I was torn about writing this review. I was psyched to find a company that assembled IKEA furniture, but the reality of the service was not what I expected. First, I felt the quote was not completely fair. I had started assembling my new bed and got stuck halfway through on a step. So I had already put the bed together halfway, possibly more than halfway. I called FAE to step in at this point so I could focus on other parts of our move. We had just bought our first house and just finished installing brand new hardwood floors throughout. Immediately the assembler scratched a huge deep scratch into our bedroom floor by moving the bed by himself. This was easily preventable by sending two assemblers for a project that definitely warranted two, given the bed size. This scratch is in a high traffic area and it's super noticeable even one year later. I didn't complain to the company at the time because I was so overwhelmed with the whole moving process as a first time home buyer. Another thing I noticed was that the time estimates were off for assembly appointments. The rep said assembly would take 2 hours based on this bed type and experience. It took the guy at least 5-6 hours and he worked nonstop. These estimates need to be more accurate because as another reviewer pointed out - some women do not like to have unknown men in their homes for long periods of time. The 2 hours were fine and during the day, but it eventually got dark and I started feeling less comfortable with a stranger in my home. Not to mention it is a matter of respecting a client's time. All in all, the company is in business to assemble furniture correctly, efficiently and, I'm assuming to not damage other areas of your house while they're at it. Because I can only check 1 out of the 3 items, I wouldn't use them again. I'd look for another company with systems in place to avoid damage to floors. read more

I hired the "Furniture Assembly Experts" to move a pool table that I purchased. The price for the move was quoted at $350.00. The movers showed up to pick up the pool table, but they did not have the manpower to perform the move. They tried to move the table and in the process, damaged it. To make a long story short, the only way the move was going to be accomplished was if I provided the labor. We chipped in and provided 50% of the labor for the move. To add to the unprofessional manner in which the move was accomplished, the movers never tried to protect the table with moving blankets or cardboard, so it is no wonder the table was damaged prior to our intervention. After a month and a half of trying to contact them, I was finally successful, but the resolution offered was completely unacceptable. Now, they were able to fix the damage to the pool table, but were unwilling to refund an acceptable amount for the labor that I had to provide. If you are looking for a professional moving company that will perform the job without damaging your property, I would recommend you look elsewhere. read more

The appointment was at 9am, they showed up two hours late, with no dolly or equipment to move the furniture. And then just left. How do you come to move furniture and equipment without a Dolly? No one ever called to say they would be late, I had to call and they had no clue where the movers were. Finally, at 9;36 the mover called and said one of the guys called out, so he had to wait for another mover and that he'd be there in about 40 minutes. The office never bothered to call to explain this or ask me to reschedule. They are the most unorganized, unprofessional movers I have ever dealt with. Run the other direction. If they do manage to come on time and have the equipment to complete your move, I have no doubt they will damage all your stuff! read more

This is really a negative 5 stars. Do not use. I arranged for a trampoline assembly with amazon. Amazon scheduled a time (11-2 which was my last choice. I wanted later in the day which wasn't available). Amazon sent me an email stating that I would get an email from my provider 48 hours before the date scheduled with a picture of my technician and the name of the company providing the service. That never happened. Red flag 1. On the day of service, when I hadn't heard anything, I looked on my amazon account and saw a number with the name of the company contracted to provide the service. I called the number and spoke to the lady who acted like she was doing me a favor by answering the phone (red flag 2) and she told me they would be there close to 11. I called at 1, 2:30, and 3:00 and got the same story. They are on their way, they are wrapping up their last job. Finally at 3:30 after being put on hold, she tells me they are working a big job and aren't coming but I could reschedule. So she led me on all day and expected me to reschedule. I then asked to speak to a manager and she told me there was no one but her in the office and hung up on me. Amazon gave me a 30 credit but my day off work is worth a lot more than 30 bucks. They should really screen their provides because a quick internet search shows this company isn't dependable or customer focused. This company is terrible. Avoid at all costs. read more

Do not use this business for TV mounting. They don't tell you anywhere on the website that they don't supply the mounting equipment. When I spoke to the person to reserve the time for my 50 inch TV to be mounted he said nothing about me having to provide the mounting equipment. Since I had never had a TV mounted I had no idea the cost did not include the equipment. The technician has a one hour window to report to your home for installation. They don't tell you that either up front. Our technician showed up 35 minutes late. We asked for our money back and they said we could get all but $50 back. We explained that we had no idea the mounting service didn't include the hardware. He couldn't do anything. They said the $50 was for his time. He showed up and that cost money. We contracted with Furniture Assembly Experts out of Lanham, MD to assemble an outdoor playset (instructions stated it would take two men 18 hours to complete the job). While I was extremely hesitant to pay in full up front, after many conversations with Michael and Melissa we decided to go for it. Our plan was to be out of town with our 4-year-old and surprise her for her birthday with the swing set up and assembled when we arrived home. Our neighbors were informed and sent a few pictures throughout the day with progress. The work was scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., and happily, a team of three men arrived at 10 a.m. Work was completed by 7 p.m., and when we returned home the next day, we saw the job was complete but not to our satisfaction. While the structure was assembled well and carefully, and it was clearly sturdy, it was also clearly crooked. Because this was a holiday weekend, I did not expect a quick response, but nonetheless a plan was put in place to have a technician come out to reinspect the work. As a result, two techinicians returned to level the structure and we are extremely pleased with the outcome. Time was not of the essence for us. The final outcome was worth the money. The men worked hard, Jason (a technician) was courteous and helpful with the inspection and rework, and in the end I would recommend using the company for assembly of large items. read more

They did a nice job, and even went with me to the hardware store when we found that I was missing a part (this was a second attempt at assembly after the first assembler couldn't do it). If there was a way to give negative stars I would, worst experience ever!! I had contacted this company and made arrangements to move a three bedroom house on Sunday August 5, 2018 and the order was prepaid as they require, my window of arrival was 10-12. I have a 2year old and 8 month old abs they were with my mom who was helping. I had hired two women at my new house to start with organizing and unpacking so we could stay in the house that night. we had spent weeks packing and my husband and I were taping the last of the boxes and awaiting the arrival of the truck. It was 12:15 no truck yet we waited and figured they must have had a job beforehand that ran late, 1pm still no truck tried calling the company they are closed on Sunday even though the website indicates the crew works 24/7 for quotes. Tried texting the number where I got the automated confirmation and the number does not get in coming text. Tried going to the website and submitted a request for quote that said MY CREW HAD NOT ARRIVED NEED A CALL but no response. At 2pm still no show and everyone on standby we decided to call uhaul and luckily they had a 20ft truck available, I hired 4 day laborers and at 3pm we moved ourselves. We worked round the clock and finished late into the night. This we a total nightmare I would not with on anyone and please do yourself a favor DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!! It's now Wednesday and I have since contacted the company several times. I have received no explanation, no apology, the manager has been "unavailable", and I'm still waiting on a refund. read more

I've used Furniture Assembly Experts three times over the last couple of years. We relocated from NJ and had to re-assemble a couple of large IKEA Pax wardrobes and after moving into our home needed to assemble a couple of new Pax wardrobes. The guys who they sent were absolute professionals. The knew what they were doing, and efficiently assembled and secured these huge wardrobes (with sliding doors, shelves, drawers, etc.) to the walls. There was no fuss and no time wasted. I had an appt scheduled for 6pm today I left work early to make it on time. I was told a driver will contact me when en-route. It's now almost 11:33pm I've sent several emails calls and voicemails and I have yet to hear from anyone about my appt. This is very disappointing considering they require full prepayment for services. I'm concerned that this is a scam and they've run off with my money. Communication was very consistent up until now ( even after hours). To have no one show up without an explanation is unacceptable. ZERO stars in my book. Hopefully my update will have a positive outcome and not be the result of a scam. UPDATE I've sent over 10 emails and countless calls and voicemails. I wanted to leave an honest review on their website about our most recent service received but of course it was conveniently not available.This is the third time we have used their service if it had been our first it would have been our last. (Our first service with them was scheduled in the evening the technican was running late he called to reschedule for first thing the next morning I gave him a pass.) This most recent service was scheduled for Monday, January 29th at 8am. I received a text at 5am stating allow a 30 minute window due to traffic. I confirmed the text at 7:33am. I called the office at 10:26am because the technican had not arrived. The female replied by asking was the technican at our home, that's why I'm calling, before putting me on hold. She returned to the phone stating the technican left 30 minutes ago that he had car trouble and had to get another vehicle. At 11:04am the technican called my phone stating he would be at our home in 45 minutes. The technican arrived at 11:50. We had an 8am appointment I called the office after 2 1/2 hours of no contact. It's called a courtesy phone call. Had I not been at home I would have had to reschedule and PAY for another service visit. I had to reschedule my plans. I did not request the furniture to be assembled to the wall but I did expect the brackets to be attached to the furniture for my choosing. Really disappointed in the service received. Later I called the office left messages about the poor service received of course no answer or reply. read more

DON'T USE THEM. They didn't show when they were suppose to and didn't call. So they arranged to come out the next day and instead of giving me a set time like they did when I booked their services, they gave me a 3 hour window. When I said that wasn't acceptable they then changed it to a 2 hour window. We settled the issue by agreeing their crew would call when they were on their way as this was not my home and I would have to travel to the location. Of course, no phone call and I was not there when they arrived. This is a problem as they charge hourly. Once the men arrived, the job was to take apart desk sets so that they could move the desk to an upstairs location. They decided they were not going to not take some pieces apart and in the process they dig holes in the walls all the way up the stairs. The dry wall had just been installed 2 weeks prior. When upstairs they dropped a piece of furniture and put a big gash in the newly refinished hardwood floors. After 2.5 hours they had dismantled one desk and had not managed to put it completely back together. They had ABSOLUTELY no clue what they were doing and could not figure out how to disassemble the desk, let alone put it back together. On top of it all, the company calls me in the middle of this disaster to charge me additional money because their crew was there longer than expected. WARNING! Under no circumstances should you consider hiring this company! I read the reviews on Yelp after I had already booked and paid for their services, and could not get out of it. In hindsight, I wish I had swallowed the $530 and used a different company. I hired them to install a murphy bed in my home. The first guy came out and was perfectly nice and seemingly competent, but told me that a second team would need to come back and cut the baseboard and finish mounting it. That team came back two days later and had absolutely no idea what they were sent to do. They did not have the right equipment. They suggested I call the main office. The woman on the other end of the phone was rude, did not take the time to understand the issue, and then hung up. Thankfully, the crew improvised and removed my baseboard entirely so that they could finish the job. The customer service is reprehensible, but I am grateful to the guys who did their best in a less than ideal situation. They deserve four stars, but the company deserves -4. read more

Do not use this company, ever. I contracted them via amazon services for a patio furniture assembly to occur on Friday, May 12th, between 11 and 2. I contacted them to confirm the appointment two days prior. It was confirmed. On the day of, I received no contact from them. At 2:15, I contacted them to inquire as to the whereabouts of the technician. Samantha said that she did not know when he would be there, nor could she tell me. I told her that this was unacceptable. After several phone calls and wasted time back and forth, she called me back at approximately 2:30 and told me that he would be there within a half hour. A half hour elapsed, and, surprise, no one showed. I called her back--she said that he would be there within another half hour. I told her this was unacceptable and that appointments were made to be kept. I offered her the opportunity to reschedule for tomorrow morning or Friday afternoon. She chose this morning at 9 am. I asked her if the technician would be here at 9 am sharp. She assured me that he would be. Lo and behold, 9 turned to 915 this morning and no technician showed. I checked my e-mail--they had rescheduled my appointment for between 8 and 11 this morning, which is not what we had discussed. Regardless, I elected to wait until around 11 am to contact them. At 1045, when no one had showed, I called the company via the two phone numbers that I had utilized yesterday. No one answered at either. I did some internet digging and found an alternate number that I called. Samantha answered again and told me that she would have to check on the technician's status. She called back several minutes later and said that he would be there at 1 pm. This is now four hours late for an appointment that they were already three hours late for yesterday. I told her that this, too, was unacceptable, and that I would expect someone here no later than noon today. I await her call back. At the time of this writing, I choose to see if they will even show at 1 pm. The degree of how awful this company is has reached beyond the depths of the absurd at this point. If you contract them via amazon services, contact amazon immediately and insist upon an alternative company that actually does what it advertises in an acceptable fashion. read more
