This part of Brooklyn is such an anomaly to me even though my parents have lived here for over half my life. A restaurant that's been around for 14 years and as an aggregate 4+ star rating has fewer than 200 Yelp reviews? So weird. Anyway, grabbed a menu from here when passing by and then a few days later, my parents really wanted Japanese, so we placed an order. Let me say first and foremost - the portion sizes here are gigantic! The bento box says it comes with shrimp/vegetable tempura, but I didn't expect a full size box of it! The yellowtail collar was also a surprisingly large portion, especially for $11. Myself, I got some sushi - the tuna/yellowtail combo, and the Tootsy roll (king crab, avocado, topped with crunchy yellowtail). The sushi quality is fine, but nothing extraordinary. There is hand sanitizer available on the table when you pick up your order. Lunch Special (Order 3 Rolls): - California Roll - there is fake crab meat in this roll but nonetheless a staple roll - Salmon Avocado Roll - love this. one of my go to rolls - Spicy Crunch Salmon Roll - This was alright as the roll was kind of small here. I definitely prefer the salmon avocado roll more. - Salad (I love the dressing they use on the salad here) Other Rolls: - Eel Avocado Roll - Another one of my go to rolls. Used to be my go to place but a bit disappointed in its quality of food. Perhaps it was sitting in the take out container for too long but the shrimp terriyaki was over cooked and skimp on the shrimp. The sushi was thinly cut and the fish did not taste fresh. Always a comfortable time eating here and the ambiance is really calming. I also order takeout a lot and I never have to wait too long. Now for the food, I have literally never been disappointed. The Okinawa appetizer is a must-try and I love the Yummy Roll. Of course, everything from spicy salmon roll to shrimp tempura roll is amazing as well. The sashimi and sushi fish are ALWAYS on point. The chef's special sauce is addicting too. Heck, even the side order yakisoba is surprisingly delectable. I could eat from here everyday if I could! If you see the pictures I attached, the seating of this restaurant, the view, and the how amazing the place is, astonished me. This place went above and beyond in regards to looks and prettiness. 2) The miso soup is very unique from the other 99% of sushi places in Brooklyn, NY. If you see the picture I attached, the miso soup looks different, and it was a lot tastier than other sushi places in Brooklyn! It was a lot more savory. 3) The sushi is fresh, hands down. Simply one of the best Japanese restaurants I have been to! This is truly a hidden gem in Brooklyn. They have many lovely apps and entrees to choose from. I have tried almost every appetizer on the menu and they never disappoint. I highly recommend the ginger squid, its slightly crunchy on the ends but very chewy and tasty inside. Walked in on a Saturday evening after grocery shopping because I was craving sushi and Samurai was highly rated in the area. I am happy to say that my fellow Yelpers did not fail me. Although the name of Samurai Fusion suggests a degree of culinary melangé, this sushi restaurant is pretty Japanese (or more accurately, Japanese-American). The service was excellent as the waitress happily gave her recommendations and attentively switched our plates for us between appetizers/entrées. The complimentary sanitizing towels and freshly steamed edamame (so warm and comforting) added a nice touch to our dinner experience. The sashimi was cut generously and the rolls were prepared with a lot of attention to detail. My only (minor) complaint is that the staff takes their attention to detail a little too overzealously. The presentation of the plates, while immaculate and precise, included a fake flower bouquet. Maybe it's because I'm a huge fan of Food Network, but I prefer not to be served with something inedible on my plate.
