There should not ever ever be food being served during show allowed, the dumbest idea ever. Trying to watch the show and constantly have waitresses walking back n forth with food Trying to find tables in the dark, talking and very very distracting. I have been to orher venues for conedy shows and you go up and get drinks at bar no food, much more enjoyable show. Then when its time to pay bill everyone has to pull their phone out with flashlight to see total, its the dumbest thing ever. While I loved the comedy and entertainment and used to be a fan of the dining experience the food and service now had issues: - Qr code Menu given, scanned, menu says nachos are 13.99, add 3.00 for chicken, when bill received charged 22.50 for them. - minimum gratuity no matter party size. - a charge for fountain water... - Nachos were very light on aforementioned chicken - No longer allowed to pay for and keep souvenir glasses. Most of the good things I have to say about this establishment owe to it simply being a comedy club. They often have comics and performers that I am excited to see, and I enjoy their shows. The venue itself leaves much to be desired. The servers were polite, but service tended to be slow and inconsistent. The food was decent, but the prices were outrageous. A burger was $17, and you had the option to add fries for an extra $8. There also were no free refills on soft drinks. The alcoholic drinks were decent, but nothing too exciting. read more

Got free tickets for a show so 2 of us went. Why are the tickets free? Because they can't people to show up, obvious. So, we got shown to our seats. Stage is behind us so we can't see the show. If you turn the chair around nobody could pull out a chair at the next table. We are looking at a wall which is about 6 feet away. Horrible. I saw a new sign on the way in, small sign but it said there is a 2 item minimum purchase. Also, there is a mandatory 18% gratuity even if the service is bad and you can't watch the show. So, how much are 2 free tickets? Well, food is ~$15 - $18 and their drinks are ~$15. So, free tickets for 2 are approximately $15+$18 = $33 times 2 people = $66 plus gratuity of $12 plus $6 for good old New York State. Total for a free night on the town is $84. This is for a show nobody wanted to go to in the first place. This would mean they accept a drink as one of the 2 items you are forced to get. All right, each time we've gone we've had five people with us. Both experiences were absolutely different. In 2023, The first time we went. We had a 4 people at a table with and two person table added for the extra. Was comfortable. The waitress was absolutely wonderful. We were probably about 1/3 of the way from the stage. Drinks were extremely weak!!!!! Comedian was funny! In 2024, 2nd time we went, it was horrible!!! Again 5 people. We seen Chris Rock. They started on time. Waitress did not show up until halfway through the show. she seemed like she was overwhelmed when she came. I didn't give her a hard time because of it. Sad another waitress had asked if we were served yet. Thankful that someone was paying attention to us... We were uncomfortably against the back wall in the back. They ended up putting people at our table that we did not know, and they were so disgusting, smelt horrible, rude, loud and obnoxious. My chair was broken. I ordered a chicken quesadilla, it was good... and french fries which it had pepper on... who put pepper on french fries!?!? Which was weird. I did not ask for that. Our table had 3 Long Island iced teas, and they're very weak. 2 Beers. Apparently they were fine but Long Island Ice-Tea's were incredibly week.. This place had the rudest service I've ever seen in my entire life. I was in shock. We came right as show was starting. No greeting. All I hear is the lady tell her coworker something along the lines "looks like they can't afford a tip". I wasn't positive she was talking to me so I dismissed the comment. Next we go buy our 2 drinks for like 20 which is the norm. The lady was a mute as she made them, no smile no words except a total. Very odd mannerisms. After 80$ tickets we are escorted (again no smiles or words) to a table directly behind a beam. Since the show had started and there were 5 empty tables we asked to move. (4 of these empty tables remained empty all night ) With an attitude he responds assigned seating (no other words just rude repetition) At that point my boyfriend declared we will be moving to the empty tables as we didn't pay 80 for one of us to look behind a pole The man spoke to me and I simply said don't talk to me please. He said what? I repeated myself. He then threatened to kick us out if I had another "outburst" mind you I said all this at normal voice as a show was going on already and I wasn't intending to interrupt or be rude to the other customers. The gentleman continued to watch and glare at me during the show . I felt very uncomfortable. I asked for his name by two employees but to no avail. I asked him amd he refused, and directed me to the rude bartender who was the manager I guess. The whole place is run by very scummy acting people. I couldn't believe I paid 80 to be glared at . That being said I still haven't heard back from them and I prob won't. Too bad I would have loved to keep going there as this was my first time. Unfortunately it will be my last. The Funny Bone Comedy Club and Restaurant opened its 19th location in Destiny USA, and it is cutting it up with touring comics Thursday through Sunday nights, plus a wild-card night -- open-mic night, for example -- on Wednesdays. The 360-seat comedy club is on the third level of the expansion of the Syracuse mall. That's the region of Destiny that is pumping up the entertainment options, including Pole Position Raceway and OptiGolf. I've been here a couple times for shows I wanted to see and a couple shows I was offered free tickets for. The space itself inside is very nice. Bigger than you expect it to be, nice little stage, plenty of tables and seats. I've enjoyed the shows I've seen, from Jake the Snake to Josh Sneed, most recently. Prices are usually pretty fair on tickets, and if you fill out a comment card, you can win free tickets, as I did. The food is alright, nothing great. Some people think the foods a little pricey, but I think it's pretty comparable to most restaurants. Servers are always very kind and courteous. I find it to be a good value for nice little date night out, and I'll definitely check out some future shows. read more

I got an invitation to come to a show at funny bone with a friend who received some free tickets to a show, something I have heard from other folks that patron this establishment pretty frequently tells me happens a lot. And I wondered how they could work that seeing funny bone from the outside in the mall its a nice looking bar area and such but it didn't look like it was all that large. But much like a TARDIS, this place is way bigger on the inside than I would have expected and can probably seat close to 200 people in a large showroom, the stage isn't all that large compared to a lot of other places I have seen stand up and the tables are at a 90 degree angle to the stage which is a bit awkward to always look at a sideways glance at the stage. Naomi and I decided we were going to get some appetizers as neither one of us were superbly hungry and since it was a free night out we were trying to avoid spending a ton of money. Something that apparently isn't an easy task here, I tend to drink a soda when I'm out and the only way you can get free refills here is if you buy one of their odd half pint glasses, which makes a soda 7$ to get free refills. I got an order of potato skins with pulled pork on top which wasn't the best I had ever had but not terrible either and she got some fried pickles which for some odd reason came with honey mustard, a condiment I have never tried with pickles which just made the whole thing weird All in all, it was a fun night out the comedians were entertaining and this place does book some decent talent from the advertisements I see around town and hear on the radio. The free tickets definitely hook people into the door and for a "free" night out I ended up spending 30$ on a few apps and drinks. Which in my opinion is a bit pricey. But if you want a unique thing to do on a night out I wouldn't be remiss to recommend this to someone, just make sure you bring your wallet. read more

I had a very difficult time figuring out how my review for Funny Bone was going to be. It's a comedy club, not a restaurant, and this is where the review gets fuzzy. The club itself is pretty cool. There are a mix of tables throughout for various group sizes and they are arranged perpendicularly to the stage. This makes for a bit of an awkward viewing angle but is conducive to serving people during the show. We started with the chip trio (and were charged for refills - really??) and also had the pretzel sticks. Both appetizers were good and enjoyed by our group. When our food arrived, it was mostly lukewarm and most of it was overcooked. This was disappointing considering the food is priced at a premium and Destiny has plenty of other choices nearby. My suggestion - eat before the show - you may not save a ton of money but you'll have a happy stomach. Service was good but not great. Drinks are typically overpriced. I will not comment on the acts we saw that night - for people to give the club a bad review based on who they saw seems a bit silly - this is super subjective and unless the whole audience hates a performer, someone went home entertained that night. From the box office to the bar and from the bouncers to the waitstaff, my first experience at Funny Bone was a positive one! I've never been to a comedy club in general, so I didn't know what to expect. This national chain certainly knows how to put on more than just a good show. We started at the bar before entering the actual club. Drinks are pricey but strong; you can chose to have your drink served in a souvenir glass for $10. After being served by semi-efficient, not overly personable bartenders, our group of ten were escorted into the showroom. Our host accommodated our large group by seating us comfortably at adjacent tables. We were greeted immediately by a friendly server who took orders for more drinks and the Dip Trio, which consists of spinach artichoke, black bean and queso dips, served with tortilla chips. The appetizer turned out to be mediocre and didn't come with enough chips (we were charged for a refill - bummer). The show began with two opening acts; the first was local and the other from out of state. Both were entertaining and did well warming up the crowd. Loni Love was the main attraction; she was fantastic! Kudos to Funny Bone for bringing her to Syracuse. All the while the show was taking place, our server was very attentive. I really enjoy going to see a comedy show at the Funny Bone. It's not too big or too small. There really are no bad seats in the place so you can always see and hear the performers. The opening acts have been great and I love the great national acts they are able to bring in to the Syracuse area. It's not too expensive and a fun date night or night out with friends. My only complaint is seating. The tables and chairs are tightly placed -- you often feel squeezed in - and if you are a party of two, you will get seated with other people you don't know. I understand why they do this but don't love it, but it doesn't hold me back from going to a show. read more

I WANT to give the Funny Bone a better review, namely because it provides the public with a great source of entertainment that we don't currently have in this area. The comics are usually great entertainers and I enjoy that part of my experience there whenever I go. I even pay full price to see notable comics because I do want to continue to support the business (rather than wait for them to offer "free" tickets in order to fill the spot). BUT I have a grievance (beyond the crappy food and watered-down, overpriced drinks). The "electronic delivery fee" that they charge even when you pick up the tickets in person. That's a misnomer at best and misleading, at worst. When talking with the staff about this fee, which varies depending on the caliber of comic you're going to see, they become very defensive. If I pick up the tickets in person, I should not be charged an electronic delivery fee. At all. Period. If it's some other service fee, then call it that and advertise it as such up front before someone is attempting to check out, only to find that the cost of their transaction has gone up almost 15%. read more

Great place. Security makes it so everyone can enjoy yourself. Do not take out your cellphone to record; you will be escorted out which happenef twice as we were there for Steve-O. The food was great but over priced as well as the drinks. However the staff was very helpful in our selection and always made sure we had refills without having to ask. I got to catch Jo Koy here a couple of weeks ago. Despite arriving pretty close to the show time, we got great seats. Since it is a restaurant, you might end up sharing a table with strangers during the show. This is not a romantic first date place! The food/drinks here are definitely overpriced but all the prices are stated on the menu (even the $4 soda). My friend and I split the 1 lb of wings + fries meal. We got around 6 chicken wings total (I don't think that's anywhere close to a lb) and abundant french fries. We tried the blueberry habanero and BBQ sauces. Both were primarily sweet. I am quite certain no habaneros were hurt in the making of the blueberry habanero sauce. The wings were not fried well but given how packed this show was, I wasn't really upset about it. The servers came around often and were friendly. There didn't seem to be a table minimum which is unusual for comedy clubs. I applaud the staff for quickly removing the drunk hecklers next to my table without much of a commotion. Also, they brought out the checks in a timely manner and cleared everyone out in an efficient way without making people feel too rushed. I would recommend eating elsewhere but definitely coming here to catch a show. Overall, a great, somewhat intimate place to check out your favourite comedian. read more

I've been here three times now, with groups ranging from just two up to nine. I will agree with pretty much every other review and say that the food is overpriced and not that great. I haven't had anything awful, but nothing awesome either. The drinks are decent (but also overpriced) and have had plenty of alcohol in my experience. The service during my visits has always been pretty good. The best part - and why the Funny Bone is named the 'Funny Bone' and not the 'Best Food in Syracuse' - is the comics. Each show I've seen has three comics - a warm-up comedian who also hosts and introduces and is typically pretty nervous and amateur, a second warm-up comedian who is more comfortable, and the headliner. I've always walked away with a smile on my face. The amount they involve the audience depends on the comic, and it's always great when they razz someone (as long as it's not me)! I haven't been there for any big-name acts, but I would imagine that would be great given the relatively small size of the venue. So all in all - go for the comedians and not the the food. Eat somewhere else ahead of time. If you can get a Groupon, do that - much cheaper and worth it (but not usable for the bigger comics). It's a nice night out for a group of friends or coworkers, and with the rest of Destiny right there, you can easily get great food and drinks without going far. read more

The service was ok. The food was terrible. An extremely small portion of Spinach dip that was cold when it came originally came out and watery when it came back after I sent it back. Calling it bland would be an understatement Unfortunately for us, it was the best part of the meal. My girlfriend had the Tuscan penne which consisted of overcooked boxed penne pasta, and some sun dried tomatoes. No herbs, no salt, no pepper, no butter, and no oil. I can't believe I paid $13 for boiled pasta... My burger was overcooked, covered in disgusting bleu cheese that tasted like nothing, and bacon that tasted like artificial smoke. They even screwed up the fries, they were cold and limp. I was going to give them two stars because the service was ok but I just can't. The food was disgusting. Last night we went to the 7:30pm Ali Siddiq show. The comedians were subpar. Honestly our favorite of the night was the host. There were some jokes from both performers that were pushing it too far, inappropriate, or just not funny. There were NOT any vegan options or alternatives on the menu. We didn't come for the food and assumed it would be like that anyway, but incase anyone's wondering... It would be nice, though, if they did add some options. Even some of their comedians are vegan (Steve-O) Our waiter Simon took our drink order right away and when we made it clear we didn't want any straws in our drink He said no problem. Shortly after someone else brought out our drinks and there were straws in it. I know it might sound foolish, but we live in a time where plastics, specifically straws, are really causing harm to our environment and we don't want to contribute it. After that we stopped ordering drinks. The drink I did have came in a souvenir glass. When it was getting later into the show our waiter took my glass and never came back with it. I walked out of there without the glass I paid for. Yes, I could have asked for it, but it was so crowded and I was so done with everything that it wasn't worth it. When I got home my friend and I looked at the bill and realized we overpaid. My friend got a single shot of whiskey, but it turns out we paid 11.75 for a double. I clearly heard him say he didn't want the double when the waiter asked him. I really should have looked at the receipt, but when it's dark, your distracted by a comedy show, and you see there's two items on your list that are around the expected price, it's easy to miss the fact they charged you double for your friends drink. Went to celebrate an anniversary, upon arrival into showroom we were told the fryers were broken, half the menu options were unavailable. The show started late, and the comedian before the main act was better than the featured one. You're supposed to laugh, but don't laugh to hard and don't interact with the comedian because you'll be scolded by security. We were singled out and scolded, despite the entire front end of the showroom interacting with the comedian as well, and it made the rest of the show miserable. Ended up walking out early, and when asked why we complained to management who just brushed it off and didn't even apologize. Will never return. read more

Then got turned away because the tickets I had purchased online and were emailed to me were not acceptable. Sure you may pay $10 as a service fee to buy your tickets online, but don't be fooled. You must still go to the box office and have them print a receipt for you. Nothing that they will scan to approve your purchase, literally just a receipt with some highlighter on it. Personally I think this is absurd. There is a QR code on the email that can be scanned. While I was away at the box office, my boyfriend who was patiently waiting noticed that the person checking tickets let in some of his buddies who had tickets on their phones without a problem. We ended up coming to Funny Bone because the Glow Golf in the mall failed us and would not accept our Groupon because the app could not connect due to internet. It was our Ladies night with a friend from out of town and SU was playing so everywhere was packed. We saw Funny Bones bar was empty because there was a show going on. Perfect for us! We sat down and ordered drinks from an awesome blonde chick which we forgot to get her name! We told her about what happened and she later came back and offered to let us go to the next show on the house! We couldn't stay for it, but it made our night how sweet she was! Thank you! This was a bigger venue than I had expected. I found the layout of the tables not facing the stage to be awkward and uncomfortable especially if you were trying to eat like I was. The prices on everything was high but I expected that coming in. We just got appetizers: fried pickles and potato skins. They were both serviceable. My only real issue with the food was a very mustardy honey mustard being served with the fried pickles over a ranch based sauce. read more

I won tickets to the chicks are funny on a Wednesday night. The comedy was alright, the mc was incredibly loud. Everyone in our groups ears were ringing. The drinks are way overpriced. ($7.00 for a soda that includes refills or $4.50 for a soda without refills) we got the spinach dip, which tasted like basic spinach and nothing else. Also they automatically include gratuity in the bill. I'm normally a great tipper, but the server only came to the table to take the order, and drop the check. The Good: 1) They sometimes manage to pull great comedians to the Syracuse area who might otherwise give CNY a pass. 2) The venue itself appears clean and well-maintained The Bad: 1) The pricing is weird. They charge exactly the same amount for online purchase, telephone purchase, and in-person purchase. This doesn't make sense because the online purchase option tells you, for example, that the tickets are $15 each, and there's a $6 "Electronic Delivery Fee." Then why am I still charged that fee when I just walk up to the box office? If you're charging the fee regardless, why not just roll that cost into the tickets and save everyone the hassle? 2) The waitstaff quality is intermittent. The first time we went, we had a not-so-great server - he wasn't friendly and didn't check in with us. The second time we went, our server seemed really nice and checked in as much as he could based on the huge number of tables he seemed to be serving. It must be a crazy job, so I feel bad for them, but that is a management problem for not hiring enough staff, not a waitstaff problem. 3) The other staff quality seemed intermittent as well. Few of the other staff (box office, hosts, bouncers, etc.) seem all that friendly or helpful. Again, this might be due to being harried from overwork, but it still reflects poorly on the business. 4) Food quality and pricing is not that great. The first time we went, the food wasn't very good, but the second time it was a bit better. Stick with the things which are hard to mess up (i.e. - pre-made foods that you just heat up) if you want to be more satisfied with the food. Prices are high, but probably about what you'd pay at most captive-audience places: $3 for soda (or $7 for free-refills all night, plus a souvenir glass ... which I would avoid, since the shows are only about 1.5 hours long, and unless your waiter happens to come by often enough for you to order 3+ sodas, you're better off just ordering a la carte), $6 for a basket of fries, $9 for potato skins or mozzarella sticks, etc. Not fun, but run-of-the-mill. 5) The worst thing about this club that I've seen is the way they deal with problems. We attended the Nick Vatterott show on 10/3/14 and we were seated near two guys who were using their phones and talking throughout the early part of the show. They were clearly drunk - one of them couldn't even walk straight when he left to go to the bathroom - but continued to be served alcohol. Several waitstaff walked right by, and some bouncers even stood nearby, and didn't do anything about it. Finally, a man at a nearby table told the guys to shut up and they all collectively started posturing with shouts of, "you got a problem with me?!" Thankfully, bouncers stepped in at this point and pulled the two drunk guys out of the showroom, and also pulled out the man who had yelled at them. I was glad, thinking that it had all been taken care of, but after a few minutes all three of them came back inside and sat down at their respective tables! Not surprisingly, the two drunk guys started talking again. This time, though, the man who yelled at them before went and got a bouncer and the two drunk guys were finally ejected from the show. I can't believe that the club owners let the drunk dudes back into the showroom after they'd been disruptive and almost caused a fight. Management is extremely lucky that the man went and got a bouncer the second time instead of jumping the drunk guys; that's a huge potential liability they opened themselves up to. Legal issues aside, though, it also seems better for public relations with everyone else around the disruptive patrons to just kick them out. As it was, the incident kind of ruined the show for me, when I'd been really looking forward to it. Now I'll think twice about going back to the Funny Bone because I don't know what kind of experience I'll have there, and whether problem patrons will be dealt with appropriately. I'm sure the people around us felt the same way, and so, in bungling this one incident, management has endangered their bottom line way more than if they had just thrown the guys out immediately and absorbed whatever cost there was associated with that (e.g. - if the dudes getting kicked out demanded their money back, or if they kicked them out before they paid their tab, etc.) In the end, the Funny Bone is the only purely comedy venue in Syracuse. If you want a good experience, you're probably better off going to one of the casinos, or the Helium club in Buffalo. But if someone you like is coming only to the Funny Bone, you may need to roll the dice and take your chances. read more

Server said after last nights shake they are well prepared tonight. I said ok and my table agreed to place an order. Well mistake. Then we were told they had two people walk out the other night and two not show up I. All this they knew before hand. Our meal was comped. But the food was horrible. Then we were still waiting for our food and our server never brought it back and we had to ask someone what was going on. Several tables had and issue and amazingly enough people that entered in after us was served food. Might go back for just a show and drinks and eat at the other better restaurants that were located in the mall. At least our meal came and was worth it after the show read more

The comedians are always great! We just got out of the Steve Byrne show which we are huge fans of to begin with! The reason why I cannot give it a 5/5 is due to the greatly inflated prices for the food and drink!! I second the other reviews that tell you to eat before or after the show- def follow that advice! All in all though you can't go wrong with the entertainment! It's comedy! It's hilarious! We will definitely go back for another show but will go after dinner. read more

I went once and enjoyed the show plenty. While at the show I was given a voucher for two free admissions to a show with reservations. Today I just called for reservations and the automated answering machine hung up on me four times, I could barely get through the menu. Terrible phone system! Upgrade! read more

The Funny Bone never disappoints! I have been there a half dozen times or so and the talent is great. I have never gone there and not left without my face hurting from laughing too much. There are other "comedy clubs" in Syracuse and I have been disspointed because they tend to have local comedy that delivers a lackluster performance, but the Funny Bone is the real deal. They have people you have actually hear of and even the amateur nights are hysterical! The orange creamsicle drink is super delicious. I can't say the same for the service or prices but if you want a good laugh and want to see some hilarious comedy the Funny Bone is the place to go! read more

I enjoyed the comedy show, however I was surprised when the dinner charge went through to my bank account a couple of days later. A $54 dollar so-so meal (pre-tax) turned out to be $78. The added charge was 18% gratuity on the meal + tax (I happened to notice in the dark theatre that 18% was already added to the tab). So I wrote in $68. The total on the receipt is in a much larger font and in bold so in the dark that's pretty much all you can see. I never authorized the additonal $10. I'm sure this comment will be filtered out like the rest of the negative comments but just beware of the funny business going on a funny bone. Won't be going back. read more

The comedy part of Funny Bones is, well, funny. It's entertaining enough. I am reviewing the horrible, horrendous food. Just eat prior to going to the show. First time we went, we had a chicken sandwich and the Buffalo chicken tender basket. Both were standard and unremarkable. The fries were decent. However, the second time was an outright disaster, making me believe we just got lucky the first time. The chicken tender basket was outright terrible. Chicken had no taste at all. Cmon, how hard are chicken tenders? Even fast food joints get these right. The breading tasted like flour. The fries appeared to be the crumbs from the bottom of a bag. All an inch long or smaller, overseasoned, and cold. Clearly our food sat there for some time prior to being brought out. The runner accidentally spilled some BBQ sauce (which is sickly sweet) onto my boyfriend's salad. He immediately apologized and went to "get another salad" without our needing to ask. When he brought it back, it was quite evident all that he did was remove the lettuce with sauce on it. $8 for a pathetic salad which was romaine, 4 slices of cuke, a few tiny pieces of tomato, and zero of the croutons in the description. I added some overpriced, dry, tasteless shrimp to mine, and it did nothing to help that sad little salad. Mozz sticks were cold as well. Straws on our drinks were sticky (um, do I even wanna know?? We were both drinking water) And that 18% surcharge? It ruffles my feathers. This place goes out of its way to nickel and dime its customers to death. I typically tip 20% or more--way to rob your servers of that opportunity. After that disappointing meal and lackluster service (I'll agree with other reviewers--not enough servers), I was not about to tip any more. I think they add that 18% because they know for a fact the service will suck, because their staff is run ragged. I will say that all of the staff I encountered prior to being seated were super friendly and welcoming. Server was a nice dude, just not attentive at all. The runner brought the food, and we didn't see our server again until he was delivering our ridiculously huge check. To reiterate: eat dinner somewhere else first. And get there early to avoid being seated next to complete strangers. Can we say awkward? Also--the "free" passes they hand you on the way out? NOT free. They charge you anyway. $3 surcharge per person. read more
