What greeted us was the most delightful case of pastries and loaves of breads. This is a bakery with no seating. Looks to be a large operation that might deliver breads and baked goods locally. There is a bread case, a pastry case, and lots of merch. A very patient young lady was working the counter on the morning we stopped. It took me a while to decide because I wanted one of everything, but had no business doing that! She patiently and quietly waited. Finally, I settled on a ham and cheese croissant and a cherry and white chocolate scone. My husband had a raspberry danish. I did get a drip coffee in the end. The ham and cheese croissant was crisp and flaky with the perfect balance of hame and gruyere. I have not had a scone this good. Ever. Not even in Ireland! If you "do not like scones," these are worth the try! We snacked on the pastries in the car so along with Lake Michigan sand, my car now has lots of flakes of our delicious pastries. Like sand, it's impossible not to leave remnants of the goodness behind. Tip: if you are not local, buy more than you need!! I wish I had.

The ribs had too much fat, personal preference so I brought it all home and ended up throwing it away. Sister and niece got pasta. They said it was just okay. Nephew had Mac and cheese with chicken. It sounded delicious but it didn't have much cheese and (maybe he misread?) but didn't expect fried chicken tenders on top. The other two got burgers and again, they were just okay. Overcooked for sure. Another favorite burger is gone too, maybe the Texan? We ordered special martinis for dessert but they were more like a tiny milkshake. Very little if any alcohol. Being a restaurant owner I hate giving a bad review. Maybe we've just been spoiled in the past and the kitchen staff has changed? I don't think we will keep it on our list any more. Well we call it the finest food in Michigan. Matt the owner has created a once in a lifetime experience in this roadside unassuming place that takes me back to when Napa Valley was not commercialized. Thank God we don't have a railroad running through here. Service is excellent and training is an on going thing here, as Matt wants his team to make it look like SOP. If they ever paved the way the parking lot, I'm going to protest, because it makes me know I'm up north. Make reservations folks, or spin the wheel, but I don't gamble so I always make reservations. Also the sausages aren't just the cheap bowl links. These are two really nice delicious sausages. The coffee well, it was not the best flowed whenever you asked for it. The waitress was fantastic and friendly. The ambience I can't wait to see what they do with all the plastic grapes and fruit hanging from the ceilings. I hope that the change is going to be something impressive for our town because it's time.. we'll be coming here often and I don't know if it's on Sundays yet, but we'll find out and we saw some friends and other booths so for me regardless of the decor that equals a five star.
