Deeply disappointed in their convoluted application and registration process, unanswered emails, inability of staff to accurately answer questions, and micromanagement of enrollment procedures. As a parent, local teacher with an advanced degree, and participate in the AVID program at the school in which I teach, I do not recommend this school based solely on the application and registration process. By comparison, we also registered at Orange Coast College. The requirements and process are almost identical, but OCC makes it seamless, intuitive, answers emails and phone calls, seeks out the student, and is clear and concise in their information. The side-by-side comparison is of initial enrollment, registration, academic advisement, evaluation of transcripts and AP scores, financial aid, and ability to answer Covid protocol questions. The process does not need to be this difficult. Fullerton needs to get their house in order. As my daughter noted, "OCC seems to want me. It almost feels like I'm being recruited. Fullerton confuses me, and the counselors talked so fast during the group advisement, I didn't get half of it.) read more

hello all! As we all know, it is the beginning of the Spring Semester 2015. I have been attending Fullerton College for two years now, and I'm completely shocked they still have yet to improve the parking situation. That being said, this morning I arrived (of course) an hour and a half early (to find one blessed spot). Usually I luck into one after half to a full hour of circling, today, no such luck! They literally had blocked off the parking garage and enforced it with to officers. Really?! I tried every other lot, of course all full, the streets, forget about it! I have an issue with stress and get panic attacks pretty easily, this threw me into full on spotted vision, sweaty, and breathless episode. I ended up going home, too ridiculous! It is a shame we spend this money (i do not receive financial aid, it's out of pocket that i work for) to miss class because there is no parking, are late and eventually dropped, or have to park in a downtown fullerton bar! Come on Fullerton help a sister out who's just trying to get an education! read more

Now that I am part of the Fullerton College Alumni, I can finally give my review on my experience at this school. I have been to two other community colleges in the past before settling here at Fullerton, so I do have something to compare it to. I was a CRTV student, and I feel that I've learned so much thanks to some great teachers. However, i did have my share of not-so-great professors as well. Just do your research (ratemyprofessor.com)! Half of the campus is really old, the the other half is brand new. I must say, the new buildings are super nice, makes me not want to leave. I love the library; great place to study and kill time between classes.The student center is nice; also in a new building. However, the cafeteria food is totally overpriced and the food is not-so-yummy. And the only places near by are subway and chicago harv's. I recommend bringing a bag lunch. As for the parking; well, it's a college! What do you expect? If you don't want to worry about parking, take a 7am class. Anything after 9am, good luck! I've never had a problem getting classes, but with all the budget cuts, I know it's getting harder every year. My advice, if you're going to take a class, don't drop it. Who knows when it will be available again. Also, Fullerton College has the highest transfer rate to CSU's; something to keep into consideration. read more

As of yesterday, I am officially an alumni of Fullerton College! It's definitely a bittersweet goodbye. I'm happy to be leaving and moving on in life, but I am going to truly miss this school and its faculty. It took me an extra two semesters to transfer and it did not bother me at all. Despite it being a community college, it still gives you that university feel. The campus is absolutely beautiful. Alright, enough of this emotional crap, on to the useful tips! 1. Join the TAP (Transfer Achievement) program. You automatically get into important classes. There's no stress or frustration of getting into a class. And it looks great in UC applications. UCLA eats that up. DO IT. 2. As many others have already said, parking is a bitch and it just got worse this semester. You can no longer park in the neighborhoods. Get a parking sticker. It's pricey ($40??) but worth it. The first couple of months are terrible for parking. You have to wait for the slackers to drop their morning classes because they're too dumb or tired to get up in the morning. Until then, you have to get to school early. It works out though, just save some homework and studying to do in the morning and go to the library until your class starts. 3. Do not eat Fullerton College food. It's nasty and overpriced. I'd rather go to the McDonald's down the street. That says it all. 4. The counselors are terrible. Get information from the actual schools you want to transfer to. Do not listen to the counselors. They told me to take several classes that I either did not need or did not transfer to the schools I wanted to go to. 5. Professors! There are several professors at Fullerton College who are great. Check RateMyProfessor.com for reviews to figure out who to take. A few shout outs, though-- Joe Carrithers, Richard Levesque, Sheilah Stokes-Dobyns, Kelly Kang, and Chuck Schilling. By far... Fullerton is one of the best JCs around. The campus is friendly, open, and inviting. The library is comfortable and quiet (minus some annoying immature first years, ha) and the students here are generally friendly. The professors (for the most part) are excited to teach and want you to learn as much as possible. I've only had one or two bad experiences here... and your best bet is to research your teachers on ratemyprofessor.com. It's a life-saver. Parking is hassle... but that seems to be a problem at every college/university. So stop complaining. At least a parking permit isn't $100+ like some UCs or Cal States. The cafeteria is usually full and loud... a nice place for people to socialize and relax between classes. The food is mediocre - except their grilled cheese with fries. So good. Do yourself a favor and order that! Bathrooms are usually clean... I love the library bathroom because they monitor that one closely. Just a small tip for the ladies. Avoid the quad area around lunch time. There are lots of football guys/random guys lurking around, staring at girls as they walk by. It's very uncomfortable and they will make comments from time to time. Avoid at all costs. Happy learning! read more

I had a good experience at this school about a year ago and went to Santa Ana after due to moving. First year back and I am not really a fan of this campus, perhaps my professor is the one to ruin it for me. Either she has no time because they over book them with classes, which I blame the faculty or she really is a horrible professor (maybe both). Bad experience for a school I had big standards for. She apparently has time for nothing and class is spent more playing high school games. You may be able to weed out the bad professors, but they may not even have the time to even give the extra credit promised or set up canvas until halfway through the semester. read more

You can't ask for more from a college. Great professors, students, and staffs. I got my AA and transferred to CSUF within 2years. Every course I took was easy, fun, and/or meaningful. When you need help, you can always go to the tutoring center, and the tutors are great. The cost of an AA degree is dirt cheap, I swear with financial aid I made money from going to FJC. Having been here for yeeeeeaaaaarrrrrrs, my experience at Fullerton College keeps getting better. The campus is constantly under construction somewhere, but I really like the direction that the remodel is going. It's clean and pretty and huge. Major props for the university-styled library! I love this building, minus the occasional chatter-box high school kids. The Theatre Arts Department is impressive, to say the least. My first year was spent with that department, so when I did a summer production at Cypress College, my directors and co-stars ooh-ed and aah-ed at where I came from. Srsly. I'm currently studying Fashion Design there. I love how small and intimate the department is, but the caliber of instruction being offered is challenging and to-date. Downside, the campus is right across the street from a high school. So between the hours of 2 and 3pm, driving in the area is just stupid-bad. Upside, two blocks west and you're in Downtown Fullerton! Shopping and indie restaurants = Awesome. read more

I really liked Fullerton College, so much so I stayed an extra semester ( but mostly because I partied to hard ) . Which is good because something about this place makes people stay much longer then there previously anticipated time. It's a trap, don't get sucked in. I returned here after 1.5 years at Cal State Fullerton to take a summer school class. I was a little disappointed and I can't put my finger on why. The staff ( not teachers ) were kind of A-holes, the lady in the computer lab was a mega bitch. However, I enjoyed my time here, teachers were good and helpful. They are even building more buildings. It is a really beautiful campus, best JC in the area mos def. - 1 star for becoming a smoke-free campus. Students are stressed out, let them smoke! If they catch you they'll slap you're ass with a smoking ticket. read more

Fullerton College is the oldest community college in the state of California. As students have come and gone, those who have graduated and moved on have statistically performed better than straight out of high school transfers to Cal States and UC schools. The transfer rate is phenomenal. This is because this school is most dedicated, unlike Cal States and UC's, to its general ed programs. Just as Cal States are married to their undergrad programs and UC's are married to their Masters programs. You can't ask for more from a college like Fullerton. They have astounding professors; many who teach at Cal State Fullerton. The students and staff are more sociable due to the size of the college. The staff literally reaches out to you in order to make sure your future is secure. Tutoring here is competitive; therefore, it is easy to find somebody who is willing to give you a hand in such a challenging world. As one of my teachers here once said, It makes me proud to say I live in a country that has an open educational system. If you are a screw up in high school, you still have a chance to get your you know what together and can end up graduating from a school like UCLA or Berkeley. So all in all, I can't find anything wrong with this school EXCEPT for the damn parking!!! OH MY GOD!!! They have a couple parking structures and students cannot find a parking spot. They have to spend 20 minutes roaming around to find one. I don't even know how to describe how bad it is in the beginning of the semester. Let's just say there is absolutely NO place to park within a quarter mile radius of the school, so if you plan on coming here, be sure to arrive no later than 6:30am. read more

Update** Poor counselings, poor school. I know it's hard these days. But they raised 200% of their original price per unit. Cafeteria food is whatever and has poor selection of food. I could not find any parking space since their parking lot is lot smaller than a student population which made a reason why i was late. The art department is great! The English department, especially Ms. Tyson rocks plus she is a total babe. The trendsetters (cosmetology) girls always have cool hair but think they are too cool for school however make a friend with one anyways so you can get a decent hairdresser in the future. Hands down, I loved the sociology classes and my history of rock and roll class. FJC is a great campus and in such a great location. They lose a star for parking. read more

The feel of a community college is so different than a four year university. The first time I step foot into the school, it felt relaxed. Chill, relaxed, yet still a learning environment. The professors here are paid to TEACH not RESEARCH... like four year university professors are. Its amazing the things I learn here. Even though the classes are much paced like in high school, I still learn the things that I want, with professors that really care. Campus is unbelievable beautiful, way more than I expected from a community college. Like my tip says, as small as a high school, as beautiful as a private college. I love this school and will definitely take more classes here in the upcoming summer sessions. read more

It's everything and more you expect from a college! I promise, and I've never broken a promise before. I graduated from UCLA and decided to go back for a masters but I need a few more prereqs to take care of. Already annoyed of the aspect that I'm going from one of the most beautiful campuses and top notch universities to a CC to deal with all the bullshit of closed classes and administration, I was so relieved once I came onto Fullerton's campus. I was lost and a friendly maintenance member helped me through the campus. Already a great way to start knowing that something retarded with my schedule is going to occur. I go to administration and everyone is soooo helpful. I was approached my three administrators because I clearly had a lost and confused face on. They helped me clear prereqs, gave me simple instructions to follow, and I was done with the enrollment process in a single day. All I have to say is F the damn "parking police". Y'all take your job way too damn seriously...and have no heart. I was in an accident, was in a rental vehicle for ONE NIGHT CLASS, THE LAST DAY OF THE SEMESTER and because of all the shit going on at the time, I forgot to move my parking pass from my car to the rental vehicle. I was parked for ONE HOUR (to take my final) and got a ticket. I filled out an appeal form explaining everything...with proof I purchased a parking pass, proof of my accident, and proof I was in a rental vehicle (obviously a special situation, not just being a careless student)...and they still denied it. When I called to pursue it further, a lady officer (with a condescending, bitchy tone I might add) told me I'd have to pursue it further off campus and if I didn't win I'd have to pay for my ticket AND for the meeting with whom ever they wanted me to speak to off campus. So F-ing robotic in my opinion. If I didn't have to pay online via credit card or via check through mail, I'd pay in pennies. ***UPDATE**** I had to pay a processing fee to pay my ticket... I had to pay...TO PAY MY TICKET. It just baffles me that the head of Student Safety wouldn't reassess the situation and have a little grace when reading my appeal form that said I had been in an accident, had a rental vehicle, forgot to move my sticker from my crashed car onto my rental vehicle and that I have proof of all of this. And all he mailed back to me was that I should have had a parking pass.... Be an effing human for crying out loud. The lot was empty since it was the end of the day of the last day of the semester....even IF I was being a careless student who just didn't purchase a parking pass (which I DID), why WOULDN'T you let this go when it's the last class of the day THE LAST DAY OF THE SEMESTER? read more

It's hard to rate a college but I'll try. Pros: Some but not all the professors are really, really good intelligent worldly people. If you do research, you can find decent professional people who you will learn something from. They have a lot of classes and they aren't difficult, so it's good prep before going for an undergrad degree if that is your goal. The campus is big. I have been going here for nearly 3 years and still there's a lot I discover everyday. Most classes are inexpensive. I've never spent more than 600 and they have BOGG. Cons: The campus is not safe. No joke, IT IS NOT SAFE. Don't be fooled by the location. Sexual assault is a common issue. People are not lying about the thugs roaming the parking structure on Lemon looking for victims. I can only assume the school has some negative karma or something attached to it as there is always drama. Christian cults, aggressive street preachers, panhandlers and scam artists looking for a sucker. I have experienced it all. Keep mace on you at all times and be vigilante at night. The bathrooms are dirty and many were built when the school was constructed nearly a century ago. Avoid the restrooms by Stinger's Café, which is covered in a fecal mist, the cafeteria bathroom (no toilet paper), and the toilets in the 1000 and 500 buildings. One semester, the whole 500 building had no working toilets. Seriously, I wanted to get a vaccine after using their restrooms. Administration is a joke. There's a clique in the upper management. I think the new President is trying to diversify and elevate the staff, to get rid of the cliquey behavior, but it's a deeply ingrained campus culture. You realize going up here you're either in or you're out. It's kind of like high school. Parking is a nightmare. The school gets tons of grants and private funds from donors and yet the parking situation has never been rectified. As of 2018 I believe students are no longer allowed to park in the neighborhoods adjacent as the homeowners rightfully demanded their streets back. People have literally been dropped from classes because it is impossible to find parking. I think it's a shame for how big and popular the school is. Neutral: The food is okay. They're getting better. Jamba Juice only stays open during the main quarter semesters and closes during the summer. I think the salad bar and the TexMex shop are the tastiest places on campus. Of course most of the students go for the greasy chicken fingers and doughy pizza at the Burger shack. Unless you like having cystic acne, don't eat there. I wish the school had more private places. I don't really like being bothered when I'm on campus. I hate sitting out on the benches along the quad and such because people think it's an invitation to start chatting and I just want to chill and read in peace for once. The library smells like an unwashed armpit. It's the nasty carpet they have upstairs. But they have tons of cool books I've discovered and I don't think students really utilize it as a resource for classes. There's some heavyweight stuff back there. The best thing about FullColl is the small pack/herd (?) of nanny goats and one billy goat by the baseball fields. They're cute. They lick and purr when you talk to them and really get a lot of attention with their antics. They're funny and brighten my day. Just make sure to not let them nibble your fingers (to prevent biting) and no treats! They're fat enough as it is. read more

I HATED this place when I used to go here in the late 90s to 2000. I like to think of it as high school for grown ups since pretty much alot of people I went to HS with came here, usually the ones who couldn't afford going to 4 yr universities. I was QUITE surprise when i saw certain people from elementary/Jr high/HS come here for a class or a semester. You will see quite a few people you probably went to elementary, Jr high, High school with come here. I had a class once again with an ex elementary/Jr high classmate from few yrs before. Oh if you start taking classes at the bottom of the barrel, it will take you forever to reach a certain level of that area of study, ie English/Reading/Math classes. I recommend taking the general ed classes like art here if you're going to a vocational school like ITT Tech, that way you save money and you don't have to go to a saturday morning class. read more

Regardless of my feelings about school in gerneral, Fullerton College is most definitely my community college of choice. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the campus is relatively small, the buildings are somewhat artsy and fun to look at, and it is a minute's walk from the Downtown Fullerton bar scene. I would suggest using ratemyprofessors.com before registering for any classes because I have had some difficulty with a few bad professors. I think with community college, you never know what quality of teacher you'll be getting unless you look them up. It can also be difficult to get all the classes you want, but I'm pretty sure that's the same with most community colleges with budget cuts and whatnot. read more

Worst Community College most students say they have been to. Admission is just a joke. Continuously losing transcripts electronically and officially. Advisors have no idea what classes to take for the students. When the students attend and transfer to the university the advisors there say those classes are not necessary. Instructors are just terrible when community colleges are supposed to be a foundation whereas some courses are ridiculously difficult for some students to pass. This institution always is in construction. So glad that I have transferred out and gone to another college to graduate with a breeze of better knowledge of the education system. FYI, I do not highly recommend this campus for students to waste their time and money. Students and parents do not go to this campus. Very disappointing campus! Received my A.A year last spring after going through the " I changed my major five times in 5 years" plan. Transferred to CSUF in Kines and cannot be any happier. The transition between going to FJC to CSUF is great. No worries about if classes were to transfer or not. Definitely try some physical education classes. I recommend Eddie Rapp for Surfing or Snowboarding classes. Really fun! read more

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COLLEGE AT ALL. I was involved in a car accident, not just a cute bump from the back, ok? It was a goddamn life threatening accident where my car rear ended by a drunk driver &was flipped 3 times over the shoulder of a freeway and landed up side down. It was during the final exam and they wouldn't excuse my alibi and I failed my class. They finally approved my petition after 2 damn years. After clearing my records, I moved college to rio hondo and requested my transcript. Paid for it only to find out a year later that rio hondo never gotten it and I still need to clear out my prereqs!!! Also, staff that works in all of these colleges always has the attitude of a mortician. If you don't like your job, quit. Apply at a graveyard where you belong :) read more

This is my third semester at Fullerton College. I LOVE this school! It's definitely the best CC you can go to in Orange County. The professors at this school is great! They have an amazing business program that will prepare you well for university. I am currently a business admin major and all the professors I've had are awesome! The counseling department needs work. Most of the counselors aren't helpful. I've been going here for almost 2 years, and I really really love it. I haven't gone to many community colleges, I'm from norcal. This campus is in a good location, and I think their upkeep is pretty good. Over the years they had a lot of remodelling, but it's just to make it better and bigger. Yes it was somewhat inconvenient because it was loud and we were trying to FOCUS in class (haha). I've met some great people here, and the staff is great. I tried to register for a summer english class. Their systems and user faces are all outdated. Expect to have open 20 tabs when trying to register online. Good luck getting ahold of a professor if waitlisted because they do not care whether or not you take the class. Even in this epidemic the student resource workers always seem irritated when you need help or call them. And if the professor doesn't have an email in the class info good luck trying to get ahold of them. All I needed was one english class and am very disappointed that there is so little information online or resources to help me. Nice clean, modern, open campus with plenty of parking structures. I was here for my son's basketball tournaments. The tournament admission was very reasonable, $5.00. Parking pass was only $2.00. The gym was clean and air conditioned! The only draw back and my reason for four stars is that I think they should have more directory signs posted on the roads leading around the buildings, it was VERY difficult to find the gym. it's been nearly 8 years since college. i'm taking an evening class here with kids that are a decade younger than me. It feels good to be back in the college scene studying again! And the campus is pretty good. Especially the library. I wouldn't have expected such a nice library from a community college. Campus seems pretty safe. I don't know too much about their academic programs or anything, but my teacher is good and my peers are all nice. That makes my impression of this school pretty good. read more

I love this school! The atmosphere is really nice and the campus is beautiful. Renovations are still taking place but even with the construction the campus is an eye catcher. Also the bells that ring on the hour are so beautiful and really nice to listen to on the way to your classes. I just completed my first semester and I am looking forward to next semester. I was never really into high school, but once I went to FJC my view has changed completely. I am in the Stdent Goverment and I am also on the track team. I love being involved in my college. It makes the whole expierence alot better. I really recomend coming to FJC if you want to go to a JC with a 4 year feel.
