I am so grateful for Sunny Pets and the owner, Jon! My sweet pup, Ginger, has a long history of separation anxiety but she absolutely adored Jon from the first meeting. We had tried various sitters and boarding places but Sunny Pets is the first one where I can tell Ginger is genuinely comfortable and feels at home, and the level of attention and care provided here is unmatched. I recently left Ginger here for over two weeks while I went on vacation and I knew she was in excellent hands. Jon is very responsive and communicative, and he shared videos of Ginger living her best life and playing with other dogs. She looked like she was having more fun than she does when I'm around! DO NOT LEAVE YOUR PET WITH JON. I arrived to leave my 12-year-old Australian Shepherd with Jon. He lives in a very unsafe part of City Heights- not the address on his business license. He was very condescending from the first second because I had not responded to his most recent message on his app- he will only communicate on his app not by phone or text. When he confronted me about not responding to his latest pickup message, he became hostile, condescending, and extremely disrespectful. The interaction escalated into a yelling match and left me so unsettled that I decided not to leave my dog with him. I had a bad feeling about him in general. Afterward, I found his publicly accessible OnlyFans account. Although separate from his pet-sitting services, this discovery added to my discomfort. Our dog had only ever stayed with family before this trip so we were more than a little nervous to hire someone to care for her. As soon as we met Jon we knew he was the right person to watch Cali. I'm so incredibly grateful to have found Jon & Sunny Pets for boarding my Isla girl! We moved to San Diego recently and were super worried about finding someone to take care of her during our trips as Isla doesn't do well in commercial facilities and can be quite timid with new people. Ummm what? I just had the strangest interaction when I was asking about daycare for my puppy. I told the owner that my brand new puppy was still getting his vaccines (3 months old, still on 2nd shot of Parvo since you have to wait for all the doses). He asked if I'm an antivaxxer and if I believe in human covid. Like I'm literally trying to explain which vaccines I'm getting for my own dog and then he wanted to know about my history and if I'm vaccinated - which I am, but my medical history is absolutely none of his business. What a strange and aggressive interaction for absolutely no reason. He got all bent out of shape for literally no reason. I would never send my dog here based on this, but to each their own. Looks like some people love this place and some do not. Note: as a business owner, you should probably at least keep your private views to yourself, or keep it out of the 1st conversation, especially when you're not even listening to the customer. Good luck! (EDIT to add insight into the owner's response): Look at the owner's comment below mine (and all the other poor reviews). Wow. Awful business owner who needs to be petty and argue against their poor reviews. Maybe google "soft skills" and respond politely or with insight rather than trying to come out as the winner of a perceived argument. Or check out my other 98%+ 4 and 5-star reviews since I love being on Yelp! and helping people find really great places, which yours certainly is not. How rude. Also, the crazy thing is you take screenshots these days. Attached is our actual conversation where you ask us if we're anti-vaxxers out of nowhere, as we're literally asking which vaccines you require and telling which ones we have (Liza is my fiance and we're both reaching out to find doggy day care, for reference). If your dog is like mine, you've tried other formats that place dogs in their crates for extended periods and limited outdoor exposure. I had a family emergency that called me away suddenly. Unfortunately my regular pet sitter was fully booked, so I had to find someone else very quickly. I contacted Sunny Pets and heard back from Jon right away. He was very understanding of the time line I had and was super responsive in helping me get everything set up in such a short time frame. One of my kitties requires daily medication, so Sara, who recently graduated from vet tech school was assigned to their care while I was gone. I cannot say enough great things about Jon and Sunny Pets. Initially, I wanted to find a safe place for my velcro pup, Bear, to have time away from me and learn that being separated can be a great thing :) Sunny Pets has turned into Bear's "second home", and he LOVES going to daycare! I work from home and really do not need to put Bear in daycare, but because he loves it so much and it's been so great for him to build his confidence and get the socialization he craves, he goes multiple times a week. Jon has also watched Bear for a couple of overnights, and I know he is looking after him as if Bear were his own. It was recommended by a friend we trusted, and after meeting Jon we had a good feeling about the care our dog was going to receive. We got to see our dog hanging out at the park everyday on social media while we were away, and came home to him very happy and tired! Sunny Pets is the best! Shortly after adopting our rescue, Bailey 'boy', my husband and I both had overnight work trips. We didn't (ever) want to board him in kennel facility, especially so soon after joining our family. Bailey LOVES other dogs, but is shy around new people. To our surprise, BB warmed up to Jon super quick at our first meet and greet. We we're convinced Jon was a dog whisperer and confident BB would be in great hands! We weren't wrong! Please beware of this company, and read this in its entirety: it may save you thousands in medical bills due to negligence! Do not sign your rights away by agreeing to Sunny Pets Contract Terms. Jon and Ray are liars and have zero integrity... We have known Ray since middle school, and entered into the agreement with blind trust, which was a huge mistake. Our dog was injured while in Jon and Ray's care. After they denied anything had happened while in their watch (in fact, they claimed our dog bit himself on his ear, citing "self-injury"), we went to court, and lost due to the Hold Harmless clause. Basically, you leave your pet in the care of these hacks, and they don't actually "care" OR "watch" your fur baby... our dog was filthy and smelled awful, had dog bites on his ear and an injured paw... all of which required sutures, antibiotics, cast, bandages... what a mess! They admitted they noticed the dog was limping; but did not take the time to examine the dog! Jon, the owner, didn't have the decency to answer our calls about the injuries! He claims to love dogs, says he is an expert in dog /pet care. This was one instance where his "expertise" was a huge fail. Jon's partner sated that he never heard any dogfights at their house (which is where they board the animals, and they are not up to code) Funny... they never heard my husband ringing the doorbell when dropping our dog off... they were asleep and the delay almost caused us to miss our flight! So how would either of these ineffectual people hear a dog fight? Look at the pictures below, you tell me if these injuries did not cause a yelp or cry? If you drop your dog off to be cared for, wouldn't you expect a call if there was an injury or accident? Would you expect the associates to pay close attention to your pet while in their care?
