I've been taking my 3 yr old dog, Nala to The Gray Dog for over 2 years. The 1st year I had Nala I tried 4-5 different Groomers in the St. George/Washington Utah area. None of them came close to the kind of grooming and overall service Nala, receives at The Gray Dog! Everyone is super nice and helpful. I go to the same Groomer, (Stephanie), every time so Nala feels comfortable there. She looks fantastic when she's done too! She used to hate grooming! *{Her very first grooming as a puppy was very traumatic for her as she was injured very badly requiring a vet visit!} But she isn't afraid when we go into The Gray Dog. She's wagging her tail every time and gets excited when Stephanie comes out! When she is done she looks fantastic! I always get comments on how cute & soft she is! People who know us always recognize when she's been groomed & compliment her! To be honest there were a couple of times that I didn't feel like she was groomed as well as I'd like. But I'll admit I am a perfectionist and pretty finicky, especially when it comes to Nala. Most of the time the mistakes are something small. So I take her back & they fix it. Sometimes she doesn't look as good overall, as other times. I don't get to upset about it though. They are so good to us & the majority of the time she looks fabulous! Besides, everyone has an off day every now and then. So I usually just let it slide, knowing it will be better next time. But I also know if I REALLY wanted a few things changed or cleaned up a bit, they would do it in a heartbeat at no charge! In fact, I think I did that once. Based on my previous experiences with other grooming places in the area, I really feel this is the best place around. I've already recommended it to several people. I've even had friends who switch from their Groomer to The Gray Dog because they weren't happy with where they were going! The Gray Dog is a great place! I'm just very unhappy with how it was handled and you never told me you worked her into your schedule. I just asked if you had an opening. So please don't blame this on me. All you did was smiled and took my money gave me my dog, and I was out the door Even though I said I wasn't happy with her feet. I highly recommend The Gray Dog. I've been going to them for the last 7+ years and I've never had a bad experience. Each of my dogs have been to all of their groomers and they all do a fantastic job. They are always very welcoming when you walk through the door and they do an amazing job whenever they groom my very stubborn dogs. I have a 17-year-old Shih Tzu I take to them and they are very patient with her because she is very old. They also have amazing food and treat selections! I couldn't recommend them enough. We are full time RVers and one of our biggest challenges is finding a groomer that can take our Charlie when we come in to town. We only stay places about 4 weeks and if we don't call ahead of our next stop, most places are full and not taking any more dogs. We most often have to resort to PetSmart or Petco and we pay the same amount of money or more and the cut is never as good as the local groomers. We want to shop and spend our money with local businesses but its hard when you're not regular customer. Thankfully, we were able to jump into a spot with about 2 weeks out notice and that worked for us. What worked for us: ------------------------------------- They had a spot for us! They offered a full grooming service with nails, teeth, ears, etc.. They agreed to not 'treat' Charlie while grooming him. (he has a very sensitive stomach) They asked questions about what we wanted and confirmed the cut we were looking for (we showed the last PetSmart groomer 6 photos and told him exactly what we wanted and they still shaved off our Charlie's eyebrows???) They could do a Schnauzer cut (mostly the Schnauzer head is what we're looking for) They about 90 minute (most of the PetCo/Smart places require 3-4 hours???) They were easy to locate They had parking for our big truck (we have an F450 Dually) What did not work: ----------------------------------- Can't think of anything. I used to take my older dog there for grooming. He gets very anxious. Well, they basically kicked us out. They said that it took too long to groom him because he was old. I moved here from SLC and no groomer EVER complained that he took too long, they just said that they would give him breaks in-between grooming. Just in from New Mexico, found Grey Dog online. Decided to take a chance. One of the right decisions we've made. They did an EXCELLENT job. Very neat, The boys look sharp! Worst service and grooming in town. Dog came back with the same fur knots that it went in with and no fur was trimmed. When I dropped the dog off I specified certain places that needed to be trimmed and it wasn't. I don't recommend this place for anyone to take their dogs and the reason they are the only groomer in town with appointments is probably because they do such a shitty job. read more

We took our 7 month old Yorki to this location. I specifically told the lady I handed him off to that he has allergies and needed a Hyper-allergenic shampoo. She said she would for sure make note of that. When I picked him up he instantly started to show signs of distress...over the next couple of days he got worse. We ended up having two visits to the ER, then figured out it was probably the shampoo they used to wash him. Right after we bathed him he instantly started to get better. I don't like leaving bad reviews but I do feel like my instructions should have been followed through.... we are so lucky we figured it out before it was too late. read more

This is by far the best groomer in town. We have a basset hound whose nails are pretty tricky and they take such great care of him. Our pup is always comfortable and he always looks great. Their facility is very clean, modern, and welcoming. Their self-wash stations are very easy to use and they have great products that you can't find anywhere else. We had been going to Gray Dog for three years and were so happy with their service. The last time they went a "new" groomer worked on o s of our Westies and cut him twice. They never told us it happened. The cuts became infected and the vet bills were over $400. Because we had been customers for years I wanted to give them a chance to explain what happened, I know we all make mistakes. When I called to ask about what happened and why no one told us about the cuts I was told they would make a note in my file. I was so disappointed... it felt like they did not even care.
