Overall a pretty horrible experience. We thought the food was pretty much inedible. Sweet sauce all over the sushi, limp and slimy shishito peppers and even the salad dressing was overly sweet. The decor was that of a tacky strip club attempting to be "classy" in the 80's. To top it off, there were a bunch of tricked out BMWs and the like parked on the sidewalk right in front of the restaurant. I have enjoyed Fushimi in the past, never had a problem. I have had reservations or just walked in to eat and there was no problem maybe waited 10-15 minutes. I have even hosted birthday parties here for friends and relatives. I understand this pandemic is difficult for everyone in their own ways. But I have never seen this place so understaffed. The outdoor seating looks like a nice setup but it is not accommodating at all to the people who are looking for some normalcy during this chaotic time. You NEED a reservation to eat here now with outdoor seating and even then you still have to wait. I didn't have a reservation because I figured they had so much space it would be as I was told 15-20 minutes. I waited an hour and I even proceeded to go get a drink on my own from the bar. Then, two couples who came after me and my boyfriend, who didn't have reservations either were seated before me. Why? I don't know. When I asked how much longer the host told me I was next and told me a name which wasn't the one that was given. So... I guess I was forgotten about. So make a reservation but you may have to wait at least an additional time up to 15-20 minutes (but who knows what that means). Even the one bartender looked overwhelmed and the two women taking orders over the phone and getting them ready. I have always enjoyed the food at Fushimi but this just left a bad taste in my mouth. I would suggest they hire or re-hire more staff. read more

I do not normally rate restaurants but I feel the need to go out of my way because of how terrible my experience was... Our first order was the seaweed salad. It was very watery and over seasoned. We asked the waiter about the dish and he admitted it was frozen and not made in house. We returned it. Our experience went downhill from there... the specialty roll combinations did not make sense together and there was too much mayo. I tried a piece of the two rolls I ordered and could not eat anymore. I do not consider myself a picky eater. The quality of the fish did not fit the price tag. We spent $200 for 4 people and it was one of the worst meals of my life. If I could've returned everything I would have. I do not understand how this restaurant is so highly ranked. They must pay people to review this place because it sucks. I went out of my way to try to help anyone avoid going through a similar experience. read more

I have to say I am always impressed with Fushimi. However, I wasn't feeling well tonight and was craving some miso soup so I came to Fushimi expecting to simply place an order and leave; instead I found myself chatting with the incredible bartender who even helped me pick what I would order, suggested some food for me, suggested some food allergy medications and got me some hot sake. I left feeling like I had just hung out at a friends house. I always viewed Fushimi as a "going out" only restaurant but tonight it felt like home. Officially the weirdest restaurant I've been to in a long time, possibly ever. If I could give them 0 stars I would!!! My friend and I arrived for a quick girls lunch, the restaurant was completely empty at 1pm. We celebrate Passover so have some dietary restrictions currently. My friend requested that bread be left off her plate in observance of the holiday, the waiter got nasty with her and said it's impossible, when she asked him to ask the chef he refused to do that because he knows they would say no. She then spotted another menu item, a steak that was served over mashed potatoes, she asked if the potatoes can be substituted for vegetables? He said absolutely not because if they did it for her than they would have to do it for everyone. She was shocked into speechlessness while I started putting my order in. After ordering I requested to speak to the manager and was told he was busy downstairs. A few minutes later he arrived and I calmly asked if it was possible to have the mashed potatoes substituted for vegetables? The manager gave me a bunch of excuses as to why not including that the head chef Mr Kong doesn't allow substitutions. I calmly explained that I have traveled the world and have eaten in many restaurants where it has never been a problem subistituting potatoes for vegetables or leaving bread off a plate and that I will have no choice but to leave a negative review on Yelp. He got frustrated with me and told me fine, he would substitute the vegetables but it would cost us extra. We readily agreed. We started eating our starters and my friend mentioned that the people who arrived after us were already eating their mains and I looked at my watch to realize we'd been waiting for our entree for almost an hour. All of a sudden the manager comes up to me and announces that there was something wrong with my steak during cooking and that he wouldn't want to serve it to me and if I could select something else from the menu? At this point i was shocked and my friend asked for the check so we can pay for the appetizers and leave. The manager said don't worry about it and we left a tip that was very much undeserved I might add and left. My friend and I ended up in a cute restaurant down the street shocked about what just happened. Avoid it at all costs!! read more

I love the AAC rolls, and avacado peanut rolls, also the steamed vegetable dumplings! I been going to Fushimi for a while now, the food is always consistent. They have a great lunch special and the atmosphere is very nice. I have been to fushimi for it's ladies night special - $1 drinks. Needless to say there are a ton of kids in there with fake id's but it's ok if you are just with your friends hanging out. You can not be seated and get the $1 drink special. Anyway, I would usually eat there before the special started and stay for a few cocktails then get the hell out of there when the teens get wild. read more

A great place to go on a date or hangout with friends. Nestled in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn this place is a hidden gem. The rolls are creative and the drinks are worthwhile. Even the desert was good. If you go, order the Creme Brule. It's variety of three minature pies served in one seating and for the modest price of $6. So worth the cost. The decor is Asian inspired sexiness without trying to hard like most Bay Ridge eateries. Take my advice, its worth the trip. read more

I'm not an Asian fusion fan usually because I have a ton of food allergies and have been to other fusion restaurants where there was nothing I could eat. I was talked into trying this one about a year ago and I'm happy I did. They had many things on the menu that I can eat. Great decor, nice atmosphere, the staff is friendly, the waitresses/waiters are attentive and the services is fast. The food is delicious and not the "typical" asian style. They have a short ribs appetizer that just melts in your mouth as does the King of Steak filet mignon served with a tasty sauce and crusted mashed potato which is really unique. I love lava cake and they make one that is excellent. Bay Ridge is a mecca for restaurants and I've eaten at many but I can say this is one stands out and I look forward to eating there. read more

I never put up reviews, but at the same time, I have never been soo disappointed with service and a meal until today. Waited 30 minutes before the server came by to get our order (me and my boyfriend). The food came out about 15-20 minutes after we ordered and the server messed up the order, so we had to wait an aditional 10 minutes. The man that was originally serving us did not come back to check on us the entire time (another waitress did) until we payed then he came back. I addressed the waitress that was tending to us after our original server ditched us on the horrible service and she did not seem interested in what I had to say. My wife and I absolutely love this sushi bar. It has a nice trendy décor and a romantic atmosphere. Even though the music tends to be loud at times, it only adds to the overall experience and makes it more fun. The food is great. Try their signature special rolls. They also have a nice bar and can pretty much make any cocktail drink you want. Ate here on a Thursday night with a friend. Unusual decor but relaxed and interesting. Service was good. Manhattan ambiance. I had the Chicken Teriyaki and a fruity drink. My companion had the exotic sushi dishes. All in all a different dining experience but dinner for 2 was $100. The $6 chocolate ice cream was good and so was the fruity alcoholic drink. If you are brought to Fushimi blindfolded, you would never guess that this place was in Bay Ridge Brooklyn. The decor, the vibe and ambience are all very chic, city-like. But alas, you are, unfortunately, still in the Ridge. That aside, the sushi, esp their special rolls, are top notch. The black (squid ink?) risotto is delicious. A meal for two with some sake will probably come out to $100, so it is definitely not cheap. But at least you save on the metrocard fare and the subway commute if you feel like 'going out' for sushi but you don't want to make the trek into the city. What a let down. I will start by saying all the hype about this place, is just that "hype." Went to this restaurant tonight just to try something I haven't had in Bay Ridge yet. We walked in and it was pretty much what we had expected from what everyone had told us. I will say we were a little excited, cause who doesn't love a new experience. Sadly it was shortly lived. Of all the places in Bay Ridge that I have sat down in this is probably one of my worst experiences. ( And I once found a super long creepy hair in my food at a diner, but that's for later.) Still to this moment I have no clue what my waiters name was, cause he never once said hello, introduced himself, or even welcomed us. After we took our last bite of our appetizer he was there in seconds to take the plate, giving us no time to even adjust to what had just happened. We of course shook it off. Finally the end of the meal comes, and he drops the check, we pay and then he just drops it on the table and leaves, no thank you, no have a good day, no type of acknowledgment what so ever. The service combined with the mediocre sushi made my dinner experience a waste of time and money. I will say this. Had I had a different waiter, and different experience, this could of went a totally different way. Guess I'll never know. Pros: Drinks were good Cons: Service. A friend of mine recommended this place, so I decided to check it out yesterday. The inside of this restaurant is actually very nice. I liked the atmosphere a lot, but the food was just not up to par. I started with their bisque, but it was too peppery. I didn't hate it, but I've had much better bisque at diners, so I expected great bisque here. I then ordered their crabmeat and avocado salad. The crabmeat was dry, the avocado was not properly ripe, and the sauce was too thin and lemony. I tried 2 rolls at this place, and 1 of them can barely be critiqued because it contained almost no fish. Id say about 70% of this roll was just cucumber. I expect a decent amount of fish in a roll of sushi, especially when its a "special" roll. The second roll I ordered was the Fushimi roll. This was the best thing I tried all night, but it was just average. All in all, it's a nice place to bring a date, but I've had better food at hole in the wall sushi spots. read more

Used to come here all the time about 5-7 years ago, came back for the first time in years with my GF and had the worst time ever. The 2 special rolls tasted worse then the regular rolls at my local sushi place. The lobster bisque soup, was mediocre and was filled with tiny shrimp that you by at a local stop and shop.
