I have come to this store for years and always happy with everything. I have bought birds and my dog and a snake and always satisfied. The most recent visit was for a wheezing hamster actually a bird as well that was almost unliving. Anyway he gave me this antibiotic for birds or small animals and I crushed one up and put it in my hamsters water for I believe seven days now and up until day five I believe she was still wheezing but now she is not and I think she just might make it. The antibiotic he gave me was only 14.99 and it saved my hamster. Clay and a lot of the other workers have been there for a long time and are very knowledgeable. It is a great company. read more

I went with my kids to look at their Axolotls, surprisingly they were kept in the tiny Betta cups swimming in their own excrement but that wasn't even the beginning. We decided to look at their small pet room, but upon looking we saw a gerbil in a small enclosure with over 20 others that had had a deep gash along its back. I took pictures to send to a rescue I volunteer for and told an employee. She went and grabbed it by the tail and put it in the back. An hour or so later I was so bothered by it I came back to buy it so the rescue to get it medical care. The employee there looked at me like I was a crazy person when I said I wanted to buy it to take it to a rescue. He looked in the back and it wasn't there, then my stomach turned when I saw him look at the snake enclosures. I could tell right then what had happened. They told me they had sold it as a feeder but I'm pretty sure they just gave it to the big snake. Another employee told me this was standard practice that when they have any injured small animals they end up as feeder food. Absolutely horrendous. read more

I would say they would do better being a mom and pop shop and not be stooges for big aquarium moguls who never shop or promote their store. Step father bought a "registered" shitzu from the store. Later found out hes not registered and the paperwork was a fraud. This is after we had bread him with an AKC A+ female. So in turn the puppies were very difficult to get rid of as shitzu puppies without proper paperwork. Hes been biting and violent since he was left with us and bit my wife and I. So beware of puppy mill dogs from this store. I would not recommend this fraudulent business to anyone. The vet says hes a shit poo " shitzu poodle". So yah my family got unknowingly taken for a ride and now we have to have this dog put down after spending thousands of dollars. read more

My daughter bought two fish from Sue's yesterday. Shame on Sue's Pet Castle for selling her fish that were distressed. The fins were eaten away, something she didn't notice, but a pet store should know what they are selling and at the very least, replace them or refund. The fish both died within hours of purchase. It was suggested by the store that water in the tank was the problem. Wrong! The water was tested and other fish already in the tank are fine. NEVER buy from Sue's. This is in regards to Sue's Pet Castle: I would have given this negative stars, but it wouldn't let me post. For how ridiculously expensive this place is, you would think that they would have better polices/rules. I went in to get a $10 fancytail goldfish. When we got home, I noticed that he had a white spot on him. I thought it was just his color, but upon further inspection, I realized it was fungus. Since fungus isn't contagious, I figured that it was just a freak accident or that he got an open wound from being with bigger fish in the Sue's tank. I went to get fungus medicine and he was already dead within that day. I went back and got 2 more fancytail goldfish (now at $30 for goldfish). I brought them home and noticed immediately that they had ick! It quickly grew by the next day. I called and told them nicely what had happened and if I could at least get a refund for the first one or some ick medicine or something?? He was very rude, told me that he can't do anything since I didn't call the day of the fungus, and that the best he could do... is reccomend that I come in and BUY ICK MEDICINE! He said he can't control ick and that the other fish don't have it. I said, really? You can't compensate at all? Also, I have to buy the medicine for fish that came sick? Okay thanks, never mind. Then, he had the audacity to HANG UP ON ME! I will never set foot in this "establishment" EVER again. This post will be going on all of my social media as well. Terrible, terrible service. Everything from the pet shampoos to the food and the pets themselves were great! We bought a dachshund puppy from this place a few months ago. Once we drove back to Vegas we took the puppy to our vet. This puppy had such a bad ear infection in both ears that it took 3 months of medication to clear it up. The puppy was also diagnosed with mange. That also took 3 months and vet visits every two weeks to clear up. He was also under weight. Hundreds of dollar later he is a healthy happy puppy. Once we saw him in the store we knew that we could not leave him there and had to take him home and get him fixed up. This place needs to pay better attention to the pets that they have in their care. His ears were so bad that they were black inside and it was clear to anyone that he had an infection. Who knows what would have happened to this poor baby if we would have left him there. read more

DO NOT BUY PETS HERE! I got Amano Shrimp here about a year and a half ago to put in my Betta tank. My Betta was very healthy, I have never had problems with fish. Shortly after adding the shrimp to the tank my Betta started growing white mold all over his body and died the next day. I had never seen that before so didn't attribute it to the shrimp. I got another Betta and the same thing happened. I realized it was the shrimp after that and sadly flushed it and emptied my tank and refilled it. I got another Betta and the same thing happened. I ended up having to throw away the gravel, decorations and plants and get new stuff and disinfect my tank with vinegar. After that I got another Betta and never had problems. And today I had to take back 2 rats I got about a month ago because they had some virus or bacteria that gave my 9 year old daughter these big, raised, ugly, pussy, scabby spots. It is now on half her finger, her whole wrist and a big spot on the back of her leg. And I am starting to get it on one of my fingers. Neither of us has ever had any skin condition and this happened shortly after getting the rats. The only way they would take back the rats was as a "donation" so they can sell them to someone else now, I did not get my money back. I had to throw away the rat's bed, house and all toys and disinfect the cage, food bowl, wheel and exercise ball with vinegar. The place is very smelly and you can tell it is not clean. The only reason I got rats there was because no one else sells rats. And they do not socialize their animals. One of my rats was so scared she started biting. I have owned about 50 rats in my life and never once had one bite me. I was working on getting her to trust me till my daughter got whatever it is she has from them and I had to get rid of them. The doctors had never seen anything like what my daughter has. They were at a loss as to what it is. I will NEVER EVER be doing business there again. I give it 0 stars, but I had to add a star to post this. read more

I wish this place would shut down. They have way to many animals and are obviously not able to take care of them. Walking in was depressing seeing all the mice and rats crammed into one small space. All the animals there looked miserable. And to top it all of the staff don't treat the animals with love and respect. My boyfriend and I witnessed a worker push around the mice, grab one by the tail and just throw it in a box for a customer. It broke my heart! All the people that work at sues pet castle are thee biggest ass holes. The manager started yelling and screaming at me bc I wanted to hold a puppy and he told me he wouldn't sell it to me. Not only that, I would NOT recommend getting any sort of animal there, they do NOT take care of their animals. I've gotten two dogs from there and they both got parvo. I was very disrespected and I am not okay with it. They're all total douche bags and need to be out of business. AND they are mean to the animals. The staff is not friendly having been unkind to my wife on several occasions, the owner is outright rude to customers (which probably accounts for the staff's treatment of customers), the prices are way more expensive than anywhere else, and the quality is atrocious. They also won't give you your money back on items. e.g. We bought an item, returned it two hours later unopened with our receipt in hand... no refund. We HAD to get a store credit. There was nothing else in the store we wanted so we had to take the loss. Also, when you enter the place smells terrible and has poor ventilation. I feel for the animals in there. Me and a friend went in just for fun, looking at the puppies. We eventually decided, after a long thought process, to both get one. We both got chihuahua puppies about 3 months old. They were from different litters, which was obvious from their markings and sizes. They were so cute and fun. Mine Shiloh, hers was named Oi. Hers passed away only a few weeks after taking him home. Mine just passed a few days ago. They both had parasites, and my friends also had heart worms. I couldn't believe it. 400$ was the total for both of us, each. And what did we get? A whole lot of heart break. I was so emotionally attached. But I knew there was something wrong with him.. Now I know 2 things. 1, to get your animals checked regularly, and 2, NEVER buy from Sues Pet Castle. I am working on warning everyone about puppy mills right now. I am sincerely outraged. The fish selection is awesome and we love going here for our fish needs. However they don't seem to care about any of the other animals in the store. I have seen different animals mixed in with each other. Guinea pigs and bunny's in the same small cage or bunny's and cats. The puppy's that they have there seem sick and are extremely over priced. We have tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. The staff just doesn't seem very well educated when it comes to all the animals that they carry. When our pet rats died this is the only place in town that sells rats, so we decided to look at getting more rats from them. Rats like most rodents naturally have a bad respiratory system and need a clean non dusty type of bedding. Aspen shavings are the worst type of bedding to use with the types of animals.(hamsters, rats, guinea pigs, etc.) They also had males and females in the same cages. I'm not sure about other animals but rats can get pregnant as young as 6 weeks old, so having males and females together even if they are babies can still cause pregnancy as well as aggression and sickness. I understand that pet stores mostly sell rats as feeder animals for snakes and other other animals. But for those looking for a rat as a pet I wouldn't recommend this place. You could get a pregnant female or simply a very sick rat with respiratory issues or worse. read more
