maybe 2 families and one couple. They have many options as far as seafood poultry beef and the list goes on with fresh vegetables to choose a sauce, bar and ice cream to top off the meal there's some thing for the whole family. For those who have never had hotpot before, this place is pretty good. No longer do I have to drive to Gaithersburg or Rockville (there's one in Towson but meh), the fact it's in my neck of the woods means I'll be coming regularly. Food: the place has all the typical hotpot ingredients AND some that are not typical which explains the higher price point: lobster, fresh seafood such as clams and oysters are not always on other hotpot places' menus. The biggest issue I have is the pickup location is too small - most hotpot places offer an iPad or wait staff to take your orders and deliver it to you. Not only do they not have to put things out and God knows where some people's hands have been, it reduces waste as you're ordering what you want to eat a plate at a time. My suggestion is to switch over to that model instead. Service: as good as it gets. Obviously I don't need instructions but it was nice to see the wait staff patiently go through the process with customers. Value: Rockville and Gaithersburg area hotpot are around $30-35 per person, so this place really isn't that expensive. Store: a bit too small for the crowd but maybe after the initial fad fades it'll be sufficient to keep the place busy but not bursting at the seams. read more

The ingredients for hot pot is a good variety/ very similar to what is offered at a hot pot restaurant in Chinatown, NYC (which is surprising in Harford County) Nice that there's a good variety of dessert (especially ice cream bars, ice cream sandwiches, and various flavors of cup ice creams) Service is great/staff is very attentive & friendly. Price for dinner is good / reasonable. Much more affordable than hot pot in NYC (where that price would be typical for lunch). This is hands down the BEST hot pot place I've been to (out of many, many places in Florida, Pennsylvania, AND Maryland). The inside is so cute and I love the chairs (plus-size friendly, even though they didn't look like it at first). The floors have koi fish pictured on them. The waitresses were super friendly and got us seated right away. I let them know that it was our first time at this hot pot location, though I should've clarified that it was not our first time at a hot pot location in general. Their AYCE hot pot runs around $40 per person and is half off for children under 12. There's an hour and a half limit for seating since it is an all you can eat restaurant. They have alcohol options, but we did not try any. There were multiple options for broth - I opted for spicy and my partner opted for the pork bone broth. My broth was flavored really well and not unbearably spicy like it is at other restaurants. My partner enjoyed the bone broth. The sauce bar was great and fully stocked. There is a house sauce that is premade if you're not adventurous or wanting to create your own. Our waitress brought over her three favorite sauces for us to try (a house sauce, a peanut sauce, and a chili oil sauce) and all three were wonderful. She also brought out kimchi (unlike any other I've ever seen, but we are not kimchi fans so we did not try it) and fried chicken morsels (AMAZING and I wish we asked for more - we usually do not like these when we tried them at hot pot king or other restaurants in the area). The selection of meats and veggies is AMAZING, but it is cramped into one tiny area so customers often overlap in the small space. The meats included head on and off shrimp, LOBSTER TAILS, SNOW CRAB, premium sliced beef (no extra charge), sliced pork/lamb/beef, lobster balls (would love to see fish balls), chicken, mussels, crawfish, and some unusual ones too (would love to see salmon added). They had my favorite enoki mushrooms and wide potato noodles, as well as udon/rice noodles and lots of veggies (would love to see spinach added). The meats were not frozen (aside from the crab legs) which is my gripe with other Baltimore-area hot pot places - usually the meats are frozen to the plates and are hard to cook. Not here. I was super impressed. This is the best snow crab we have had at a hot pot restaurant, which says a lot about the quality. There's a good dessert selection, including Hershey ice cream cups and ice cream bars and sandwiches. Our waitress kept our hot pot broth and drinks topped off at all times. Our dirty plates were constantly cleared off so we always had room for our food at the table. Our waitress brought over warm melted butter and crab crackers when they saw what seafood we had picked out. The service was seriously incredible. There are places in the middle of the table for BBQ, but it seems like they are not yet offering that. I hope to see it in the future, since we do like bulgogi when we do hot pot. My opinions are informed by previous experiences going to hotpot places; I typically like them. I put a "process" and "advice" section in this review at the bottom if you're kinda new to it. Everybody else can ignore that lol. FOOD The ingredients were decent. But one broth was bland (Thai Tom Yum). It wasn't just lacking spice but flavour altogether. My friends doctored it up by adding green onion, lemon, chili oil so as not to clash with the profile. However, if you can handle spicy -- the Szechuan broth was very good! I'll return to try the other styles though. I saw they have Japanese sake options - didn't try them though. **To the restaurant: Please flavour your Tom Yum more. Everything else was good! The broth can make or break the experience and I want you to succeed in Bel Air! Lol.** SERVICE: 10/10 We reserved beforehand but got there a little late. They seated us promptly, checked up on us, cleaned up quickly, asked us for refills, etc. They were friendly. AMBIANCE: Solid. Definitely feels like a hotpot place. Appropriate music too lol. One small confusing thing- the men and women's bathrooms are not together? **Restaurant might want to put a little sign to the women's. But it wasn't a big deal.** EXPENSE: 37.99/person. But It does become "all you can eat" if you can eat fast and get it in 90 min. I'm used to cheaper but it's Bel Air and hotpot is nonexistent here so it kinda made sense to me. -------------------------------------------- PROCESS for those new to hotpot: You get to choose a broth from several options. Then you go to the side and grab the ingredients you will dip / cook in your soup, as well as sauces. I posted some pics to help you see. They will put your broth in a pot at the table and start the burner for you to bring it to boil. But you can adjust the heat yourself at any time. They'll refill the broth but I personally think there are times where you just want a lower boil. SOME ADVICE: -As much as you are cooking ingredients flavoured with the broth, you are also flavouring your broth with stuff. If your broth is good it'll taste good regardless. But if you want to maximize that taste it's nice to think about. -Some things take longer to cook. Put your longer cook time ingredients in first. (Ex. Potato slices. Corn. Mushrooms. Dumplings.) Be careful when you take those out, to not immediately shove it into your mouth. (Ex. Eggs, dumplings, potatoes.) -Some things soak up flavour better. Thin beef slices and leafy veggies do this better than chicken; it's also faster to cook to safe-to-eat. I'm not a fan of chicken in hotpot because of these things. Almost feel like it's better if cooked/grilled and flavoured beforehand. -Enoki mushrooms work well in hotpot. -Get a side bowl if you want to cool your food before eating, rather than straight out of the pot. -At this restaurant, we grabbed the ladles with the holes and without them from the side bar. Useful to separate your food and broth or you might be fishing in there a bit. Ask for it if you don't see them ( rather than struggling and being sad like my dad ). read more

A solid 3.5 stars. The ambiance is nice and the food was easy to access since you can grab it yourself. They are also willing to bring it to you, but we opted for the grab it ourselves option. They had unique things like blood, tendon, tripe, lobster, oysters, etc... their sauce bar is okay, not as nice as the towson hot pot location but a decent selection. The fruit selection is pretty sad. Canned peaches and some banana syrup combo; they did have an ice cream selection. Service was good, mostly they came to pick up empty plates and refill the broth. The menu was extensive but how you grabbed your sauces, meat, veggies and noodles was extremely crowded and difficult to maneuver. This is very authentic hotpot. Soup base is good . I got the pork bone and husband got the mushroom with ginger. No msg in the soup. The ingredients are all fresh with crab legs, fish, frog legs, and all sorts of authentic Chinese hot pot ingredients. Vegetables were washed very clean. I'm pretty impressed all of this is offered in suburban Maryland. The restaurant is very clean, including bathrooms, and the service is good! They asked about food allergies before bringing us the sauces (there's a peanut sauce) and they cleared our dishes and brought over ware for soup. We never had to wait that long for service. I saw the waitresses sign happy birthday with a big light up happy birthday sign in English and Chinese. It was very cute. You pick your broth which is on a burner at the table, then you go pick a tray full of what ingredients you want, then boil them in your broth and eat them separately with dipping sauces or all together in a bowl. Pricier than usual hotpot or kbbq spots, but being the -only- one located in harford county, it is fairly priced. You would have to go to baltimore or ellicot for real hotpot/kbbq otherwise. This place has a smaller selection than other locations in regards to meats and veges, but their broths are excellent (porkbone or tom yum!). Sauce bar has recipes you can use as well. Service is outstanding here, servers are friendly and attentive, and will help you cook if you are new. I had both the hotpot and kbbq here; they are fairly priced for the location, but i think you should just stick with the hotpot as the kbbq isn't really authentic. Their "kimchi" is just pickled vegetables, galbi isn't marinated correctly, etc. Not to say its bad, its just done in chinese style instead of traditional korean. Place itself is clean and bright, and they have individual warmers so every person in your group can have their own soup. Go with all the spicy options here. I chose the herbal broth and had hoped to use chili oil to add spice to my food, but their chili oil was extremely weak. They do have sliced beef covered in chili flakes, which is excellent and not too hot, and of course their mala broth, also not overwhelming hot. For those complaining about the price, they need to understand that hot pot is typically in the $40/per person price range, so this place is right on target.
