I will say he was in a less than ideal shape but not horrid. Hes been on a break since a Petco groomer had traumatized him by holding him for 5 hours when it should have been 2 ... in hindsight I think she had nicked him (on his privates!!!) and was not releasing him to me in time because he was likely still bleeding. Anywho... he got cleaned up here but I was charged $75 and a $3 CC fee (even though I used a debit card)... and my friend from the dog park (who has a twin of my Maltese though he is technically a Coton) told me they had charged her $65. I should have gotten an itemized receipt and not just a copy of the machine charge amount and looked closely at his trim to get the tweaks done there. Oddly they also did not take the residential contact info or dog demographics like breed, age and record the service and cut as most of these groomer businesses do as if they expect repeat business. Also did not ask for more than a phone number and last name when I made the original appointment. Nor asked for proof of vaccination or at least rabies... note: dog park membership pass should be like a TSA pre-check since the Park District makes you jump thru every hoop annually. The level of professionalism and process seems to need work but they are a newly minted SB and conveniently located so will keep an open mind for now.

Occasionally forget to trim nails. I would give 5 stars because I really like the groomers, but the only thing that drives me crazy is the trainer in the lobby. While I realize she is trying to run a business, it's terrible to arrive for check in for grooming and being told "don't do this. Stand away from this dog. etc. etc." I want to be understanding, but the last visit it got downright rude. Perhaps there is not enough space? Maybe there is a more conducive location? Not sure, but I do know that our pups are scared enough to come to the groomer and when we arrive we are trying to keep them calm with calm voices because they can sense everything.

We boarded our healthy but elderly dog for a week at this facility. We boarded her here before without incident and always informed the handlers about her chronic conditions, but not life threatening conditions (bronchitis, arthritis and partial deafness). Before the week was over and on Christmas day (the day before we were due to pick her up) we received a text message (because why would anyone pick up the phone these days) informing us that our dog had diarrhea and had literally soiled all over herself. We asked whether we could pick her up right away in response to their text but were told that we should wait a couple of hours. After we brought her home our dog vomited several large rubber bands and bile and started shaking uncontrollably, followed by more diarrhea. We promptly took her to the emergency vet and spent hours there and many hundreds of dollars in testing, including an ultrasound the following morning, to treat her dehydration and to make sure that our dog had expelled all of the foreign matter from her system. We informed the Dog Stop of these facts and received a "poor dog" text in response, claiming that they were "investigating the matter." No phone call or any offer to make things right by this facility. The negligence of this business and their staff have caused pain and discomfort to our (former therapy) dog who has precious little time left on this Earth. I am outraged and how little concern they have shown for our animal and would never ever let any animal near this facility.

Today I had my 13-year old Havanese groomed at Rover's Place, and I'm thrilled…read more After a brutal groom at Wags on Willow (reviewed separately), our vet suggested Rover's, and I'm so glad. My senior dog can't take epic grooming sessions, and her hair was choppy and uneven after her last groom. Her ears and tail had been weirdly shaved, and I wasn't sure we'd be able to make her look normal again during her lifetime. The staff at Rover's is friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. The groomer we saw today has been grooming for 18 years, and had my sweet pup groomed in 45 minutes--and it's the best cut she's had in years. She did what she could to round out her ears, and to help set her up with a cut she can grow back into and look like herself again. My dog is fluffy, soft, adorable, and HAPPY! As a side note, all of the groomers there today were being so warm and friendly with the dogs in their care. I even saw one groomer sitting on the floor keeping a dog company while it waited for its owner. We will be going to Rover's for our grooming from now on!!

We boarded our 2 yo baby here over the summer after doing a trial day with them, where she did…read morewell. She is a dopey but strong dog, and super sweet and her definition of playing with other dogs frequently involves jumping over them, something we have beenn working on. Up until her boarding experience, she had successful play dates with doggy friends, ran around at the dog park with friends, overall did well. During her stay, we were out of the country. After a successful trial and all the positive reviews, we were confident she would do well. It was not her first time boarding, just her first time at Rovers. Well - in checking in with the Webcam, we would find that she would be let into the group room for moments, jump and then be created for 30 minutes or more at a time - repeatedly. Meaning she would get minutes of free time per day to play or get energy out. This went on every time we checked until I finally contacted them to ask what was going on. I totally understand needing to separate dogs that create issues with the group, but she was there for 10+ days and this went on every day. SHe was getting little to no interaction, just punishment from what we observed. After communicating with the team there via email, I felt slightly more confident although still a little worried. While traveling home, we found out she had been in a scuffle with another dog and was at the vet ER. While serious, this was also downplayed. When we finally got to her 24 hours later, she was shaved, in a cone, with stitches all over and on pain meds. She has not been the same since :-( A few months later and we are seeing residual issues. Out of the blue she sometimes growls or lunges at people she knows (outside of our family) each time looking like she feels as though she needs to protext herself. These are people she had spent time with here and there before without issue. She needs more encouragement to be able to perform certain things (climbing stairs, going outside) than she ever needed before (to note, she is a rescue we had had for 10 months before she was attacked at Rovers). She is scared of more things than before, irrationally hiding at times from things she was previously used to (my child practicing an instrument, the sound of the garage opening). I don't know for certain what really happened, we were never really informed, but all in all my baby girl is showing signs of trauma she didn't have before. We feel so bad that we left her there, and certainly caution others to do the same.

But they really stood out with their care for our 17 year old, Bailey. Bailey had been showing his age, and standing for grooming was hard for him. When this first happened, they would always ensure he spent the least amount of time possible there and he was almost always ready before 11 a.m. Later, they adjusted the cut they gave him so he didn't have to stand so long. We had Bailey at Carriage Hill for grooming a couple weeks ago. While he was there, he had a seizure (he'd had a couple before and was on medication for them, not at all the fault of Carriage Hill). They called us to come pick him up. When we got there, Francine asked us for his leash so she could comfort him with a familiar smell when they picked him up. They carried our sweet boy to us and Francine was very kind when I asked, "is it time?" We made the difficult decision every dog owner dreads but it was clear that he was having more bad days than good ones. That experience made it crystal clear to me that the team at Carriage Hill really does care about the animals in their care and they make their living doing something that they are passionate about. I can't thank them enough for the kindness they showed us that day and can't wait for the day we're able to bring a new puppy there for grooming.
