I purchased a couch expecting firm cushioning, as that was what I ordered and what was described at the time of sale. Unfortunately, once it was delivered and used, the cushions turned out to be much softer than expected and have already begun to lose their shape. This has impacted both the comfort and support of the couch, and I've had to add wooden boards underneath to make it usable. For a couch at this price point, I was hoping for cushioning that would hold up better over time. Update: 01/26/26 Owner called me and actually came by my house today to reveiw the issue and take the covers in order to replace the cushions! I'm very grateful for their response. Love this place! My wife & I were looking for a sofa with specific specs for the look & size of our apartment as well as comfort. I bought a few pieces a couple of months ago that I like, but the owner was rushing me out before 5 pm when they officially close to go to a friend's daughter's recital. I let it go but didn't think it was good business. I stopped by today and was prepared to buy the pink chair that was outside. Nobody was in the store, but the owner Kania gave me no acknowledgement when I walked in as she continued a personal call with a friend talking where they were going to meet tonight. After about 3 minutes she minutes she put up her hands with an exasperated look like it was her friend's fault for holding her up on the phone. It was then that I walked out. I will not be back. Unbelievably rude experience! I had just picked up my dog from the vet (where I just found out she is catastrophically ill). She was drugged and groggy. There's a little triangle of turf outside this store. Its been there for years and is dirty and worn. The sidewalk was removed to put this in, mind you. So we're walking by and my dog starts to squat. Just as I pulled her away, this red-faced woman comes out screaming at me, "Think! Why can't you people think??" as she's feverishly tapping her head. I said, "I'm sorry, I stopped her." She continues to scream, "its for kids to play on!". I look at the turf--its old, dirty, stained and there's no indication that it actually belongs to the store. "Maybe you need a sign or a little fence because dogs are gonna think thats what its there for. If you're saying "you people" (???) its happened before. She then called me stupid, I should use my brain, get my animal away from her store. Wow. I've bought a couple pillows and a lamp here. I once tried to buy a sofa here once, about 7 years ago. It was so painfully delayed (months), I had to cancel the order. I was gonna review then but decided not to. Its hard to do furniture retail in this day and age. So maybe that's her problem? Get it together lady. Dogs (and cats, raccoons, possums and probably homeless people) are all gonna pee on your little triangle of green plastic on the ground and I would never have let my kids play on that disgusting patch of gross. Certainly wouldn't consider ever shopping here again and I will be sure to tell this story. read more

The couch was a bit more than I wanted to spend but for the quality, service and look, I knew I had to have it! I gave them the dimensions I wanted it, it was made in California and delivered in 3 weeks by the owner- thanks Reg! Reg is amazing! I came in after seeing a posting on Craigslist that Funky Furniture makes reproductions of sofas/etc. from much more expensive, high-end stores. After falling in love with a Design Within Reach (DWR) Neo sectional, I came looking for a way to make it a reality without footing the $4,900 bill. After visiting Funky Furniture and talking it over with Reg, I ordered a Divya sectional, which looks and feels like the DWR Neo, but costs less than half the price. There's a big selection of fabrics to choose from (including some fun and bright colors), and Reg can even customize the size and accents to your liking. After some consideration, I selected Kiwi green and chose brushed metal legs. Unbelievably quick turnaround. I came in on a Saturday to place the order; Reg put the order in on Monday, I left town for work for a week and half, and the order arrived on a Friday -- exactly 10 days later! With Reg's help, my BF and I loaded it into our cars and took it home. Super easy to unpackage and set up! Even when we were carrying it to our townhome, two people commented on how "beautiful" the sectional looked, even when it was still wrapped in plastic and styrofoam! Reg was even able to get feather and down wrapped cushions for my sectional, which makes a HUGE difference in comfort. When you throw those babies on, a very modern sectional with clean lines suddenly becomes something to sink into when you get home. The prices are reasonable and the selection is decent. I was really excited about their style, but don't expect to get your furniture within 4-6 weeks unless you're buying a floor model. We took home a floor model sofa and ordered a love seat and chair which were both delivered 8 weeks later. And when we finally got them, the legs were a different color and taller than the ones on the matching sofa we bought. It took 4 months and several follow up calls to get new matching legs that in the end still don't really match. The color is too dark and one set of the legs are still too tall. They did fix one of the cushions for us that lost a button... which was nice, but still disappointing since we only had the sofa for about 6 months. Under normal wear and tear conditions you wouldn't think you should have to have it repaired so soon. Overall, I guess you get what you pay for. I say don't expect more than you would from Ikea. read more

I didn't even have to pull my "So, I'm kind of a ninja so if you do us wrong I'll come after you" line. She probably could see that I was a ninja without having to tell her, since she's a smart lady and all. After bouncing around from one couch to another, we finally decided on one that was perfect. Not only was it quite lovely, and quite comfy, but it was quite the great price. The beau bought it right on the spot, and it was as easy as can be. I absolutely love this place! I was really excited, and quite honestly obsessed with finding a good sofa set for my apartment. Huge fan of Funky Furniture! I saw this awesome sectional at Design Within Reach but did not want to pay the $4,900 they were asking. Based on other reviews I visited Funky Furniture and Reg told me he could build me an exact replica of the one I saw at DWR. It cost me HALF and he was even able to make it a few inches shorter so it fits my living room perfectly! And to top it off was the delivery to my home; Reg told me it would arrive within three weeks, exactly at 6pm on Tuesday, which it did! I bought my sofa from them about 18 months ago and I still get so happy every time I walk into my apartment and see it -- seriously. Being able to customize it down to the inch was incredibly useful for my tiny studio, so I got something that fits the space perfectly. I didn't know exactly what I wanted going in, but knew about my size constraints, and the staff was SO helpful in guiding me through the styles and options. The price is totally reasonable for a couch (which in general are so much more money that I'd ever expected, unless you do the bland, uncomfortable generic Ikea), and felt like a total bargain when I saw the quality, built-to-my-exact-specifications sofa I ended up with. The one small problem I'll mention is that it took a few weeks longer than they had initially said (some issue with the fabric I had requested, I think), so if you're in a time crunch, keep that in mind. But since I was simply looking to add to my space, 18 months later those few weeks don't matter (so no stars off). read more

Great customer service and product! I went to Funky Furniture on a dreary, Sat in January after having visited once, about a year before. Funky Furniture stuck in my mind all that time because they offer completely custom couches. Not just the upholstery and leg finish, but truly customized including the height, depth, firmness for the seat and the back, finishes such as piping, buttons etc. I don't have crazy tastes, but I needed a couch that would fit my space and not clash with my existing pieces. I had been looking for something that I liked since I moved into my place a couple years prior and still hadn't found the right piece. My second visit was just as pleasant as my first, and I decided to bite the bullet on a couch order on the spot. Jason was very patient with me, despite also waiting on other customers in the shop at the same time. Once I made my choices, placing the order was quick and painless. I was there when they were offering free delivery, which made my purchase cost extra reasonable. When my couch was ready for delivery, scheduling around my availability was easy (even when I changed times at the last minute)! I love my couch! It is extremely comfortable and looks great. Quality-wise, it lacks the heft, and I suspect some of the durability, of furniture from higher-end manufacturers such as Flexsteel or Ethan Allan, but it also didn't come with the hefty price tag! I am extremely happy with my couch. It is beautifully finished, and serves my purposes better than similarly priced furniture from major chains. The only complaint I have about Funky Furniture is that they use Lugg for delivery. The Lugg guys were excellent! BUT, Lugg doesn't have insurance, and I live in a large condo building that requires a COI (certificate of insurance) to schedule deliveries. Not scheduling the delivery can result in a fine for the guilty resident. Luckily I live very close to the street, on the first floor, and the couch was light. They parked on the street, and then just carried the couch to my place so I didn't have to schedule to use the loading zone. I am not sure what I would have done if I had lived in a different part of the building. My message to the owners - please, please, please use a delivery company with a COI. read more

Now that I am finally buying big-girl furniture and no longer have to settle for used IKEA on Craigslist, I was really excited to find well-designed, attractive, edgy furniture that I could potentially afford. Eat your heart out, DWR! While the inventory isn't vast and varied, it's all really nice stuff: Not a single thing was ugly, out-of-place, or impractical-- I was very impressed by the ingenuity of some of the tables that had secret storage spaces, cool ways of extending, and other innovative functions. I didn't see anything that was more than $800 (big couch), but I think it's safe to say that for a few hundred bucks, you can find a great dining set, coffee table, armoire, bookshelf, bar, or sideboard here for sure. I'd scoured everything online, West Elm, CB, Pottery Harm, been there done that with Ikea, and went to Room and Board where I fell in love with sofas but still wanted to avoid spending as much $$$$. I did one last google and came across Funky Furniture. I beelined to the store with an hour before they closed on a Sunday, walked in saw an amazing sofa (Neptune). It was a see like buy moment. Reg the owner is great. Very relaxed. I walked in, he asked if I needed any help and just let me browse. Easy enough because their pieces sell themselves. The store has a great selection of furniture, the kind of place where you take another look and you see something else you want to buy. I was developing a mental wish list. The sofa was in stock and Reg was able to deliver the sofa very quickly, it was an incredible service experience. Communication from Reg was excellent, we agreed on a time for delivery and they arrived on the dot. They even helped put the legs on the sofa and made sure everything looked fine. Prices are great, and a note, there are pieces in the store, like my sofa that are built by local sources. Funky Furniture = Highly Recommended. Excellent experience. Addendum: I have a guest visiting and I bought the Neptune couch because it looked like a great option for someone to crash on.
