I can't wait to leave this review.... my cat is currently boarding here for 4 nights while I am away in Texas. It was extremely last minute and they were super accommodating. I've worked at a pet resort as a kennel technician before and that place was AWFUL and so I know the ins and outs and what goes on at these places. I forgot who I spoke with over the phone but I called for a tour of the cattery, got there and Haley (sp?) showed me around and was incredibly sweet and reassuring. I adopted my cat from the humane society not even a year ago so I was very hesitant about boarding him but the environment of the whole facility is small and staffed well so I wasn't too concerned about my boy, Rhett, getting the attention he needs and deserves or him adjusting to his weekend living situation. I called to ask them to put Rhett in the play room so I can watch him on webcam, to my surprise, he was already in there being played with! Which I think is awesome because aside from webcam time, he's still getting out of his kitty condo. As I watched the webcam, Rhett was just a little shy but I saw Haley come in and hand one of the other employees his brush and she started brushing him and he came right out and stayed out! The fact that they were making an effort to make him so comfortable was the best feeling ever. I am a FREAK about my boy and yes I am THAT pet owner, lol. But I couldn't wait till the end of his stay to leave this review because I was just so happy with the way they take care of their furry guests. Left my 2 kitties here four day I called on the second day and checked how they were doing they lady that answered the phone said they were doing great . The day I went to pick them up I peeked inside and my cats were in separate condos! I had asked day one before I even made a reservation that they have the divider taken out so they could be together and make the experience less stressful. I asked the lady why my cats had the divider in and she told me they put it in so make sure they would use the litter box. I understand the staffs need to put the divider in but why wasn't I notified?! I spent my trip thinking my cats were sleeping together and were able to walk from one condo to another! read more

This review is not for the facility but my interaction with Hailey several months ago . I was soooo wanting to love this place. It came highly recommended from someone who takes her 2 puppies there for daycare. I noticed that they offered a free daycare session to try the place. I made an appointment to bring my puppy in. My plan was to start brining 2 of my dogs there 3 times a week for daycare if all went well. I work night shift and this would of been nice to do while I sleep.On the day of the free trial, I brought in the required documents and filled out the paperwork required. I noticed Hailey seemed frazzled and annoyed that she had to stop what ever she had been doing to come help me. I let it go. I mentioned as I left my puppy with her that my puppy may be scared because she's not use to being left anywhere with out me. I get to my house and about 15 minutes had passed and I get a call. I'm told I have to come back and pick up my dog because she won't stop barking and crying. I was confused and asked where was she placed that caused her to do that. She tells me in a kennel. I'm like ok so she is probably scared but once she gets to do playtime she will be fine. Nope I'm told I need to get my dog now. I figured because this was a free session, it wasn't worth her time? Maybe I caught her on a bad day? Believe me I'm pretty easy going and if that day was not a good day, I would of rescheduled. But then I started to get worried she didn't like my puppy and figured it was best to get her ASAP. Sad because this place is near my house. I have several dogs and I spend money on them for boarding and daycare. I had read glowing reviews about how well the facility dealt with anxious dogs/puppies etc... The even bigger disappointment was I never heard back from the manager for a follow up. I understand things are harder during COVID but it doesn't excuse being rude. read more

On August 12th, I was called home from work because my dog Bella had vomited 5 times in 6 hours, was lethargic, excessively panting & twitching in obvious discomfort. My elderly mother was told there were no emergency appointments available from Cuyamaca Animal Hospital who has been Bella's vet since she was 8 weeks old. When I got home, I saw my pet in extreme distress and was at a loss of what to do even with my vast medical background as a RN for 27 years. I have boarded Bella at Furry Friends pet resort several times a year since she was 4 months old and all of the staff there treat Bella like family. Feeling helpless I called Furry Friends to speak to the manager Stephanie for any advice or direction of what to do for my sick family member. I was able to speak with Tori who knows Bella quite well from boarding. After explaining what was wrong with Bella, Tori went above & beyond to ensure that my Bella was seen by one of the vets from Cuyamaca Animal Hospital. When I arrived with Bella for her emergency visit, Tori came right out to see Bella and how I was doing. She was the communicator with the animal hospital staff and was with Bella during the exam by Dr. Hyatt & while she received SQ intravenous fluids. She treated my dog as if she was her own pet. Tori brought Bella out when she was ready to go & I could see how comfortable Bella felt with a familiar face being at her side. Being an RN I know how distressing illness in a loved one can be and the importance of compassionate care. Tori is an exceptional employee that demonstrated competence and compassion to myself & Bella. I have always felt confident in the care Bella receives during boarding and will not bring her anywhere else or even consider an in-home pet sitter. Cuyamaca Animal Hospital is very lucky to have Tori as a member of the pet resort team. I am indebted to her for helping my baby Bella during an emergency and being honestly concerned about her health & welfare. Kudos to Tori & the staff at Furry Friends Pet Resort. They honestly treat your pet like family during boarding and should be valued as exceptional employees. read more

I had recently experienced surgery and an extended stay in a nursing facility. Furry Friends took care of my Doberman Adel for the whole stay and they were awesome. I was in the facility next door to the resort so my son could check out my girl and bring her to visit me. The team at the resort regularly sent me photos of my girl at play. I don't usually put a review on here but the service at this place is bad. We had to schedule a room with this facility at last minute and i had to send them my dogs vaccination list. The night before I called and verified they received all their shots, the next day when we showed up somehow now one of my dogs was missing a vaccination so in order to make it to our own hotel reservation we had to pay for a doctors visit and a vaccination so they could stay there. Also the place charged us for a day and half without specifying, they said it was on their packet and on the invoice. This speech sounded so rehearsed that you could tell the employee says it on a daily basis. The two employees we dealt with were both rude and pissed off when we spoke with them about our concerns or problems. Also we paid for a luxury room for the webcam feature, they turned the webcams off after 730pm. read more

We have left our crazy puggle Marley at the Furry Friends Resort quite a few times, and love it. The pricing is a bit higher than other places, but we like the fact that the Resort is run by our vet. I've boarded my dog with Furry Friends on several occasions when I was traveling out of town, and will continue to bring her here anytime! The staff is so nice, friendly, and informative. They ask you about your dog before you drop them off, and when you pick them up, they give you plenty of information about how your pup did, if they ate their food, if they played with the other dogs, etc. It's always nice to know if your dog enjoyed themselves while you were away instead of just sitting scared in a kennel. My dog is very shy and has some separation anxiety, but the staff always seems to put her at ease and make her stay an enjoyable one. I also like that they offer a regular kennel or an upgraded suite with a web cam, as well as add ons for your pet to enjoy while you're gone. I usually opt for an extra walk and a bath for my pup. She always returns to me soft, clean, and with an adorable pink bandanna tied around her neck. My dog loves it at Furry Friends and I appreciate all their hard work and dedication to making her feel safe and comfortable! read more

While away on vacation, we quickly needed to find a new place for our corgi to stay for a week, as our doggy sitter situation couldn't continue. I knew of Furry Friends, but had never used it or any boarding facility for this dog or our previous dog. When I called, Valentina was friendly, understanding, and gave me all the information I needed. Winnie was dropped off that day, and stayed there for a week. Stephanie was great and texted adorable pictures of her enjoying playtime with other small dogs. My Mom was able to visit and see how well she was doing. Her room was a good size, and she was able to have her own bed, blanket, and toys. We picked up a very happy dog, and I know she will be happy to be a guest there again for our future vacations. read more

I LOVE my cat, and am very picky about where I leave my animals. I tried this place since it is also my vet office. I checked the resort out before leaving my cat here, and it was very clean, and the staff obviously love animals. They allowed me the time I needed to say goodbye, and they let me bring my cats favorite blanket. They took very good care of my kitty. She wasn't spooked at all when I picked her up. I board my dog here everyday and he is A LOT to handle. I am completely indebted to Dr. Martin and her team of techs. EVERYONE here treats my pup soooo well and they bend over backwards to make sure that his needs are being met (and there are many!). They are very flexible and know that your pet means the world to you. For me, with a dog that needs special care, this kind of place is one in a million. Also, knowing that there is a vet on hand at all times provides a great level of comfort and security. I've recommended this place to everyone I know and haven't heard of a less than wonderful experience yet. read more

Our sweet and loyal girl Mocha (3yo) has been to Furry Friends Resort whenever we go on vacation (1-2 times a year). The staff have always been friendly and professional and Mocha seems to enjoy going there when we drop her off. I have never written a review before but because of the superior service Mocha and our family just received I feel compelled to let other animal lovers/pet owners know about this resort. Our vacations are usually 3-6 days long, but this time we took a 10 day road trip to San Francisco and Mocha, who is sooooo loyal and loving, started to become sad and stopped eating, Im sure due to wondering where her family had gone. =( We were in communication with the staff everyday as they called to keep us up to date with her care and try to think of anything that would help her to feel better(and yes, we were able to come up with a plan). Nicole was exceptionally great and caring with Mocha, and even gave her a little trim (with our permission) and noticed a rash at her hind leg where a foxtail had been stuck. Dr Martin at the facility was able to treat the area and also helped Mocha with her anxiety. We were able to see Mocha on the web cam and felt relief that she was in such good, caring hands. Upon return from our trip, Mochas smile lit up the room! I just wanted to take the time and say THANK YOU to everyone at Furry Friends~ they really do care about the animals and anyone should feel confident in using this Resort for their beloved Furry Friend! read more

Furry Friends Resort is like Disneyland for pets! Honestly, I don't know what I would do without this wonderful place. It is clean, cheerful and fun and has the most amazing staff I have ever seen. They really do care about your pets. There is never a worry when I drop my two German Shepherds off every week to play at daycare. I appreciate the attention to detail by the staff and the concern they have for every animal, no matter how big or small. My 3 year old has developed social skills with other animals and other people that he would not have developed without the opportunity to play at Furry Friends. He recognizes his playmates there and has a wonderful time, EVERY time. I can leave my dogs at this resort without fear of them getting hurt or being neglected or ignored. They are tired and satisfied with their day when they flop into the back seat of the car and sleep all the way home. They love the treats, the toys, the baths and nail trims too! I got my dog as a one year old rescue & he'd never been around other dogs & few people. He was scared to death of everyone, especially other dogs. My vet suggested taking him to a good doggie day care as a safe way of getting him used to other dogs. The 1st time I took him, he shook with fear, peed & stuck by my leg. It was hard to leave him but Stephanie, who runs Furry Friends, assured me she would take good care of him. By the 3rd time I took him to Furry Friends, he couldn't wait to get there! Now, after 2 years, it's his favorite place to be when he's not with me. There are several other dogs that come regularly that Buddy loves to play with & he wears himself out. He falls asleep in the car on the way home. I continue to take him once a week to keep him socialized & to see his friends:) I also board him there when I have to go out of town & he loves it!
