We have been coming to this place for a while and it's always spot on when it comes to the quality of the food. Some of our favorites are salon and tuna Japanese pizzas, fancy tuna, coconut shrimp and you can't go wrong with their special rolls. Sashimi is always extremely fresh and delicious. We usually go for sake but Japanese beers and plum wine make for nice supplements to their delicious flavors. At this point, staff feel like good friends. Absolutely awful. So bear with me. A month ago I took my mom out to lunch at Mitoushi - Kings Highway area. We were amazed. We got duck salad, coconut shrimp appetizer, dynamite appetizer. Service was great too. Place is nice although too loud for daytime lunch. But the food was amazing and we were happy overall. Forward to today. May 2025. I think they have a different chef. Got same plus I also ordered sunomono combo appetizer. Starting with sunomono, it was terrible. They threw 2 pieces of rubber octopus, 2 pieces of disgusting herring, 2 pieces of fake crabmeat, and one anorexic shrimp into a huge fancy bowl-plate kinda thing. I forgot to take pics of that monstrosity. Then they brought the duck salad. Although I didn't intend to post this review at first, I at least took pics of the horrific duck that was inside that salad. First, the salad they brought was extremely spicy. It wasn't spicy last time. We asked for replacement and they did change it, giving us ginger dressing instead on the side. But it was a roasted duck salad, right? Actually, there was no duck. It was duck skin throughout - fat, rubbery duck skin. Whatever small pieces of duck were there, they were tasteless and looked old and dried up. There was a problem with dynamite as well. By the time they brought it out, the cheese dried up and what is supposed to be soft, goowy cheese appeared to be a hard mass of old cheese. Coconut shrimp were too dry. So, basically, we gave them a gift of $70 for horrible food neither one of us enjoyed. Perhaps the other Mitoushi (e.g. Sheephead or Coney Island ave) are good but I suggest staying away from this one. Very disappointing!!!!! read more

I came here on a Friday night. It was super busy. I should have placed the order online but I just walked in. I ordered a Seafood soup and a Sweet Potato Roll. I sat and waited a long time for my order which I was not pleased with especially since the lady behind me who place a huge order got her stuff before me. Okay, fine. No biggie. They just forgot about me. My order was simple. Not complex. My issue with this was the sweet potato roll they made was a mess. Was it made by a new chef? It was very sloppy. Been ordering from this place for awhile and have not left a review. Well here it is! This is our go to for sushi every Wednesday night. They have plenty of sushi rolls and mouth-watering appetizers and entrées to choose from. Have not been disappointed yet. Their fast delivery service makes me wonder, do they make their sushi fresh? Yes, we have enjoyed every morsel we ordered from them. Their delivery guys are always pleasant and handle our order well. Would love to eat here one day, and I'm sure I won't be disappointed. Came here for lunch with my cousin and daughter. It wasn't crowded and we were able to put my stroller at the table and remove the chair. We each ordered the lunch special which was $13.95 each. I was preparing a end of the year brunch for a total of 16 employees for the summer. I was nervous preparing a location to include 16 employees - especially because a couple of the employees had food allergies. Vincent and Steven really put me at ease when booking our lunch in, and also allowed us to order our dishes before we arrived on Saturday. Not only was the food delicious for what it is, but the review includes the service I received from all the staff that was there. Though I have been a good customer of Mitoushi for over ten years, today the owner raced after me when I came for lunch and headed to the rest room, and he loudly scolded me and made a scene. Why? Out of panic that I might use the rest room for free and not be a paying customer today? Or even may make a mess in there (but so might any paying customer)? Today, as most days, I am cleanly dressed and groomed. Also, they should know my face. Also they should know that the very worst fears they might have are very low stakes compared to ending a relationship with a customer. Probably the best I've ever had. *covid - I discovered this place during the covid pandemic. They don't allow for indoor dining but that wasn't a problem since I was getting it to go. Really bad food :( , this place used to be the greatest spot in the neighborhood now it's overpriced for such bad quality, sushi were not fresh at all everyone felt sick the minute we got home, Kani salad had spoiled cucumbers, ginza roll was old stinky fish and white tuna roll was not fresh fish could tell the minute I put it in my mouth. This place isn't too far from my sister house so I come here every once in a while. Went last night with my son and as usual the food was good. We don't eat sushi so normally i get the shrimp teriyaki but last night I ordered the pineapple fried rice- it actually comes in a pineapple which is cool along with about 3 pieces of jumbo shrimp on top, scallops, crab meat, chicken through out it. It was great. Only wish they had sweet chili sauce since I'm obsessed with it. My son had reg chicken fried rice and we shared the pearl shrimp as an appetizer. I can't honestly say it's children friendly. More of a date night kinda feel or with your girls. But I don't care. My son loves his belly so I bring him almost everywhere with me to eat. Came here couple times already. Their raw fish is consistently fresh and pieces are decently sized. They're not big, but they're not too small either, as some other places tend to do. Wasabi cracker with salmon appetizer is something different, and tastes pretty good. Basically it's a mountain of minced salmon on top of a Wasabi cracker. Today, I also tried the ankimo (monk fish liver) cold appetizer. I ordered it thinking it was just raw ankimo sashimi, but it's actually not. It's an appetizer with ponzu sauce over it. It tasted OK but not what I was expecting. I just didn't read the description on the menu so my own fault. Also had the salmon hibachi lunch special. The piece of salmon was small, overcooked and dry. Did not enjoy it, although the sauce on the surrounding veggies were ok. Last time I came, i tried the salmon teriyaki. It was ok, nothing special. Overall, it's a nice place for raw sashimi but I can't speak much about the cooked food. My most recent visit was probably just a 3 star tasting experience, but I've had better dinners here and staff is nice, so 4 stars. read more
