My family and I were on vacation in Newport Beach. We came across Fun n Sun which appears to be a cool souvenir/toy store however turned out to be far from that. My son was super excited to learn they somewhat appeared to be genuine Pokemon packs for sale, at a premium $10/pack. We bought a few and I told my son to wait until we got back to our hotel until he opened them. Unfortunately it was immediately evident they were fake, from the art work, to the overall look and feel. DO NOT SHOP HERE, look at the reviews, it's not just one or two instances. Went to get henna and they told us it would be $15 for a hand piece. Once they were finished the price changed to $50 per person which was a "deal" since it's normally $75. They were botched, messy and they should not be selling henna at all. After only ONE hour it started peeling with zero pigment underneath as shown in the photos. Wow ill tell ya i had a great time at this t-shirt shop in Balboa Newport Beach. Simon the guy who helped me he found exactly what i wanted and was super helpful and polite i mean this guy really cared about what i was looking for. He made a phone call and i had it. Ive been looking for a Navy Blue pullover in a XXL for a long time and every other store doesn't carry or never has any in stock its always a Large or smaller sizes. I then picked out my patches and he helped me out by making some great suggestions on the design and im really happy the way my pullover sweater turned out. This is my go to place from now on for cool beachie tshirts and sweaters. Thank you Simon see you soon! My pullover is good quality material and i paid $45.00 for the pullover and then $14.00 for 5 patches. Horrible experience. store is overcrowded. shelves piled way too full of cheap tippy items. My son bumped the shelf while shopping as it was right next to an angled section of flooring and about 25 things toppled over. cashier wanted me to pay for them but I complained that the layout was the issue. he threatened to call the cops, he took my photo and as I walked away his two buddies came around the corner and they were cornering me and speaking in an Arabic language. NOT COMFORTABLE. I am a caucasian 5 ft 3 female and I had a small and larger kid with me. long story short I felt very pressured, went back to the store out of goodwill as I am also a business owner and I take responsibility for mistakes. We negotiated a low fee for some of the items, ie 8$ per to go cup which had damaged lids (but were dusty and some scratched already, and are tippy), and yet they threw in a few other charges and it came to $50. one of the clerks was apologetic but overall I don't fee the store is organized well and I wonder if this was a setup as they are not able to sell the cheap poor quality items on that shelf. Yes as youve read, the workers here eavesdrop on your conversations. It seems they are desperate to make a sale with how fast he has a response to everything "It takes 10 seconds to make". The young man who helped us out wasnt rude just pushy, he wasn't not the owner. However, for the price of one custom pullover sweater with a design on the front and both sleeves, $80. They dont tell you prices unless you ask. Seems rather steep especially when @ checkout he goes, its an EXTRA $10 for the wax coating to keep the design from falling apart in the washing machine. Ive never been asked to pay extra for this essential process of a custom shirt design. Also, the front design wasnt on center as we pointed out to him. I know these cartoon designs are unique from the rest of the gift shops and hes probably the graphic designer. Still, theyre clearly a tourist trap location with overcharging. read more

Overall, horrible. They do not have prices on their items. They will tell you one price then change their story at the register. My daughter, son, and I went to the one in Big Bear Lake. We noticed that we were overcharged a lot of money. We went back and Simon corrected it. At least we thought he did. When we left, my daughter noticed that he double charged us. For example, it showed two items at the same price, but we only purchased one. He cheated us again. This time, we called the cops. An officer met us there and he went inside first, to talk to Simon. Then, he asked my daughter and I to join him. Simon had a surprised look. He knew he was caught. He wanted to grab our receipt so he could verify the purchase. This time, we had him say the price, ring it up, and we compared it to our receipt. Again, it didn't match. This time the officer jumped in because he was confused and recognized the scam too. So, the officer went around to see what Simon was doing and Simon inputted all the costs again, one by one. The result? He owed us more money. In total, we were overcharged approximately $425. The officer contacted the owner and I called him. His name is Mina. He was defensive, but the conversation ended friendly. Apparently this is a family owned business. It doesn't excuse what they did though. Small business or large company, you have to have integrity. I won't go back. Oh. What they did wasn't against the law. The officer was called more to facilitate the situation. I can take civil action though. However, the time it would take wasn't worth it. I decided to describe what happened on Yelp and warn others. Well I was shocked to see that the Yelp reviews align with my experience here. I came in today and was looking for a hat since I forgot one and thought I might buy once since it was hot outside. As I was browsing the hat selection I was having a private conversation with my partner and said to her that the hats at this store are $20 and that was kind of expensive for me. I understand that $20 isn't too bad but I simply did not want to spend that much money on a hat at that moment. A person working there (which I assume is the owner since he said he was the one ordering the items and such) interjected himself into our conversation and said in a condescending manner, "well these hats aren't even that expensive, I order them exclusively for this shop." First of all, I was not talking to him. I did not say it that loud so he was eavesdropping and inserted himself into a conversation he was not welcome to. Second of all, as I mentioned I simply did not want to spend $20 on a hat and rather spend it on lunch instead. I responded and told him I am used to expensive prices since I reside in Hawai'i and he told me he was going to open a shop in Hilo. Haha yeah...with that attitude he will not be welcome in Hawai'i and especially Hilo where some of the nicest people I have ever met reside. He needs to really check himself and improve his social skills or simply keep his mouth shut when you hear your customer having a private conversation. When he did the sleeve some of it didn't stick and didn't adhere correctly. When I pointed it out to him he said it was fine. I told him no thank you I'm not purchasing this. I got a kids hoodie (for myself) which came with a free screenprint! $27 after tax, not bad for a needed sweater at the beach lol. They offer about 30 different options for screen printing. When she went to check out, the man at the register said he was not going to take the additional 30% off like the sign said. We were helped by a gentleman who was very helpful when we were in California. We lost our purchase somewhere on our way home. I called the store and spoke to a very nice woman who was willing to send us all the t-shirts and souveniers we had originally purchased for a very small shipping cost. We received our items in just a couple of days. I was very pleased. Then, the next day, the lady from the store called to make sure we received our purchase and that it was what we had requested.
