We could not have asked for more professionalism and support during these trying times. My husband and I, afterwards, set up pre-need services for ourselves to ease the burden on our children when the time comes. We were able to sit down and plan out OUR wishes and needs, 12 plus years ahead of time (and counting), when emotions are not running high and time pressures are on... Another bonus, the price is covered with their pre-paid program, no matter how much time goes by. Other friends and family have also taken advantage of their pre-need services to reduce the stress on their loved ones on our recommendation. It does give you peace of mind. read more

Before my mom passed, my sister and I chose Funeral Caring to take care of her funeral arrangements. We met with Richard at the Bandera location, and he was kind, compassionate, and knowledgeable. After notifying them of our mothers passing, we spoke with Nancy Powell, who was our funeral director. From the point of notification, every conversation with her was full of rudeness, a lack of empathy and compassion and lies. She takes no accountability for her actions and when I confronted her on some lies she told, it was just shrugs and an "Oh well", and crossed arms. She didn't even have the courtesy of showing up to our mom's funeral, not that I wanted her there. I've already made it very clear to Nancy that she is an unlikable person. I dont know how or why she interacts with the public when she makes it clear that she doesn't like people or her job. Nancy Powell should not be in this position nor doing this job. She never returned calls, lied to our faces and stole a death certificate from us. She is rude, slow and unprofessional. After a while, we thought it was personal because my family and I bumped heads with her regularly but NOPE!! Apparently this is how she is, with other families! If I could give zero stars I would. We lost my son unexpectedly, and from the very beginning it felt like a business transaction. Very little compassion from any employee I talked to. Nancy was the one supposedly in charge of my son, but I think we spoke to her once. Every time I'd try to call her to ask questions, she was busy. Always promised a call back, but would never receive one. The one time they called me was for a payment. We went for a viewing, and it was behind glass. Not able to touch him one last time. Then afterwards, I was told to shush. I guess my crying was disturbing, although I think we were the only customers at the time. And again, no Nancy. We never did meet her. The only person that seemed to care was Richard at the Bandera location, where we picked him up. I have felt more compassion from my vet when we had to put our dogs down. read more

I can't say enough how helpful and stress free gong to Funeral Caring for their services was for me and my family . As this was the first death I had to arrange and unfortunately know will have to do more in the future . This provider has multiple locations and each venue has a different feel . It took me three different venues to finally say once I walked in to the third location , This is it !! :) My care coordinator was awesome and kept me informed of all paper work to be completed and all this done virtually and over the phone which was a plus . Then financially having difficulty they worked with us , it was not discounted but allowed us to bring in the fund on different days with no pressure . I would like to express my genuine thanks to the folks at Funeral Caring. When my mother passed I had visited different funeral homes to get information. They were all very expensive, and a couple (names not given), really had the feeling of just being a business. I was a little skeptical when I first spoke with FC. It seemed too "cheap" in price, and the location wasn't as fancy as some of the others. Jetti, the rep at the Bandera location, sat with my family and me and went over everything. She recommended I look at their larger location on Mossrock because of the anticipated number of visitors. Cynthia, that location rep, was also very helpful. Upon reviewing the received info from all the homes and considering our budget, we decided to go with FCUSA. Immediately, we were treated with respect and care. Sandra Morales was my initial Funeral Director. She took time to counsel every step I needed to take. Travis McDaniel then took over and was the most amazing Funeral Director. He made time to work with us, and finally recommended we use the location on I-35 inside of Alamo City Church. My husband and I visited the location, and while we didn't think it looks like much initially, we were sorely mistaken. It was roomy and we were greeted by Richard with a smile. He took us on a tour and let us know how they could help us set things up. On the day of the funeral, we were amazed at the beautiful job they did with my mom. She looked beautiful. Everything we requested was there, extra tables for photos, a kneeler, a projector, and the cards. We paid for extra time and the evening staff was very helpful. They did not make us feel rushed and were extremely gracious. When it came time to close the casket, Richard and Gladys let me stand by and were very gentle with mom. It is a memory I will cherish. Travis then worked with the arrangements at Fort Sam. Mom was cremated and I was updated regularly. Because of COVID, we had a delay in laying her ashes. FCUSA sent regular updates and helped me when I wanted to provide my own urn and keepsakes. The morning of laying the ashes to rest, Travis was waiting with a smile. Mom was displayed beautifully, and he stayed for our service. I can't say enough about how much the kindness and personal touch shared by FC means. My mother was special to us, and the Funeral Caring staff treated her as she was equally as special to them. I will always be thankful to Travis, Jetti, Cynthia, Richard, Sandra, and Gladys for all they did. It meant more than they know! read more

It is very emotional planning services but Funeral Caring made it very easy and they were very sympathetic to me and my family. I never give reviews but this time I couldn't let it go without letting other people know what a horrible place this was handling my sister's funeral arrangements. My sister passed away suddenly the last week in June. We chose Funeral Caring USA thinking it was the right choice but soon we found out we made a HUGE MISTAKE!!!! We used the location on Leon Valley and we met with Jettie , she didn't know much of anything, she couldn't give us straight answers. We asked to speak with the funeral director Nancy Powell who was never available to answer our questions. This place made soooo many mistakes. They put the wrong clothes on my sister's body , Jettie made promises to me that she didn't keep and when I confronted her about it she completely ignored me. My brother in law had already gave us permission ( sisters ) to make decisions and yo talk to the funeral personnel and they didn't respect that. They didn't communicate with us many things that we needed to do and that delayed getting my sister's body out of the MEs office. They made mistakes on my sister's death certificate also. Jettie was very unprofessional and she seemed bother whenever we asked questions. I don't even know why they call this place "CARING " because they are not. We had just lost my sister and we were dealing with our deep pain and to be disrespected by this place on top of that was unacceptable!!!!! Breaks my heart to see a bad review. My Aunt in S.A referred us, & her friendS have used. THERE AREN'T WORDS FOR THE CARE, PROFESSIONALISM, THEY PROVIDED US. We phoned from the ICU room in Austin where our Mom had JUST passed, and in minutes, Josue arranged transporting our Mom and assuring us of her care. NEXT DAY spent long time in his office in SA arranging cremation, at reasonable price (seriously). Sister & I viewed Mom before cremation days later (timing after Christmas etc). (We held a memorial svc at church apart from F.C.USA.) There aren't words for the caring "net" that Josue provided for us to rest in. Please ask all your questions & ask for referral. So sorry they had this negative experience...I KNOW they've done beautifully for others. read more

Overall, this company provides excellent service at a very reasonable cost. The only negative comment I have is that when the company representative presented the pre-paid contract to me, he said that if I purchased a certain service (e.g., use of tents and chairs at the cemetery for $700) but did not use them, I would be charged only the stated $400 for the opening/closing service. I did not use the tents & chairs and was given a partial refund but not as much as I was told. When I spoke with the company owner, he said "Read the fine print on the back of the contract, where it says that the company doesn't have to refund anything." My advice is, use this company BUT, SIGN UP FOR ONLY WHAT YOU NEED AND DON'T BELIEVE THE ORAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN YOU AND THE COMPANY REP. This last experience ruined what would have been a very positive review. For a small amount of money the company president has left an impression of dishonesty and misrepresentation. Any company (and this was from the owner) that relies on the "you should have read the fine print" excuse is less than honorable. read more

Terrible experience. They completely dropped the ball twice. I hope no one else has to deal with the memorial service of their loved one being ruined thanks to the funeral director dropping the ball. We coordinated the venue on our own as well as the service. The only think Funeral Caring was responsible for was the flag and the military group to play taps being there and sending the church the itinerary for them. They missed the deadline on sending the itinerary and told my mother (who just lost her husband) they forgot to get the flag and that she would have to travel to another city to pick it up if she wanted the folding of the flag as part of the funeral (military funeral). We were completely upset that we were unable to honor our loved one to the full extent he deserved. I hope to never have to use a funeral director at all but if I do I will choose coordinating it myself over using these con artists again. read more
