Do NOT go to Richard at Achor Counseling. Me and my boyfriend went to the Achor Counseling Center…read morein East providence. We had the owner and social worker Richard Figueira as our counselor for 3 sessions. He NEVER showed up for our 4th session at 10am. We waited almost a half an hour then left him a note and left. I expected at least a phone call with an apology and an attempt to reschedule. NOTHING! I even called the office about 1-2 weeks later and spoke with someone who answered and explained what happened. She apologized but we still never heard form our therapist Richard Figueira. How thoughtless and unprofessional. At first I thought his blunt straightforward style would be helpful for couples to get to the heart of the matter quickly and effectively. Instead, he was just plain negative and rude stating "You two have lots of problems that I do not know if they can be fixed." I think it's more that he is incapable of fixing anyones problems as he obviosly has too many of his own.

I've built up a great relationship with my councilor, which is why this review gets 2 stars instead…read moreof 1, but it didn't really help me too much and was hardly professional. She would use the phone during our sessions, would barely talk, and even misgendered me multiple times for months after I came out to her as trans (I had to aggressively ask her to stop, and I will say she made an effort but it wasn't too effective). I basically fidgeted with toys and talked to myself for 3 years. Never was really offered many coping skills, tips, etc. save for a few pieces of paper with activities that were clearly not aimed at my age group (saw her from about 15y-18y) mostly just had someone to talk to. She was frequently late, and quite a few time was not even there for an appointment (many times she was sick or had very good reason not to be, but no one contacted me and I ended up waiting for an hour or more) no secretary or person to ask questions in the waiting room, just a tiny window to the main office that usually has its blinds pulled. Good luck getting any help with scheduling or payment there. I went to their resident psychologist (no longer available I guess, thank heavens!!) to get prescribed medication. They did not take insurance and I spent ~2000 dollars to get laughed at and handed a piece of paper with "prozac" scribbled on it. I'm not kidding. This Dr. did not give a shit about me. She actually laughed when I told her about my past problems with drugs, suicide, self-harm and abuse, and then didn't even discuss treatments with me. Honestly, if you're looking for someone to talk to, be my guest. I only went here because they were one of the few places that accepts neighborhood, but there are many places out there that are probably more than worth the price.

I was a patient of hers for a short time. I gave this lady 3 chances of pulling her professionalism…read moreout of the gutter. The first chance was when I scheduled the appointment, I asked if I'd get a reminder (was told yes) because I was driving and didn't know the address. A week later, the day before my apt. I called multiple times to see about my reminder and the address. No call back. So I went to the office the following day to find A COMPLETELY EMPTY OFFICE WITH A FOR RENT SIGN. Naturally I missed my appointment due to the lack of communication on their part. A day later they called me claiming "oh we moved in August" mind you it was January... I explained to her that even though she deals with mainly drug addicts, I am just here for my anxiety meds. She did not treat me with an ounce of respect and just continued to talk over me and berate me. I gave her another chance, I made another follow up appointment... only for her to COMPLETELY MISS IT and call me 3 days later expecting me to drop what I was doing and have the apt then. Again I was met with being talked over and was told that I need to be available whenever she wants to have the apt. NOT when the actual apt is scheduled for. Well, as you can see, I own a business and FOLLOW A RIDGID SCHEDULE and can't jump when she feels it fit. Yet again her condescending manner was obnoxious for a mental health "professional." Next apt went ok. I asked to have my anxiety meds filled, she wanted a urine test, i told her I would come the following Tuesday am. I showed up for my apt- only to be told no one knew I was coming. I waited a week after I took the test- no response. I called the following Tuesday on my way into work to see why there isn't any communication- only for her to call me absolutely irate that I left a message at 5:30am on the work voicemail. I couldn't get a word in edgewise as she continued to talk over me. Not to mention she called 15 minutes after I told her assistant I was available. Yet again she got mad because I was holding her accountable for her actions and disrespect towards my time and HER set schedule. Do your research with this one- there's a reason why she's been in trouble with the state. But she will just brush off a negative review with the excuse "oh it's mental health, everyone hates you." Well... if that isn't the most concerning statement I've ever heard from a MENTAL HEALTH PROVIDER idk what is. Waste of time. Condescending. Doesn't care about supporting you, just wants to cut you down because she's on a MAJOR power trip.

I made an appointment two weeks prior to 12/30. I specifically asked the receptionist if I would…read moreget a reminder text/call/ email of my appointment because they called while I was driving (can't write it down). I'm honestly not someone who usually writes reviews, but my experience with Marisa has been so…read moreimpactful that I felt like I had to share. I drive over an hour each way to see her and it's been so worth it. I originally went to see Marisa for extreme anxiety and ongoing sleep issues, after trying what felt like every modality out there: somatic exercises, journaling, therapy, BIT, meditation, breath-work...you name it. While many of those helped in their own ways, nothing truly moved the needle for me the way hypnoacupuncture with Marisa has. From my very first session, there was an obvious shift. Even the people around me noticed. After that first session, the tension in my shoulders decreased, and the only way I can describe it is that everything (physically & mentally) felt like it had been taken down a notch. Since working with her, my sleep has completely transformed. I went from having an extremely hard time falling asleep and waking up almost every hour, to now pretty much sleeping through the night. If I do wake up, I can fall back asleep easily, and I'm even dreaming a lot which I take as a sign I'm finally getting deep, restful sleep. I've seen such drastic improvements that I genuinely feel like I have a new baseline. I feel so much more in control of my anxiety now and honestly like a completely different person than I was just a few months ago. It's been truly life changing. I honestly wish I could see her weekly. The closest way I can describe how you feel leaving a session is like you just had a massage; you're so relaxed, grounded, and at ease. Marisa has truly touched my life. She is genuinely an angel. She listens, she cares deeply, and she is incredibly dedicated to her clients. If she doesn't have an answer right away, she always follows up, whether by email or the next time you see her, which says so much about the level of thought and attention she gives. I don't feel comfortable around many people, but there's something about her energy that is so light and reassuring. She creates such a safe, welcoming environment, and it makes all the difference. I'm so grateful to have found her and truly can't recommend her enough.

Truly the best. One of a kind. I am so glad to have found Healing Point Therapeutic. I highly…read morerecommend the hypnoaccupuncture and also the intuitive readings. Top notch. Marisa is wonderful in all ways. The office and treatment rooms are also healing.

Tight visitor parking but free!…read more I had no idea there were visiting hours! (Note: I would understand a nighttime cut off.) FYI: 10am-1pm, 4-7pm. Luckily when I entered to visit someone, it was 3:40. I did have to wait about 15 minutes in line to register with the lobby staff as a visitor. Standing in the line, we were next to the exit door that kept swinging open and getting hit with bursts of cold, January air! I have to say, this was a terrible system. Also, apparently kids under 13 can't visit. My 13 year old was with me and I would have been really upset if I found out after standing in line. This was not posted anywhere but apiece of paper handed to me at the check in station. There is a waiting area. Someone alerts you once it hits 4pm and you can then go and visit. I have to say, I disliked the process. It was clearly posted on the patients door that I needed PPE equipment to visit. The nurses station quickly set us up for success. KUDOS to Miriam. About a year ago at a nearby hospital this was the case with my father but nothing was posted and I found out AFTER I had already been visiting with him! The Nurse we had was well liked by our patient but I found her to be a know it all. Telling my daughter what her pathway to college should be. (Not nursing either.) She also didn't get the message we were visiting and just stood around and took up a lot of our patients time. Keep in mind, we offered to leave to let her do her duties but she rejected. It was mostly standing around and being a part of our time. Overall, our older family members really prefer Miriam. I did think the room was very clean and the floor we were on was quiet.

I left after 10 minutes because I saw I would be there probably 12 hrs. They wouldn't estimate my wait time. The nurse told me there's 8 different triage areas. But wouldn't tell me which one I was out in or how long I could be waiting for even though I asked. Just a rough estimate would have been fine. But nope. And there is ONE nurse triaging all the patients. That is insane. They all act like it's a big fkn party. There must have been 75 ppl in the waiting area and about 35 more in line. And they have ONE NURSE. AND SHE TOOK HER SWEET MERRY TIME. SLOW AS A TURTLE. The ER and hospital throughout is like a 3rd world country. Absolutely unacceptable. If it turns out that I have a heart attack or major heart issue, I am suing Miriam hospital. DO NOT GO HERE. GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE. They should be ashamed. I saw plenty of illegal immigrants in there for the sniffles. And those of us with major health concerns have to wait 12 hours. Get your shit together.
