Fussy Coffee almost felt hidden away in Science Park at Yale! It's a lovely cafe! The coffee bar is situated in the middle of the room so you see the baristas as soon as you walk in. From there, there's an abundance of seating literally everywhere. Either you face outward on the counters or have a seat at their large dining table or even in the lounge area where they have board games stacked on a shelf against the wall. They also have an assortment of items on the menu. I would never have guessed that they serve poke if I hadn't seen it there. As an alternative to ginger ale, baristas offered an off-menu item called the Lemon Oleo. It's absolutely delicious. We were told that it is something they make for themselves during their breaks. I was intrigued by the name of this coffee shop when I was visiting New Haven for the first time. Decided to dine-in because I love a good latte art. I ordered a Tokyo Flat White (espresso, white miso, tamari, condensed milk, cream, steamed milk, sesame seeds), which was delicious! Only thing I would say is that the white miso was not mixed/incorporated well and most of it was sitting at the bottom of the drink. Service was quick. Clean aesthetics. I love Fussy Coffee!!! This place is a little out of the way from the Yale campus which I personally think is great. It's right next to the canal trail. When the university is in session, it can be very busy and hard to find a table at peak times like around lunch. The cafe is bright with very tall windows that let in lots of sunlight. There are several smaller tables, some high top seating, and 2 long communal tables. For those who want to do work with laptops, beware that there aren't that many outlets! For beverages - I really like the coffee here. Their nitro cold brew is STRONG. They also have non-coffee drinks options. They often have interesting, seasonal special drinks. They also have alcoholic beverages, although I've never tried them myself personally. For food, they have lots of great options and are vegan/vegetarian friendly. Their fries are probably their best known food item. I ask for them to be extra cripsy because sometimes they come out a bit soggy. Their sauces are great too. #4 in my NEW ENGLAND & NY COFFEE SHOP SERIES One of my favorite coffee shops in New Haven! Great food, great coffee, and great vibes! Anytime I need a pick-me-up and a place to study, I always come here. They have all your classic coffee shop drinks and teas as well as seasonal speciality items. In the past I have gotten an iced coffee maple milk tea ($3.50) and the seasonal strawberry coffee cold brew. I have also tried their vanilla latte and dirty chai's which are equally good. It is not the best coffee I have ever had, but definitely a great choice. They also have tasty food! My personal favorite is the folded egg and cheese biscuit. But they have so many other breakfast and lunch items. They are also open late if you needed to study and eat for a long amount of time. I needed a place to get some work done and eat some lunch and I stumbled upon Fussy. The space is very warm with a lot of natural sunlight. I went on a Saturday morning during homecoming so it was quite busy and space can be tight inside, but I was able to get some work done. I ordered a quinoa bowl. The shrimp was delicious but everything else to me just tasted like it was just there would've liked some more flavor to it , but it is a healthy option. The Thai tea was all that I want in a thai tea, delicious, creamy, and rich. I was able to grab street parking even though it was crowded and there is a parking garage very close by. For reasons felt only by fellow food nerds, I'm trying to visit and review all the well known NH coffee spots. Fussy is a bit north of downtown in an area called Science Park. I was able to grab one of a few nearby street spots, but there is a nearby large parking garage that I assume was public. Fussy is part of a large building that I hear is part Yale, part startup businesses. Inside is nice and modern. Many people were working or hanging out at a decent number of tables. For warm weather, there is a nice courtyard out front with some seating as well. I ordered a Black Iced Coffee. I asked the person who helped me about the coffee used and he knew right away that is was a Seattle roaster Kuma. I appreciated his working knowledge of their coffee and the fact that they used a quality roaster that other CT coffee shops don't use. Service was friendly. The coffee wasn't one of my favorite flavor profiles, but it was smooth and well executed. I liked the branding, which looks like a snake pretzel handshake. I would definitely return to Fussy, but it is not especially convenient to other businesses I visit in New Haven. If you visit at a non-peak time, it actually offers quick in and out because of the street parking. 4.5 Stars read more

Fussy Coffee is a great local coffee shop for casual studying & meetups. The service is friendly and the shop has a nice vibe. The coffee/espresso here is on the sour side, so that is something to keep in mind based on your preferences. But the fries are a great crowd pleaser! Overall, the prices are high but standard for what we see in New Haven. There is also some limited free street parking nearby. Worth checking out if you're in the area. read more

I can't say enough great things about Fussy Coffee! I love eating and grabbing a drink here, the service is fantastic - the baristas are very cool, kind, and friendly. There is always a spot somewhere, even if it's a squeeze on a busy day, and the environment is very chill. I wish there were more couches or casual hangs, but it'd be difficult to accommodate enough people that way. It's a casual place to work away from home, though not particularly comfy/homey in the same way a Koffee? is. They play music, and depending on the mood you're in, it may be a bad playlist fit for your day, but I enjoy it. Parking is the most stressful part, but there is typically a street spot open as you approach OR, at least for now, there's a lot of open parking on Munson street, if you're willing to walk a little bit. Food? Excellent. Coffee? Excellent. A little expensive but that's the way New Haven seems to be. My favorite spot at the moment! read more

The food is fantastic and the ambiance is conducive to studying. I ordered the breakfast sandwich with sausage and extra of the salsa that came with it. My only "complaint" is that the AC is very cold. I suggest that if you plan to stay for a couple hours in the summer, bring a light sweater. We love this place. We live out of town but always visit when we're in New Haven. I see there's mixed reviews. However, I do think that the menu can be ambitious, which is a good thing! But creates hit or miss for some when you figure out what works for you it's always good. I love their tofu bahn mi, the basket of fries, breakfast burrito, and other things. The space has a bunch of seating, but it did not look the most comfortable as a lot of the seats didn't have backs. Both indoor and outdoor seating I got a vanilla latte and a breakfast sandwich. This is a beautiful coffee shop and a great place to get work done. It is often very busy, so if you walk in and see an open seat available, take it! It's a larger enough space that you can get some work done despite the amount of people who are there. If you're not a big coffee drinker, that's OK. They have amazing drinks. That aren't caffeinated. Such as the one in the photo the ginger lemon fog. Absolutely delicious. I had the grass fed burger, which was a decent size came with a delicious salad and a pickle. We visited fussy coffee this past weekend and we were so happy we did! I ordered a tumeric/golden latte and it was incredible. We also got the egg biscuit and my husband got the huevos rancheros. I really enjoyed this spot on Winchester avenue. It's very spacious inside. A lot of natural sunlight. Pretty limited but still great outdoor seating. Great food and the lattes are amazing. As I have kept myself from drinking a lot of expresso I do indulge in matcha lattes and I was very impressed with theirs. And while I love smoked salmon I enjoyed their sandwich with a fried egg. I did feel like they were a bit too many capers and raw onions on it and I'm not a huge fan of that. But if you asked me would I ever get it again, I would say definitely yes. It was tasty. I'm pretty skeptical when I see a new business with such high ratings, but it is easy to see why: good coffee, good food, huge but thoughtful menu, and chill vibe. They do a nice job with the space, which is a storefront in a huge parking garage in an area of New Haven that doesn't have a lot going on right now. But when you step inside, you're in a cool coffee shop with a minimal but creative decor. The menu's size surprised me both in terms of food and drink options. I opted for their weekend brunch special, the Eggs Kejriwal, and the London Fog latte. My friend Jen S. got the egg on a cheddar biscuit. I snagged a bite of the cheddar biscuit sandwich, and while much smaller than my dish, it was very satisfying and scrumptious. I was very pleased with my Eggs Kejriwal, as well; I loved the flavors and creaminess of the goat cheese without it being too overwhelming. My London Fog was a teeny bit underwhelming; it could have used a small bit of sweetness. While we got there around 9:30am on a Sunday and easily found a spot, by the time we left at 11am, the place was getting quite packed. There were lots of people planning to work there for many hours. Yes, it's a little pricier than perhaps your average coffee spot, but I'm happy to support a new business like this that can help be an anchor to this part of the city. read more

They've got some nice outdoor seating, lots of charging ports inside, great service and are reasonable priced! I tried the "two eggs" and cheddar cheese biscuit, and a nitro brew. The coffee was excellent and so were the breakfast potatoes that came with the eggs. The biscuit was decent, but the biscuit itself could have been better. Love it! May up to 5 stars. That'll be TBD on subsequent visits. Never knew about this Science Park area. Is this where the Yale student got caught in the wall dead? An alleged mystery in the papers but obviously a science experiment into other dimensions / time travel, etc. gone wrong. Duh. Like the Philadelphia Experiment. Anyway, Fussy is FAB! It's decor is so cool it could be in a major city like Los Angeles. No other coffee shop I know of in New Haven has got going on what Fussy has going on. Seating inside is mostly communal and there's a nice outdoor area. Don't expect a ton of pastry items but do expect awesome coffee and breakfast / lunch items. Ha, they do have avocado toast and in a great setting among other healthy and inventive items. I didn't feel well after my tomatoe bisque and grilled cheese on brioche but that's not their fault as it was beyond excellent but not in line with my diet. Am I showing my age by giving Fussy Coffee a mediocre review? Sure, the place seems trendy and hip with their $14 bulgolgi bowls and $9 kale salad (which would probably be $8 and $5 elsewhere or at home respectively). And you can grab your siracha on your tacos while you drink your espresso made with tumeric..... Pretty much, if you had a "millennial dart board" half your results will be on this menu and the other half will be next month's. All jokes and taunts aside, the menu overall does seem to be all over the place with specialty coffees, extravagant foods that tend to be a mix of what's trendy and some coffee shop classics, and beer/wine selections. Though the price of things given the area seems to be $1-2 over on some items, the quality does make up for most of it. I actually had a vegetarian banh mi and cappacino (guilty of loving my cultural mingling and thought they were pretty solid. The staff were friendly all around, especially considering I was there 20 minutes before closing time. Speaking of which, closing at 9PM is one of the biggest benefits of Fussy if you're a student who needs to stay up but is sick of burnt Keurig coffee or synthetic tasting Dunkin. If you are having a late night study session, the chairs and tables tend to sacrifice comfort for simple modern aesthetic with hardwood tables and metal/wood chairs. For those hailing from the west coast, the place looks and feels like a pop-up trendy coffee shop in Orange county or LA county California, minus the CA sun. The most impressive coffeeshop I've been to that has both great coffee AND incredible food. Depending on when you're here, it might be full of college students studying so be aware of that. Some kids took up an entire 4-person table by themselves, books strewn about and there were no other places to sit because it was a busy Saturday morning. The eggs benedict comes on really tasty biscuits and has really great flavor overall, super well done and nicely presented. It's a hearty meal and priced very reasonably. I also ordered the London Fog - perhaps not the best I've had but it's very pretty and it's interesting that it comes with lavender seeds on it. I was around Science Park area and decided to stop by Fussy Coffee for a coffee and quick breakfast. I got an iced honey milk tea and a breakfast burrito. The barista was very kind and patient with answering my questions, giving me time to look at the menu, and offering me recommendations. This is a very nice place to study or have a nice morning conversation with friends. There are plenty of seats both inside and outside the cafe. Once you order, you can sit anywhere and they will bring the food to your table, which is very convenient. I would have to say that the food and drinks are just okay, in my opinion. My drink was just a standard milk tea and there was nothing special about it. I would like to say that it was served messily because there was honey dripping down the outside of my cup, which I didn't notice initially. My hands were completely sticky after grabbing my drink. I was already informed that the breakfast burrito was a small portion, and that was true. Luckily, I wasn't that hungry so it was perfect for me.
