Love the stout and porter selection here. Great location. Sad Panda coffee stout is my personal favorite.

Love love love these brewers. As a stout drinker, there's nowhere else to get consistently amazing stout. You can't go wrong with the Sad Panda on tap, but definitely try whatever else they had. Had an amazing Winter Lights "Neapolitan" Milk Stout (at +9%) with just a hint of strawberry in the finish. And a delish Decaf Breakfast stout, a bit lighter than the Panda. Good people doing good things making great beer! Now we just need to convince them to put more nitro taps in (and maybe a Cask pump). read more

What a fun brewery! We met some friends here for the first time to celebrate a birthday. The tap room was full of people watching a soccer game. The staff could not be friendlier! They were happy to have us there, offered us some chili the soccer folks were eating and set up a table near the brew tanks. The beer was delicious, one of the best pilsners I've had in a long time- had to get some crowlers for the road. We will absolutely be back next time we're in Ft. Collins. read more

The beers are so good here. My new favorite brewery. Staff is friendly as well and we enjoyed our time here. We learned where the name came from, ask the bartender if you a curious. They also brew an Italian pilsner for PizzaVino and you can only get it there. So look good. Stop in do a flight it will delight! read more

On the road again and here is brewery #204 for me. H&B is looking good so far. It's hopping on a Friday evening with a very friendly staff. The two room is good sized and they have a nice patio area also. The first in a flight of six for me was Disfrute, a pineapple ginger lager. Light flavors of pineapple and ginger with this one. This is actually a fairly delicate beer although the taste lingers in a good way. Kestrel Run is a passion fruit Hefeweizen. This one has a strong passion fruit aroma and flavor to it. It's sweet and would be easily described as liquid passion fruit candy. It's not so sweet I couldn't drink a couple of them though. I had to order the Sad Panda coffee stout. I mean...it's got a panda! Definite coffee aroma and flavor but not so much that I felt like I needed to drink it at breakfast. A very good roasty coffee stout. The Flagstone American red ale was picked in honor of SWPFTD. Yes, I know that was a passive voice but I'm not writing a formal report so leave me alone. Flagstone was a decent red but not my favorite beer so far. I think it was just eclipsed by the other three so far. Picnic Rock pale ale is fruity on the nose and moderately hoppy for my palate. This would be an easy drinker for me. Last for me is Haze & Dragon hazy IPA. Also fruity with a bitterness that sneaks up on you at the end. It doesn't bushwhack you, but doesn't seem at all bitter at first and then it gives you a little surprise. Bushwhack: to attack by surprise from a hidden place. That's a good word. I shall endeavor to bring that word into modern Yelp parlance. Anyway, this is another very good beer. Leighanne and Sophia were awesome. Not only were they friendly as staff, but I had nice conversations with a couple of patrons while I was having my flight. Friendly folks all around! Love Horse & Dragon. Sad Panda was the beer that made me realize I like beer. Wonderful notes of coffee in this reliably awesome stout. Admittedly I don't know a ton about beer. Over the past few years, with the help of my more knowledgeable husband, I'm learning. The Fort Collins craft brew scene is not to be missed and Horse & Dragon is well worth the stop. This is a good brewery! I have been to Horse and Dragon about 4-5 times and I have always found something good to drink. The parking situation is a small lot out front and then some street parking, but hasn't ever been a problem. It is tucked away a little bit, so unless you are looking for it, you probably won't know it's there. I wish I could say I get good service here, but that seems to be inconsistent each time I come over for a pint. Sometimes it's great and sometimes I feel like they don't really care if I am there. They do a great job with their stouts, and most local beer drinkers are familiar with Sad Panda. I like Sad Panda, but it seems like it isn't always consistent when I have had it a few different places around Fort Collins, but it has always been good at the brewery. The IPA varieties at H&D are good, but not some of my favorites in the area. I recently had their 5 Cheers stout that is bourbon barrel-aged and a pretty big beer. I loved it! I would definitely get that again. I think H&D does a great job and I will continue to support them, but unfortunately they don't rank in my top spots in the area. read more

This was the first stop on our tour of Fort Collins today (but not my first to review). We walked in and the house was empty (I don't judge as it was early). We ordered a flight of everything as is our MOD and proceeded to enjoy the vibe and soak in the ambiance as the house slowly filled. Let me say this place is exceptional as everything in our flights was something I would drink again and we took plenty home with us. The white Baltic Porter is a HUGE stand out as is the donut porter (my wife DETESTS dark beers and she ordered a pint and we got a growler to go). We will be back. We decided to hit up Horse and Dragon and Funkwerks since they are about a block apart in the same area. H&D was OK to me. I think their main famous beer is the Sad Panda which just isn't my beer style. My dad said it was great. I tried the sour but it wasn't high on my list, but once again I don't think that's their speciality. My husband ordered a Pilsner and said it was good. The vibe inside wasn't as welcoming as other breweries we've visited. Overall, I'd say definitely try them out, it just wasn't my personal favorite. read more

Dog friendly, loved the Cherry Tart beer and the Vanilla caramel, and it was nice that they had games on the tables for people to enjoy. The bartender was super friendly and even offered small samples of the beer as we discussed what to purchase. The Cherry tart was probably my favorite beer that I've had in a long while, not overdone on the sour, perfect balance of the fruit. I had a nice time here! They have a good amount of patio seating that is dog friendly. While they do not have any gluten- free seltzers or beer, they had a few gf kombucha options that were refreshing. Our waitress was so nice, and took care of watering our dogs, too! Due to COVID, Horse and Dragon has processes in place to check people in and ask about symptoms out front. The only bummer is that the place to check in and the place to pay are in the same spot, and things got pretty bottlenecked (we waited 15-20 minutes out front to pay). Just make sure you leave yourself plenty of time if you are headed someplace afterwards, and you are good to go! :) read more

I really enjoyed Horse & Dragon! It's definitely one of the smaller breweries around town and it's pretty hidden, but the atmosphere, service, and beer make it one of the top contenders in my book. The beertender was very sweet and patient with my indecisiveness. I ordered a taster tray and they offer complimentary pretzels as a palette cleanser which I wish more breweries would do - major bonus points scored! Horse & Dragon was our 4th and final stop on our first day in Colorado, and this is another place we could have revisited before the end of our trip. My last visit to Fort Collins was about two or three years ago. Since then some breweries opened which kept Steve and me plenty busy in trying them all out! Horse and Dragon Brewery is one of those...so it's one of the "new" ones to me. What I was very pleased to see is the series of new breweries in town have a great quality to their brews which made the trip very pleasing to the two of us beer snobs and Horse and Dragon maintained that consistency with ease. At this brewery I got the Sad Panda Coffee Stout which was outstanding! It was so delicious! Steve got their Citrus Fiesta Kettle Sour which also was outstanding! The service here was bright and friendly! The atmosphere was cheerful and what was really intriguing about the decor was the pictures on the wall chronicling all of the traveling the owners have went on around the world. It was very fun to see and got the travel bug in me into an even bigger dither than it already was. Horse and Dragon is truly a great addition to the Fort Collins brewing scene and I will indeed come back at the earliest opportunity for another visit! read more

Out of the way? Check. Friendly staff? Check. A list of beers that after initially narrowing down, couldn't pull a winner from? Check. Getting samples of the above-mentioned beers to help me find one? Check. Awesomely colorful *suuuuuuuuper-soft* shirts to buy? Check. Comfy sitting down tables with background music at a volume you can still have conversation at? Check. Their "Sad Panda" Coffee Stout is *exceptional*. A bit sweet, but mostly...coffee. It is not subtle; it tastes like a slightly sweetened espresso in a beer. Truly wonderful. However, my heart was taken by the -- and I know this sounds completely odd -- Scottish Tradesman Coconut Porter. My eyes glazed as a combination of strong ABV and heavenly flavors hit my taste buds. A sample of their website description: "Warm and sweet aromas rise slowly from this hardworking porter with a deep tawny red color and a thin veil of off-white bubbles. Notes of coconut, vanilla, and sweet crystal malts present a complex flavor profile and hold your palate in check with a slight warming sensation. Coconut aromas linger through the finish and remain momentarily sticky on the tongue." I couldn't do that description justice, bit it is well and truly accurate. I think it's tragic that, despite their wide availability at eateries around Denver at Ft Collins, that apparently they do not ship a lot of product to places like Argonaut. If I'd known that I would have brought a growler to fill up on. It's a magical place to sit with a few well-cherished friends and enjoy what the craftspeople here create. I was happy this was my last stop on my 1st brewery tour of Ft. Collins -- definitely bookmarked on my app and in my heart, can't wait to try some more brewed magic here!! read more

This place is a hidden away little gem. Besides brewing a variety of beers (they offer tours of their brewery!), it's a place to sit and chat with friends. There's a deck of cards at each table that gave me a feeling of "sit and stay awhile". They offer a variety of tshirts, sweatshirts and souvenir glasses with their cool logo. Another great Fort Collins brewery! First off the atmosphere is awesome. It feels like the quintessential brewery. The seating is fantastic and unique with the stools, benches and purse hooks! It is designed to be comfortable and welcome discussion amongst friends. The hubs and I both got the sample trays which gave us six samples for $8. Totally reasonable. I really liked about three of the beers. Why I continue to get stouts when I don't love them is beyond me, but that's my issue! Fortunately the hubs and a friend liked the darker brews in my sample tray. When we are back in FoCo I would definitely come back. read more
