When my daughter had the unfathomable task to plan the funeral for her first born child she asked me to help her find the best funeral home in San Antonio. Without hesitation I replied, Porter Loring. I already knew the reputation that Porter Loring had of being compassionate and providing quality care for the deceased and the families of the deceased. They certainly lived up to their reputation. They took care of everything for my daughter and son-in-law and most of all they provided immaculate care for my Grandson. I want to recognize everyone at Porter Loring for the outstanding job they did for my entire family. From the funeral directors: Crystal G., Amy G., Daniel G., Barrett S., Marisa M. To the amazing care team: Lexi L., Elena M., Bethany J., Avery M., Claudia R., Danny G., Shawn R., Kaine C., Hector G., Jermaine A., Aubrey C., Tetiana D. Administrators: Kelsey H., Amy N., Cristina R., Amy D., Dina A. Service Associates: Glori R., Riley R., Louis L. This entire staff deserves recognition because they showed my family that we weren't just another family experiencing the loss of a loved one. They treated us like family and displayed the utmost professionalism I have ever witnessed. Thank you to everyone at Porter Loring for making this experience better than we could have ever imagined.

They are out of Dallas and contract out to funeral homes across the state. They leave your loved ones body in cold storage until they have enough bodies to get a discount rate from a local crematory. My mother was left in cold storage for over two weeks before I was able to have her loved to a funeral home who will take care of her last wishes before this coming Tuesday. Donald Shinn is the funeral director for this Jake leg company. He is beyond rude on the phone and will not allow anyone to speak as he constantly speaks over you. When you get the slightest upset he speaks down to you. Highly unprofessional. Twice in twelve hours he rudely told us to find another funeral home to serve us. He had not even applied for the death certificate within the 10 days required by law and only submitted the statement of death to the state just yesterday AFTER. Being informed by another that he was in violation of the law for not applying for the certificate. The statement of death is the first thing done. Professional and compassionate? Empathy? None of the above apply to these pieces of trash. Again find another service to use. Better yet, make use your arrangements are in order before you pass. Don't use these guys. They left one ladies mother in cold storage 2 months before handing her over to another to finish the service and that woman's parents had already paid acremation in full. No happy resolution happened there. Again look at the BBB about this horrible company. Reviews don't lie. Yes I got hot at this beta man after he insulted my wife on the phone and refused a service after contracts and money was signed and removed from our account, then toying with my emotions later that afternoon. He then refunds us only a portion we paid for their services??? What service except stress. He will hide behind a blanket statement of time things take. Go call any other funeral service and see how long a direct cremation takes. The longest will tell you is 5-6 days from start to finish. This company says up to 14 days. That's because they are busy filling up a freezer with bodies for a cut rate. They claim a high volume of 3400+ cremations a month. But then out of the other side of their mouth say that takes time. So high volume equals low efficiency? High volume means you don't get a call back to update status. Just sit down shut up and we do what we want. Yeah I'm pissed. Beyond belief. Donald pushed my button that should never be pushed. I'm glad to know the state licensing board publicly gives the license number along with the licensees home address. Which I have stored for a future date.

My Father passed on a…read moreThursday evening and I spent all day on that Friday at the funeral home and the Nursing Home picking up his items. I got home about 9 pm and started looking for caskets. I made many calls and either I had to wait until Monday to call back or I had to leave a message. You see, I didn't have a lot of time: the Funeral Home needed the casket by Tuesday. I found one company who could have shipped the casket in one day; but, I had to pay the shipping from the airport. Finally, after 1:00 am I reached Express Caskets. I spoke with a live person and was pleased with their selection, costs and delivery time. To make things even better, I was able to save a few dollars by making my payment directly to their account. Also, they were able to not only deliver by Tuesday, they delivered earlier than promised. I was finalizing the arrangements and went downstairs to wait when I was advised that the casket arrived an hour ago. I went downstairs to watch it be unpacked and was blown away by the quality. The Funeral Director asked me how much I payed and said the casket was absolutely beautiful. This is one of the most stressful times in life, not only emotionally but also financially because so many people take advantage. I am so happy for Express Caskets and their high level of dedication and honesty along with no delivery fees. They are truly the best!

A family should not have to go through extra stress on top of what they are going through. The funeral director we were appointed did not help things go smoothly nor did she handle situations the way they should have been handled, sad part is location manager knew everything that was going on and still we were allowed to be treated the way we were. I lost time with my mother the morning of our good byes time I will never ever get back. Because of an over sight that was not ours. It's sad that grieving families dealing with so much already can be treated badly, to go as far as to bribe you with a family car because of an over sight and to confront a family a minute before the rosary is about start to basically tell you, it didn't matter what you paid for things were going to go the way they needed them to go because of an over sight they made. My poor mother being moved from room to room, upper management only made things right after it was brought up we had a binding contract we had signed. So disappointed in this funeral home.
