Came here before visit the Christmas lights at Dyker Heights, and we thought the sushi was really good and well priced! Two friends split the Lovers boat for 2 and it seemed like a lot of sashimi and sushi. I had some of the Summer roll and Spicy Volcano roll and thought they were both really good as well. I don't care what anyone says about this place, but just come here on a Friday evening or Saturday - the hoards of people waiting for take-out says something alone about the quality you're getting here. Yes, this place doesn't have the OMG amazing decor that most sushi places have; it is just very average, and simple, but that's just because they put all their fancy skills into plate prepping your sushi! Just sit at the sushi bar while you're waiting for your take-out for 40 minutes. These guys are so artful in their craft that it is truly memorizing. You'll not wait for these food in vain. TIP: If you order take-out, you will see significantly cheaper pricing in comparison to if you dined in. This is something we noticed several months ago, and as newly weds, you need to save every dime! I eat out and I eat a lot a lot of sushi. I have eaten here several times. The last time I ate here was august of 2017, that resulting in me being hospitalized for bad seafood, that was the only thing I ate that day, so I am 200% sure its from here. So we have been looking for a good sushi in the area for a while, and after trying some other establishments, we ultimately ordered some sushi from this place. We were very pleasantly surprised. We found the sushi to be fresh and flavorful. We tend to get rolls and apps. The apps are uniformly very good whether it be pork gyoza, shrimp shumai, or edamame. Their miso soup is basic, but good. The only complaints that I have about the rolls is that I think they could have stronger flavors in their spicy offerings and they could more consistently shave the peel off the cucumber in their Naruto Rolls as these are sometimes delivered with slight slivers of peel on the edges of the cucumber. In sum, not quite as good as super high-end sushi that you may find an Brooklyn Heights and Manhattan, but in our opinion, better than most of the other places in the area. If you are looking for adventurous, or unique rolls, this may not be the place for you as their menu sticks to more traditional offerings. We have tried both in-person dining and take out, and find the in-person food to be a drop better (or fresher seeming?). For those who want to sit down the restaurant itself is okay looking, but not super elegant or modern. Overall, a good sushi choice for the price point in this area and worth a try. read more

Seems like they've changed their name to Natto Sushi when I arrived. The sushi here was pretty decent. I was surprised at how cheap the rolls came out to be. They crossed out their old menu prices and replaced hand rolls to be $2.75 and sashimi/nigiri to be $1.25 (1 piece/order). My boyfriend and I stuck to the basics of salmon avocado rolls, eel rolls, and tuna rolls. I ordered the salmon sashimi too. Definitely not the best quality sushi, but the affordable pricing and freshness of everything was fine for an average dinner. The restaurant itself was clean and had a lot of open seating when we arrived on a Friday night. They have a hibachi option too -- the table and grill was located front and center of the restaurant. I used to love the sushi, I've recommended to friends, but a recent trip during the summer caused my raving go downhill. So not to offend anyone, but I like to take apart my sushi before I eat it. I usually take off the fish and roll it with my chopsticks; I do that with rolls too where I munch up the fish first and then enjoy the seasoned rice. The waiters and waitresses are very friendly I'd hate to lower the stars. I dont want to give this a low rating, but it couldnt be helped. So I ordered a platter of sushi with a friend I was supposedly sharing with. Unfortunately, when it arrived there were a few flies fluttering around a few certain pieces. I waved off those pesky flies then proceeded to continue with my sushi. So with my chopsticks which I found the quality to be decent, I picked off a salmon slice and curled it around my chopstick and I saw a tiny black speck in my rice. It was a dead fly. Disgusted I looked over across to my friend who was devouring pieces before me. He gave me a face like, "What's wrong, not sushi craving?" I wanted to say DUDE PICK UP AND EXAMINE WHAT YOURE EATING. IT MIGHT SAVE YOU. However he saw a fly that nested itself on a tuna sushi and rubbed its legs and arms on that piece . My friend seemingly grossed me out as he ate thepiece as well as the fly. Then it was then I just wanted to get out as quickly as possible. I'd like to say this place is great but as a huge scaredy-cat of bugs especially gnats and flies, I am appalled. read more

When my boyfriend and I go, we usually get a specialty roll, too. They have weird names, so I don't remember what they were but one had a lot of crab and it's our favorite. I live two blocks away from this restaurant. I see it all the time, but never try it. One day, my bf and I was super hungry and didn't want chinese food or burger king, so I suggested this place. When we went in, it was really quiet.. no one was inside. We went around 4pm.. too early for dinner yolks I guess. We were greeted and seated. While looking at the menu, we were surprised that no one bring us water or tea. We were going to go for the all you can eat sushi, but then we were only limited to certain rolls and items, didn't seem worth the price. So we ordered from the menu, the waitress was friendly, we got spider roll, dragon roll, and snow white roll. I ordered a spicy tuna salad and my bf added a chicken teriyaki bento box. After we placed our order, the waitress brought us our tea and soon, came the soup and my salad. The spicy tuna was great, taste fresh, and good favor. But after that we waited for 25mins before our other food, which was a little long, since no one was there except us. I guess it was worth the wait, the rolls came and it looked delicious... and when i taste it, it was excellent.. then the bento box came, and I always find bento box very disappointing, and it was. There wasn't much chicken and it didn't look so good. But I will return to this place, and just order rolls from them and maybe try noodle dishes next time. They still have the "all you can eat" option on ther take-out menu but i don't think they offer it anymore. I'm a big fan of their spicy tuna because it's actually spicy and they don't use the crunch crap as filler or to shield the bland taste. Not too many seats inside, it's a pretty small space that they dress up with vines on the ceiling. Not sure why they have a huge multi-surveillance security camera inside but it's an eye sore. Overall a good place, prices are average but they just write over the old prices so make sure you are looking at the correct current price. The woman who picks up isn't really that friendly but the guy who picks up is really nice. The delivery time is 45min to an hour. The sushi and sashimi there is really good. I usually get the party tray, half sashimi/ half sushi and then it comes with 2/3/4 rolls depending on which party tray you get. The gyoza from there is delicious. A solid Japanese place that is cheap yet tasty. Bf and i always go to Fujiyama when we feel like having sushi without splurging too much. Their basic rolls are affordable starting from $2ish. They also have specialty rolls that are quite a bang in your buck -- their dragon roll was great tho tend to be on the smaller size. Service was okay although the last time we went it was a letdown because took nearly 20 mins for the soup and salads. Entrees also took another 20 more mins although we only ordered basic bento box and regular sushi rolls. It could be because they were overwhelmed with the delivery and take out orders. The place itself is small and only have few tables but relatively clean. This is not the best Japanese in NYC but definitely the best for Dyker Heights area. read more

Fujiyama might be the only Japanese restaurant in the area. It happened to be a really chilly day and I need some really warm food. Beef udon, Chicken Teriyaki with white rice, and miso soup warmed me up in this cold weather. The chicken were kind of tough and they get between your teeth. The beef were great. The soups and broth were amazing. I'm a sashimi lover, but I hesitate on ordering any sashimi because I'm not sure if they are fresh. I asked the waitress when did the fish come in and she couldn't answer me. She says they keep it in the freezer. The thing is I like to eat raw fish raw to enjoy the pure taste of the fish without using any condiments. So if it isn't fresh, it will taste very bad and knowing Chinese people, they won't give you a refund. Also, it's in a very quiet neighborhood and the restaurant was very quiet the whole time we were there so we just didn't trust the sashimi. But this is just hypothetical, who knows, they could be okay. read more

This place is one of the precious few restaurants in this neighborhood - and one of a small handful that have the option to sit down in addition to takeout. My husband and I decided to give Fujiyama a try for the first time after walking by every Friday night for the last 3.5 years on our way to Krispy Pizza (which is amazing and the best pizza in the neighborhood) for our weekly pizza date. It's pretty small - just a few booths and some small tables. There appeared to be a slightly larger private seating area to the left that wasn't being utilized. First, the pros: our food was decent. We didn't order anything that was raw, but the peanut / avocado roll and the California roll I had were pretty good. My husband had a basic beef and mushroom dish and the "Bagel" roll which were both just ok. Nothing wrong with either, he just wasn't sure what to order. Our server was pleasant. The prices were hard to beat and we will for sure takeout from here and maybe even stop in to sit down, now that we know what to expect. Last, the peanut / avocado roll I wanted wasn't on the menu and the chef was happy to prepare it for me by request. The menu indicates they will do the same for any other items that aren't mentioned. The cons, which are really meant to be polite suggestions, because this type place really is a rarity in our sleepy corner of Brooklyn: 1. The utility bucket near the inside entrance gave an instance sense of griminess. It's nice to offer a place for patrons to put their wet umbrellas, but there's got to be a better way. 2. The handwritten "Specials" menu is impossible to read. It looks very tattered. Maybe print it on basic printer paper and insert it into the menu. Or invest in a chalkboard. Same goes for the "Restroom" sign. The handwritten paper signs aren't doing you any good. 3. From where I was sitting, I was able to see the inside of one of the larger, more private seating areas on the left side of the restaurant. It was pretty messy. Maybe just close it the door to it? 4. The glasses we received weren't downright dirty but they did seem less than fresh. And the water was lukewarm. Again, from where I was sitting, I could see the orange Gatorade style jug it was being served from. It just didn't sit so well with me. Maybe add a curtain so people can't see that area next to the kitchen? 5. The faux grapes and squashes hanging from the ceiling belong in a basic Italian American place - not a sushi restaurant! Taking those down would be a major improvement. 6. On a pretty busy Saturday night, there should be more than one server! We are pretty forgiving and get that food service is a rough gig, but it was noticeable that the server was totally on her own for everything. She was very pleasant by the way. 7. The little plastic signs on each table are dingy. Ours was taped together. You don't need them. Overall, we are so happy to have tried this place and will continue to give them our business! read more

Both delivery and pick up services are done quick and easy. The young boss man is always well-mannered and most of the time the ladies are also. It only happened one time when I walked in and they hadn't done my order yet.. I will say that I only called about 10 minutes before though so maybe (probably) it's my fault! lol. Whenever my girlfriend and I crave sushi, roughly once a week, we always order from here. Since this sushi spot is only 2 blocks away I always take the short walk with ease. We always order the dinner combos. A Boston roll, California roll and Philadelphia roll for under $11. It also comes with a choice of a soup or salad and I always choose the salad because of the ginger dressing. After we each get our own combo and choose from the diverse list of specialty rolls the total is always roughly around $30.
