I haven't been here in a while, so I thought I would pop over since I was right around the corner. I have been here several times prior since I live in the neighborhood, and had always been please with the food. I ordered the general sales tofu and the vegetable lo mein. The ordering process was super fast. I probably waited about 20 or so minutes, but I had an errand to run so by the time I got back, it was only about five minutes left to wait. The space itself is a bit awkward to wait in, so I would recommend ordering and then going to run an errand and coming back. I love my general tofu. The taste was on point. The tofu texture was great. The vegetable lo mein was also great. I really liked the noodles. The vegetables were cooked great as well and I appreciate that they were cut into smaller pieces and weren't massive hunks in the midst of the lo mein noodles. Overall, this is a really good grab and go spot as there is nowhere to sit and eat your food. The store is setup so that it is solely a lobby to wait for your food to prepared. read more

For a carry-out, they have a pretty robust menu that I haven't seen other carry-outs within the vicinity. They are located in an area where carry-outs are not unknown, but it is very clean and legible when it comes to their menu. Parts of their carry-out experience are high-low, so you'll read a lot of mixed reviews on Yelp, so let this be an objective point of reference. Its maintained this neighborhood historic quality, being that the entire place is lined in granite. It has those nostalgic faded picture menus and the history of crossed out prices and new things they have added without redesigning the entire menu. It is next to a smoke shop, so you will see loiterers, but they respect the business, so keep your head down and just walk past them. I would recommend that the best part of their menu is possibly the cheesecake. I have never seen this on a carry-out menu. I was so inclined to try it from the dedicated custom glowing neon on the side of their building. I'm hoping that someone at Full Yum is just very passionate about cheesecake because it doesn't fit into anything on the menu. There are many combo/promotions that prompt you to order the cheesecake. They offer two variations: a classic cheesecake and layered crepe. It comes in so many flavors, we got the blueberry and it was rich, creamy (not icy), and the perfect light ending to our meal. This carry-out produced such an impressively uncharacteristic cheesecake, I would describe the eating experience similar to Rihanna's lyrics "We found love in a hopeless place..." Another good thing on their menu is their wings, since they are coming from a pretty general Chinese carry-out menu, things that are made to order probably serve as the highlight of their offerings and this is exemplary of that. Wings came crisply battered and a generous portion of fries. Of course, their main offering is classic carry-out style Chinese-American food, I'm definitely noticing that they tailored their food regionally for DC eaters. I'm not seeing a lot of vegtables aside from bean sprouts, onion, and broccoli (of course, only when ordered). It will hit all of those notes of crispy, greasy, salty, but in the good way that Chinese carry out is suppose to. We tried a large range of their menu, but at some point, it felt like the breaded items, noodles, and rice were a vehicle for the same combination of seasonings, and it was on the oily side. Flavors are not bad, but they are also not notable or distinctive. Yet, it is still one of the few places that have maintained a reasonable price point for their food. The food is made to order, but depending on when you catch them we got a pretty stale portion of rice. I see a lot of people come in throughout the day and night so I think they're moreso feeding the community in the area. It will be a good, quick, and affordable fix. read more

This place may have the best crab Rangoon that I have had so far. It may be a fight between them and China cafe. Everything else was OK. I did not enjoy the beef in the beef and broccoli. The sauce had a slight weird aftertaste. The broccoli was good, but the beef just didn't taste right. The chicken was well fried, but it tasted like they seasoned the coating not the inside. Love their Mei Fun Singapore. That is what I usually get. My husband and a friend their like Shrimp Egg Foo Young. Portions are good, I can usually make two meals from one order. When I get a large order of stir-fried veggies & rice, I can make four good-sized meals. I also like their hot and sour soup It's a carryout...so zero ambience. Lots of loiterers on that corner also. This was near FedEx while I was waiting for a package and thought I would give it a try. Ordered the sesame chicken dinner which comes with chicken, rice, and an egg roll. The lady taking my order was super cool, but when she told the cook my order, she rolled her eyes and seemed annoyed. I laughed it off, wasn't a big deal, it was a typical order. Seemed like promising, hot food. But when I took a bite of chicken later, embedded inside was a nice strand of hair. Also wasn't impressed with the portion size or quality of the meat and rice. Who knows where the ingredients come from...I've never seen a delivery truck to a carryout, but if you're eating out of a place like this then health isn't exactly your concern. The place is clean (at least on our side of the glass) for the most part. The wings and mumbo sauce are great. Hell's yeah! Anytime a place like this can score two stars, they're doing something right. In this case, it's the wings. I got them twice when I needed to feed my habit. Understand this: Full Yum's wings are (no joke!) really good. They start with big plump pieces of chicken - not the janky little scraps you get from the chain pizza places - fry them crispy, and then douse them in what tastes to me like sweet chili sauce mixed with Tabasco. It works well and is totally unique; the wings are honey-sweet but with a kick that gives you a good head sweat by the end of ten wings. You should get your own blue cheese though because what they give you is tasteless and runny. Total out the door price for ten good-size buffalo wings was $5.80. Everything else at this place looks pretty terrible, but I'll never know because all I'll ever order is the wings. If you do visit the restaurant, take a minute to savor the ambience: tour the lobby and check out the classy advertising signs for onion rings, mozzarella sticks, and something called potato loops. Also, there's a good chance you'll get to watch a customer yelling at the proprietor as they attempt to navigate the linguistic divide. read more

I work in NE DC. I live here too. Right around the corner from Full Yum in fact. The sad status of food for people in my neighborhood cannot be exaggerated. You've got McDonald's, pizza, and something-sort-of-Chinese-ish carry-out. When you stand in the lobby of any of these establishments, you start to understand why no one else wants to open a restaurant up here; my neighbors can be a bit of a handful. That said, why does Full Yum get so many stars when the food is basically Chinese? First off, their food is consistent. It's never "ick" and after seeing someone at work order just about everything on the Chinese menu, nothing's ever looked bad. Secondly, they're all-business, never mess up my order, and go above and beyond to work with regular customers. That's appreciated in every environment, but especially so in one where customers can be difficult to deal with. So if you need carry out in Eckington, go Full Yum. read more

This typical hard working bulletproof glass Chinese carryout is in a neighborhood full of shitheads who don't appreciate the value of a dedicated honest business. I have been there twice now and both times got high quality, albeit completely Americanized lo mein and kung pao. You can also get burgers and wings at this place. What is shocking is the clientele who, on both occasions were loud, rude, and obnoxious to the staff. How they put up with these people is beyond me. I like to support local businesses and will go back there, but I am not looking forward to having to put up with the lowlifes that tend to hang around the place. I eat here probably once (sometimes twice) a week. Their food is always wonderful and the service is very quick. The staff is always very friendly and often practices Mandarin with me. Literally everything I've had on their menu has been wonderful. From the fried rice to the lo mein, the sweet and sour chicken (which is never greasy or soggy like some places) to the rib tips and wings they are doing something very right. I've order their wing special which is a wonderful deal but they have multiple daily special. They will even specialize orders to make it spicy for you or less spicy. I've called not knowing exactly what I wanted and they offered suggestions based of what I have a taste for. I highly recommend this place to anyone if craving Chinese food and wanting to eat at home. Make sure to call ahead. read more

For those nights when cooking is not on the agenda and something unhealthy, quick and cheap is, go for Full Yum. Its a couple blocks from my apartment, so its the go to spot. I've eaten food from Full Yum at least 8 times in the last 6 months. It is reasonably priced, consistently fresh and good and never greasy even the sweet & sour chicken. The orders are accurate and have never been disappointed. They are generally quick (about 10 minutes). read more
