A very reasonable cost for a ton of fun. The guy at the shop was friendly and helpful despite being the only person running the store during a very busy weekend. The bikes have their fair share of wear and tear but still run very smoothly. It may take some getting used to when it comes to steering as it requires some balance when leaning from side to side. Absolutely great time to spend 90 minutes, which is honestly a very long time and we ended up splitting it up between the 13 of us and still had plenty of time for all of us. read more

We've had the beach bikes on our "bucket list" for a while, so we'd planned in advance to be there when it opens to enjoy a longer ride with the bikes. They are open based on the tides - which is clearly important! So that was great to read on their FB page. Each day changes with time - due to the tide, so be aware and plan accordingly. We went on a Thursday, hoping to avoid major crowds - while it was very crowded in the town we arrived at opening time and were able to get in and out very quickly. We arrived at the store, my son went ahead while I parked. There is a public parking directly across from the store which is an amazing find - just be sure you get there early enough to get a spot. I was concerned it would be a long line with the new COVID restrictions and 1 person at a time in the store. However they were very fast and very efficient. They provided simple but precise instruction, clear in their communication on how to use the bikes and explaining everything to look out for on the beach. Ensured my taller son had a bike that fit him - it did and it was perfect. I had a beach bag that I wanted to take but there is no place to put it, they offered a back pack which was a huge help and bonus - talk about customer service support. The back pack saved me as was easy to place on my front so I had provisions for the kiddos. We rented the recumbent beach bikes, you have to carry them to the beach but it's super easy. Just follow their instructions. It will take a few minutes to get a handle on how to move your body with the bike - there is no hand steering, it's all through you body which is a great core workout :-) I think it's a fantastic experience for the young and old. The bikes we had were well oiled in and good functioning order, we had no issues with the bikes although my younger child was tired before we made it to the end of Cannon Beach so it took a while getting back. If you are taking it to enjoy the tide pools it's an easy there and back. My 11 year old got tired a bit earlier than my older son and I. They do have kids carrier attachments which is awesome if kiddos are younger. But I think if you make it an easy ride, an enthusiastic younger child could manage the beach bike a short distance. I'd plan for extra reinforcements like cool drinks and something to sustain a 1 1/2 to 2 hour ride and adventure on the beach. Since it was a good sunny day - sunscreen and hats are best. Prices were completely reasonable and totally worth it - ours was $20 for 90 minutes with some grace period to get to and from the beach. They were excellent all around. I'd highly recommend this and we will absolutely do this again. read more

We rented 2 adult bikes for 45 minutes, along with a kid trailer to pull our 2 kids. I have not rented from Family Funcycles, but spoke with the owner, and saw the bikes, and they are all in much better condition than the bikes at Mike's Bike Shop (about which I posted a negative review after our experience there). Family Funcycles has 12 different sizes (compared with Mike's two sizes), and their chains are all in good condition - I looked them all over just before they closed for the day. All of the funcycles we saw - and the two we rented - at Mike's had rusted chains, and as I noted in my review of Mike's, one of those rusted chains came off its sprocket (twice), and we had to walk it all the way back up the beach. I'm surprised no one else has reviewed this place, and am giving it five stars based solely on my inspection of the bikes, my conversation with the owner and the range of sizes they offer. I hope others who have first-hand experience in renting bikes from Family Funcycle will share their experiences here. Open according to the tide, this little bike shop has well kept bikes, good selection, a tandem bike and three wheeled "fun cycles". The owners are very helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely seem interested in making things as easy as possible. Rates are very reasonable, especially considering how well maintained their bikes are. One of the owners is a comic book buff and there are some on display. Biking on the beach is amazing. We enjoyed the upright cycles and biked to Hug Point about 8 miles round trip. Very pleasant experience. read more

We planned on renting these fun bikes in Seaside but were in Cannon Beach having lunch so we asked if there was a shop there. Am I glad we did! We had a blast!! The owner was so great. Very friendly and helpful. Like the other reviewer mentioned, they have many sizes to choose from. They purchase the bikes in the two sizes available then modify them into the other sizes. I had a four year old and a six year old riding. They gave my four year old some small cushions so that he could reach the pedals more easily. It cost $15 for 1 1/2 hours for each of us and it was well worth it (the trailer for my two year old was free). We rode all around the beach near Haystack Rock and even stopped to look at the starfish and anemones. I would highly recommend this shop and we will be back in the future. Had a blast on these. Staff was great and very friendly. We have rented from here more than once and loved it. If you want to shop, both Seaside and Cannon Beach are great. But, if you want to play in the sand and water, Cannon Beach is the best! These bikes are truly fun and much more comfortable than a regular bike. Legs can get tired sure, but that was it. No discomfort at all in neck, back, hands, arms, or rear end. We paid $17 each for 90 minutes, which was plenty of time and worth every penny! I believe you also get a free trailer rental when you rent two bikes. Can't wait to go back. read more

We rent these every year as it is one of the highlights of being at the beach. Great way to see the beach, great exercise, super fun AND this year we took our dog trailer down ( my husband had a shop in Seattle fabricate an attachment) & were able to have our 2 small dogs with us. As their legs are too short to run along side the bikes as well as the danger of them getting run over by the wheels and the fact that you are not able to leave dogs unattended in your motel room, we struggled with not being able to rent the bikes every day of our trip with no place to leave our dogs. Now, they can come with us & we can ride to our hearts content. Steve & Dave are AWESOME & this is truly the highlight of our yearly Cannon Beach vacations!! We LOVE Family FUNcycles!! read more

Location is right in the middle of cabin beach which means that (almost) no matter what time of day or is busy and difficult to get parking, plus the shop is TINY. it also doubles as a comic book store so that's cool. My whole extended family was able to get some bikes and were loved how much/far were were able to explore the coast and hang out at Haystack. read more

I made the mistake and rented from Mikes Bike shop (as many others have). The following day found Family fun cycles and tried them. It was the difference between night and day. Family FUNcycles is the only place you should rent these three wheeled fun cycles from. You have to walk all of 2 minutes to the beach and then your riding. All the bikes are well maintained and ready to go. They have every size you need from child to 6 foot plus people. If your looking for a great way to spend a day at the beach with the entire family this is the way and the place to go. Family FUNcycles is bumpin'. We rented the cycles one sunny morning during low tide and had a blast! We had seen others with the funcycles, and walked in to rent (no rez). The young guy working the counter was very funny and kind, and handled the constant stream of couples and families well. He gave us the lesson and rules and we were on our way to FUN town. We zoomed around the beach, taking in Haystack & beyond, and all the way to Ecola creek (they warn you can't ford it, and they are very correct!). Returning the cycles was a breeze; the same guy we rented from was there and made sure and checked that we had a good time (indeed! he's a sweet fella). Highly recommend renting these if you're in Cannon beach. read more

Rented one of the recumbent beach bikes today and had a blast! David was really helpful despite being really busy with customers. After some initial misunderstanding on my part about how to steer the bike, I got the hang of it pretty easy. It was wonderful to do this at low tide so that I could combine tide pooling with biking(just to clarify, I left the bike on dry sand when I walked around the tide pools). A natural camaraderie develops among those who are using these bikes on the beach and I found everyone quick to offer helpful suggestions. In fact, by the end of my 90 minute ride, I was able to coach someone else! I am in my 60's, and I saw people of all ages having fun with these bikes. What fun! read more

We decided to rent from these guys because of the awesome video they have posted on their Facebook page with the kid who has filmed himself and his family on the fun cycles. We had a blast! My wife and kids (25 and 28) rode these things from one end of the beach to the other. The default rental time is 1.5 hours which is just perfect. If you want it longer it's only slightly more for another half hour and they charge you when you get back. They have different sized for different people - even trailers. And the guy who runs the place is a kick! I really can't imagine this having been any better. I absolutely know we will be back. read more

$17 for a 90 min beach ride plus time allowance to get the bike to and from the store to beach. The suggested 7 mile ride north then south of haystack rock round trip is perfect. A bit of a leg exercise but not too difficult. The lower the tide the more available perfect riding sand. Probably the best part in addition to getting a light workout while seeing more of the beach was the herding dogs who were happy run run along and race us. Definitely will be back. read more

You can rent Funcyles for the family and Beach cruisers for adults here! There is nothing more freeing than having the wind blow through your hair as you ride on the beach. Rented those three wheeled bikes and had lots of fun on Cannon Beach. The owner and his son were really nice and accommodating! We'd do this again. Once we got used to steering it, we had a good time doing donuts on the beach. One thing to note is having to walk them down to the sand which was only one block.
