To preface this review, let me just say that my wife and I are not picture people! We're the people who stand in the back of a group photo and put the "peace" sign up. We found David after he did our friend's wedding about a year before our wedding. My wife was a bridesmaid at that wedding and remembered how at ease he made everyone in the wedding party feel. We corresponded with David through email and after working out a few details of our package, we hired him to do our engagement session and wedding. Our engagement session took place at two locations on a crazy humid Los Angeles day. We were able to photograph at our favorite restaurant Bavel and we moved over to The Row for our second location. At each location, we gave David a few minutes to scout each place and his eye for the perfect picture was amazing. About two weeks after the shoot, we asked David for a few shots so that we could use them on our invitations. We knew that we were asking for a pretty quick turnaround but David was able to oblige. The engagement photos turned out great! We got married in Rancho Palos Verdes and David knew exactly where he wanted to take us before the wedding. He chauffeured us around the sleepy beach town to different locations and after seeing the shots, we were happy that he did. At our wedding we had one request, we really wanted to emphasize photos of our family since my mom would get mad if we didn't have them. David was happy to oblige and not only did he get individual portraits of everyone, but we also have some spectacular group shots. Overall, David made the whole process was pretty easy. While David, my wife, and I know how hard and awkward it was getting us into the perfect poses, none of that awkwardness can be seen in the pictures. We then used them for our engagement session, then wedding, and also for our daughters newborn pictures. Full Spectrum Photography represented a power injection of wedding chill. In a day that was hectic with the competing stressors of friends, family, intermittent nausea, and last-minute wedding details, David and the Full Spectrum team were consistently positive, and smoothly handled transitions from one part of the day to the next. The shooters certainly looked the part, with David wowing the single ladies with his hipster cut and plaid shirt, and second shooter Jayrol looking smart in black. Couple and group shots rolled by efficiently, and extensive pre-wedding planning allowed us to return to our reception with time to spare. Certainly appreciated that poses felt natural, which allowed us to feel relaxed through the entire evening - definitely didn't feel photoed out. Ultimately, the beautiful wedding photos and album served as proof of their artistic eye, as even the customary table shots with grinning guests interrupted from their dinners turned out nice enough to print as gifts. Full Spectrum worked well with the venue as well as our DJ, which allowed a professional and seamless documentation of events; this is in contrast with our separately contracted bargain videographer who in comparison seemed a step behind and often felt intrusive on our ability to enjoy events as they came. Guess you get what you pay for. We originally picked Full Spectrum via their web portfolio, which featured clean photos with vivid and dynamic colors (as opposed to a washed out "vintage" aesthetic that we didn't like, but not quite Bollywood in saturation), as well as a minimum of photographic games that we knew we didn't want (including excessive lens effects and intrusive foreground elements). Should have known we'd made a good choice from the beginning when David and Christina went out of their way to schedule Skype calls with us on East Coast time and were willing to substitute an attended photo booth for the advertised engagement shoot (we'd never be able to make it to California to do it). Ultimately, full-quality digital images were available a month after the wedding, and Christina shipped our handsome (and quite heavy) album in two. If it matters to you, both photographers shot Canon programs, David on a 5Dmk4, and Jayrol with a 5Dmk3. Both tended to shoot large aperture shots with creamy depths-of-field in our posed and live photos. Incidentally, going with Full Spectrum's photobooth (as opposed to a DJ's) was a great call, as the "booth" actually represented a mini-studio shooting a laptop-automated Canon 7D, which allowed high-quality, non-trivial photos that we actually included in our wedding album. read more

Dave and Christina are awesome and they do beautiful work! They took care of the photography for our son's first birthday party as well as his cake smash photos (in-studio). They really took care of everything for us, including getting cake and balloons for the cake smash. They offered a lot of choices for colors and cake styles. The photos are clean, bright and crisp. What's nice is that they also take a ton of photos which means you get more to choose from for your prints and your albums! We weren't expecting much from our birthday party photos but the quality just blew us away. Despite being just a birthday (vs a wedding), the quality was as good as their wedding photography. The customer service they provide is also top-notch, especially for photographers and any other vendor that usually don't keep the usual business hours. I think Christina responded back to my emails within 24 hours, and often within the same business day. Their invoicing system was also super easy. I hate having to hunt down a check and remembering to mail it out so it's nice that all of their billing was available online. I would definitely hire them again and I would recommend them to anyone looking for an event or portrait photographer in OC. read more

Out of all the vendors for our wedding, the photographer was hands down the most important one for me. I love photography and there's nothing better than great photos to capture the best memories!! Not only did we want an amazing photographer but we also wanted someone that we connected with and would take the time to get to know us. After all, other than your husband/bridal party, they're the ones you'll spend the most time with on your wedding day and leading up to the day. David and Christina are such an amazing duo! We booked them and never looked back - we've yet to be disappointed at all with their timeliness, level of professionalism and attention to detail. Christina will literally email me back minutes within asking her questions and we've become friends with David since our engagement session. Going into the engagement session can be a little awkward as you don't know what to expect but he made us feel so comfortable and even stayed out with us extra HOURS to capture the magic hour lighting just perfectly. For the day of, they were such an integral part- from establishing the timeline to helping fix my dress/veil and they take a ton of pride in their work. Despite David & Eli shooting all around the venue, you really didn't even notice them- yet somehow they were able to get the most amazing reactions and moments from the day. On top of the amazing experience before and during our wedding, the experience after has been just as great. About a month after the wedding, our pics were ready! We seriously couldn't believe how quickly they went through the 1000's of photos. We've already finished designing our albums. Having gone to over a half a dozen wedding expos we had the pleasure of meeting David and Christina over at Full Spectrum Photography. All three photographers were kind, patient, and had creative ideas for different shots. My husband and I both felt very comfortable with them and I believe it shows in the pictures. Side note, if you're a bride to be debating whether or not to do an engagement session - DO IT! Practicing being in front of the camera before the wedding day is the best thing you can do. From the moment my husband and I emailed Christina and David, we knew it was the right choice. They were so responsive and willing to answer all questions. My wife and I hired these guys for our wedding and it was easily one of the best decisions we've made during this entire process. I can quite honestly say that I cannot say enough positive things about David and Christina, as well as the entire staff at Full Spectrum Photography. Let's start with the initial meeting: About 8 months before our wedding, my wife and I walked into Full Spectrum Photography and talked with David and Christina. They were incredibly professional and immensely helpful as they walked us through various package options. Not only that, they even helped us sort of plan our wedding day by suggesting several options that we hadn't even thought of. While being professional and helpful, it was also very obvious how passionate these guys were about their job and they helped us really feel at ease about the whole process. One of the most memorable things about this first meeting came up when I asked about engagement photos. I wasn't super excited about the idea of an additional photo session, but many photographers had told us that they would recommend it because it would help build a connection between us and the photographers that would make the wedding day go much more smoothly. When I asked David and Christina the same question, they told us that we should only do this if we wanted the extra pictures. If not, it wasn't worth the money we'd be spending. This type of honesty made my wife and I feel really good coming out of our meeting and we decided shortly thereafter to go with Full Spectrum Photography for our wedding. Over the next few months, there honestly wasn't a ton of communication between us and them, but whenever we needed questions answered, Christina would e-mail back the next day. This made planning everything so much easier because they were so on top of things. As we got closer to the wedding, Christina also sent us an online form with a few questions about the day off logistics. It was fairly short and straight forward, and again, it made us feel very at ease about the whole prospect knowing that they were preparing for all of these situations. Finally, the big day came. David and Mike (the other photographer) each took one side of the bridal party and essentially spent the entire day with us. I am still amazed at how easy they made the entire process. My wife and I really didn't think getting pictures taken for the entire day would be a fun experience, but these guys made it extremely enjoyable. Not only did they get all the pictures that we wanted into a very tight time frame, they also made sure we got pictures with all of our guests while we were there. We also asked Full Spectrum to run our photobooth and it was a huge hit among the guests. From the get go from our first meeting, Christina and David were so friendly and easy to work with. Christina is very quick with her email responses, which is so awesome for any stressed out bride/groom who wants answers asap. She is such a sweetheart and taking the time to answer all of the questions we had. David and Jackie were our photographers that day and they were so nice and made us feel very comfortable. It's not everyday you have a bunch of people taking photos of you all day and my wife and I were definitely afraid we would look super awkward since we opted not to do an engagement session due to our budget. I kept on getting compliments from friends and family saying how nice our photographers were. We also rented the photobooth from them which was a big hit with all our guests. We used Full Spectrum to photograph our March wedding (as well as engagement photos) and could not have been happier with how everything turned out! The photos were even better then I could have imagined. Hiring a good photographer was something that was extremely important to my husband and I, and I can honestly say that I don't think we could have gone with anyone better then Full Spectrum!
