This is definitely one of my favorite breweries in Colorado. They have hands down the best saisons, and I very much enjoy the specials they infuse at the tasting room through a hop rocket. I've been to quite a few breweries in my life. All over the U.S. So I feel like I have a good understanding of what's good and what's not so good. This one is by far one of the best! From the moment we walked in we were impressed. I've actually never had such wonderful service EVER from a brewery. They gave us fresh water once we sat down, the menu was clear and easy to read, they also gave us pretzels while we waited for our beer. We had our kids with us (3,6) and they were so friendly and welcoming to them. The best thing I saw was when someone walked in with their two dogs. One of the servers immediately filled up a dog bowl and walked over to the dogs at the table to give to them. If that's not service I don't know what is. On top of all of that every beer I tried was delicious. They easily have something for everyone on their menu. I wish more breweries were up to this customer service level. This has easily become one of the best breweries I've been to and I'll for sure be back! read more

Fort Collins is known for its craft breweries, and this one stands out from the group as one of the best. Delicious selection of beers, all based upon the Saison yeast (don't let that fool you, they churn out everything from Wit's to Stouts). The brewers are committed to their beer quality and are constantly creating new batches of heaven for visitors to try. The tap room is small and intimate (with a good sized patio as well). Its always a fun mixed crowd of everyone from tourists to local beer geeks. They are a bit off the path from the central hub of the downtown breweries, but certainly worth the few extra minutes. In fact, they are a great place to start your journey as you spiral inward towards Old Town. They also have a small selection of snacks (including some local cheeses) that your an purchase to enjoy with your beer. Also, they are open much later than most of the other breweries, making them a great place to go if you are looking to drink some local beer in the evening, but don't want a typical "bar scene." We had an awesome first time experience at Funkwerks! If you're a saison lover this is a must visit. Lauren provided us the best experience at the bar from beginning to end. We started with the funkwerks flight and ended with a few tastes of their barrel aged selection. My favorite was the saison aged in the muscat barrel. Aside from their barrel aged brews they have a Great spectrum of farmhouse ales and sours. We loved Lauren and her genuine hospitality and great sense of humor. If sour is your thing, waste no time and get yourself to Funkwerks. This tiny little space used to house Ft. Collins Brewery before they moved into their new digs. The Saison is probably the most popular and occasionally available in Colorado, but I have never found it outside the state. Other standouts were the Belgian Resistance and the Maori King. They also offered a flight of 3 specialty sours made by another guest brewer. OMG, each one was better than the last. Of course, I am a sour person. But really, each of these beers was extremely well-balanced. The patio was hopping with a very cool and friendly crowd. I left without any beer to take home (only carry on luggage this trip : ( but I managed to score a cute t-shirt so I can represent Funkwerks in AZ. Hey, Funkwerks ever heard of Plaza in Tucson? If you like Belgian beer, you'll like Funkwerks beer. We were lucky enough to try all of their beers and my favorites were the White, Key Lime and the Chardonnay. I'm not big into pale ales and bitter tasting beers, but even the most bitter one they had was pretty mild and easy on the palette. As for the place itself, it was *dead* on Thursday at 8:30 PM. No one but the four of us were there, but it was nice to sit at the bar, casually chat amongst each other and the girl behind the bar, who was super nice and friendly. They haven't been open long so I forsee lots of cool events in their future. Hopefully that location starts to pick up though...no one wants to stay long if they are the only ones there. read more

This place is amazing! I just don't understand how one brewery could make so many great beers. I'm pretty sure the Greek Gods were wasted on Belgian Beer the day brewer Gordon Schuck was born, because they gave him the brewing skills only a God could possess. 1,000 years from now, when our children open the encyclopedia to research Belgian Beer, it will simply be the story of Funkwerks. If I ever win the lottery, from that day forth I will only bathe in a whirling tub of Funkwerks Saison while sipping on a slightly chilled bottle of Tropic King. This is my second visit to Funkwerks and I wish we lived closer because I'd be a regular fixture at their tap room. If you enjoy Belgian style saisons, this little gem of a brewery will blow your mind. The tap room is small and dog-friendly, the outdoor seating area is full of picnic tables and skirted with fruit trees. Do yourself a solid and get a flight - I highly recommend the Specialty flight and then an extra taster of Tropic King or barrel aged Tropic King. Supremely refreshing and delightful! read more

Super great tap room in Ft. Collins - not to be missed if you like Belgians. They usually have a few limited edition releases on tap - do NOT miss the Farmhouse Ale if they have it. I've heard through the grapevine they're thinking about bottling this, but for now, you have to get to the brewery for a taste. What a great brewery! My husband and I decided to pay them a visit one evening around 8:15pm, so we had a limited amount of time considering they close at 9pm. It was quiet and not terribly busy, which was very welcome compared to our experiences at other local and popular breweries. It was nice to be able to sit and hear each other talk. We both decided to order the beer flight so that we could taste everything that they offered, since this was our first time tasting Funkwerks brews. For $9 we got five 4 oz pours of their flagship beers. They were actually very substantial pours. And oh my goodness, what delicious beers! Three of the five were variations on a Saison; my favorite was the King. We enjoyed all of the beers. We were very impressed with the server, Laura. She was the only server/bartender that evening, but did a great job at customer service. We still had two beers left at 9pm, but she told us to take our time and relax, because she had lots of work to do to clean up. She was very conversational with us, and other customers as well. We look forward to visiting this brewery again the next time we are in town, it is one of our favorites in the Fort Collins area. read more

I want to preface this review with, I'm really not much of a beer drinker. Then why go here? I'm constantly trying to find a new beer that I could like. Funkwerks had great reviews and seemed like something right up my alley. Inside was small but still seemed to offer ample seating. Had additional seats outside, but was too cold at the time. Was excited to see on the menu that the beers all had noted of several fruits, which assured me I would enjoy them. I got the original flight, and this goes back to me not drinking or knowing a lot about beer, but most of them tasted the same and I couldn't taste any of the fruit notes the menu stated. The one I was certain I would like, Raspberry Provincial, was very tart. Now the menu did say tart raspberries, and they meant it! Overall, loved the ambiance but wasn't crazy about beer selection. read more

I came here on a brew tour of Fort Collins. This was actually our first stop. I tours of some of the other ones, but not here. However, of all of the beer I tasted, I would have to say Funkwerks has my top rating for delicious beer. They specialize in doing only Belgian saison style beers with different variations. I would have rated it a five, but it was smaller than the others, it had less variety of beer styles and I didn't see any evidence of a food truck to help soak up those suds. Nevertheless, for Belgian saison beer, I haven't been anywhere better...maybe someday I'll go to Belgium and see what they've got. read more

This is a specialty craft, a relatively small brewery with 6 craft beers. Their beers were crafty to say the least. Iit was a perfect blend of flavors averaging 6 percent abv. The beers are traditional Belgian flavors. The beer was delicious but the overall feel of the place kinda killed it for me so late in the night. The bartender was kinda well... BLAH. A bit unpersonable however this place a great for people who love their belgian beers. YUM! read more

I bought a 4-pack of Raspberry Provincial a couple weeks ago and it wasn't right. The beer seemed like 100% fizz and carbonation. This was quite possibly the fault of improper storage on behalf of the bottle shop I got it from. I sent Funkwerks an email and they were extremely helpful. They replaced the original 4-pack and gave me another of my choosing of equal value. Both the Raspberry and the Apricot, which I chose, were excellent, smooth sours. I was well taken care of and for sure will patronize Funkwerks whenever I can. One of the many reasons to support small business. read more

I love Funkwerks' beer - there are only a few breweries where I can say there's not a single beer I don't enjoy, and this is one of them. The taproom is usually not very crowded, as it's located in a quiet industrial area near the edge of town, and has a relaxed atmosphere. The service has been friendly each time I've been in as well. The indoor seating is somewhat lacking as this is a small place, but they have a nice outdoor area with a yard, benches, and cornhole. Funkwerks is a nice spot to have a beer and hang out for a little while in the evening, but I don't think I would come here at night as there's not a whole lot else in the area. read more

I loved this place. Their beers are so good. The small, intimate setting is perfect for the start to a date night or gathering with friends for a couple drinks. Really good drinks. The sampler is perfect for sharing or heck, have it all for yourself! My favorite was the Raspberry Provincial and luckily we were able to safely bring a bottle home to Michigan in our luggage. There is a great picnic area outside, a nice place to sit in the sun, drink beer, and enjoy the day. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. My favorite is Tropic King but I have sampled a number of their other creative options and they are usually pretty yummy--Solena aside. I like the brewery space. It is unique and quaint. What's to say except I think this is easily the most unique brewery in Ft. Collins and arguably the best of them all. The beer is niche, but they've got something for everyone. Just keep an open mind about what you like and what they have to offer. It has a very nice patio but the inside is not as flashy as Ft. Collins / O'Dells / New Belgium, so you might not like this place as much if you are there for the ambiance instead of the beer. Still, their beer is on point-- very tasty stuff, and I've now gone back here about 4 times and been surprised by one of their specialty beers every time. read more

This is a great spot if you're into Saison's! If you order a taster tray, be sure you plan to stay for a while...Their tasters are just about the equivalent of 2.5 beers!
