I took a lot of time to think about how to approach this, as I don't usually write poor reviews on a place, but this is an exception. I took my dog here for ~2 years, and each time, the cuts were very good. Unfortunately, on 1 visit last August, my dog returned home and had razor burns and cuts all over his underbody. While we were informed of the cut they did to his penile area, as you can see from the photos, it was all over his body. Clearly no care was given to the dog and the place just kept on cutting. This was very upsetting. When I asked the team for a refund or an apology, none was provided. I took the dog to the Vet where he received antibiotics so that the cuts did not spread for an infection. A simple apology and maybe some form of discount would have been nice, especially since we had been going there for years, but none was offered. Very upsetting way to do business and I would just be careful if you send a dog here. read more

Update: second visit! We let the dog get really shaggy and despite regular brushing, he still had some matting. Nicole had to cut him shorter than expected as a consequence, and he still looked terrific! Really both cuts we've gotten here have been delightful. Also the dog seems happy afterwards, and the shop seems professional and like a safe space for dogs. Would easily recommend FURology to anyone. read more

Despite over 22 years of grooming experience and a rep to back that up -- Nicole nonetheless contacted my last groomer for Bichon grooming tips and insight about the style we like BEFORE cutting them. I used to like going to this place to get my goldendoodle groomed, but the lady who used to work there isn't there anymore, and the woman who is there now is super rude and condescending. She claimed my dog was matted when he wasn't and gave him the ugliest haircut I've ever seen. She kept saying he was a mess and ugly. I will not be returning to furology. If you want to keep customers, do what they ask you to do and stop being rude and condescending. She was also super mean to my dog and kept getting annoyed with him. Furology in Ridgewood is a very unprofessional establishment. When your leave your pet in the hands of a groomer, you expect them to be gentle and friendly to your dog. My dog is a sweet loving Collie. Furology muzzled my dog, then kept her in a cage that was too small for her. Her heavy collie coat was still damp. My collie was so traumatized, she was scared to go back in the car the next day. They were rude to me when I picked up my dog by saying "you think your dog is so great but she was awful". Her previous groomer loved her (we recently moved). I take great care in choosing who takes care of my dog, these people really went under my radar. They said they had a collie and sounded nice while making the appointment. Today, they charged my card stating I had an appointment. There was no text or reminder before today so that I could say no. They just charged my card without my permission saying no show. I didn't even know they scheduled an appointment. Very underhanded and fraudulent practice. Be warned these are not the kind people to care for your dog. Their practice is unethical and fraudulent. There are many other groomers. read more

On the first Nicole shaved our little dog but we thought maybe we did not explain clearly what expected him to look like. So on our second visit we clearly told her not to shave him again. We waited half hour outside the store and I saw 2 dogs that left the store looking also shaved. Plus first visit she charged $50.00 and on the second $70.00 without any explanation. If that's the best Furology can do I can't recommend this place to anyone who cares how their pet looks. read more
