From the very beginning Castillo Funeral home showed my family and I nothing but compassion and care. The one receiving my father was so kind to us and patient with our goodbyes at the hospital, Xochitl was very compassionate and showed us kindness when calling to schedule the services and also till the end of the burial service we were still taken care of like family. The funeral home is very warm, welcoming, spacious and clean. The cost of the funeral was very reasonable as well with everything we ordered. Was lied to by the funeral director Xiochi and staff. My mother passed and used these guys for the services. The issues began after the fees were paid. Xochi stated she was having trouble getting a hold of the church we were using for my mother's final mass, I called the church they stated no one had reached out, that they would call the FH, waited no call back. I called FH states no one had contacted them from the church yet, church called stated services were set Xochi stated church had not sent fax. Contacted FH next day stated all set gave date and time. Xotchi called next day said since church had NOT confirmed did I want mass to be at FH. Explained FH stated church service was set and that her own people had confirmed. Xotchi stated she had not heard of anything being set. Day of funeral church services went well, after was told cemetery had not cleared us to go on to grounds (National Cemetery) we had to wait at church for an hour, then got to cemetery and again was told we had to wait an hour. 2 months later got a phone call from FH advised had a refund check at FH. Went to pick up check was told person giving out check was not there. Walked out called FH asked to speak to GM put on hold. Person giving out check mysteriously arrived and check was now available for pick up. read more

We recently lost a family member due to COVID. They chose this funeral home for the services. The day of the services, the staff approached the family an hour before the service. They told the family that payment was due, and the services would not be performed without payment. I understand the need for payment, but an hour before the service was unreasonable. The family had to leave the service, drive home, obtain cash, go to HEB obtain money order, and then return. The women who worked in the funeral home that evening did not even check on the family. There was no compassion shown. The young man who worked the next day was wonderful. Was professional and compassionate towards the family. If you are looking for a funeral home this one can definitely help. If you looking for compassion, you may want to look around more. read more

Castillo Mission Funeral Home is the place to go in San Antonio for funeral care. They are affordable and offer excellent service with both compassion and kindness. They tell you when you sign the contract how much money you owe and that the money is due a couple of days before the service. They even help coordinate with the burial site. I hope I don't have to see them for a long, long time (no offense to Castillo) but if I do, I will go there with the knowledge that our loved one is in great hands. read more

This place is incredible. They are thoughtful, considerate and thorough. My husband passed away from a cancer that, at the end, caused every organ to fail, had a blood infection and was bleeding from his eyes, nose and mouth. By the time he passed he was hardly recognizable as the man I'd loved for so long. I absolutely dreaded the viewing and having to see him like that again but when I arrived he was exactly how I remembered him, they'd even trimmed his hair and edged him up exactly how he did in life even though I hadn't provided a picture. My husband was very vain about his hair so that was an exceptionally thoughtful thing to do. He had been perfectly cleaned up, all blood was removed, scars, blemishes etc were invisible. They did an absolutely amazing job and I am so grateful that my last memory of him is no longer him suffering and turning into a stranger but the love of my life as always. They always kept in contact with me and even split the ashes for me so I could give some to his ex wife for their children. I hope to never need them again but if I ever end up in a tragic situation again, I would absolutely go back. read more

Very disappointed. Felt like we were treated with no dignity or respect for our brother. My brothers preparation was really horrible, we didn't even recognize him. So bad we had to have a closed casket. From his facial expression, to the fact that he had embalment fluid coming out of the side of his mouth. When I addressed the funeral director his solution was to do a closed casket. I felt like kicking his ass, but for the fact that I would probably have been arrested and missed my brothers service. I would never ever recommend this place for anyone to use. I'm not sure who to contact as far as license and regulations, or to file a formal complaint with the state. read more

I came here for my mothers funeral services and Antoinette "Toni" was AMAZING. She went above and beyond for my family and I. If I had any questions (I had ALOT of questions) Toni would answer every single one. She was very thorough with the service package they had due to COVID-19 and everything that was included with it. She was very professional and considerate of my feelings and how I envisioned my mother. She did a wonderful job. My family and I were very nervous the day of and Toni made sure everything went smooth and perfect. I can't thank her enough! If you're reading this Toni, thank you so much. anyone/everyone, please do not use this funerl home. my 19 year old daughter died tragically, and this funeral home, treated me horrible and with no respect. after call after call after call. there is no excuse i document everything, i work for a business where yelp is used to bring business and if i can save someone, please don't go, i didn't even recognize my daughter and thats because we had a professional make up artist do her make up. you couldn't stand but a few feet because her body stunk like formaldehyde or/and another strong fluid. her brother kept spraying her with perfume. im a cristian persons and i have god in my life, but im not done with this place, i am going straight to the top. especially with my daughter dying so tragically, the hurt, the anguish they put me through on top of her death was beyond measure. read more
