She acts like we are idiots, and she is so superior when is comes to pet knowledge. If you are going to be a business owner, learn some customer service skills. We had finally makes a decision on what we were going to purchase, and we're planning on going back today. After the experience we had, we will never go to her store again. We will make sure everyone we know will not go there as well. My kids were not running around like crazy. They are not those kind of kids. My son ( who is a fairly calm 9 year old ) was playing with the rabbit- who seemed to enjoy the attention. You could have simply told my son it could scare the birds- instead of sharply saying " I'm going to have you stop. It gets enough exercise during the day". I would stop my kids from being crazy- if that was actually the case. The other time- you started to set a bird on my daughter shoulder- without warning and she flinched out of reaction. You told her she isn't ready for a bird. You completely broke her heart. As you have seen, my daughter has been very interested in a bird and has tried asking you a lot of questions. Honestly very disappointed in your people skills. Also, you do not try to educate. You talk to them like they are beneath you. From an online source: "Some people don't realise just how much exercise rabbits need. They should not be kept in their hutch all day long without any form of exercise. A lack of exercise can lead to serious health problems such as obesity, poor bone and muscle density and urinary infections." www.timeforpaws.co.uk ' owning-y... We only stay places about 4 weeks and if we don't call ahead of our next stop, most places are full and not taking any more dogs. We most often have to resort to PetSmart or Petco and we pay the same amount of money or more and the cut is never as good as the local groomers. We want to shop and spend our money with local businesses but its hard when you're not regular customer. Thankfully, we were able to jump into a spot with about 2 weeks out notice and that worked for us. What worked for us: ------------------------------------- They had a spot for us! They offered a full grooming service with nails, teeth, ears, etc.. They agreed to not 'treat' Charlie while grooming him. (he has a very sensitive stomach) They asked questions about what we wanted and confirmed the cut we were looking for (we showed the last PetSmart groomer 6 photos and told him exactly what we wanted and they still shaved off our Charlie's eyebrows???) They could do a Schnauzer cut (mostly the Schnauzer head is what we're looking for) They about 90 minute (most of the PetCo/Smart places require 3-4 hours???) They were easy to locate They had parking for our big truck (we have an F450 Dually) What did not work: ----------------------------------- Can't think of anything. They did a great job and our Charlie came back looking dapper and smelling good ;-)

I can say that in two years of learning about reefing, I've only scratched the surface of knowledge in the hobby. But I can safely say that greatest wealth of knowledge that I've gained, and the greatest service that I've received in that time has been from Jen at Salty Fins. With over 18 years of experience in the hobby and business, her and Mike have helped me to navigate and progress from my first 13 gallon Nano tank, to now my two pride and joy tanks - 60 gallon and 150 gallon. They've guided me right every time, from dealing with the uglies, managing water quality and parameters, helping build a healthy ecosystem, and doing the best to have tanks that I enjoy, but also provide a healthy habitat for all inhabitants. I spend a lot of time in the store just chatting with Jen and learning, and after two years I'm starting to get a grasp of it, and really understanding how these complex ecosystems work *after they get established*. Two months isn't even long enough for live rock to come alive... Jen has *ALWAYS* treated me fairly, and that's why I come back day after day, week after week. Not everything has always survived that I've purchased and put in my tanks. Sometimes it's my fault, sometimes it wasn't a healthy specimen to begin with, and just as life teaches us, sometimes it's not anyone's fault. It's just life. But I've always taken the time to talk with Jen about it, and we've always come to a satisfactory resolution. She's kind, understanding, and really, really wants the best for her customers and the living things that she sells. Swing by Salty Fins, get to know Jen, and start your journey with saltwater reefing, and you'll see what I mean. Great products and service, and a wealth of knowledge is why I keep coming back.

It also happened to be the only place in town that carried my dogs prior pet food (small batch pets). I started coming here weekly about two years ago. Initially I really loved the customer service here. Some younger girls were working and not only did my pet love them- but I did as well. They were warm, helpful and outgoing. Then something shifted - I walked in one day and the owner Kate was discussing prior employee with another customer. Bad mouthing them and discussing how the had moved to work for her "competition". Maybe I'm just too "community over competition" oriented but this experience put a horrible taste in the mouth. Everytime I've seen Kate the owner after she's just very off putting, she's condescending and rude. Not a friendly woman in any form. There are other local pet stores in stgeorge that you could patronize that undoubtedly treat their employees, past employees and customers with more kindness. Also, the owner is VERY money oriented. It doesn't really matter how much you've been there-there used to be free samples which they now charge for.
