I brought my boi in to stay through Memorial Day weekend. A Friday to Tuesday stay. This was his first boarding experience, and I expect there to be some learning curves. Unfortunately, I don't feel that learning curves covers how I picked him up on Tuesday. I chose this place through referral, and also customer review. My gal never had any issues utilizing this place previously. They have a good location, and their cost isn't too bad considering where it is. I had him in for 4 nights, and provided the food. and some treats. First recognition. I did get an email about him having stomach issues and diarrhea. I appreciate that notification. When I arrived to pick him up, I was waiting in the front and there was a lady (not sure if she's a manager or owner), and we chatted about his stay. She mentioned he was behaving a bit more aggressively and bullying a bit, and had to be kept from some of the other dogs. That, I completely understand. He's a big boi for a two year old, and we're still working on training some of those habits out. Fights and injuries were not mentioned. When they brought him out, he had marks on the bridge of his nose and his lip. This was not reported to me, and when I asked they said it may have been due to him being anxious in his cage. Except that they were not rubbing wounds, they are four puncture wounds. He also smelled atrociously, and required an immediate bath. He had brown stains on his legs and hind quarters. This man would not sit in his own stool unless he had to. If it wasn't his own, then the cage wasn't clean. And his breath smelled just as bad as what I had to wash off of him. If he wasn't allowed out with others, and was given his normal diet, his breath shouldn't have deteriorated to such a degree. When he came out of the door, he wasn't excited, he was fearful. While separation can be a traumatic experience, this wasn't that kind of emotion. We've been separated for weeks before, I know what that is like. Even after two days since pickup, he still not quite right after this experience. From a logical perspective of baseline customer service: 1. If my dog is bleeding from his face, you need to report it to me. 2. He shouldn't be covered in feces. 3. With my original inquiry, I and was told what may have happened. That doesn't work well for me. If he was separated, in a controlled environment, we should know exactly what happened. And no one should be covered in feces. Follow Up - I wrote to the facility, and they responded quickly both times. They apologized for his condition, and that protocol was not followed. Though it doesn't change my experience, I appreciate that. They were also nice enough to offer a credit, and grooming. Things aren't always perfect, I get it. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. read more

I called Fur Paws to make an appointment for my fur baby but, wanted to express my concerns before booking an appt due to a less than pleasant experience at another groomer. Karen listened to all of my concerns and reassured me that my pooch would be fine. For new customers the sign up process is a little tedious but, I am happy to know that all dogs must present proof of vaccinations prior to being serviced. I called to check on my fur baby after I dropped him off because I was worried(another groomer from another place cut my baby) and Karen was so patient and able to to explain exactly what my dog was doing and did not make me feel bad about calling. My pups cut came out exactly like the photo I presented and he smelled so good DAYS after his visit. He loved the facility, walking around looking for toys and even made a friend while there. He was a bit thirsty when I picked him up but its very hot in Texas. Overall, great experience I will def drop him off again. Prices are def reasonable btw. read more

Terrible customer service. The groomer did a decent job but one of his nails had been cut too short and bled all over my couch when I got home. I called to let them know, and the girl at the front desk told me that bleeding is a "normal part of grooming." She then told me the manager would reach out to me, which never happened. They also overcharged me for a large dog price when his most recent weight is in the medium category. I will not be going back. read more

We love Furpaws so much! Jorge and Nazira and the rest of the staff truly love our two French bulldogs and our pups get so excited when we drop them off for daycare! We've sent our oldest to training with Jorge and it's amazing how well our dog behaves for him. After just a few one-on-one sessions our stubborn pup learned how to stay and was so much more obedient. It's been almost a year since we first did training and we are starting back to again. My non aggressive, very friendly and very happy Wheaton was in for a trim 2 weeks ago.When I picked him up and asked how it went they said "all went well except that he nipped at the groomer" his name is Grim. He said it wasn't bad. Then they charged $15 aggressive dog charge. Seriously, I have never owned a dog in my 20yr dog owners that was charged for this. Then at home I came to find out that my dog had a cut between one of his front toes AND a cut at his anus!!!! No wonder he nipped! Avoid this place!! read more

I have a Boxer / Husky mix who was a rescue. He was already gre eat in care and potty trained, but was leash aggressive and wanted to be the leader. Zeek who's extremely energetic and rambunctious was dropped off for their two week obedience two week training. They had him for the first week & half, the last four days they brought me in to coach me along side ZeEk and teach me how to work with Zeek in order to maintain his training. In the training with me present they taught me how to be more authoritative and be the leader without changing the way I saw him as my baby. I've been practicing with him and he's been great and very obedient, although at times he tried to test me with what I'll allow; I use my teaching from them to recorrect his behavior and obtain the superior role. I'll be bringing him back for off leash training for sure! This accomplishment has great people workingvfornthe company. At Fur Paws they play with the dogs and give them love. I felt less guilty for leaving him they re for two weeks knowing that they are sweet and caring with the dogs! I strongly recommend Fur Paws to anyone who wants to train their dog with people who don't use hitting or negative training tactics. We are very picky with who we let groom Winter since she has major anxiety. Our last groomer closed their location and we were trying to find another groomer we can trust. While we were searching, winter developed an allergy and she needed to be shaved down to get some relief. We found Fur Paws since most places were closed on Sunday. We met with Nazira and immediately we felt comfortable. They had a waiting area for dogs instead of putting her in a kennel. Her son came to play with Winter and Nazira listened to our concerns attentively. After she was done, she sent a picture of Winter and let us know she was ready for pick up. I was surprised to see that Nazira followed everything we said and did such a wonderful job on Winter. My husband was happy that even when he came to pick her up, she wasn't put in a kennel but was hanging out at reception with Nazira. Most places I have been to try to upcharge you for everything, but Fur Paws didn't do that and we were pleasantly surprised. Edit per your response: Just because I haven't brought my pups to YOU in the past 4 months, doesn't mean they haven't been groomed or had their coat cared for. And it being an issue that I bring them to you periodically has never been discussed, so not sure what you're referring to. And your response also doesn't address the fact that you didn't run it by me prior to adding an extra charge when you've done that every other time I've been there. Why would I pay extra for an undercoat removal when you had perform the dematting. Again, do better because that comes off as incredibly sketchy. My previous experiences with Fur Paws were pleasant, but after the last I will be pursuing a new groomer. Whoever now works the front desk made my last drop off for a grooming incredibly difficult. Any other time I've been I'm able to drop and go, which works best with my nervous pups, but for some reason she had lots of questions even though my dogs were already in the system and had been groomed there before. Other pet parents were dropping their dogs off in the lobby which made my two Pomeranians very nervous while we waited and answered questions. I booked a full groom + an undercoat removal. Previous times I've had my pups groomed, the groomer texts, asks questions, let's me know if she has any concerns, and sends me photos along the way. This time I received zero texts or pics, and yet pics of my dogs were posted on Instagram, and when I picked up my pups I was told I was charged extra due to matting. What I had assumed would be a $60-70 grooming ended up totaling almost $250 for both. That's odd that you would opt to add on charges on a day you didn't bother to text to let me know there was an issue. If I had known I was going to have to pay for matting, I wouldn't have added on the undercoat treatment. Just seems sketchy and very disappointing. read more

I initially brought my rescue rat terrier Sweetness in for training. She came from the shelter with a LONG list of issues. Jorge (aka dog whisperer) taught ME that what I mistook as aggression was her being protective and me being timid. She's still "overly vocal" (barks a LOT) and snarky in certain situations but knowing the cause helps me manage. Joe and I (Rose) rescued Cash (Boxer dog) from the Houston Boxer Rescue (HBR) in June 2018.  We were determined to give him the best and "furever" loving home, nothing less. ). Keep in mind, Boxers are very loving, playful, loyal, protective and INTELLIGENT!  Cash quickly became extremely attached to Joe and me, and we are his "everything." Although Cash was very playful with ALL dogs of any size, listened to commands well, and loved us unconditionally, he did not allow any other human in or our around his "bubble."  God forbid a human approaching us on a sidewalk, a waitress coming to wait on our table at a pet-friendly restaurant, a child running toward him to pet him, or just anyone "looking at" or "sweet talking" to him with praise and affection - he was not taking it. Once another human "locked eyes" with him or gave him any attention whatsoever, he perceived that as a threat, tensed up, growled and lunged forward.  He was simply very distrustful of any stranger being around him or us - that was our main problem with Cash. Despite trying to train Cash ourselves, we looked into getting help for Cash because not only had he become anti-social with other humans, he also had a bit of separation anxiety (which is understandable him being a rescue). After 8 months, I consulted with HBR about the behavioral issues we were having with Cash, and they recommended Fur Paws, LLC - they themselves utilize Fur Paws, LLC for their rescues.  Thus, I did some research on Fur Paws, LLC - there was no way we would leave our pet anywhere for 2-weeks, unless we felt comfortable with the place and had a good gut feeling about it, the trainer, and staff as well. During our initial consultation at Fur Paws, LLC  (Heights location), Jorge Guerra (owner/instructor) quickly identified the problem(s) with Cash, demonstrated a few exercises with Cash right in front of us, and explained in detail what was going on with him.  To our relief, Jorge quickly categorized Cash as non-aggressive.  We knew all along our baby boy Cash was harmless, but it being confirmed by a professional was such a relief.  We were very impressed with Jorge's professionalism, deep knowledge of and experience with canines, interactions with Cash, as well as his friendly staff.  The consultation was positive - we made the decision to leave our Cash for 2 weeks, although we knew it would not be easy.  With Cash being a rescue, the last thing we wanted was for him to be mistreated or feel like he had been abandoned once again. As promised, we received frequent updates, photos, and videos of Cash during his 2-week training, which meant a lot to us, because although we knew he was in good hands while at Fur Paws, LLC, we still needed reassurance (we also missed him so much).   Knowing he was being trained, but also being cared for and treated with love and affection was paramount to us.  It was reiterated to us again and again we could visit Cash at any time during the 2-week training program if we wanted to, but we opted not to (as difficult as it was) simply because we knew our boy missed us and we did not want to create an emotional rollercoaster for him and/or interfere with his training.   All of our questions were answered, from the initial consultation to the last day of training, and any future questions we may have are just a phone call or text away.  The training is 100% guaranteed. Training does not finish at the end of the 2-week training program, it continues at home as ongoing training between the pet owner(s) and the pet, but we feel very confident in knowing what we need to do so that Cash will not revert to his old ways.  Not only did Cash get quality training, we as pet owners received some quality training as well. All in all, we got our boy Cash back - a much more obedient and trusting pet.  During the initial consultation, Cash didn't like Jorge very much (as expected); by the end of training, Cash loved him.  We will not hesitate to utilize Fur Paws, LLC again in the future for any boarding or daycare, if needed.  We feel the training was well worth the money and an investment, and Jorge Guerra (Fur Paws, LLC) delivered exceptional and professional service.  We know Cash will be even happier now being able to be out in public with us, and us too, knowing he has the proper socialization skills.  Cash is part of our family and we want him around our family and friends as well - thank you Fur Paws, LLC, for making this possible.   As I write this review about Fur Paws, LLC, I want to wish our fur baby a very Happy Birthday!  Cash turns 2-years old today - Happy Birth Cash! read more

Nazira and Jorge were amazing. My partner and I were really nervous leaving our fur baby for two weeks. We missed him very much, but Nazira helped by sending us videos and pictures of him. When we arrived for our first session with Zero, he was a completely different puppy. I was mind blown. His obedience had increased to a high level in such a short period of time. We are very thankful to Fur Paws for such an amazing transformation and for reaching us how to keep training him at home. We have giant rescue dogs (Great Pyrenees) - if you know anything about the breed they are usually gentle giants, unless they need to protect who they love : ) and they don't take commands well, they're very strong-willed. When these dogs have been abused they are, like any dog, more complicated, and in this case 130 lbs. of "more complicated" so it is not easy to find anyone to groom them much less accommodate their special needs. This is exactly what they did at Fur Paws. Disclaimer: I am very aware of who our dogs are and don't pretend they aren't complicated - when I did the online registration I was very honest about one of them being very grouchy and, because of kennel neglect, he suffered from arthritis and hip dysplasia which made him prone to snap (never has bitten) but he will, immediately and fiercely, let you know what he makes him afraid. Fur Paws called me to find out more and told me they would discuss how to handle him and let me know. They called back and said they would take him and that they would also block off time so he was the only dog being groomed which would help with his tension. This is a dog who has to be muzzled and held by my husband with all hands on deck at the vet and Fur Paws did not have any issues with him! He came home clean, fresh, and happy - tired, of course, but happy. We have since sent our other Pyr, whose only problem is he doesn't care what you do as long as you let him lay down while you're doing it - a different kind of challenge for a groomer, I'm sure. We are so happy to have found a place we can rely on and trust with our big boys and we would recommend them to anyone for any dog - as long as you are honest about who your fur baby is so they can plan for the best outcome. Fur Paws's training services are absolutely stellar. We first contacted them several months ago due to our 1 year old Lola's (Rhodesian Ridgeback) aggressive behavior when on the leash around our apartment building. We left her for boarding and training one week, and followed up with several private at home and at Fur Paws sessions to continue building Lola's and our skills. Jorge was very understanding, knowledgeable, and friendly and had great communication with us. Fur Paws did an excellent job in working with our schedule and I don't know where to begin with the training itself- we started with a 90lb dog that would pull and lunge at dogs and people, and now thanks to Fur Paws , we have gone to a dog that has learned to walk off leash while listening to our commands and staying with us at all times. Training is an ongoing process and we still have work to do, but we have regained all the confidence we had lost and feel equipped to face any new challenges with the knowledge and skills we have developed.
