However, the Los Angeles fires and concerns about air quality led me to reluctantly seek out a fitness facility. I have to say I didn't know what I was missing. I love this gym. It's extremely clean, you aren't stuck waiting for equipment and everyone is super friendly. Jessica, who is the owner, is very visible. Unfortunately, despite the gym being fantastic, the management is not. After being on a hold for two months due to moving that the owner was kind enough to suggest (unable to use the gym but account is frozen for $25 a month) when I cancelled I was charged a full month as they need a 30 day notice... but I was on a hold/frozen per the owners suggestion...Also, on top of being charged, the charged amount was different and higher than the monthly amount on the lease that I had been paying for an active account. Excellent hidden gem! I wanted a place that wasn't crowded, offered yoga and strength/aerobic classes, had clean equipment, did not have all the grunting bros slamming weights, and had a spa-like locker room vibe. The more you come, the more you see familiar faces, but I never felt like it was too much - a great blend of anonymity and community. The steam showers were a bonus. FunXional Fitness was a much needed outlet for me starting in June 2021 when I moved back from NYC to save up some cash and to enjoy the sunshine. I wanted to get my fitness in tip-top shape so I started training with Reid, who works out of FunXional Fitness. I can honestly say it's the best gym experience I have ever had, and I had my fair share of nightmare mega gym memberships in New York at NYSC and Equinox. FunXional fitness exceeded my expectations. I loved coming back on my off days and doing the training routine Reid would give me. Equipment: Always available and sanitized. There are ample weight machines, squat rack, dumbbells, and cardio machines of your choosing. I loved going during the afternoon because it would be empty and I felt comfortable working out as we got to go into the gym again with masks or without masks on. Showers: The steam showers were my favorite! This is such a luxury addition, there's also body wash/shampoo/conditioner and towels so I didn't have to bring much with me. Everything is at my disposal with digital lockers with locks. Overall, I will miss this place since my work wants me back in the office. Jessica is so sweet and communicative! This place is a temple, not too much of a gym person before finding this gem of a gym! I've been there twice a day for a week now and will continue going back. I have had the best ever gym experience here! You get more than what you pay for! Incredible staff always willing to help. State of the art equipment that is very clean. The owner Jessica personally gets to know you, she matched me with one of their many exceptional trainers after a thorough discussion of my goals. My trainer Kerri has motivated me to achieve and go beyond my goals. For the first time in my life, I actually LOVE working out at the gym. I also love the stretch classes (all classes offered are provided free with membership). You can also purchase a private massage at the gym with Kerri.... she is a certified and experienced masseuse who has the magic touch to every muscle in the body and knows how to provide relief to all my sore spots. The private steam showers at the gym are a special treat! Currently they have almost two hundred members participating in their Spring Motivational Event! What can I say about this place? First, I am not a gym person. That doesn't mean I don't value my health or believe in working out, it means I don't like crowded spaces, negatively competitive atmospheres, or lackluster trainers who don't care about their jobs. Thankfully, FunXional is the exact opposite of all of these things. The space is impeccably maintained and safe; it rarely feels "busy"; the trainers are excellent and kind hearted, and the owner is a caring soul who practices what she preaches. As a disabled person, gyms were always intimidating and unpleasant. Again, FunXional breaks the mould. I never feel out of place or pressured. I never feel like I have to "know it all" before I walk in. I'm able to go, workout in peace, and go about my day. As simple as it may sound, having this place available to me has had a tremendous impact on my life. Funxional Fitness is the best gym I've ever gone to. Full stop. They are attentive, their trainers are amazing, the facility is perfect for my goals. The gym is a little smaller and this makes it seem less overwhelming. Sometimes you go to a gym and don't know where to start... at Funxional everything is perfectly mapped out and if, at anytime, you're unsure of how anything works, the staff is there to help and even make sure you're performing the exercise correctly. There is a feeling of 'family' and a sense of camaraderie at this gym... something I've never felt at a fitness center before. I've even met some great friends there. Jessica (the owner) is friendly, courteous and very helpful. Over the year since I've joined she's become like a little sister to me... and I can safely say this isn't an anomaly. Everyone loves her and for good reason. She's a wonderful person and an excellent trainer. But I have to say the BEST thing about Funxional Fitness are the individual steam showers! They were the highlight of every workout and the reason I went 5x a week :) I cannot even tell you how much I miss those showers during this quarantine... Let me start by simply saying FunXional Fitness is FANTASTIC!! After 2 yrs of dealing with the Covid pandemic, not really working out AT ALL, and packing on addt'l pounds, I decided it was time to get my act together and re-join a local gym that would meet my needs. So low and behold, I stumbled upon FunXional Fitness, by driving by it one day. Not realizing that it was actually a gym. As it is sort of hidden in plain sight, at a busy intersection that I used to drive by frequently, not realizing there was even a gym there. And my decision to join FunXional Fitness was based on the two major criteria I was looking for in joining a gym after the pandemic. #1 - Cleanliness and proper sanitation practices. #2- A gym that was not overly crowded. (I hate waiting for machines or benches to become available. And I don't care to "work in" with someone either...sorry.) Well after doing my initial research, and being a VERY happy member for the past 5 months, FunXional Fitness is everything I was looking for in a local gym and then some. While I've never been a big gym rat that enjoyed working out. I can honestly say that I've come to really look forward to the 3 days a week that I've committed to going to the gym. And I must say that the owner of the gym Jessica, is tremendous!! I have found her to be very warm and supportive. And IF you ask her, she is very willing to offer some good sound advice on your approach to working out properly, and achieving whatever fitness or weight-loss goals you may have set for yourself. Simply put, she knows her stuff. Jessica has provided a comfortable and EXTREMELY clean environment to work out in. There are plenty of sanitation wipe dispensers available all around the gym, that ALL the members are pretty diligent about applying after using the equipment. And the staff does an excellent job of cleaning as well, including the locker room and showers, which are high-end spa quality immaculate. Shout out to Corrina, who is terrific, and does a tremendous job at keeping those areas and the entire gym spotless. No exaggeration. I would describe FunXional Fitness as sort of a boutique gym, as it is not overly big. I'm guessing apprx. 4,000 sq. ft. of actual work out space on the main floor. But it has all the necessary equipment I need to get a good workout. The gym also has about 6-7 really talented, qualified and of course certified independent trainers available as well, if you need that extra push or instruction in your fitness journey. I look forward to eventually working with one of their trainers, once I get more financially stable. In the meantime I choose to pick their brains when I can, and put into practice their free advice. And speaking of $$$, FunXional Fitness is not the most affordable gym around. But I'm of the belief, you get what you pay for. And for what FunXional Fitness provides me in my weight-loss and fitness journey. it's definitely worth the money. No doubt about it. read more

I am more of a hike, yoga, dance person than a gym rat and have only trained with weights for a bit at a one-on-one at an expensive slow training gym. I KNEW I needed to get back into the gym post-pandemic since my fitness level had really declined in the last two years, and I thought creating a habit of training myself would be better than working with a trainer. I am so glad I joined this gym. It is absolutely worth the money! Feeling strong, flexible and energized is PRICELESS! Getting into new, healthy habits on my own is totally empowering. Funxional Fitness is AWESOME!!! I can't believe I didn't know about this gym, especially because I shop at Grocery Outlet right next door all the time. This gym is super clean, welcoming, and it has absolutely EVERYTHING needed to create challenging and diverse workouts. I am having such a great time exploring all of the machines and equipment. This gym is perfect for women like me who aren't gym rats, but want to learn to lift weights in a safe way. I also see plenty of members pumping serious iron with free weights, squat bars, etc. And there are members who are designing their own functional training either with or without a trainer. Before the pandemic apparently they had group fitness classes and yoga. Maybe they will bring that back, but honestly I feel I am getting my money's worth without it! There is so much to explore in this gym: Foam rollers, bands, kettle bells, cardio machines of all types (elliptical, bikes, treadmills, stair steppers, rowing, rope climbing), really good FreeMotion gym equipment, balance trainers, physioballs, the vibration plate for bone health. These are the perfect tools to cross train! The other members are friendly, respectful of space, and dedicated to their fitness. I am inspired every time I go in there to see people of all ages, sizes, and fitness levels doing their thing! The trainers are helpful to show the ins and outs of the equipment, and the owner, Jessica, is a gem. She has created the nicest gym in the valley without all the snootiness found at places like Equinox. Prices aren't different for different members, everyone gets the same deal-- when I had joined other gyms it always felt like they were trying to con me in some way. And the cost here is reasonable and worth every penny. This place is more like a family, a community that doesn't judge and only encourages. Perfect for people who have been afraid to join a gym and veteran gym rats alike. It's the reason this gym has so many die-hard fans...because they/we look at it as our sanctuary, not just a place to work out. So glad I found this gym. I did a free 3-day trial just because this place seemed like the only nice gym that is conveniently located on my commute route. I signed up for a membership two months ago and have been pleasantly surprised about how much I like this place. It's my first time going to a smaller gym, instead of a big chain like 24-Hour fitness, and I like the feeling that the employees know who I am. And although this gym is more expensive than previous gyms I have used, with a current price of $79/month plus a $50 annual fee, it really delivers value for your money. The equipment is high-quality, the workout areas are clean, it is rarely as crowded as other gyms I have been to, and the locker rooms are nice. They have paid attention to detail with little things like the shower tiles, soap, and good towels. I truly look forward to my work outs here. read more
