Highlights: None. This was easily one of the worst restaurant experiences I have had in a long time. They were 30 minutes late on our 6:30 reservation... on NYE in Pittston, which made no sense. In other words, it wasn't very busy. My menu had a horrific smell, and the waitress tried to explain why (because they don't dry when they are wiped at the end of the day?). The drinks we ordered (while we waited for our table) FOREVER after we sat. Our waitress, who seems sweet, was possibly new and really didn't seem to know what she was doing. She served a beer with a cap on it, came back to clarify an order even though she wrote it down, and she missed one dish completely. Each dish came out one by one. Those of us that had been served food were basically finished when we finally asked them to pack the last two dishes to-go. The soft shell crab in my Spider roll was 100% fried earlier because the tempura was rubbery and gross. We were there until 8:15 when we asked for the check. I asked to speak to the "manager" because this was an absurd experience, and I flat out asked for her to comp somethign from our check - especially because two people never even got to eat their food fresh. Well, Dora, rather than just say "Sorry for the trouble," proceeded to explain what went wrong and tried to argue with me to avoid comping the check. Eventually, she took 10% off the bill and then came to the table to explain more about why... blah blah blah. Terrible experience. When I told some locals (family) what happened, they echoed the "food comes out one by one," experience we had and said it actually bothers them. Notes for the restaurant: If you need a table to leave, clear it and drop the check. If something goes wrong, just apologize and make it right, especially if it's your fault! You don't need to explain things because it doesn't make it better. Bring all the food to the table at one time so that everyone can eat together except for when people are sharing. Servers should read back the order after they take it so you don't make mistakes. Clean your menus and let them dry because the smell was disgusting. Dim your inside lights when it's dark out... the lights on the banquet where we sat were so bright it was painful. A sushi restaurant that only has 6 tables seated should never, ever, never run out of soy dishes; buy more. Lastly, you should have an option for a small bottle of sake (175mL or 300mL) besides Nigori (unfiltered, sweet); a Junmai option would have been nice. Most people aren't even familiar with Nigori sake and it doesn't make any sense that it would be your only small-bottle option. Best of luck to you guys. Ya need it. read more

We went to Fiji today for lunch and were completely satisfied with the service, atmosphere and the food. We ordered rolls and udon, both very good. One particular roll, peppered tuna, was especially amazing. The prices are on par with comparable area sushi restaurants and we'll definitely come here again. read more

Had take out sushi. Salmon, tuna, yellowtail and red snapper. Have to say it was rather good. Quality of the tuna was a little less than perfect but still good. However the red snapper and yellowtail were phenomenal! Will definitely return here and maube next time even eat in. Price was pretty fair as well. read more

Really enjoyed my dinner at Fuji a few weeks back. My group ordered Steamed Shrimp Shu Mai and Yellowtail Jalapeno as appetizers, both were really tasty and perfectly prepared. We ordered hibachi dinners, as well, and they stack up to any other place in the area. I'm glad there's a great Japanese place so close to home and will certainly be back! read more

We order here frequently from work. The 2 or 3 roll lunch special is a great deal. The delivery is fast and the sushi is amazing. The tuna tataki is also outstanding. Never ate at the location however always did take out. read more

Every time we come here, the servers make an effort to provide you with good service. This past visit, our server gave us wet naps before the service to cleanse our hands-- which is a new thing --but I thought it was nice. The veggie rolls are all delicious, and I sometimes order general tso tofu. It never disappoints. I've noticed some new renovations with a modern lounge area where you walk in. The food is pretty good, any meat or sushi dishes are good. The only thing I've yet to be impressed with is the fried rice, I've been to every habachi in wilkes-barre and the rice is always my favorite part. The fried rice here is almost flavorless. read more

Wonderful food. Friendly service. Nice atmosphere. The prices are very reasonable and the serving sizes are perfect. This restaurant is BYOB which we like because it is a lot cheaper to bring your own then it is to purchase off menu. The sushi I had was very good and the vegetable hibachi was delicious. I have been meaning to write a review on this restaurant for the past year. Had I written it before now I would have given it a 5 star review. I have visited Fuji's at least 7-9 times throughout the year & normally ordered Sushi which I always found to be fresh & tasty. On my latest visit I decided to order the Hibachi Chicken. I was really looking forward to the Miso soup which I've enjoyed here many times. The soup was served first. I took my first spoonful and almost spit it out. Then I thought I was mistaken and took another spoonful. It tasted like fish water. Yes, that's right, it tasted like fish. It was awful & I could not eat it. The salad was ok. Then came my Chicken Hibachi. I could not believe what I was seeing. As soon as the plate was put down in front of me I knew this chicken was not just made and had probably just come out of the freezer. But there it was, I was hungry and dug in. My suspicions were then confirmed- this chicken was pre-made and heated in a microwave. You know how when you reheat small pieces of chicken in the microwave they get rubbery & thick? Well this is exactly what I got, pre-made microwaved chicken. I'm just going to say it: it was not edible. Note to Fuji's: if you are going to have Hibachi items on your menu then make them fresh on a Hibachi or list them on your menu as " Pre-made microwaved fake Hibachi". I had high hopes for this place based on my sushi experiences. But my hopes for this place just took a nosedive. I hope they realize people in our area are pretty food savvy & can spot Pre--made microwaved food a mile away & therefore Fuji's needs to clean up their act. Also I'd love to have them explain to me why their miso soup tasted like fish. read more

So I was excited to see a sushi place near my house however after going here I can say it is not that great. Nothing to rave about and the first time I went there they forgot part of my lettuce wrap. The second time I went there the california roll was not fresh and wasnt enough rice on the roll. I would much rather drive to wilkes-barre to eat at Mizu. read more

I was so impressed with Fuji! I went here for dinner on Saturday night when I was visiting from New York City. The sushi was fresh and delicious, and the menu had lots of different apps and rolls to try. My mom doesn't like sushi but they had a full hibachi menu for her, and she loved her dinner too. The service was quick and friendly, and prices were very inexpensive for sushi. But plan ahead: it's BYOB. I couldn't believe I found sushi this good outside of NYC! I highly recommend it. read more

This place is a delight - in terms of the ambience, service and flavors. The chicken teriyaki was absolutely delicious (the chef added a touch of black pepper to the teriyaki to give it a unique flavor). My wife had one of the healthy vegetarian dishes (something like Vegetarian delight) that turned out to be decent but not great. We had the fruit ninja for dessert - on the owners recommendation - and it was worth it (Basically, it's fruits and some cheesecake wrapped in fried marshmallow). The prices were reasonable too. Tonight was our first time at Fuji in Pittston. We rate it as overall very good and worth a return visit. The atmosphere was sweet and Dora, our server, was very friendly, asking us about our tastes and offering helpful suggestions. Having read other Yelp reviews, we knew to bring our own bottle. We enjoyed the edamame and the seaweed salad. The kani salad was nice, with just the right amount of spice - though it had tempura mixed in which gave it a bit of a soggy texture. An easy fix would be to use tempura only as a garnish added on top just before serving. The tuna and avacado roll, the rainbow roll and the peppered tuna roll were all very good. The dragon roll was cucumber-heavy with not enough eel to give it much flavor. Again, an easy fix. The highlight was the Fruit Ninja that Dora suggested for dessert - which their chef created and is unique to Fuji. It was out of this world goodness and a fun ending to a nice night out. read more
