Good vibe, beer is tasty but nothing really stands out for me. I keep coming back so hopefully I'll find a favorite!

I have only been here once, but they definitely could earn their way to 5 stars after a couple more visits. I have to admit, I don't love Belgian style beers, but I really enjoyed everything I tried here. They have a good sampler option - enough in a taster to get a feel for the beer, but not so much that you can't try everything. We came on a Saturday afternoon and it was packed. Friendly people with a small city vibe just like almost every place in Ft Collins. Slightly older crowd than the college-student-filled bars in old town which was refreshing to an old fogie like myself. Will definitely come back when I'm out and about in Ft Collins again, it is sort of out of the way but worth the little drive. read more

Truthfully this was was my favorite beer tasting room in Colorado.I do like Belgian style beer and they have it and it's excellent.I liked their Quadruppel( possibly more than La Trappe) quite a bit.They also had a beer that reminded me of Duvel and another of Rodenbach.One thing I noticed in Colorado , here and elsewhere, is an interesting tendency to do all kinds of variations on the Saison style. If you want to try some beer that is a bit different with character, this is your place.Bar tender seemed knowledgeable, pleasant and responsive to intelligent inquiry. read more

Funkwerks is really a neat place! Don't let the outside fool you, it is a really intimate, cozy place. Their beers are unique for the area and are fantastic (Dark Prophet is AMAZING!), and the atmosphere is very laid back. Unlike some tasting rooms in the area, I think you'd have to try pretty hard to feel out of place here. Be aware that their sampler flight consists of very generously poured 8-10% abv beers (that taste like they are 5%) in tulip glasses. Very cool, but easy to get looped before you know it is happening. highly recommend, will be back! read more

Disclaimer: I'm not a huge fan of Belgian beers. Perhaps the build up was a bit too high, great reviews from everyone. Arrived at what looked like a day care center, turns out it is... sort of a place to play for children over 21, quirky and fun, and creative. The exterior left us to assume the staff would have the same fun, quirky, creative demeanor, but you know what they say when you assume... Most important, the beer, all really well designed, well thought out start to finish. Execution was solid, sample servings in tasting flight were more than generous. Nelson Sauvin hops used in one style threw my palette for a loop. Personally not used to these New Zealand hops but extra credit for trying, I'm sure it is the perfect beer for someone, just not me. Extremely clean interior which made me feel super confident in their sanitation when they brew (extra credit!). Design simple and straight forward, making it clear the creativity and attention is all on the beer, exactly how it should be! Unfortunately the service kind of ruined the experience. Apathetic is probably the word that comes to mind first. Pretty straight forward order taker, almost went out of their way to ignore us after everything poured. A staffer sat at the bar on her laptop where she almost seemed to go out of her way to pretend we weren't there. I get it, you're working, but you can't even smile and say hello? If you need privacy, we can see there's an office, maybe you should work there if you have no desire to interact with your guests. As for the bartender, he poured the beer and then managed to preoccupy himself tinkering with the register, looking out the window, going to the restroom and then finally just leaving us alone in the tasting room (laptop was already gone at that point). Seriously, just walked out and didn't come back. No, "Can I get you anything else?" No, "Thanks for coming in." No, "Have a nice day!" Wow, do you even want my business? It's a shame that such crummy service affected my review. So much time and care was put into the beers, (I mean really well thought out), it's sad that the staff made me feel like they were serving up these beautifully crafted selections on a garbage can lid with their apathy. read more

The beer here never disappoints! Many microbreweries in FC, but this is one we always make sure to visit. No kitchen, but that just means you can bring in your own food. Fun place. Smallish inside. ~10 seats at the bar, half dozen tables. No real food... just snacks. Seemingly ever changing tap list with lots of one-offs. Samplers available. Beer comes in a variety of sizes. Bottles and merch to go. They stopped growlers May 1st. The patio/picnic tables outside offer a chill and relaxed setting to enjoy some of FC's finest offerings. Okay, I have to start by saying that I'm not a saison fan. I've heard that as far as saisons go, these guys have it down. I will tell you, however, that their Dark Prophet is pretty darn great and the tasting room is worth visiting. Happy tasting! read more

Best brewery in Fort Collins! A little out of the way but totally worth it. Beer is MUCH better than O'Dell and new Belgium!!!! If you want to take some of their beer home, however, save your money. Funkwerks is a mandatory stop in Fort Collins. The brewery is right down the street from FCB and Odell and not far off from the other breweries in the city. It's a small place and there's no tour. However, the beers are delightful and every time I've gone I've managed to end up in the brew house. Last time I was hanging out with a couple of the brewers at the end of their shifts. I haven't been to many places with a tour where they let you wander in the back and touch stuff. The service doesn't kiss your ass but the employees are really friendly, especially if you will talk beer with them. Funkwerks specializes in Belgian beers. They consider themselves a saison brewer first but a lot of their beers are not saisons. However, they are delicious. They aren't crazy Belgian beers/saisons that appeal to the tastes of douchey beer snobs but they are well balanced and flavorful. There is a nice mixture of flavors across the beers on tap/in bottles. It isn't just your typical noble hopped-saison, BGSA, etc. They also do specialty kegs of their beers with different hops and/or spices that can only be found at the taproom or the rare event. The only drawback of Funkwerks is that they brew small batches so it's impossible to find their beers outside of CO. That makes me sad. read more

One of the best breweries in town. They have done an amazing job creating a wide variety of beers from a single style, the saison. Great atmosphere, usually a little less busy as it's a little off the main drag. The staff is always very friendly. Indoor space is kind of small, so best for a nice weather day when you can spread out on their patio. An A+ for sure! read more

I have visited almost every brewery in the area. Funkwerks does deliver a decent beer. Other breweries such as O'Dell and New Belgium in the area deliver a more superior product. The atmosphere is a bit lacking at Funkwerks compared to the others. I attribute most of this to it being a fairly new brewery. read more

I enjoyed my visit. I mean, it's good beer. But they are wayyyyy overpriced. Funkwerks, get over yourselves, your beer is not worthy of 14 bucks for a four pack, and then you give the customers the royal job with your 11.2 oz bottles. My wife and I love this place. Great Saison style beer and relaxed environment. There isn't much seating space. The only problem we have isn't really the brewery's problem...which is the number of small children that customers bring in. Breweries are not a place for children. People...LEAVE YOUR KIDS AT HOME and allow adults to enjoy some places to ourselves without screaming kids wondering around. read more

I don't typically care for sour beers. Ever. Though I really love beer. So when we tried it a couple years ago I totally wrote off Funkwerks. Today, I decided to try again. I asked Tasha what she would recommend and she mixed together some beautiful raspberry concoction (Razzle Dazzle: raspberry provincial and fruition) that makes me so excited to go back! The taproom is great, but the outdoor patio makes for a perfect Fort Collins summer afternoon. We enjoyed it and will definitely be back!! read more

We had one of the best nights here! After a disappointing trip to Odell, we decided to check this place out. It had rained so the band had moved to the barrel room. The band (The Dollhouse Theives) was AMAZING! So fun, interactive and even played our kids's favorite Pink Floyd song on the fly. The service was beyond amazing and the sampler was generous and reasonably priced (maybe even on the inexpensive side)... and of course, the beer was excellent. I'd rather have my money than this swill! I bought the MANGO KING & NELSON SUAVIN. OMG... YUK! I don't know what piss tastes like - but after these 2 grossly overpriced failures - all I can say is I'd of rather opted for the 2 - 1/2 gallon bottles of well vodka the $20 was wasted on. My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner in the back barrel room (large enough for ~40 people) and it was absolutely perfect! Funkwerks decorated the tables with a table liner and had beer bottles with flowers as centerpieces. The customer service was absolutely amazing and our out of town friends/families loved the beer selection and atmosphere. We will definitely be back to enjoy their beers and would love to have a future event there as well. read more
